That depends.. my RIIE is a POS, I have a board wall at 212 (213 3D starts getting funky), 214 and up no boot. I tried 5 CPUs already, 3 of which are Gulftowns that ran >230 on other RIIE's, just not this one :(
That's why I bought Karmakazi's E760, just waiting for Shamino to release the new bios with Q3QR support ;)
Gulftown is running hotter at the nb , look at the temp of yours and be sure the cooler has good contact , running 200-220 with a Q3QR and its 54 degrees at 1,20v bios set with waterblock instead of the aircoolblock heatpipe cooler still attached.
normal i7 is pretty cool but the water will give more stabillity at high bclock.(225+)

Dude, my NB temps are at 38C or so (Mips Fusion Block on it, and I swapped the stock TIM for MX-3) so that is not the issue. heck, I've tried 5 different CPUs, 4 ramkits, 3 VGAs, and a few bios versions - this (my) RIIE is just what it is, a POS clocker :shakes:Quote:

all three. but like jcool said mobo really plays the part.. suspect is the accuracy on the voltage being fed.

Having a little problems with the stability of oc aswell..
running a 920 d0 with dominator gt 2ghz cl8 using s224 bios..
computer is fully stable for gaming and normal stuff and passed 10x of linx on the s222 bios but now it will bsod within 5passes.. usually "IRQL_NOT_LESS_THAN_OR_EQUAL"
any ideas what to do??
temps in linx have never passed 56degrees celsius and pwms never passed 58c so its not temperature related..
I need pretty high vtt as well anything under +300mv will give BSOD 124 "general hardware failure" which indicates vtt voltage .. been trying alot of settings for both vtt and cpu, and on the s222 bios I used 1.3125v for cpu and it was stable.

jcool, i wouldnt call a 212 max bclock a pos board... but yes, its not what you expect from such an expensive board...
sounds like no pciE mod and/or bad memory timings? more relaxed trfc and rtl should enable higher bclocks in combination with higher pciE clocks...
RIIE doesn't need PCIe mods, it's the top-end OC board from Assus ;)Quote:

Stability av RAM and IMC plays a big role in high BCLK, but some BIOS seams to have better default values (or/and better options to adjust stuff ..) to get the RAM and IMC stable at high BCLk.

Oh, I see what you mean. If you are 24/7 stable at 215x21, then your Core will have no problem with running CPU-z at 216x21. This is a typical Uncore or IMC problem. You can diagnose the Uncore by trying it x12, or x14 (just to see if it helps)Quote:

211 - perfectly fine (at really low voltages too), 212 fine for 2D, slight FPS drops in 3D already, 213 ultra-slow-motion mode, usually won't even boot in under 5 minutes, no 3D performance to speak of left ^^
214 and above no post. Tried everything between 214 and 230, nothing. Raising the BCLK in WIndows doesn't workeither, it usually freezes at 214.
It just is a bad board I got (even though a brand new one with Rev. 13 NB), I've made my peace with that - and bought a pretested E760 :hrhr:

Hey guys i have this MB with an i7940 and sometimes for some reason when i start up the comp, its botting up, goes thru the intial start up etc etc and then it gets held up on the Pool Devices to be loaded up? So it will read out all the slots and info on the board and after that 2 pool devices should load up followed by dots after them and then bam VIsta64 should come on but it doesnt always do that. I have everything loaded up on defualt settings in the bios, i have the lates updated Bios flash. What could be the cause of the issue you guys think? I am running normal air cooled, no over clocked anything just yet i have a WC setup coming in. ANy help would be great !! or some type of settings in the bios? memory? PSU?

I just got my rma installed. I still get these electrical noises comming from the board. Its really annoying. Best way to describe it is open a chat window and hit backspace. Each time you hit the key its one click of the wheel on the mouse. Hold backspace down and thats how it is when I start a game. Why? I am ready to get my money back and try something a little less aggressive.
