can anybody please confirm if you used this dominator series with this board ?
Corsair 12GB Dominator Series Memory Kit for Intel Triple Channel Memory Solutions with Corsair Airflow Fan - DDR3 2000MHz - 9-10-9-27 Latency (CMT12GX3M3A2000C9)
http://www.dandh.com/images/prodlarg...GX3M3A2000.jpg
also anobdy recommened 1600Mhz over 2000Nhz i read its better for OCing !!!!
combination of d14 and this corsair modules won't fit!
in my situation, i rotated the d14 by 90degrees so airflow is now pushed from the top of the case through the d14 down to the vga card. did not want to push hot air from the top of the vga card through the d14, so i decided to go the physically not so optimal direction.
anyway, in order to install the memory module in the 2nd slot of channel a, i also removed about 10mm of the bottom two fins of the d14 with a dremel!
have read reports from ppl who were able to install this combination (memory/hsf) but i was not able to do this here without the described modifications ...
pm me if you are interested in pics ...
Hi guys.
I am maybe considering buying the Kingston HyperX KHX2250C9D3T1FK3/6GX 2250MHz Triple Channel Kit to replace my current Corsair Dominator GT 6GB (3x2GB) DDR3 16000C8 2000MHz Triple Channel Kit
but before I decide, I was wondering if anyone knows how the good this memory is on performance and overclockability etc? and is it worth it over the Corsair Dominator GT memory I have already?
I have also read this ram has the same problem as the Corsair Dominator when using a Noctua NH-D14, and as far as i`m aware the fins on the Kingston can`t be removed like the Corsair ones, so i`m
wondering if there is any other way to use the Kingston HyperX 2250MHz memory when using the Noctua NH-D14?
I did have a idea of possibly cutting the heat sink fins on the Kingston HyperX down thought this wouldn`t damage them but would void the warranty as a lot of sites say the hight of the heat sink fins
are a bit overkill anyways but should I do this?
Thanks for responding.

Hey thanks for sharing, actually I'm upgrading the system and I'm watercooling the new build (CPU n video cards ) infact I got all of the new build parts n I'm also selling my Kingston 1333mhz n planning to get something better, I was thinking either corsair Dom gt 2000mhz or the dom 1600mhz cause the current one I have is 1333mhz 9-9-9-24 max vol is 1.5v best latency i was able to get from it is 8 8 8 22 with 1450mhz it's the last part I have after selling all the previous build
My plan is to get decent dimms with 1.65v n at least 1600mhz 8 8 8 24 to be able to overclock the new 980x
I can try to work with the Kingston Ram on the asus rampage iii ex n the 980x for now but as I mentioned I am hopping to get the best 12gb 3x4g available that's why I was wondering if anybody using the ram above on the board already
Once again .. Thanks for sharing
The heatsinks on the kingston are bigger then on the corsair gt's..I would not cut the heatsinks..
Here is some info on this ram

Awesome !! Thanks for that, Low latency with high frequency, problem is, finding a memory from Kingston or even corsair that is 12g ( not 6g)to achieve something close to that gonna be hard, I believe the 12g (3x4g) dominator 1600mhz can run at 8 8 8 24 and easy 1.65v .. Also Kingston produced a hyper x model which is similar to the corsair's ram ... question is, is there any memory can do better that with 3x4g on this board ? From my understanding! It's not possible to see large 12g with high frequency that could at least run at 7-7-7-22 or close so far
Correct me if im wrong, Would love to see more feedback
I’m having some trouble with the memory detection on my system, and I need some help.
I have trawled the net in search of a resolution and I have tried various things listed below.
Unfortunately they have had no effect, so I’m looking for some suggestions, I do however have a feeling that the motherboard could be faulty.
I am also encountering the problem with the CPU temperature reporting only sometimes working.
Problem
Bios and windows only seeing 2GB of the 3GB of memory.
CPU-Z sees all 3 sticks of memory.
System installed without problem and runs fine even though some memory is not detected
Each memory stick passes memtest OK individually
i haven't encountered this before, i've tried to flash to the latest 1005 bios, but it seems not working too..
any idea..?
In CPU-Z under the memory tab, which # Slots (out of the 6) are occupied by memory?
I have had this issue of memory detection and it was simply a problem with the way the CPU was seated. The first time I ever put together my R3E rig it fired up perfectly with 6GB ram. I switched coolers and for some reason decided to pull out my 920...D'OH! After putting it back in and turning system on Bios detected a new CPU was installed, and bam only 4088MB showing. I noticed though that in CPU-Z when you're having memory detection problems it shows the memory installed in the first three slots (#1, #2, #3) instead of #1, #3, #5 (for 6GB). As soon as this happened I had a strong feeling it was an improperly seated CPU. Just after finishing putting it all together perfectly (I'm a perfectionist) I had to pull off the cooler again to re-seat the CPU. But afterward all 6136MB were being detected and never had that issue reoccur.
I think you're best bet is to re-seat the CPU. I know, it's a :banana::banana::banana::banana: but what are you gonna do..
Yes. I think I have the problem same as you are. CPU-Z detects my rams in slot (1-2-3 instead of 1-3-5). But, as you said that you have changed the cooling hsf, maybe you have accidentally moved/touched the cpu to an incorrect position..but for my case, i have never change/ replaced the cooling solution. Sometimes, i do get BSOD too..
@acebaran
i have cleared the cmos( doing all the steps you have mentioned, plus i even took out the batt), but is still doesn't work for me
If that is the case, i'll try to take out the cpu and do some cleaning..
I just dumped my GTX 295 + GTS250 (for PhysX) for a pair of EVGA Superclocked GTX 480s - Im well happy
I thought they were supposed to be noisy? No worse than the GTX295 for sure.
Really enjoying gaming with these - at last a super smooth gaming experience with Just Cause 2 and Crysis Warhead all maxed out. Been playing games like mad all evening - room feels like a furnace! :D
No power to second card in the pictures
Anyone have any settings for 1600mhz on CMT6GX3M3A1600C7 s? They are basically 1600 C7 Dominator GTs.
Phew glad you remembered :)
The 480 is a beast of a card. The nickel plated heatpipes sticking out the side of the 480's reminds me of tubular headers on a car :p. What was the stock VID on both of them?
Also how do you like that soundcard?
Pics look amazing by the way very professional ;)
can someone give me some tips to pass 222bclk wall on my r3e ?
i have tryed 3 cpus and all blocks at 222-223....i really want to hit 230.
i ahve tryed w and w/o slow mode but nothing changes!!
110
i have tryed a 2x 920 and a 980X...all walls at 223...it's the board...
Thanks :D
One card is 1.074 and the other 1.084. They’re running at 725, 1451, 1900 but I have no plans to overclock further - my 850w Corsair HX PSU probably wouldn’t be happy about me pushing them! The original plan was to buy them with the EK water blocks, but I’m not in any rush to watercool them now as they’re not as loud as I was expecting.
The Soundcard is an Asus Xonar D2X which is great - I fully recommend it. Had a Creative X Fi card for about 3 years, and it would suffer from random crackle & pops in XP, Vista and 7, so I gave up with it and grabbed the Xonar and I'm very happy.
I'm very happy with the Rampage board too, its been easy overclock to 4.3Ghz with the 930 so I think I'll be sticking with this setup for quite a few years now.
Hi
Has anyone set up RAID0 on SATA3 with this motherboard & Crucial C300 64GB drives.
I have been looking around but I am reading conflicting opinions regarding the Marvell controller.
I thought I would ask you good people, as you all have such a vast knowledge of this motherboard & I need educating.
Thanks in advance.
Ive run C300s on the marvell for a while, ok for gaming but the controller cant keep up with the throughput for big number benches, I ended up with 2 128 gb C300s on the intel and just one C300 64 gb on the marvell as a stand alone non raid boot drive.
using just 1 ssd on the marvell seems to be fine.
other ppl here may give different advice but I have actually tried both !
cheers and good luck
Rick
I agree...
RAID 0 on the Marvell Runs slower than a single drive... I'm Running the same thing as above poster... 2 Crucial Nova 128's in 0 on the Intel, and a Single OWC 240gb Drive w/Sandforce controller on the Marvell, and I'm getting really good speed.
Best,
Roydrage
http://www.snackstuff.com/drivebenchmark.jpg
Thanks fmsam & RoydRage for your input.
Do you think I will be better off just getting a C300 128GB version as my win7 drive and having the 64GB version for a few extra games.
No more Bios updates ? >_<
You mean a Crucial Drive Right? The only Sata III ssd out right now?
I would forget about those right now... The Write speeds suck Ass... 140mb?
Writing is just as important your better off getting a Force Series Corsair or similar... I have an OWC and Muskin makes a nice Drive that also uses the Sandforce controller.... OCZ does but I always found their products very inconsistant... I and used there stuff 10 years ago.
If you use the samsung or any of the Inilinix controllers you will run into severe slowdowns from Block contamination. The sandforce controllers have a block leveling feature... OWC calls it Durawrite that tidys up after itself.
It's better to put your Boot drive on the largest partition you can, and it won't slow down so fast cause it will always have a new place to write where blocks don't have any fragments left in them... It also increases the life of the drive as you arent erasing blocks needlessly.
I have 2X128gb RAID 0 for my Boot drive, and only have 70 of the 256gb used... That is good. And I use the OWC 240gb drive for my Games and Photoshop Sratch disk... Also I burn an ISO image of the games disk, and mount it using virtual clone drive... This way the game starts up Super fast, and I don't need a disk to play it... *Note you will need to install the game from this image/Virtual Drive.
I also have a 1TB WD Black Caviar for Archieve storage, and I keep my paging file on it as well... Since it's on a different controller, it really stops interference with your read writes, and saves wear on the SDD's as well!
Best,
Royd RAGE
Wellll. high density chips are not at their peak now.. I think your best bet is to just pick out 2 3x2gb kits at 2000. I like the corsair ones, but without a 980x with the 1.5x uncore multiplier, you're going to be having some really hard times with QPI voltage.
I have had my R3E for quite some time now and im very happy, atleast after i updated the bios to 1102 :D
Now to my question, im thinking about getting a 3rd GTX470 and run a tri way sli setup.
Is my Coolermaster Silent Pro M1000 enough to run 3 GTX470 and a i7 930 overclocked to 4.2GHz (21x200 1.4V).
Second of all, the manual says to use slot 1,3,4 for tri way, but the bridge they added in the motherboard package suggests 1,2,3, any thoughts around this?
If the PSU i have aint enough, what should i go with? AX1200 seems to have alot of issues still even though some have been fixed in later batches.
lowfat & RoydRage
Thank you both very much for taking the time to help me.
I now think it could be a change of direction for me & go with Raid0 using OCZ Vertex 2E 120GB drives on SATA2.
I have a problem with my config, I have the computer freeze, often
I tested the OC with HyperPI 32M, LinX, OCCT, etc... is good (@stock is the same, while AUTO in the bios)
I tested the SSD Intel X25-E with the Intel Toolbox, no problem
what I could try to find the problem?
freeze it at any time, in IE, FF, Windows, etc. ...
bios 0011 and I feel that it may come long after the shift to 970 and ram @2000 (Dominator GT 2000 C7), I had a 920 before and the same ram but @1600
thanks ;)
1102 is newest @ the moment
i telephoned with asus germany the last 5 mins and they told me that 1102 is an alpha not an beta and it tooks a longer time for the next stable release bios
great..............
this is an internal bios changlog there you can see there are some days without working on bios see the right site

Changing out my old Motherboard for a R3E produced these results with my Vertex SSD's (on an LSI controller)
The best I could ever reach with an old nvidia based motherboard
http://db.tt/4UluWbG
New R3E board with same windows install
http://db.tt/y3KylxW
I can't imagine the results upgrading to 120GB vertex's would bring !
Meanwhile, Boy am I happy :)
R3E Rocks!!
Had no problem booting to this. But it seems that my keyboard and mouse intermittently dropping out. Can't say I've ever had an problem with an overclock like that. Hell it even ran a few minutes of folding@home and did not crash.
http://img820.imageshack.us/img820/5936/capturemv.jpg
When experiencing a freeze the first thing I check is the memory http://www.memtest.org/ then video card (swap it out for another old card), also your SSD may be an issue (try using a HDD for a while)
I just installed my REIII last night with a new i7 930 and no matter if I am running stock or overclocked, Vcore is blank in CPUZ.
Anyone have this problem or know why it's happening?
Still can't figure out why vcore doesn't show in CPUZ.
Just got everything put together last night and had some time today to play. Was able to get 4.2Ghz 21x200 and 4.4Ghz 21x210 LinX 5 runs stable but wanted to see how far I could push this new 930.

Did you happen to do any memory benchmarks at that clock of 4.6ghz and memory at 2200MHz 8-8-8-24? When you get the time do you think you can run a Everest or AIDA64 memory benchmark? I'd love to see how it compares to hypers at 2000MHz 7-7-7-20.
Excellent overclock btw
So what voltage are you using there?
i have a fixed version of cpu-z 1.56
that problem occurs to ppl who have an ROG Board,an official update will come in some days/weeks
I love this Board! I could not get over 217bclk on my P6T Deluxe V2 and it also throttled at anything over 4Ghz. Was able to lower my SuperPI and wPrime32M times by going up to 21x222. Vantage keeps crashing in CPU Test 1 with 101 code which means it needs more vcore. I pushed it up to 1.53v but still crashes with 101 code. I am done with max clocks for today, going to work on lower volts for my 24/7 overclock, 21x210.

The 31ns latency is probably because you lost/dropped a memory channel while trying over 2200mhz, it was probably running in dual channel despite what everest shows. At least thats what happened to me, a couple guys pointed it out when I posted in another thread. Second run was at higher mhz but didnt drop/lose a channel so latency was higher. Last run was trying cas6.

Indeed, with my settings stable "LinX" etc. ... Memtest86 + (4.10) does not start, I was forced to put the vDIMM 1.667v (stable at 1.65V) and vQPI to 1.367 (stable at 1.35V)
with ram to 2000 and in 3800 uncore
in h24, put uncore to 3600 is affected or not (affects the performance)?
thanks ;)
2200+MHz on hypers with tRFC 8 is sick, excellent job deachus and OC Nub
Thanks deachus for posting the memory benchmarks and OC Nub as well.
I too at first was shocked at the absurdly low latency of 30ns, but like you said the issue with one of the channels dropping seems to explain that. 35.6ns seems more realistic, and still insanely fast
Deachus, what was your Uncore for the 6-6-6-18 clock?
OC Nub, it seems you dropped a channel when you ran the memory at 8-8-8-24, but not at 8-8-8-20? Or is that also supposed to be 8-8-8-24 and AIDA64 is just buggin out?
Has anyone else being able to make it to 231bclk with or without slow mode? I haven't used slow mode yet but anything over 231blck usb starts to work intermittently. At 231blck it is pretty bad but the system is still useable. 232blck usb is off more than it is on. Just curious if anyone has had this and how they resolved it. I have cranked the PCIe up to 112 but it wasn't any better than it was @ 105.
The wierd thing is that 230 blck has no such issues.
Thanks!
I am still pushing it, just out of time for now, have a 8 month old boy so endless days and nights of overclocking is on hold for now. Will give it another go later tonight.
I will have to check if a channel is dropping out next time. I usually notice that because it will only show 4GB in Task Manager. Will check on next run.
Uncore @ 3786 ~ 6-6-6-18-1T @ 1683
Uncore @ 4446 ~ 8-8-8-24-1T @ 2223
Looks like you got a very good board. Mine would flake out after 215 and the same thing would happen, usb keyboard would turn on and off, mostly off, or it just wouldnt boot. But slowmode allowed me to boot at 236-237 no issues. Im curious to see how well your board does with slowmode seeing how well it does without having to use it.
I've never used slow mode before on any board. But I just tried it (without changing any other settings) and it would lock up during windows loading.
so it's not the settings for Memtest68+, I again tested with the parameters stable with LinX, etc. ... Memtest86+ starts and no errors
My impression is that it comes from adjustments Round Trip Latency (in AUTO in the bios), the values change with time
thanks ;)
Hello!
sorry for not reading thru 135 pages but please anyone can help my why none of my 5970's boots in my R3E's 3rd and 4th pcie slot? both cards are good in slot 1 - 2 but none of them boots in 3 or 4. vga led lights near eatxpwr.
my 4870 just boots fine in every slot. tried plug ez plug 2 but no sucess. 5970 still does not work...
^^ Maybe the PCI-E slots have been turned off from the dip switches by the ATX power connector by mistake.
Best to check them first.
Cheers
Thank you guys for your advices but I tried everything
two molex 4 pin plugged, 5970's in slot 1 - 3 - crossfire not runing
none of the 5970's is runing in slot 3 or 4 with 2 plugs hooked and pcie switches on .... vga led lights and no signal.
my 4870 512 just runs fine in slots 3 or 4 so not pcie slot broken
Here they are, my current folding settings, stable, but still testing and trying out other combinations.

At 40.5v i dont see why not
Still nothing... Maybe if I raise it to 60V? :ROTF:

Nope. My 970 worked at 4.3 at similar settings.
Actually Disabled, but if I Enable it and change nothing, it doesn't matter.
Tell the most stable BIOS for matherboard...
:d:d
Very nice.:D
How is QPI PLL controlled on r3e? I couldn't find a setting for it...
Note, this is not the QPI/DRAM/VTT voltage. This is the voltage for the driving pll.
I have one think about this popular question, is very personal, but, i think the best bios for u, only u can know it, because, maybe one bios work perfectly with my combination of hard ( motherboard, cpu , memory ) and maybe with your hardware is not really good, or other bios works better, so , if u can try the bios your self, i think this is the best !

Having issues with my new Build, i7 980X, Rampage III Extreme, 12Gb of Gkill RAM.
My problem is, with overclocking and stabilizing the system.
I've tried using the following: Prime95, LinX and Cinbench 11.5
Cinebench works always, (its quick)
Prime95 runs for hours (longest run was 9.5 hours)
Runs from 3333 all the way to 4300 without errors, after tuning
LinX, works something and yet not others.
On some boot it runs at 81Gflops, other times 51Gflops, this is regardless of the CPU/Memory speed, in fact at:
4200 with Memory at 1728MHZ, it does 81 on some reboots, when it does this LinX will run without issues for 20 runs, if after a reboot it is 51Gflops, then it normally dies with in 3 runs. This without change options only rebooting. In both cases Prime95 runs for hours without issues.
Cinebench shows no change in performance when I run it no matter the speed of LinX.
So I'm confused if it is a LinX issue, a MB issue or what as I am at a loss to understand why LinX only works sometimes and then returns far better results then when it does not work, when nothing has changed that should affect performance.

I was able to push the blck a little further tonight. Lowered my Wprime32M, SuperPI 1M and 32M times. I have reached CL8 max mhz as it doesn't scale any further with vQPI or vDIMM. SuperPI and wPrime32M were faster when I changed strap to DDR3-1795 from DDR3-2244 and tightened timings.
I was able to get Vantage to pass video tests with 5870 at 1055/1325 but blue screen 101 vcore shortly into first CPU test. I tried raising but still crashed. I'm still working on that one:cool:

Nice results mate! Have you try running them setting in Hyper pi 0.99b!
Hello
I have an Adaptec Scsi controller PCI-E 1x card that i would like to add to my PC.
It worked fine on my Asus P6T Deluxe v1 Motherboard.
But not on my Rampage III Extreme with 1005 bios, or any other bios for that matter...
I've tryed to disable all onboard controllers... USB3 etc etc.
The PC runs fine thrugh post and scan for SCSI drives.
But when it then should go into bios or boot windows there is just a black screen - and nothing happens.
I've head about this issue before on the Rampage II motherboard. And there the solutions seamed to be wating for a new bios?
Here at my curse i dont have the model number of my SCSI controller, but ill get that as soon as i get home.
Best Regards
