Does anybody know when the ex58a-ud5 refresh will be available? I am holding out for some SATA 6Gbps.
OK, I have managed to get into Vista @ 4.4GHz on my rig, although my ram is only running @ 1260MHz...
I have tried all evening to get it running @ 1600, but it just isn't happening for me at all...
Maybe it has something to do with the fact that i only have two slots working??
Oh, and in order for me to get into Windows, I had to loosen the ram timings up to 9-9-9-24-2T... I tried 8-8-8-24-2T but it would BSOD straight after the Vista loading bar finished...
I have already talked with Corsair a few weeks ago, and they did tell me I could get my modules replaced.. though I will wait and see what happens with the new mobo when it comes tommorow...
Here is my CPU-Z validation for 4.4GHz...

I am just going to try 10 passes of IBT with this o/c..

Hey guys, is 1.3750v alot for a 3.2 920 C0 ?!
Guys, does it worth getting W3520 over my i7 920 which can do 4GHz with 1.28v?
My 920 D0 does that near enough. As said its totally up to you but i cant see the point as you have no proof you will get one like the post above.
Anyone here done testing with 920 D0 & ud5 in terms of voltage requirements with different multipliers?
Right now I'm running my :banana::banana::banana:ty batch D0 at 200x20 and it needs 1.4V in bios (stressed 1.344 in cpu-z)
I'm starting to wonder if I could lower the vcore with a different multi while keeping ~4 GHz
anyone tried the F8E BIOS yet?
F8E here. Worse than F8C IMO.
So guys, what settings do you recommend for a 200 BCKL?
REMEMBE, I HAVE A C0 !!
Tried the F8e again. But no luck its totally unstable on a bit higher voltage settings. So its back to the F7 for me. That works like a charm on low voltages. 100% rock solid.
Ok....I'm lost for words now, just... wtf =o
Just put turbo back on, dropped bclk to 191 and started dropping vcore & qpi/vtt to see how low I could go and still boot/stay stable and honestly I'm :banana::banana::banana:ing speechless here going "wtf?"
With turbo off & bclk at 200 the only way to get pc to boot was putting qpi/vtt at 1.375 (or around that, forgot exact number) and only way for OCCT/Linpack complete their runs was to put vcore at 1.4
I just kept dropping and dropping and dropping to reach 1.255 qpi/vtt and it boots fine, vcore is at 1.3 V and I just completed 10 minutes of OCCT & Linpack.
All I changed since the 1.375 / 1.4 is putting turbo back on along with a lower bclk and different ram sticks.
Anyone here got an explanation for this?
ps :
Yes I know 10 minutes doesn't show it's 100% stable (not even close) but with x20 multi (turbo off) it wouldn't even boot with these voltages so huge improvement!
On most CPUs, 19x and 21x are more stable than 20x. Known i7 fact!
If its a D0, you should be able to go even lower on vcore and vtt. Three D0 chips that I have gone through could do 21x191 without any voltage change. Just turn turbo on, set BCLK to 191, set memory voltage to 1.65 and timings to stock manually and you are good to go!
You should be able to work with 1.25vcore for 4Ghz.
This is maybe the wrong place to ask, i use a UD4P mobo now with a Pc power and cooling 1200w.
But if i touch the Atx24-cord a little the pc shut downs. Ithink its bad connection on the atx24 plug, but does someone knows what i have to do to fix it or should i ignore it?
I can lift the psu up and down and the atx24-cord, it only happen when the atx24-connection moves.
Tonight I have been experimenting with some of the Beta Bios. I have noticed that the F8D UD5 Bios are working the best for me. I have a 4.20Ghz clock speed, with a BCLK of 200 and x21 cpu ratio. Uncore is running atr x18: 3600 mhz, and QPI is x36: 3600Mhz. I have RAM at 800Mhz 7-7-7-21 timings and Vcore of 1.328V in Cpu-z, something like 1.3625V in BIOS. I have VTT of 1.395V, DRAM of 1.680V, CPU PLL of 1.880V and IOH of 1.160V. This settings would not give anything stable with the F8e and the F7d, and F7c BIOS. I am not having any luck getting the chip over a base clock of 200 and being stable, nothing at all and even with the high voltage on vcore and vtt. I am not sure if the board is limiting me, since my MSi eclisple SLI would let me hit 4.45ghz+ with a base clock higher than 210.
For higher BCLK read this thread:
http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/...d.php?t=225264
quick question, will the chipset heatsinc be in the way of this sound card?
I mean will it fit?
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16829102021
I just got the UD4p, and I guess this thread is the best place to put this...
3.3ghz easilly on stock cooling... max temps on the hottest core is under 80(79C after 2 hours of prime small fft, which is actually cooler than before, which ran 83C)
1.15vcore, I think I could go lower but I haven't tried yet.

I love the gigabyte x58 boards, it didn't take ANYTHING to overclock this(basically) except setting all the voltages, cranking bclk to 160, and making sure all the ratios and stuff were correct. I'm quite impressed with my first i7 computer.
Stock cooler here too, I bought a Prolimatech Megahalem, but it was delievered to the wrong place and i´m still working together with the store to find it.
So WHICH SETTING IS GOOD FOR A 200 BCLK ?
The one which works best with your mobo, cpu and memory combo!
Start low and go 3.6, 3.8, 4.0, 4.2.
Get to know your mobo, cpu and memory trio. Know what their limits are. Find what max vcore you can tolerate with your cooling. Find max BCLK with a low cpu multiplier.
Hi, I just bought a new system with the Gigabyte UD5 and the Corsair Dominator 6Gb Cl8 kit and a I7 920 D0 batch 3854B271.
Running Bios Version F7 which is the latest ..
Now the problem i am having is getting the ram stable @ 1600 Mhz. OCCT and LinX both crash on me in under 5 minutes when i run the ram @ 1600 mhz.
I have no problems with the ram set to 1333 Mhz and the machine seems to be stable even after 30 mins of OCCT or LinX.
I have tried with XMP enabled and disabled and it makes no difference at all to the stability at 1600 mhz. I still get crashes in under 5-6 mins. Nothing like this happens with the ram set to 1333mhz.
The settings i have for the ram are set manually to 1.65V and the Qpi to 1.36V and am not stable . I have NOT OVERCLOCKED the CPU at all.
Just trying to get the ram to run at 1600 mhz and i cant even seem to do that much.
My setting are Cl 8-8-8-24 2T @ 1600 mhz and i cant get stable.
Even tried QPI volts all the way up to 1.4V and still was not stable. :(
But what i did notice is that the UD5 is not picking up the correct timings for the Ram.
I would highly appreciate it if someone could give me the Sub Timings for my ram so that i can run it @ 1600mhz and get stable.
these are my current settings on the UD5 and i cant get stable with them..

Have checked the ram with memtest86+ and no errors so i dont think i have bad ram. And i dont think i have a bad Mobo either ,
because i can run the ram @1333 mhz stable on OCCT for 30 minutes no problem but i crash in under 5 minutes with my ram @ 1600 mhz
Thanks in advance for all the help guys and cheers :)
Hope i can get to the bottom of this... :)
Set Uncore Frequency to twice (2x) RAM multiplier (or 2x +1 if that fails).
Need help please ,
what is the reason of this message ?
http://www3.0zz0.com/2009/07/12/08/713961164.jpg
Don't know the technical term, but it means that your OC (whether mem, CPU or mobo) is not solid / stable, though it did seem to complete the run (odd).
Normal instability in Pi runs give that error DURING the run rather than at the end!?
@Bluntsmoker and Toolius, this should help http://forum.corsair.com/v3/showthread.php?t=75932 also as mentioned before, have the Uncore set to 2 times the DRAM multiplier or 2 times + 1. ie 12x DRAM multi, Uncore should be set at 24 or 24+1
Personally I have my DRAM voltage set at 1.68 which EasyTune6 will say DRAM is at 1.648 and QPI/VTT set at 1.32.
I do wish to know where are the read points on the mobo for a multimeter.
Well, after dropping my bclk to 191 & switching turbo back on to keep my 4 GHz it allowed me to drop my qpi/vtt to 1.31 (from 1.37) and vcore to 1.31 (from 1.4) and it's 1 hour OCCT and 1 hour linpack stable.
So, its all about OC stability !
I will check the Bios setting and i will try again
Thank you guys for replies
Hey guys, I am too lazy to search this entire thread haha so I figured I would just ask. Is 12GB of RAM hampering overclocks on this board much? Is it dependent on the board or more on the chip itself? Thanks!
I raised the Vcore from 1.2 to 1.218 , and that solved the problem :)

Hey there :)
thank you soo much for the help :)
have tried setting the uncore to 24+1 along with ram volts all the way up to 1.66v / QPI at 1.40and that didnt get me stable either..
i have a few doubts about the sub timings for the ram..
i set 8-8-8-21 @ 2T manually for each channel.. and XMP is OFF. XMP on makes no difference to stability for me...:(
Have you left all the other advanced DRAM settings on auto ?
would love it if someone with the Dominator CL8 kit to post their ram sub timings or tell me if they left the following settings on auto and still got stable @ 1600mhz under OCCT .
Basically do i have to adjust any of the following values to get stable @ 1600 mhz for the Corsair Dominator TR3X6G1600C8D Kit ?
I have a feeling its these Sub timings that are preventing me from running the ram stable @ 1600 mhz.

Any D0 owners on a TRUE let me know their idle and load temps....??
I actually have the 3GB kit.. will return to you in a while with my settings, shouldnt matter so much 3 or 6gb, not anymore tough.
EDIT: took a screen of my timings, turnaround i have to go to bios..cannot do that right now..

I Can run @ 200 MHz Blck using 18x multiplier @ 3.6GHz no issues what so ever , prime stable , Intel Burn test stable .
But Cant touch 4.00 GHz , ie 20 x multiplier @ 4.00 GHz. Tried CPU voltages upto 1.4V I keep running into 124 BSOD when i start prime.
I have also tried uping my QPI from 1.335 to .1.55V and the result is the same BSOD.
Do you guys think my CPU is maxed out and doesnt like 4.00 GHz and beyond? My Temps on Load are between 65 - 70 C so looks like I have sufficient cooling.

Did you try bringing up the Vtt? I know the Vtt has a lot to do with those BSOD's when you are runnign 4 ghz plus. I also have the 124 BSO probelm when trying to get to 4.3FGhz and beyond. Those are holding me back a lot and keeping me from runnign 3dmark vantage at 4.3 and 4.4.
Yup tried increasing VTT / QPI from 1.335 to .1.55V . No GO:down:
Maybe you memory ratio and Uncore ratio? Trying to overclock your RAM and your CPU at the same time and maybe your RAM is causing you to BSOD. I dont know sicne I have many problems with the 124 BSOD's as you are getting. But it happens when I am trying to get 4.3 and 4.4+
My Uncore ratio is correct 2x of mem multiplier . My memory is tested and stable at 1600 MHz , just cant get CPU to be stable at x20 @ 200 Bclk = 4GHz , I am stable at x 19 @ 200 Blck = 3.8 Ghz as well..... Looks like my CPU has maxed out , 4.00 Ghz doesnt seem to be a possibility with this sample :(
:shakes:
Anyone tried overclocking with UD5 / F8E bios yet?
It's as good as F8B?
The best results I have had is with the F8D's. the F8E's did not work out well for me.
Hello guys...I have one Gigabyte UD3R and i think that the BIOS can be equal to UD5P.
My question is, can i pass the 222 BCLK moving only the PCIE frecuency?
I move the frecuency up to 110mhz and the mobo doesn't boot
Thanks
So far my best lower voltage 4.0 OC, about 40 minutes Linx stable, I might be able to lower Vcore a tad bit more
http://img.techpowerup.org/090714/4.0 Low voltage.png
Took the time to run some benches and take a screenshot of my current (final?) overclock :
idle vcore = 1.296 V
load = 1.280 V
Temps showing are with my case fans set to low speed -> less airflow -> few degrees hotter

I have a i7 920 D0 Batch 3849A OCed to 4ghz 190x21 on a Gigabyte UD4P F9c bios with 1.23V and 1.395 QPI/VTT, Memory is at 1520mhz at 8-8-8-24 1T. I cant get my system stable under that 1.395 QPI/VTT, is anyone else having troubles with this motherboard and getting 4ghz stable with lower QPI/VTT?
Would like some input and want to lower my QPI/VTT.
I got a C0 Batch# 3838B556 anyone know where it can go up to? im using a UD5 and rest is in my Sig.
Thanks
Not sure which one to get. Started out with a P6T Deluxe V1 then went to the EVGA X58 SLI but I am in need of an upgrade fix. I like the EVGA boards but there seem to be some QC issues. I went through 4 of them (every thing from DOAs to 'it just stopped working"). Never had a board fail prior to this. Though EVGA always replaces them I am getting tired of it and there seem to be quite a few others that have had similar issues. The Classified is mucho $$$ and when you add the NB/SB waterblock it's even more, almost twice the EX58. I am willing to pay the difference but don't want to throw my money away.
My questions are:
1 - Are there high failure rates with the EX58 Extreme/UD5 boards? How reliable are these boards?
2 - How is it for OCing. I have a 950 so I don't see needing a really high blck. Had my EVGA X58 SLI Prime95 and Linx stable at 4.4 (23 x 192). Would like to go a little higher
3 - How are the Vreg tempatures on these boards? On the Classifieds they tend to run hot
4 - Do you think that the EX58, clock for clock, is faster than the Classified. Saw a XBits review that said that the classifieds were slow
Let me know what you think. Would like to order ASAP so I can do the build this weekend.
Thanks!
Hi
i have the UD5 with 920 co@ 4200 @ 21x 200 with small number of bios
changes
its the first Gigabyte board i have had and would recomend them
Know i would go for the extreme (WC Northbridge) but does not seem to effect the overclocking anyway
i had the EVGA 680i and after 2nd rma sold on ebay.
it was the worst motherboard i have had by a mile:down:
EVGA were just FOXcon motherboards re badged at that time and the quality was poor
Here is mine for comparison

Adv timings and turn around timings are all set to auto.
I haven't had much luck trying to tweak adv timings since I tried the F9a bios, that bios would just leave me at that TMP screen asking me to enable it or ignore it. I've yet to try the current F9c bios to see if it happens still.
Hi All
I just picked up a Core i7 920 CPU & the aforementioned Motherboard. I also have installed 6 Gb of corsair XMS DDR 1600 RAM XFX Geforce 285 4 WD 150 Raptors & a Areca ARC-1210 PCIE RAID card. All I get are POST code 29 & POST code 69. I'm not getting any video or nothing. In addition, when I turn the system on the CPU fan spins briefly & then stops. I've tried everything I can think of to find out what's going on but no joy. Should I RMA my motherbard?
All help provided is greatly appreciated. My thanks to all who respond.

New Beta BIOS for UD5

New: Added Back to Back CAS Delay timing in BIOS memory layer to improve performance
Fixed: Compatible with Gskill elpida hyper Ices, especially running lower latency
The rest of the series will soon follow
Good one Hicookie :) Gigabyte will catch up now
Even multies don't suck 100% Dinos, but they are far harder to stabilise for daily use (more Vcore etc)... for benching that's another thing...
Kinda wondering now if I should try clocking higher by using 19x *scratches head* turbo off and multi to 19 right?
I'm still rather clueless about all the other voltages though besides qpi/vtt, vcore & ram voltage.... :(
@phsinc1 :
I'll post that when I get home :)
Been reading about this... looks good to me! :)
will test...
EDIT: It did make a diffrence, but now i got crappy ram that i know wont go so far im afraid, still i was able to get in windows 950mhz CL8, never happened before, this was at B2B10&12..
but there is no way you can keep a 24/7 like that, was 9000mb read with that :)
but another thing, now im in here bclk 211, seems stable, just a quickie... but, have never booted up windows at this bclk :)
Looks like a good add in bios, if tweaked right :) it WILL be good =) ..
Some quick diffrences bettween B2B settings..

more of it gives horrible results..
Now some bclk testing with this little tweak ;)
Ok, Done testing, did not get better :) i actually know my cpu is a dud, over 211 is impossible, there is no room for anything, i cant do 2000, dunno if it is the ram, but the cpu is Crap!
uncore 3800 is unstable, so 4000 is a no go at all, so then the whole concept goes down the drain... "Just when I think im out, they keep pulling me back in!" that is what every new bios does to me :)
i never give up, even though it is the god damn cpu that just WONT do more :) nah, a D0 me want! :) but is is fun to play... really like what gigabyte team are doin, the bios is much better! then before...like the effort in trying to improve! that is a good sign of a company!
naah, now i will install w7 "rtm" instead, atleast that works ;)
@Infa, what is the default setting B2B set to?
I dont know if its already posted but the new F8f is out for the UD5 and the F8g for the EX±
http://forums.tweaktown.com/f69/giga...st-bios-28441/
I´m gonna try this one aswell. I hope my OS issues compared to the F7 are gone. The F8d and F8e did not work like it should. Some say its do to Qflash.
f8f for ud5 have a serious issues with usb mouse and keyboard (reclusa and habu)
