Try using an older version (v6...) of AsusUpdate while @ stock clocks.
I know I know, AsusUpdate sucks, but in this case, it seems to be the best solution.
Just make sure you minimise the chances of it locking or crashing by running EVERYTHING @ stock!
Owki I´ll give it a try.
I also downloaded afudos 2.11, 2.17, 2.19, 2.21 to check if any of those work.
What settings?
I run my RAM (4x1GB - 2GB OCZ Reaper DDR2 1066 and 2GB Ballistix DDR2 1066) at 600 (DDR2 1200) 5-5-5-15-2T @ 2.25 volts no problem. Had to bump my NB volts from 1.57 to 1.62 to get it stable, but it works fine. OCCT beta is fricken awesome for testing the NB - RAM connection.
thanks for the info. are you noticing any performance increases with ram at 600MHz over, lets say 300-400MHZ?
has anyone here used the software the board came with ? Is the power button on the board handy ?
The power button is very handy. If however it feels like it's not working, hold it down or put a little more pressure than you'd normally require and it'll work. I think it's like a safety feature to not knock it and power on/off.
I just tried to install AsusUpdate v6.xxxx on Vista64 but it couldnt install it.
I hate to say this but i think Im stuck with this crap bios for now :)

Despite me ranting that my Prelude is working fine in the top PCI slot, this has happened while I have been out at work today. I have no clue to why or how but its now not working. I haven't done anything different!
WTF!!!!!!
I found this link for the flash archive:
ftp://ftp.asus.com.tw/pub/ASUS/mb/flash/
I have 6.0 beta if you want to try it
I can up it to fileshare or something or I can load it on my ftp
Is it a bios setting or what are you guys doing different to get sound card working in top slot ?
i didn't install the asus sound card, so do i have to disable anything apart from onboard sound in bios ?
I'm behind a router so enable /disable pasv
Here is a link to Asus Update 6.0 Beta

After about 25 reboots and changing 1 setting / reboot I´m good to go again.
Im still on 0902 but it seems to work now.
CPU: 450x8
RAM: 600Mhz (1200mhz ddr) CL 5-5-4-5-2-25 @ 2.15v
STRAP: 400Mhz
At last! Bleh @ this bios.
Hints: After the bios update I went into the bios. Told it to set default. Then i changed the strap to 400 -reboot-. 2nd change was mem ratio to 3:4 -reboot- Then i started playing with fsb and :banana::banana::banana:.
@Grnfinger: no go on both ftp attempt, and the http download.
I cant boot @ lower straps with this freq.

try this just tested and it working

Shawn, go into the preferences in Everest and down the bottom somewhere is a thing forn 3rd Party apps, go into that and tick the sensors you want to share.
Checked under:
-Preferences
-External Applications:
Enable shared memory must be checked
Enable writing sensor values to Registry unchecked
Enable writing sensor values to WMI unchecked
Is it easy to get 600MHz dram frequency with 4, 1 gig sticks using Corsiar PC8500 ram?
Anyone knows what is the average required NB voltage for 475 FSB on a quad core? And also vFSB?
Thanks :)
ordered on the 29th and my motherboard will be here tomorrow . motherboardpro ftw!!
I just ordered one of these on Monday and it Just arrived Today, I'm going to breakdown my system and replace my malfunctioning P5k Deluxe (grr SATA port issues) and see how far I can Push my B2 Xeon 3060, since my issues w/ the P5k eating all 4 sticks of my PC8500 balistix I hope I have better luck w/ the Maximus Formula
can someone tell me where to get this OCCT read out/report above?
couldn´t find this sheet after testing.
thx pushook
I wish someone would clearly answer this question as a lot of people are not finding Ram voltages.
All I know is that you start everest, go to preferences go to:
-External Applications:
Enable shared memory must be checked
Enable writing sensor values to Registry unchecked
Enable writing sensor values to WMI unchecked
There is no option for dram voltage. There is no option for dram voltage charts.
So, I tried the Auto setting and it seems to fix the problem of those huge voltage drops, but I'm still working on it. I got my system at 420x9 at 1.45 volts
for those now just getting the board
here's a repost of the link to occt beta.
http://www.ocbase.com/download.php?fileext=beta
yup.
http://www.tomshardware.com/forum/24...cct-test-error
codes 1,2,3,6: calculation error, bad for you
codes 4,5: OCCT memory management error (bad for OCCT)
codes 7 and 7+: OCCT bugs
thx, i have read it and checked the boxes but i only get charts from everest not like this shown above from "shawn".
i think i have also problems with my rams and i would figure out if its the big vdrop.
my sys is running @ 420x9 and is not possible to be stable longer than 2hours. It´s only OCCT stable. And this is curious!!
I have 2x1G corsair XMS2-8500 rig but it´s not possible to run @ this oc @ 200/266/333 strap the only way to be OCCT stable is @ 400 strap with 840Mhz. 1051Mhz is not bootable. my goal is to stay @ 420x9 Prime stable but for me its like a wall.:shakes:
Here's a screenshot for reference:
thx zucker2K, i forgot to take the settings in OCCT with everest^^
@ warboy look at this site:

That´s my dram report with OCCT: (similar to warboys)
Hi, 0903 ftp://ftp.asus.com.tw/pub/ASUS/mb/so...ula/MF0903.zip coming out thick and fast...
Chris
Bios 0903 Beta out now.
Official not released!!! File are from Asus direct user support.
http://www.serverside.ch/asus/MAXIMU...rmula-0903.zip
Problem solved: Temperatur display to high
Use at your own risk.
Didn`t tried it yet, but I never had these tempproblems. For me, nothing will change at temp. But another user from forumdeluxx.de tested it and replied that his temp hasn`t changedm, too.
There is no other feedback now, but I will check the thread every few hours.
Any one is able to do 4:5 without probs on this board?
yeap.
with transaction booster relaxed to L1.
cannot boot with TB at auto etc etc.
These bios are showing up rather quickly. That's a good thing if they finally get things fixed. I'll stay on the 0602 bios until they do.
I've noticed strange problem with this mobo - when I touch voltage regulation for CPU, when I set another value than AUTO my machine doesn't even boot :/ . It happens even when I leave all other values on def. settings :/ I've tried bios from 0402 to 0902.
Has anyone noticed this problem??
From bios 0602 I haven't noticed vDrop :) Voltage Calibration is working :)
Here are a few pictures of my bios problem:

Last one is my desktop at 2560X1600. Bios images are doubled like that with single GPU as well as Crossfire setup.
I can only see bios at a cold boot, after temps rise, just a blank black screen until desktop shows up. Very strange.
Static control disabled and AI twister light/moderate.
the next best thing to 4:5 is 5:6 in formula due to my tests..
if you have a very strong DDR2 kit you should go then to 2:3.
i prefer 5:6 with performance level 7,static control enabled, twister moderate and TB auto.
What happen GunslingerOCS?
I have no idea, I have support emails in to ASUS and ATI, but no response yet. Was hoping someone here may have seen something like this before.
i use 1.45Vmch and 1.42Vfsb for 450..
so i bit higher i guess..
try 1.5-1.52Vmch and 1.46-1.5Vfsb.
HMMMM, 0902 was pulled from ASUS download site and 0903 did nothing for me.
Got mine in the mail today !!!! woot woot
Get ready for a :banana::banana::banana:load of questions guys.
I don't know if it is GPU problems, in Crossfire they just broke 20K in 3DM06 with CPU only at 3.67. I will try your suggestion though
Both bios 0901 and 0902 have been removed from the Asus FTP...maybe Asus realised they were troublesome?
i guess i`ll go back to 0802 until sth nice gets out..
I'm on 0903 now, I'll give it a few days Folding time, see how it works and then give a judgement on it, probably Sunday evening...ish!
It doesn't like the OC Profiles from other bios, even 0901, if you try to use it, it saves to CMOS, reboots and loads all AUTO everything... :P Set it all again manually and now it works!
I'll post my profile later if you guys like? I can post the actual CMOS profile?
I didn't have this issue loading OC defaults from profile. I had done so comming from 0902 though, so maybe that's the cut-off point.
I think 0902 is the cut of point.
Well I'm going back to 0901 because 0903 just lost me a moderate overclock, let alone a high one... WHAT THE :banana::banana::banana: ARE ASUS PLAYING AT RIGHT NOW?!!!?
This the last Asus board for me. I've never experienced such bad bios' on such good boards as with my Striker Extreme and this Maximus Formula...
I'm going to stick with Abit or DFI from now on, at least they get things right more often than Asus and their backwards bios'!!!!
Yeah, if there was extra money in my pocket I'd consider picking up a DFI X38 just to see how it compares.
with 4:5 or 2:3?
Either...
But its still benches high...

Guys could someone please direct me to Free Cable Guys article on the GTL voltage options in Bios so I can find out more what they do.
Thanks
I am having no problems with 0902 by the way but are you guys of teh opinion that 0802 clocks higher. I have only had my board like 2 days and I have been trying to reda this thread but their really is too much to take in.
May it be bios issue or mobo failuire?
From bios 0602 I haven't noticed vDrop :) Voltage Calibration is working :)
Well so far so good for me on 0903. I have a managed to push my system past the point where it fails in 0902, without touching any voltage except adding a .025v to the vcore and gaining 10mhz, OCCT testing going good so far.
I will push it a little further and see results. Might also do a little fsb test.
no 0903 replaced them
ftp://ftp.asus.com.tw/pub/ASUS/mb/so...ula/MF0903.zip
it's been working since 0505. Where have you been?
edit: speedstep is now in the bios it wasn't in 0901 or 0505. 0901 & 0505 only had C1e 0903 has both. I'm running occt on my 0901 3.6Ghz oc settings.
If I can't get 3.2 GHZ Stable I'm returning it and getting a DFI P35 UT Board. Hopefully I could keep this bad boy !!
Welp I'm in process of re-assembling my system w/ the Maxmius Formula instead of the P5k delxue but the back plate for my aerocool dominator is stuck to the old board so I'm going to have to replace it w/ something different, I can pickup a Thermaltake V1 or a Tuniq Tower for around 55-60 right now @ microcenter, any idea which would be a better choice? or should I just bite the bullet and order a TR Ultra 120ex + Sflex 1600rpm fan for around 80 shipped and wait?
I'm loving this board compared to the P5K Premium. I'm on 0901 and this thing is stable with my Q6600 G0 @ 3420MHz on air. The only thing holding me from pushing further is the ambient temperatures here in Adelaide at the moment.
I think all you people RMAing your boards for one reason or another is the reason we have the latest BIOS limiting everyone elses potential. I was happy with 0901 and was stable at 3.97Ghz. This F*cker wont even post now. I'm sticking with older BIOS...
I just got off the phone from Asus.
I was calling in regards to the problem I had a few days ago with bios 902.
I asked the tech guy what was the deal with removing bios 902?
He flat out denide the removal of the bios, I then mentioned 701 and 901.
His response was vague, so me being an a$$hole and my love for a good fight, I asked for a supervisor.
I then repeated everyhitng to him, and them mentioned I had to goto online forums for help and I found it pathetic that they could not help me, that there course of action was to blame my ram and RMA the board.
So they are offering me the Maximus Extreme if I send the SE back.
