yep thats exactly wat i have done,
bought the G.Skill 2x2gb PQ sticks :)
also i did use memtest86+ but yeh its the one thats on the ultimate boot cd.. whichever version that loads up by default

I'm having pretty good success running 4x1GB Crucial Ballistix on this board. I'm running ~1100MHz, 5-5-5-12 at the moment, which appears to be memtest stable. Still testing my CPU though. I'm at 458x8 right now.
Ok just got this board setup to replace my p5k deluxe which died. With my two ballistix I get a C1 error. When i try to boot and with one of them I get the C1 error when it is by itself the other I do not. Dead stick most likely? I did set the timings and voltages manually in the bios.
Hm.. What's a "normal" FSB wall to hit with quad core on this board? Mine seem to crap out at around 460MHz, which is a bit annoying. Prime locks up within a few secs at 462x8, while 412x9 has been going now for a while. Any settings I should look at changing?
its most likely a dead stick when i put in my ballistix from my dead p5b-deluxe it wouldnt boot, rmaed it and put in the new sticks and it boots fine without any errors.
also is the vdroop on this board that bad? on my p5b i only had to set 1.45v to get my e6600 stable at 3.6 but on this board i had to set it at 1.48. i dont have a multimeter so i cant really see what the "real" voltages are but uguru jumps from 1.46ish idle to 1.42/1.45 load.
Blah, anything over 460FSB is definitely a no-go on this setup. After 455 things start getting flakey, but anything below seems stable. CPU does 3750MHz at my current vcore, so that's not the problem. Is this a normal wall to hit with a quad? Anything I can do about it? My goal was 462 FSB for around 3.7GHz with memory at a 5:6 ratio for around 1110MHz. So far I've established that both CPU and memory will do these frequencies fine, but and mentioned the motherboard appears to be holding me back.
i say that you are very close to the top end of a Q6600.
you need to post all your voltages that you are using and what higher voltages you tried to support a higher overclock.
i see that you are using 4 x 1Gb sticks...probably that is your problem from going any higher.
Just got this board today for a q6600 setup. Test hook-up & all is working, although WinXP 64bit wouldn't install (blue screen). Vista 32 did though, for now.
So... anyone actually make a custom PWM waterblock yet? ;)
Well, I don't think it's the memory. I've tried 1:1 for lower frequencies, and the same thing happens. I've tried 2x1GB too, and it's still the same. Also, the memory passes endless hours of memtest at 1110MHz, 4x1GB, 5-5-5-12.
Anyway, here's the voltages I'm using at the moment:
http://img401.imageshack.us/img401/350/voltagesta3.jpg
Some of the may be artificially high right now as I'm testing things. These voltages gave me 12 hours+ of prime stability at 452x8, memory 5:6 (1084). I think I can do these CPU frequencies with lower vcore, but I haven't tried lower yet.
Guys, I need some help.
Like a week ago when I was unpacking some rar-files on one of my harddrives the entire computer froze and I had to reboot after which I kept getting CHKDSK saying that there was something wrong with the disk. That went away after like 10 reboots but now everytime I browse that HDD or try to run like HDTACH on it everything freezes again. When I check the Event Viewer there's alot of errors called iaStor which are the AHCI drivers, something about them not responding within the set time.
So, I thought it was the HDD that was dying, but nooo.. I've tried reformatting it and it didn't help, I've also tried using IDE instead of AHCI emulation within BIOS but I couldn't even get passed POST, everything would just freeze and I had to reboot.
Then I disconnected one of the harddrives (got 2 500gb samsung and a raptor) and boom, I got passed POST again when having the disks set to IDE.
So far I've narrowed it down to possibly the motherboard, cause if I have SATA-ports 1-4 occupied I can't get passed POST, but if I take for example the disk in port 3 and move it to port 5 I get passed POST. I still get hangups within Windows though, when running like HDTACH or trying to extract a file. Now the other samsung-drive is getting CHKDSK errors aswell and one folder isn't accessible cause it's broken or something.
Today I'm gonna low format the first disk and try to reinstall windows with just the raptor and that one samsung disk connected and see if I can pass HDTACH tests without everything freezing.
Do you guys have any idea of what the problem might be?
EDIT: The raptor disk passes HDTACH tests and never makes the system hang, it's only the samsung disks. Also, I have a SATA-dvdburner, that's why I've got 4 SATA-ports occupied ;)
if you are using the psu in your sig (not a psu issue), I would suggest giving your Sb voltage a small increase.
Well after messing around for a while my second stick started working (don't ask me how) and now the board is all set up and the os is installed. I love the board layout and hopefully the bolt mod will allow me to get back to the 3.7 I was running 24/7 on my p5k deluxe.
as far as i know...a dvd drive is not a hard drive...i made a suggestion to help and you question it...you can either try it or continue your diagnostics to figure out your problem....personally, sounds like one of your samsung drives is not playing nice, nice.
I tried it, and I still got errors in the Event Viewer. Atleast it doesn't freeze at POST anymore, gonna low format one of the drives then install XP with hdd's set to IDE and try again.
Thanks. What exactly is the ICHIO voltage? What does it do?
My objective is to obtain an overclock of 3.7GHz with a 8x multiplier, Prime stable. I know Prime stability doesnt nnecessarily mean much, but I can't get peace in my soul without knowing it's P95 stable, haha. Old habit's hard to change, I guess.
My problem as it is now isn't Prime stability though. My system just freezes if the FSB frequency is too high, ie, over 450MHz.
Thanks for your suggestions and tips, by the way. Greatly appreciated.
ICHIO 1.5 is your SB input/ouput...the ICH 1.05 is the core voltage of the SB...the ICHIO is more important than ICH...in fact...you can probably cut back the ICH back to 1.05v
EDIT:..my suggestion is to max out ICHIO and MCH...lower your FSB memory ratio to 1:1 and then start increasing vcore and FSB to see what you can do with P95...once you reach 3.7 and say P95 for an hour, you can start experimenting lowering your ICHIO and MCH down to see if you can still P95
Thanks, I'll try increasing ICHIO and see if that does anything. Right now I'm gonna let my system stay at the stable 450x8 for some Call of Duty 4 action! :) Imortant to remember using the system for what it's built for once in a while in between all the tweaking :P
It did work until I connected the second samsung drive, the errors in event viewer came back and it appears to be running in PIO mode and I can't change it to DMA. =/
Guess I'll low format the second drive aswell and hope for the best..
It seems unlikely that both drives would crash at the same time, so I'm still suspecting something else. :x
EDIT: ...Now the one I low formatted earlier started giving me errors again
Yes, I tried that with the one I low formatted first. It worked until I connected the second samsung drive and tried to backup some files, then the errors returned.
Another guess is that something went wrong on one drive and when I copied files from that one to the fully working one they screwed something up.
Yea, I've always installed windows on the raptor and it has always worked like a charm, it's only the samsung drives that're giving me errors.
I'm using BIOS 11.
I will try removing the soundcard for a few tests, but I doubt it's causing the problems because I have had this system up and running problem-free for a few months up until just recently. The problems started after everything froze when unpacking some .rar-files one day.
Thanks for all the suggestions btw
EDIT: What I mean when I said that I've tried running with only 1 hdd connected is one of the samsung hdds+the raptor, so really 2 hdds, it's when I have both samsung drives connected that problems occur.
awaiting your report.
my next thing to recommend if both drives are still causing problems is to upgrade the bios...i would go to the official 14 bios next.
I moved the samsung disk from port 2 to 6 and ran some tests, no errors. Then I moved it back from port 6 to 2 and guess what? No errors. Pretty weird.
When I then connected the second samsung drive, the one that started this mess from the beginning, I got errors. I'm guessing that's the problem for some reason, is it possible for a harddrive to be faulty even though the manufacturers diagnostics program shows no errors?
yes...you can have problems but it can also be caused by the bios in conjunction with the hard drive...think about upgrading the bios to the latest release which i think is 14 to see if that is any better....i am using beta bios 16...the link is back about 10-20 pages.
Yes, I'll do that! But I've actually had the system up and running problem free for a few months like I said a few posts back, it's seems unlikely that the BIOS would create a bunch of problems just out of nowhere after such a long time.
And, now I still get the errors even though I disconnected the second one I connected in the previous post...
I`m having some issues with this board and my wireless network-card. If I plug in the card it wont boot properly, it stays at post message 25. This is what the manual says about it:
Early PCI Initialization:
-Enumerate PCI bus number
-Assign memory I/O resource
-Search for a valid VGA device VGA BIOS, and put it into C000:0
Any ideas what to do about it? If I plug the card in after the board has passed 25 everything works fine.
Apart from this I like the board very much and im hitting nice speeds with it.
Max Fsb with Q6600 so far is 500, Spi 32 pass.
Nice chip also, how about 4300Mhz Air cooled? :)

Oh, forgot. Its PCI.
It´s a Belkin Pre-N F5D8000
gbglassen:
If Ace's suggestions don't work for you, and they may very well work, remove the card from the system - go to cmos and pnp/pci configuration - change from auto to manual but don't change and PCI settings - save the bios and power off as soon as the machine post. Install the card and power up and see if it will post now.
The machine isn’t posting because of address/irq conflicts being created by the wifi card that plug and play apparently can’t resolve for what ever reason. As Ace has stated more voltage on the bus may resolve the problem… In Award bioses there is a feature to “Reset Configuration Data” that would generally fix this problem but I don’t find a similar function in this bios…
Good luck with it…
Thanks for the tips guys, tried all of them already but nothing seems to work. have to get myself a new wifi card I guess:(
Ace-A-Rue: Thanks for the kind words:) need a to do some vmods to push this baby higher.

before giving up try the beta 16 bios just to make sure...that is a good bios...it allows changes to the bios without the puter shutting down which is/was an annoyance in my book.;)
here is beta bios 16Quote:

Hi mate,
did you solve your PIO trouble ?
I just got same issue with my system HDD ( got 5mo/s in HDtune insteed of the 55mo/s ???) I was in PIO mode and can't change the setting in windows or in bios .
After checking google I found the way to reactivate the UDMA mode :
GO in regedit and look after these key:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESYSTEM/CurrentControlSet/Control/Class{4D36E96A-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}00x
the ?00x is your supposed number for your PIO drive
when you found it , deleted it ( save it first if you want) and reboot, now all should be fine.
My first attempt was wrong drive number but at the second one I got success. I had to reinstall my intel chipset driver by the way.
In my case I have had to deleted the n°0002 , here is a picture of it:
http://pix.nofrag.com/3/f/8/06058c25...b652fcf4tt.jpg
Now, all seems to be fine.
Hope it solve your trouble too.
Hi guys.
2 problems here. (Q6600 and bios-14)
1. abit-guru utility don't show anything at all (latest version). All readings are zeros.
2. Coretemp 0.95.4 read only core 0, and coretemp 0.95 crashes the system.
still waiting patiently for an official ip35-E version 13 bios.
it seems as though one of my cores is disabled - in wprime it only shows 1 core and one thread and super pi takes a lot longer - where do I fix this?
HELPPPPP!!!!
could it be possible that a core died? as aqua mark and other benchies don't seem that good (as they were)
like this

so, what's proving to be better for quads and o/c...the ip-35 pro or the p5k premium?
here is the folder to download bios 13 for the IP35 and IP35-E.
it appears this is the newest release...Abit's USA website still shows bios 12 as the latest....always a good idea to go to the FTP site to check...their website is the last thing to get updated.
ftp://ftp.abit.com.tw/pub/download/bios/ip35/
hey guys could someone tell me what is the most current revision of the board?
Has anyone else had trouble with the onboard network adapters? I had one die a couple of weeks ago and after a reboot tonight the other one just didn't come back on. Lucky I had a PCI card in a drawer to put in, I guess.
possibly!
another thing to consider is either vista or your router.
I'm yet to have ANY problems with my board (touch wood) and using the latest 16. bios and I bought one of the very first in AU
often the beta BIOS sticky on the abit USA forums is the best place to get betas (after someone has been kind enough to supply us with a copy).
As a rule abit doesn't put betas on public ftps although it appears abit China sometimes does.
In terms of official abit final releases then the abit Taiwan site/ftp (usually the ftp is updated prior to them being linked on the site) is usually the best.
Hm, my USB ports stopped working after installing the latest chipset drivers, anyone else having this problem?
Don't know if this is the right place, but is abit ip35 pro related. Does anybody know if this mobo has a boot menu key?
Other mobos use F8 or F10 to select the drive from which you want to boot without entering bios.
@RAdoxx, yes, my USB ports quit working too. I found a solution on the internet that worked for me: go into Device manager and you should see 8 USB Root Hub items with yellow !'s next to them. Right-Click on each one and uninstall it. Then reboot. That worked for me and I hope it works for you. I'd like to see an "installation problem" sticky on this. Everything I've seen so far in my installation's been common. I had to go buy a 9 dollar PS/2 keyboard from Wal-Mart after I installed the chipset drivers...lol. Now I'm wading through the Bios flash do's and don'ts. Anyways, good luck!
Hi, me again, i just put together a new rig and i'm having some troubles, from time to time when i boot into win xp i receive a BSOD (STOP c0000145 Application error...), but this is very random and i cannot figure what is the problem.
Specs:
CPU: E6750
Ram: Corsair 2GB TwinX DDR2 PC2-6400 (2x1GB) CAS4
Mobo: IP35 PRO
Video: Leadtek 7800 GTX
Hdd: 1x 150 raptor, 2 x 320 seagate
Psu: Enermax Liberty 620w
I didn't oc anything yet. Any suggestions?
Thanks!
Hi, no, i did a fresh install, twice (for the first install i used the drivers from the begining of the this thread, second install the drivers from mobo cd, for video car i used 163.75 forceware), the problem is the same BSOD but only when xp loads or has finished loading. I can hear clicks at all my hdds. I ran a memtest no problem with ram, upped ddr voltage to 2.1 for stability. I don't know how to provoke this error could you suggest some software for stress test?
Thanks!
i think i killed by board. it shows me 8.7 and there is no voltage on cpu. is the cpu defectif so there is no vcore or is it the board?
i have soldered a readout on the board, if the smd of the readout would be burned -> board = dead ?
Hi, yes, normal sounds. There is one thing it does this BSOD after i have installed a program or a driver and i have to reboot. Can this be caused by the OEM version of XP?
I have a weird thing going on with acronis... I have the purchased cd which is bootable and also have created a acronis BartPE boot disc with the software... neither cd will boot.. even with all my boot priority devices in bios set to sata cdrom, it still boots to c: Vista. man, I purchased this thing for imaging the machine, but kinda hard when it won't even boot to the device to do it.
does this board support ddr2 8500? the 1066spd one?
its coming up on cpu-z as ddr2 6400 on cpu-z which is what i previously
had in the computer
Thanks.. well I tried defaults (fail safe and optimized). tried reset using the jumper switch.. set all my boot priority devices to sata cdrom.. it won't boot to the darn cdrom, just keeps booting to C:... even when the hd is nort selected as a boot device.
I just installed vista 64 2 days ago with a new raptor, and it booted fine to the vista cd. but now it won't even do that. so I'm fubarred if I need to run a repair or install vista again in the future. no cd boot. it doesn't even seek on post for it to boot. but the cd works fine once windows is up. this has to be a motherboard issue wherever it lies.
I originally thought for sure this was an acronis issue, but now that I've tried booting to the vista cd and it fails, I know where the issue is.. it's the mobo or bios.
EDIT: OK, I switched from sata port 3 to 4 and it boots to the cd now... go figure.. why in the heck sata 3 started not booting the cdrom in the past few days, when I've used it to install 3 os's on this pc in the past month. I don't know if the port itself is the cause, or switching ports caused bios to redetect.. whatever it's working now. imaging as I type on my x2 6000 pc.
Did some benching on the balcony the morning, upped my personal best on air a little. Really starting to like this board.

Hi, you are right, i tried retail version of xp, same thing, if the windows loads successfully it works like charm. I have ultimate vista 64 installed and had no problem. The BSOD appears only when xp is loading. I cannot figure what is the problem, maybe the psu is faulty.
Thanks!
