WTF ?!?!?!?!
The new version isn't on ASUS site any more!
I really don't know, what is going on ...
P.S. Hehe, the new BIOS is back online. I really hope, this time, we will have an improvement.

I never seen it on Asus site but the FTP.
I have gained nothing with this Bios.
Boot 4 sticks of my ram (Rev 1.1) to 1175mhz with normal voltage and no fancy tweaked settings but CANNOT boot out of Bios to even Post with just 1 stick beyond 1175mhz no matter how much voltage or settings tweaks.
OK..I've tried '2104'..:)

It took 5 months to add one more ''OC CPU Level Up'' Entry. (The only change this Bios has).

Anybody got funky IDE light action during bootup with 2104???
Hi.
These are my settings for e8400. Orthos, Linpcak, OCCT, SuperPI, etc... all tests were OK, but when i start a 3d game (Burnout Pradise, Velvet Assasin, CoH:Tales of Valor) after a few minutes or seconds, freezes like hell.:shrug::confused::confused:
First i thought it was win7, but it does the same thing under vista. VGA not OC-ed.

Lol !! Just clocked wit it yesterday morning and it was great for suxx yeahhh !! MFAsus Bios !!!! Don't have any screenies cus' I thin that's useless after all ^^
What I can say is that the NB is limited to 1,54v, the vCore to 1,6v bios (1,58 real loadline cal on) didn't get higher than 440FSB on my E7500 and @4,2 stable -_-
For my Crucials (D9GMH) looked quickely with 3:5 and instead of 1200 it was 1333 :/ don't understand anything ...I'm still furious bout this release !!! Go to H(s)ell MF MIIF !!!
I think I'll go back to 1307 which gaves me more satisfaction.
All my Asus boards have some worth perfs at every new bios rev. so they definitly lost a costumer !!
Yeah, I never bothered flashing to the 2104 BIOS. Even if it were to be the "Bee's knees" of BIOS's, I'm pretty much done with this board and Asus in general.
My interest as of late has been the DX48BT2 and 2 x's 2GB of G. Skill Pi Black DDR3 1600. I've never owned an intel board before so it should prove to be an interesting distraction until I upgrade CPU's sometime 1st quarter of 2010.
Hey guys, anybody got any suggestionos on gettin my 9450 stable?? Here are current settings..
Vcore- 1.5
DDR 2.17
CPUPLL 1.6
NB 1.59
VTTCPU 1.49
Running at 498fsb/1195 mem, PL10, AI-Moderate
CPU skew -200
NB skew -100
GTL's auto (please help here, i HATE math)
Chip and mem are known to run 4.0/1200 no issues....
Any help is appreciated...
Hello
I have had 4gb ram for ages now and my system has run fine with 450fsb on my Q9450@3600mhz. But recently I ordered more ram, so I now have 8gb and now I cant even get it stable in windows anymore with same settings. I have 4x 2gb Dominator PC8500 ram moduls one par is rev 1.1 and the other is 1.2 if that makes a diffrence. I have tried alot of settings on the ram now with alot of diffrent timings but it dosent get stable at all. Do u have any tips?, I have read the dominator thread on extreme bandwith section and they have 8gb of ram stable on alot better timings then I have. What am I doing wrong? I will post bios settings that works for my 4gb setting:

That has worked for over 1 year 100% stable with 2x2gb modules, now what should I do to get 4x2gb stable? is it impossible?
Here is the memory thread btw the first postar has the same mobo as I have and only diffrent cpu and his memory runs fine on alot higher fsb and tighther timings:
http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/...d.php?t=179555
and note I am still using bios 1307 is that my problem?
I think I tried all those solutions with any luck this just sucks:/
Edit: oh wait when I was about to decide it was time to bring the rams back to the store a they started getting more stable :D, But I do run tref @ 105 now lol, 1 hour prime 95 blend stable atleast so far
So none has any ideas?
I'm having the same issues man, i also posted in the GTL settings thread, maybe you should also??
Man, having issues getting the skews straightend out i do believe. I cannot for the life of me get it stable at 1199-99.. Same setup did it on my Formula, but there is better bandwidth on the P45. Only thing is, i havent ran this board in almost a year, and have forgotten bios settings ect... I posted all my settings on the GTL post, think ya could look it over, and give me a heads up???

Should i adjust the NB GTL also???
WOOT!! The above settings seem to be workin fine so far! Seems i had the GTL's reversed.... Ugh..... Thank's for the new direction!
You ever get those mosfet blocks yet Grn???
I couldnt do it with the 5-5-5 timings, my mem is rated at 6-6-6-18. Otherwise, 498fsb runnin my Q9450@4.0... WOOT!!!!
Let me get it absoultly stable, and i will post back...
Grn, how do i figure the NB GTL settings, and were should i start with the dram clock skews?? Positive, or negative?? Wish this was easier to dial in.....
I had to go up to PL10 for any type of stability, definatly took a hit on read performance....
I tried the NB GTL formula in the GTL thread, man, that seems to be all jacked up, plus, NOONE can tell me how you can tell to either set positive or negative settings/skews.... Seems like all the "write ups" are aimed at people who have a deg in electical engineering or something....
NB GTL's work out to about 50mv if your still running 1.59 volts
Dram clock scew is your friend, as I posted 2x2GB kits advanced seems to be the sweet spot, for 8GBs delay works better...I dont have an engineering degree but I have lost about 4 nights of sleep testing clock skews..
If you set a higher tref value and run 5-5-5-18 you might be able to lower your PL

All other settings AI twister, ect, are set to your reccomendations.....
Should the NB GTL settings be positive, or negative??
Tried the memory skews also, none seem to work as well as auto...
ok my motherboard is really :banana::banana::banana:ed now after I played around alot with the 8gb of
ram that I sent back to the store now because I dident feel the need to have them. But now I have problems
with the motherboard not posting sometimes when I save bios settings or reboot the computer.
What I have to do then is to unplug he power to the psu and then put it back in again and it boots and
runs stable after that, and it dosent reset the bios settigns either.
What is this problem? it is really a pain in the ass is the mobo broken? I doubt that because after
I rebooted it a couple of times it starts just fine and runs stable for hours.
Sounds like you have loaded a saved bios profile...copy your settings reflash the bios, do a full cmos reset and enter your bios setting manually.
There is also a small bug related to vNB and VTT, if the values are within a few volts you get a post hang, I've never experienced it but many have, search this thread for the issue and check your vtt and vnb values
Gotta question on Seban's GTL calcultor, there are 2 sperate fields, VTT for set 1, and VTT for set 2, which of the settings are to be used, and are they positive, or negative settings???
positive value for 65nm cpu and negative for 45nm cpu
not sure about the gtl calculator you have...the one I use has 2 options 1 for 45nm and 2 for 65nm and enter your vtt value of course.
I've used that one, it doesnet give any nb GTL settings.... The one im using is a xls file posted within this thread way back....
what at me after the setting NB GTL : AUTO, Windows not start normally ( BSOD after logo Vista ) after the setting NB GTL: +60mV he just works normally... but i don't know if this good setting

I've had enough Grn, ordered some Enzotech mosfet blocks, and a NB block for my DKX48TRS2+.... Hopefully i will have better luck with it, and its bios.....
Just experiment. It's only 1 setting. Just try from -100mv to +100mv and see what works best. That's what I did. Those formulas are OK to get started, but can be overly confusing and lead you astray if you stick to them for set-and-forget settings.
Since it is inter-dependent w/ vNB you have to do a back-and-forth w/ each setting. See what NB-GTL works best for the vNB you're at, and then try lowering or raising vNB and try again. Make yourself a table and plot out the best combos.
Yes, it is time-consuming, but this is a hobby board, and requires a lot of attention to get it just right. Copying others settings will only get you so far.
I spent a good 4 weeks playing w/ mine before giving up on 485+FSB for 24/7 stability. I can boot at 505x8.5 and run any bench at 500x8.5, but for 24/7 I took a more conservative approach and settled on a nice even 4GHz (471x8.5) 5:6 DDR-1132 5-5-5-15 PL8 Strong. Trying to push the FSB too hard makes it hard to get the RAM tight anyway.
Okay, how do I enable the LAN teaming? Where can I get the driver etc.
I've been googling for 30min with no results. Seems like everyone talks about it but never tried it out.
Anyone know where to go to figure out how to enable and use it?
You can download the utility from Marvel, it's called NCU. As of now it doesnt support windoz 7, but works fine in other os's. Just install it, and go to the properties of each nic, create a "team" i use "static", and add the other nic to it. Easy as that, connection will change to 200mbps, and your good to go...
Nice! Thanks man :)
unless you have a edu pipe or similar that can take advantage of the increased bandwidth..whats the benifit of a 200mbps nic?
It definatly made for better torrent connections for me.....
hmmm, I have a 10mbit line at home maybe I shall try it, I dont use torrents but I use newsgroups and have top site axx
Really?
I'd think the Internet connection would bottleneck it. I mean it shouldn't matter how fast you can talk to the router if the router can only talk to the web via 10Mb/s.
And shouldn't it be 2000Mb/s (2Gb/s) if you team? I guess you need a Gb router, though.
24/7 settings - 100% stable with my hardware :)
I will post screens later :)

Kayso, did you use Simps guide to get there???
Hi guys,
I am new with this board and it`s not even installed. I took a look in the manual and read sth about the Epu6-Engine software.
I will change from my current Maximus Formula and there was the option to only install the Epu driver without the software with it. How is this with the M2F and is the software good in your opinion?
Also the manual says to first install ram in the yellow slots for better running/OC, I guess they mean the white ones!?
Regards.
The same effect can be triggered by amending the TCP/IP settings of the NIC itself rather than teaming them together. It's worth checking out the NIC settings in device manager and/or the Windows registry. I don't know which settings would need tuning off the top of my head (too taxing on the brain hehe) but things like concurrent connections, read/send buffer and so forth. Changing things like MTU won't help if you're on ADSL since as far as I remember ADSL supports a MTU of 576 bytes. You're always going to get encapsulation/overhead/fragmentation and unless you're using Gigabit or higher (Your PC <> Router/Switch) I wouldn't worry about it overly much (no need to think jumbo frames to increase throughput efficiency etc.).
The only exception to the above would be if you have a hub in play, especially if it's set at 10Mb/s Ethernet which wasn't full duplex hence packet collisions galore (I doubt many people still use them though).
There are apps online that tune your Internet connection for you, or info on what to change in the Windows registry.
You can't get 1000Mb/s Ethernet to work if your router/switch only supports Fast Ethernet which is 100Mb/s. Auto-negotiation won't allow it, even if you set it manually to 1000/1000 it's a no go. Also you ned CAT 5e/6 UTP or better cabling (i.e. STP if you are sending secret info :) )
I run Raid0 so cannot comment on Asus Six Engine but I can only assume its crap like the rest of there software.
I would recommend getting the latest chipset driver from Intel and IMSM if your running raid. And yes they mean white slots for the dimms Asus copied most of the manual from a P5Q
Allright, thank you. After installing I only have the problem that I can`t use the Console Starter and AudioConsole from the X-Fi Utility, only the Volume Panel is working. When I try to start Console Starter for example, there comes a message "no supported audio found" (sth. like that) and I have the option to switch to another audio but in this list only is Windows-Standard and nothing else to switch to. I installed AudioMax driver and X-Fi Utility after. Also I cant get Mic or Headphones working with the front panel (tried HDAudio and AC97 in bios and different settings in AudioMax software).
I run a xtreme gamer creative card but iirc you need to set HD audio in bios, do not let vista/xp install anything and then install the sound max and creative drivers from the cd...my wifes rig runs the same board and thats the method I used and the audio is working 100%
you may need to uninstall from device manager and clear the registry of any drivers
I never let XP install sth I don`t want to have ;)
I installed the card the way you did. Soundmax is working, X-Fi Volume Panel is working. Then I started X-Fi Console Launcher and I had to activate the card with the serial on the Asus CD and I could activate without a problem. Then I wanted to start the now registered/activated function X-Fi Console Launcher and then the error message I wrote in my post before apeared and is still appearing when starting Console Launcher or Audio Console.
I wonder that the Soundcard is not fitting optimal in the slot. The hole with which the card becomes screwed with the case is a few mm above the hole from the case. I already removed the mainboard screw exactly under the soundcard but that didn`t help a lot. The case is straight, I don`t know why it`s not fitting right.
Whatever, the card is working, only the X-Fi functions won`t find the audio needed to start and the list only contains windows standard, nothing to switch (and fornt audio doesn`t work).
I don`t like mainboard sound and my X-Treme music is defect/had problems with Maximus Formula X38. Therefor I want to buy a X-Fi Titanium PCIe in a few weeks but I am scarred it won`t fit, too. Another option would be a X-Treme Music UAA but that`s PCI and PCI is the main reason for most problems with this X-Fi PCI cards. Grrrrrrrrr :)
that is wierd did you update the creative drivers once the cd install was finished?
I had some issues with feedback when I moved the mouse around and after the update all was fine.
No, I used a downloaded installer for Soundmax and X-Fi utility. Soundmax version in installer-filename is V510X6480 (XP) and X-Fi utility is 1.0, didn`t find any newer version.

Ok, so I've had my Maximus II Formula up for sale for a while ($160) and no ones bought it. Recently a guy has shown some interest in mine. So, I just was going through the retail packaging etc. making sure everything was there and caught myself a slight interest in it again. This prompted me to check the Asus download page for an update to the bios for this motherboard and I noticed BIOS 2104 is out for this board which amazes me. Now, I am having thoughts of keeping this board in blind hopes of my previous goal of rock solid 24/7 500fsb with my Q9650 + 4gb (but I do have 8gb in disposal)
What's the reports of this new bios!? Grn, anyone? Thanks,

1307 is still the best for me :(

Didnt bother to try the new bios Asus epaper had this to say about its new release
Maximus II Formula Release BIOS 2104, 04/13/2009 [Download] Enhance system stability with certain memory modules.
I might test it out tonight for someting to do
iirc in your sys tray there should be a XFI icon right click and select the update option, not at my pc right now I'll check when I return home
Thanks for the Reply GrnFinger
If you mean the Creative Volume Panel icon, there is no update function. I also took a look in the startmenu (don`t know if it`s right in english) Creative folder where you normally can select the update function with a real X-Fi card like my old X-Treme music but there is no update function, too.
I will wait till you are home again :yepp:
Any results with the new Bios yet?
I flashed the new bios directly after putting the new M2F in my system and I have no problems so far but I don`t no the versions before. Since the weekend I am playing around to find my 500x8 settings I also used before with the X38. I need a bit more VFSB, 1,25VBios/1,24-1,25V Everest (X38: 1,20VBios/1,10V Everest), a bit less VNB, 1,206VBios/1,19V Everest (X38: 1,33VBios/1,31V Everest) and almost the same Vcore (both 1,218V Bios/1,160-1,168V CPU-z) and VDimm (both 1,80V Bios). With VNB and VFSB I am not ready with testing, perhaps I can give them a little bit less V but not less than 0,05V, so far I already tested.
With the X38 I could run PL9, now I had to switch to PL10 with M2F (both Moderate) but it`s as fast in Everest Cache bench as X38 with PL9.
@ Grnfinger: Come home :D

Nice clock, Seba
Nice results, have you tweaked your timing yet?
Scores look a litle low imo

Grn - your result is at 500 Fsb and Seba's is at 480. It is normal to have such difference.
And Seba, try
DRAM Static Read Control: Enabled
DRAM Read Training: Enabled
MEM. OC Charger: Disabled
I haven't changed any settings, and it shows up as 1Gb. I'm only using 1 NIC (the other is disabled), and I'm hooked into a Gb router.
I've never seen it drop to 100Mb b/c of lack of need and I've never heard of NICs doing that. It's not like speedstep.
That makes more sense. Teaming shouldn't really help if the Internet is still the bottleneck, but if it's a work-around for unoptimized throughput settings then it seems much more feasible.
Grnfinger could you take a look in your device manager > Audio- Video and Gamecontroller > Soundmax Integrated HD Audio. I did and my driverversion is 5.10.1.6480. You should have a newer one because of the update you made (and I cannot find). I would like to have the drivers up to date.
That would be nice :)
What PL is this? 8 and STRONG? Looks like it. I don't think you can get any kind of stabilty at 500MHz FSB and 1200MHZ DDR2 on the MIIF unless you drop to PL 10-11 and LIGHT/LIGHTER - naturally with a VNB of 1.45V or more.
I assume you just loaded it to do a quick memory benchmark without bothering with the stability right Grnfinger?
GFORCE100
Lol mate :) You are funny
hi guys havent posted in a while.
Well here in Greece the heat is starting to be a problem but anyway ,does anyone have "setup" for 500fsb or a setup for my memories @1200.
I need it for a bench test...
Hey guys. Seeing as a new $1,500 AUD computer is on the horizon for me. Is this board still good?
I can get it for $299AUD and wondering if it is worth it or not
Thanks in advanced :):)
I made stable 4320 Mhz with my new Q9650 . Batch L826B006 VID 1.20

I think it can reach 4600 Mhz (9x511) but I do not have a clue how to do it. So please can someone to post a template for MIIF .
No that would be PL9 Stronger, timing 5-5-5-18, requires lots of NB juice to keep it stable, it will run 3dmark and games all day long but no it wont pass line pak but it will pass prime for 6 hours:D
I will be home tomorrow and will post the info
Thank you!
i just put my stuff into my maximus 2, and i keep running into the problem of the system hanging at "init rom" and the "cmoserr" any ideas as to what is causing this? or does this mean my board is broke?
Board has 2 bios chips, switch to the other bios and flash it to 1901.
Looks like somehow you have the bios corrupt, do not load a saved bios profile enter all setting manually..if the board is still causing you grief I would test the ram in another board to rule out bad dimms otherwise your looking at RMA'ing the board
An XS member has posted the software, it is here
http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/...d.php?t=226020
I'm in the middle of a my Rampage build so I'll be a few more days b4 I can post the info, this is the same version tho
Ok, thank you Grnfinger.
Hi All,
Long time no speak,
Firstly I'm sorry if this is in the wrong place but I din't know where too put it exactly. It is regarding the appropriate hardware though (and possibly BIOS on formula II)?
Is anyone having problems with BIOS 2104? Reason I'm asking is...... I've been using 2104 for a few weeks now without any problems really apart from one! Racedriver GRID! (now I know GRID has problems of it's own but previously with BIOS 1901 I'm sure it was ok) It's not a BSOD I get, It's an app crash error normally right in the middle of a race (GRID.EXE has stopped working.) The system is stable, has no memory erros or anything. GPU temps are maxed at 88*C during the game (normal I think for a GTX295?) and CPU max is 60*C.
Basically could the 2104 BIOS be causing this please? I'm just asking before I back flash it.
TIA fellas
orb
Grnfinger
1307 is still the best for me :)
OK fellas thanks for the feedback, going to flash it back now to 1901.
orb
That's because too much overclock and not stable PC. Try to bump your vCore with 2-3 steps and I think will be better :)
I had same crashes in GTAIV and Fallout but that was because my PC wasn't complete stable. With +0.25 Vcore everything was fine.
If it is not the CPU, maybe is the memory or NB, you have to find it yourself. For me 2104 is the best bios until now.
If some of you are interested, there are 2 modded versions of bios 1901 at forumdeluxx.de: http://www.hardwareluxx.de/community...d.php?t=588579
...1xx is normal bios with updated device drivers and ...2xx is a version with some tweaks, I dont know any details, sorry. I just switched to the mBIOS.1901.101 yesterday and no problems so far.Quote:

Hierbei handelt es sich um von mir gemoddete BIOSe für das MIIF. Die Benutzung erfolgt auf eigene Gefahr. Für Fehler übernehme ich keine Haftung, bisher kamen aber keine Klagen.
Was wurde gemodded?
