1306 and 1201 overvolts the same for me if i set in bios 2.00v for memory = 2.04-2.06 full load.
Well after a long prime i decided to stop it as this is good enough for stability for 24/7. Also in picture is the IDLE right after shutting down Orthos. Also the Minimum temp in Realtemp is not right i accidently closed it and opened it during testing as the minimum should be 30C as that is the IDLE temp.
Now can i be classed as being in the 4.0ghz and Above Club? .... :)

I like speedstep for the cpu heat reduction, I'm on air and maxed @ 3.6 its running in the 50s to 60. Most of the time its at x6 which is 2.7 and just faster than stock max for the cpu, and in the 40s
I'm needing 1.33475 volts for this chip (week 803), and the CF gpus are toasty in the case even with the fan set at 40%. They noticeably heat the room up. The case has 2 exhaust 2 intake and 2 on the heat sink, noctuas P and S. Love the GPUs though - the only downside is their fan noise/heat
whit T:E:C Cooling an low vcore ;)
Nice OC Martin.v.r
Now lets see some 12-16 hrs of prime blend... :)
Well my board now won't let me POST when ram is set anywhere above 1199 MHz. It's got worse, and I think it's dying. I'm sick of the ram & random bios corruption issues I'm having, so I put in my RMA today. As the process will take 1 - 2 months, I will have to buy a new board as I need it daily. I'm still trying to decide which board I'll get in replacement, and also what to do with the P5Q-Deluxe I get back. I'm a bit down about it, but hardware is getting more and more poorly made, even some 'top-end' boards are having major problems, like heatsinks not contacting mosfets and the NB, resulting in failures within minutes of starting up for the first time and 100*C+ board temps etc, so it's just something that we have to put up with these days I guess. It is pretty disappointing to see this kind of thing from companies today, especially considering the price we pay for these boards. All I can do is hope my replacement board is not dodgey like the one I have now.
Nice result mate, what are your temps on the T.E.C?
@BeastNotro - good to see you finally got your 8600 up and running, hope you have some fun with it. Your initial results look good.
Is there any way to enable Speedstep in Vista if I'm using 8x multiplier with my Q6600? Speedstep only works when my multiplier is in Auto (6x/9x)
set multiplier 8x and C1E Support enabled... I have no problem with it - Vista64, e8500:)
Those with problems pushing Ram above 1200, are u giving a bit more vNB? That could help.
from foto in #3512 fun test whit T:E:C 266W,have take it of again
4.8GHZ 0/2c load
5.0GHZ -12c an a big fan on the watercooling, no foto here sorry
all over 480x10 i can not use strap 400 whit lov volt set on mem:down: if i set volt to men on 2.5+ i can
i use strap 333
Hi has anyone got the q9650 can boot and pass intel burn in 50 times but when I come to playing a game it. Blue screens what could be problem I'm using 468fsb x 9 1.41 vcore
lol that sounds like my issue. Can you by any chance get 1199 (bios) stable? I can, but as soon as I increase it to 1200, it will not even POST. Major problem there obviously.
Also are you on the P5Q-Deluxe?
**After reading through the M2F thread (most of it anyway) I don't think I even want a M2F anymore. The M2F bioses dont have PL manually adjustable, and dont have clock skew etc adjustments. You have to flash it to the Rampage bios to get those adjustments, which is insane considering how much those damn boards cost - I would have thought they'd have more options than the P5Q-Deluxe but they actually have less.
Also the amount of people with weird instabilities, inability to go above 450 FSB with dual core wolfdales, the now famous 'DET DRAM' error, 3D apps and Vista Aero theme causing bluescreens despite the system being otherwise stable, and massive ram incompatibilities, make me not want that board in a big way. There are also a large number of people on their 2nd and 3rd boards and still having various issues. Quite honestly they look like overpriced, flakey, crap. Maybe the P5Q-D's are better?
im on a plain P5Q.
i easily run 499fsb 5:6 1199ddr CL555-15 PL9 on only 2.1v 24/7 prime blend stable for hours on end, OCCT stable, memtest86+ stable for hours on end including just looping test #7 for hours on end, etc.
but it wont even post @ 500/1200 CL555-18 PL10 :shakes:
dropping down to 1:1 i can post and bench upto 540/1080.
tried Ket's m1306, didnt fix it.
That is EXACTLY what my board does. Rock stable at 499/1199 but as soon as I go to do 500/1200 i get black screen and no post. Damn annoying isn't it? I'm RMA'ing my board because of it. Says on the box my board can do DDR1200, but no way in hell will it do it, no matter what divider or FSB or strap or bios version I use. It has driven me insane.
Oh and I have 4 kits of ram that all do DDR1300+ so it's not them, definitely the board.
EDIT - only difference between you and I is I can load windows and bench at 590 FSB 1:1.
I think most people are pretty happy with the P5Q deluxe and its always got great reviews, unfortunatly it seems you got a bit of a dud... its always a hard call deciding what to do while something is away for an RMA holiday... Thats how I ended up with my P5Q-D, my 680i started playing up and needed a checkup.
Personaly If I was you id just get a base P5Q or something 2nd hand to tide you over til your new hopfully fixed board comes back (hopefully quickly) as it wont be long before everyone is tempted by x58 boards and you may kick yourself for dropping $400 on another board just before they are out.
Yeah I must have got the worst P5Q-D ever made it seems. I have no idea how long the RMA process will take, being in Australia it could be months (I hope not) and I have heard horror stories of Asus being very slow, and have had confirmed that they are also sending out refurbished and/or returned boards to you until you RMA 2 or 3 times whereupon they finally send you a new board. That is a very dodgey practice indeed.
Yes, I have tried every frequency possible all the way up to 1333 lol. That's why I'm insane. I finally got it to boot and load windows at DDR 1333, and DDR 1317, that's it, nothing else works. now I however I cannot do it again, nothing over 1199 works now.
With same BIOS and config ? wtf happens with this mobo then?
ive tried every bios, all have this bug.
im currently running Ket's m1306.
ive tried 501/1203, and a ton of other combinations above 1200, tried jumping to 1278 as someone mentioned that worked for them, but still no go.
lower fsb combinations for 1200ddr, no go.
its as if its completely locked out, or non-existant.
Ket's mBios replaces the entire memory table, youd think that would fix it, but no. it must be locked out somewhere else, there is no reason why this board cant do 1200+DDR :shakes:
U could post on Asus P5Q Deluxe official forum and see what they say.
- Iīve just checked and itīs fallen lol.
No idea, my vdimm voltage has also changed between bios flashes, it overvolted 0.09v to start with, and after perhaps 15 flashes it was 0.02v under bios set value. It changed everytime I flashed it. My board is weird.
Hey that was me, I did get it to post between 1278 and 1316 but wouldn't load windows, then set 1317 and I could even bench it, same with 1333, but nothing else. Now nothing at all over 1199 works.
I have also tried all bioses, all FSB/Divider combos, straps, you name it I've tried it. I'm done. This board's going back where it came from.
Where did u get those ddr2 1333 sticks and how much? Here in my country canīt buy anything above 1100.
I don't quite think they are officially rated at 1333,though i saw some team-groups at over 1200 ;)
#3534 look here 2.3V Cellshock PC8000 cl4 :)
So noone can reach 1200 or above with this mobo stable?
Luckily not all have these issues mate... most of the boards run pretty awesome but there are exceptions to the rule... I have one E that's a total pos... from stock bios to modified bios nothing changes... 1200mhz ram on my Dlx hasn't been a problem at all : not at 500FSB neither at 600FSB, 1200Mhz ram is no issue... sadly it's not for Cryptik...
http://users.telenet.be/OAP/P5QDlx/400-1200-1306.JPG
Ok, Iīm glad to read that.
What about the BIOSs? Which one would u recommend me with the Q6600? Iīve read about quad problems with BIOS above 0803. I was with 0803 but after some bad temps reads and higher temperatures Iīm on 1201 with margin in performance which seems to work fine. Look this read with 0803. Would be great to have these temps ^^ .
http://img125.imageshack.us/img125/1074/img0940hv2.jpg
Another thing that I saw with last BIOS was that while with 0803 I got 495*7 3dmark and superpi stable with 1360 was impossible enter windows at same fsb. Thatīs why I turned back to 0803 but like I comment that one doesnīt work fine for me either.
setFSB is able to set 500/1200, why cant the bios?
http://i224.photobucket.com/albums/d...Q/500-1200.jpg
Strange issue indeed,my card also garbage.with latest bios i can reach 580 only,i will excahnge ASAP with a DFI P45 ;)
Strange issue indeed,my card also garbage.with latest bios i can reach 580 only,i will excahnge ASAP with a DFI P45 ;)
deja-vu! :D
They're not DDR2-1333 sticks, they're 1066's but they overclock to 1333 easily.
Oh no, everyone seems to have no problems with the deluxe except me. You just dont see many people doing it as hardly anyone has ram that's capable of that, or will push that hard.
That screenie is torture for me, I would love to be able to do that :(
That really is weird, I haven't tried setFSB on mine. I just want another board, if it won't do it from bios, something is really wrong, and they should replace my board.
I'm happy with my setup,
http://img388.imageshack.us/img388/2302/whatnl7.th.jpg
I can get the 1200 on these but, it is not stable and it takes 2.4v,
http://img114.imageshack.us/img114/4...elveqc8.th.jpg
Yeah most people have no problems with 1200 (if they have the ram/will to try) - my rams stock speed is 1200 and I never had any grief. One of my four sticks did die last week (and is now away for RMA) but Im pretty sure that was just bad Kharma and not related to the board.
I have been able to to run it faster than 1200, but for daily use I dont bother, the ram is already working pretty hard on the 500 FSB.
Ok, thx for the info guys.
Another question, could anyone with 65nm talk me about BIOS 0604. Iīve heard is the best for ocing these cpus due to lower vPLL and vNB at high FSB.
Ok whats the best 1200 ram to use on the P5Q Deluxe mobo?
My Teams go well, you saw my 1333 MHz Everest bench, also Martin V.R's cellshocks did very well too. I suppose you want D9's? If not, look for some G.Skill PSC based ram (think it was PC9200 or 9600), can't remember what model off the top of my head but it hit 1200 at around 2.0 - 2.1v.
Well I have ordered my M2F and have arranged to RMA my P5Q-D, so here's hoping I have better luck with the new mobo.
Gskill 9600,but they are 4 gb and also not so cheap now
About memories I think I will buy new sticks when really DDR3 arrive with nehalem and I can get good frequency with low timings DDR2; with these Redline I can wait.
And btw, what max memory freq. have u seen with this mobo?
i dont like to use setFSB either but i just wanted to see what my mem can do. i was able to bench 1275ddr but it failed 1300, using the same settings i use @ 1199. benchmark results scaled normally.
i didnt bother with seriouos stress testing.
the 400 strap ratios were unstable past 1199, 333s worked fine, some 266s worked fine some didnt.
:shakes:
What about overvolts with lasts BIOSes (1201 & 1306) of PLL, vFSB, vDIMM and vNB? Could anyone with multimeter resume them plz?
Uugh after some holidays and other foreign trips, getting back to update you from my magic box. I bet those were not shown yet:
ASUS P5Q Deluxe BIOS build 1402
ASUS P5Q BIOS build 1307
What does 1402 Bios do ?? for P5Q deluxe?
Let me guess....."improve memory compatibility"
No idea TBH but I'd be surprised if I was wrong.
At least:
- modified behaviour of vNB voltage downgrade while using Epu6 utility
- fixed the bug that you were unable to install OS when Yorkfield C1 with FSB1600 was used
- fixed EzFlash2
- revised DMI table in order to support new windows 7 requirements
- +minor updates as well
Is stable with the same settings as 1306 ( did 2 linpack runs of maximum stress) this time it passed with the lower Vcore of 1306, beforehand I would get one or two errors...
http://users.telenet.be/OAP/P5QDlx/1402.JPG
Early Everest benchmarks reveal a slightly better cpu cache performance as 1306, but will need to verify further...
Any new ones in progress for the E's sir Pmp ? As they seem the most plagued boards with very erratic performance...
Nice. What was wrong and needed fixing in EzFlash2?
What minor updates were included?
That's strange about the lower vcore not causing errors when 1306 did get errors. I don't understand the logic behind that, or how it could be possible. The cpu has a minimum vcore requirement for a given speed, a bios cannot possibly affect that. Unless they have somehow stabilized the vcore supply such that it didn't drop below a certain point (I'm talking really fast fluctuations that aren't visible using cpu-z etc). Strange.
I could run prime and co eg at 1.2 Vcore (in bios) before 1306. With 1306 I could run 2 settings lower without loosing stability in Prime or OCCT... yet Linpack 1.6 failed and needed 1.2 again... now I tried it for fun and it passed 2 times test with 5 itenerations (with max ram test)... don't ask me why, but it worked here (maybe better AUTO GTL tuning ? )... when are you getting the MF II mate ?
Leeghoofd ty f report,I try 1402:) to
ok here is the report of BIOS 1402 from me,I use 3D-mark05 to test the pc to 24/7 E8600 Q820A606 @ 4.2 1.28v
low vcore to here,an fsb to/mem:up: nice ASUS
I have 1402 installed now, ran a quick Linpack test with 1 notch lower for cpu, got 1 error, then tried 1 notch higher vdimm to 2.02 from 2.0, passed no problem, all my other settings exactly as 803m bios. Will test further..
Larry
Right, yes perhaps you're correct in that GTL may be different on the new bios. Interesting findings. My M2F should be here in 3 days or so, ordered it last night :D
So you also can go lower on vcore and stay stable? What did you notice about the fsb/mem?
You too with the lower vcore, well it seems to be reproducible, perhaps there is better GTL tuning on the new bios. Certainly is an interesting finding.
My GTL's are set exactly the same as my previous settings, .670;0/2 .675; 1/3,.640 NB.
Game runs smooth, Linpack runs fine.. will test more soon.
Larry
i tried bios 1402,was on 1306 and i tried lowering my Vcore one step and i was able to pass linpack 5 runs also.where before it would fail
Bios 1402 working fine over here, vcore stable at 2 notches down as noted by Lee. Tested mem voltage and it overvolts more for me with this bios than 1306. This new bios setting 2.16 in bios is giving me 2.22-23 real.
Bios 1307 for P5Q... much slower benchmarks all around and doesnt fix anything, typical Asus.
im getting real tired of this chit
here is 4 hour orthos test with Leeghoofd's settings 533x7.5 1,2935v set bios , core temps near 72C @ %100 load with old big typhoon:D i must change him to TRUE 120
http://img396.imageshack.us/img396/4...torthosfb2.jpg
Playing with my P5Q since 2 Days a little bit, and i reached this. have to find now a better performance on the RAM.. Maybe with the 1402 Bios..
Since there is no separated P5Q Pro thread, and it's almost the same MBO...
I bought this one because it says it has two completely x16 slots. I cannot put my 8800 Ultra in first slot because I have HTPC and it doesn't fit because of HDD cage there.
So I put it in second slot but it's stuck at 8x. Why? What the hell should I do now? RMA it?
Hi!
I have an Asus P5Q and i need help to overclock my Q6600 to 3 ghz!
My settings are:
My questions are:Quote:

- The AI Clock Twister option, what are the differences beetween, lighter, moderate, stronger, etc... ?
- I can boot at 900 mhz in my memories, but when i try to reach 1000 mhz i can't, i even put 2.2v in my memories but nothing... Is any setting bad in my config or is the ram that is not very good... Is strange because for 900 mhz i only put 1.9v.
- What are the PULL-INS and what are the differences when is enable or disabled.
- Options like Intel Virtualization Tech, Execute Disable Bit, and the others... why are always disabled for overclock ?
- Why in DRAM Frequency don't appear frequency's like 800,900,1000, and appears 7xx, 88x, 1002, etc ?? ( I know that varies depending of the FSB, but why i can't put 900 ? ). :S
And the last question
- Load Line Calibration must be enable or disable ? What are the differences ?
Thanks... I know this a lot of questions, but i want to put this only in 3ghz, and iam a bit noob on this, so if anyone help me, i will be grateful.
P.S- Sorry for my english...
AI Transaction Booster, try Auto or somehere near 10.
Dram Voltage, What ram are you running? Maybe try 1.98 to 2.0v for ram that runs 2.1v
Load Line Calibration, It fixes the vdrop/vdroop for the most part, I don't use it but alot of folks do.
I suggest running ram timings loose until you get your highest clock, then mess with tightening ram timings up. Hope this helps some.
Larry
hmm I flash back to 1306 ? max whit 1406 an E8600 is 450x10 an 1306 It is 510x10 an to 24/7 480x10
but to 420x10 is 1402 nice, but not to high overclock.
Which is the best board to have in overclockering a E8600?
whats the differents between the too on what they can do?
ASUS P5Q Deluxe LGA 775 Intel P45 Intel Motherboard
ASUS P5Q Pro LGA 775 Intel P45 ATX Intel Motherboard
the deluxe has better cooling and 16-phase power....the power may be a gimmick but the cooling helps for sure.
A nice in-between is the P5Q-E
Lee can you repost your template for the QX9650. I want to see if mine will do the same.
I try all volt set/memset whit 1406 no go can not run a 3D-mark test over 450x10:shakes:
hmm i can try a lower multip.. but that is not fun:(
i test whit slot 1/3 an 2/4 Cellshock PC8000 CL4 an G.skill PC8000 CL4-4-4-5
auto temingset whit bios 1306 is 5-5-5-18 an whit bios 1406,It is 5-5-5-15:confused:
Im still using 0806, have not had 1 crash that wasnt a failed overclock. Runs a lot better than my old nforce board.

right this is one thing that buging the s**t out of me bio 504 or somthing like that had no problems posting within 5 second but ive tried every bios since but takes 30 seconds plus to post ive got the 9800 gx2 amd the blue light doesnt come on but all fans and stuff startthen the light and grapics/picture/post procces kicks in. not that bad but wait theres more even at stock voltagers everything on auto 80%of time will not boot will atke quite a few times restarting and full power of then 45% of the time just keep resetting for like 10-15 mins somtime with no luck/ please help me find out the anser please as it cant be hardware related because it boots first time everytime in 503 but have a q9650 so need to run over 1003
thanks in advance

lol I told you something was up with these boards and voltages. Asus should get a slap on the wrist.
Mine (at the moment, they change every time I flash the bios):
Vdimm:
2.00 = 2.06
2.02 = 2.08
2.04 = 2.10
2.06 = 2.12

I wish my Maximus II Formula came today. Oh well, I'll get it tomorrow.
1406 I test the bios an it can not read multip.. 9,5/10 over 450 fsb,but x9 is It ok an here can it read mem over 1200MHZ
i got a vcore drop in all bios = 0.1250v bot not in bios 1306 there it is 0.1000v all set
from 500 fsb to 511 fsb there is a drop,ASUS P5K got It to.
Martin.v.r
Did you test 1402 or 1402m (kets bios)
By the way you keep posting it as 1406 in your posts when it is 1402 and everytime you get me as i am like where is this 1406 he keeps posting about... :)
Important:
Also are you always using Official Bioes or Kets Modded ones ????
cann anyone tell help how to open new topic please thanks David
Thanks for the tensions guys. I got reads from one mate for 1306 @ 400x8 and after seeing ur reads it seems that each mobo overvolts different, maybe due to "made in Taiwan" or "made in china" ? I think Taiwan are better one.
Iīve seen there isnīt overvolt at minimun tension like auto with 1306.
sorry  yes It is bios 1402:D
more test,so successful it whit bios 1402 an multip 480x10 buut It ned Xtrem vcore :shakes: 1.488v bios set 1.500v, whit bios 0806 it is 1.4500v
hmm
made in Taiwan here ?
You're made in Denmark, Martin  jk
I think mine is made in China.
