I wouldn't worry about it guys. We have a 1920x1200 17" laptop :)
I am looking to get an LCD for work. I work mainly with Excel and other Office family software. Basically, I read a lot of text.
My monitor of choice would be one that has a matte screen (finally figured out what was giving me migraines every day for the last month or so.. damned gloss screen!), high contrast and high brightness. Other fine tuning options would be really appreciated as well. Though I will be using it at work, I would still prefer that its power consumption is as low as possible. I also realize that I do not need insanely fast response times, though I am guessing that they wouldn't hurt when I am scrolling through large Adobe Acrobat Reader files. My size range is going to be somewhere around 22-24".. though I am willing to consider other sizes. What other things should I look for in a display if its only use will be with e-mail and basic word processing tasks? As I mentioned above, I had pretty bad eye problems... due to my little 15.1" glossy cheapo laptop that my company got me. I'd rather invest a few hundred dollars today than a few thousand down the road to fix what are now perfect eyes.
Any pointers as to where to look, how to compare, and any suggestions on monitors that people are currently using for the above mentioned types of work.
[edit]
I forgot to say a couple things. First off, I am looking at a couple monitors right now. Any input on whether they would be a good fit would be really appreciated.

Please let me know if there are any other technologies that I should be looking out for. Screen types, etc....
I just saw one monitor that can be swiveled 90degrees to allow for a full screen A4 document to be read, page at a time. THAT is cool to me.
For Photoshop work its a must-have, and you can't watch 1080p video without a 1920x screen.
I'm thinking of getting a new monitor soon and was wondering if hannsg was any good.
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16824254035 the monitor in question, thanks in advance.
I'm not having any luck tracking down a good 2560x1600 LCD.. suggestions?
That depends on how you define the word good and what kind of features you need from the 30"
If you don't need to hook it up to anything except a computer I'd say pick one without a scaler. Spares you from the extra +30ms of input lag.
yes, that is what I meant by a good one.. no scalar.
Dell's 3007 has no scaler (3008 does) but is $1600.. a Samsung 305T can be had for $1000 but has a scaler...
I could pick up a Sony 40" TV with 10-bit color for $1000 let alone all the other features the $1600 dell doesnt have...
wot about a big hd plasma? :hehe:
lcd thread...but im starting to look at plasmas because of the contrast, and they seems to handle motion better than lcd's
is there still a burning out problem with plasma's? stigma??? true /false?
someone should start a database of LCD's with and without input lag..
I don't know about prices where you live but here the HP LP3065 was the cheapest of them all, it has the exact same panel as the 3007wfp-HC. I got mine very cheap and no dead pixels :)
You should also check out the LG W3000H (LG is the manufacturer of all 30" IPS panels), it has the rev 5 panel same as Dell 3008 but without the scaler, seems you can get it pretty cheap.
Awesome, NCIX and Futureshop both carry the LG at $1299.99 so you can pricematch them ;)
What would you guys consider to be the ultimate LCD screen out there? If money was of no concern.

What do you guys think of the Sceptre 24" Widescreen LCD for $199? Black Friday special. The price is welcoming, I think its this this.
A little feedback on the Vizio VMM266 26" 1920x1200 that they're blowing out at Costco- this thing sucks, backlight bleed is insanely bad and there's obvious refresh scanning (I don't know the technical term, but I'm seeing sweeping from the bottom to the top of the display) when Vsync is turned off. In short, this thing blows - but for $350 it makes a fantastic office display, just don't try to play high FPS games on it.
I am searching for an input lag glossary if anyone knows of any... http://forums.anandtech.com/messagev...ead=y#26495193
I was using this and bought the 24 inch benq but I was also looking for a more comprehensive list.
Which one is better for gaming?
Acer Ferrrari F-22
Or
Asus VH22H
I just picked up an Asus VW266H. Super-nice. Awesome Oblivion and Fallout3 gaming at 1920 x 1200.
