the only thing is that it can get to mid 90c as it is i dont want to burn it out
ps i dont know what the card can go to with the temp
thanks
with thease sort of overclocks what temp is the northbrige getting are you all watercooling it.
Mine is hitting near 60c but i dont think everest is picking it up right sine its not hot to touch
As far as I know there is no nb temp sensor on these boards, just one close to the sb.
I have touched the south brige heat sink but its really cool so it cant be oveheating since the northbrige only gets warm im happy about that now thanks
do you see any difference in your games when you overclock your cpu becuse i dont is there any reason that is happining

Is the 333 strap 2.40B broke at 500fsb with th F9 bios? Should I go back to F4 or F6?
well i dont know about F9 but i do know that when running 2x2GB kits its sometimes can be hard to do but now impossible.
anyway i decided to give my new cpu a go at OCing with the stock heatsink, and i got to say im quite happy with my new cpu.
after i had to sell my awesome E3110 that could do 4250 w/1.24v-1.28v depending on the multiplier,im glad to report that my
new E8400 has gotten off to a good start.i dialed in some of my old settings from my UD3P and first try i got this.
http://i42.tinypic.com/24pmd80.jpg
i stopped it cause it was getting hot(have to adjust my airconditioner vent hose)will try again after i reconfigure some things
and some strategic fan placement to see if i can keep the temps down so i can prime for at least an hour.
To monitor NB temp use MCHTemp.Quote:

well after some rearranging i got it to prime for over an hour:)
im going to try and lower the vcore some more and see what i get.
very very happy with this new cpu:up:
http://i39.tinypic.com/2m46m92.jpg
What is your CPU reference? Cause mine is at stock which would be .760 if the VTT was at stock 1.2, and I need 1.328 vcore at that same speed (4.250ghz) to make it stable. Does increasing the CPU reference really help lower the vcore, cause I haven't tried increasing it.
[QUOTE=bluestang;3790955]bluestang,yep memory scores are much better indeed.i wish i had a set of d9's right now so i could test out my new board at 2.40B ddr1200.
my first one did great at that setting but my replacement for the first not so good.so i am curious as to how this UD3R will do.
Dark-Energy,for these runs my cpu ref is set to normal which sets it to 0.76
mch is at 0.70 at 1.20vtt and my vtt is at 1.26.as to helping to lower vcore it can by a notch or two.
but i think it mostly comes down to how good your cpu is.my 1.25vid cpu needed 1.34-1.36v for 4250
but my lower vids needed 1.24- 1.28v.
well it seems that 8.5x500@4250 w/1.28vcore works just fine
http://i43.tinypic.com/260g1mt.jpg
and 8.5x506@4300 w/1.28 :D
http://i40.tinypic.com/2m5midi.jpg
and 8.5x512@4352 w/1.28v :D:D
http://i44.tinypic.com/23kb0cz.jpg
gonna try for 4400 w/1.28v
I just love it, most for itīs so stable, consistent and easy to tune in, i have abused it a lot and it always recover when I try to do some insane OC runs.
OC duals up to FSB 600, if you want to go higher I think you need a board with better setup, RF is to coarse.
On the downside are the heatpipe/sink for the NB, itīs not good enough if you intend to push it, recommend to go with a 3rd party heatsink with a fan or waterblock.
If I had to chose a good DDR2 board today I had probably chose the EP45-UD3R/P, some what better in overall, what about downside, hmmmm, itīs a bit more sensitivit to tune in though but once you have it tuned in and learned how it works it really rocks, donīt have 16x/16x PCIe but I donīt think that matter that much.
Otherwise I think itīs some what better in overall.
@pangingIII
Nice 4x2GB result you got.
Is it with those Crucial value?
@radaja
Looks like you got your hand on a good E8400, nice.
Have you got a new job or are you still searching for one?
10x allot GhostLeader ... I'm currently on UD3P ... but had the oportunity to buy an RF at verry good price but .... I'm gonna say pas :)
yep i think i got a good one indeed:D
and im working for an employment agency right now but the company i've been working for the last three weeks is going to hire me on full time
im going to try and get 9x500@4500 today, but my cooling might not be up to the task.i've got a 4500RPM fan mounted on top of the intel stock heatsink
and the airconditioner vent hose blowing directly down from above it.to be
able to do 1hr plus prime runs ill have to crank up the heat in the house to keep the airconditioner running full time(blowing the cold stuff)otherwise this chip will shoot up to 65c and beyond.and i dont like to go above 65C.
im hoping that i can get 4500 with less than 1.34v,otherwise i think ill have to wait till i get a new cpu cooler.but im gonna try:D
not bad at all.4470 w/1.31v :D FAILED ORTHOS after 25m
http://i42.tinypic.com/nmk9ps.jpg
moving on.9x500@4500 w/1.32v :D . i think god finally granted me my very own golden cpu :D
http://i41.tinypic.com/2qleiw1.jpg
How much MCH volts will I need for 2x1GB rams @ 1200 mhz on 500fsb x8.5 ??
anywhere from 1.26 to 1.36.ive seen some do it with less than 1.30,also depends on what cpu(dual core or quad)
Nice to hear, nice to get some cash, isnīt.
Keep up the good work with your gear. :)
Good idea to say pass if you already have a UD3P.
You shouldnīt need more then 1,24v but it depends on what tRD you intend to use, probably tRD 8 I think, I did run my E8400 @ FSB 500 x 8 2x1 @ 1200MHz 555 15 tRD 8 with 1,22v.
Hope this screenie can help some.
http://i282.photobucket.com/albums/k...20055515tR.jpg
thanks Ghostleader.at 9x500@4500 w/1.32 its still running too hot for my cooling.
im going to move the setup into the bedroom because the airconditioner in there
blows much more cooler air than the front room one.if i can get 5c-8c cooler then
i can see what this new cpu can really do;)
Bluestang see,i knew ive seen some use much less mch volts.great work Ghostleader
with 1.22mch
@ radaja
what vid and fpo/batch is your e8400?
and i please you to post a template when u get 4500 stable
kagula323,vid is 1.23 and batch is Q843A771.i got it from newegg last week
and heres my settings so far.i think the only thing i might have change
is the vcore.but ill let you know once i move the computer.
hope this helps :DCode:MB Intelligent Tweaker(M.I.T.)

Well, I have just recieved my UD3P, the board looks nice, but like always Gigabyte thought that most of users are color-blind.
In comparison to my previous motherboard (ga-x48-ds4) this one have almost twice the options I had before. And that is good from a side and bad (just for now) from other side, because I dont know what does some of those options. And good because I can touch a little bit more.
I attach my Bios options, where I just move slightly some numbers.
And also I bring up (in red fonts) the options wich I dont know what they do, so if someone dont bother, could give me a little explanation.
Thanks in advance.

@radaja, So really cool You got golden CPU,I'm sure VID 1.23 isn't too hot for 4.5 on Air ,awesome clock with low volt
kagula323,no problem at all.thats why were all here to help and learn :D
BuGjAE,yea it seems to be a great chip.im trying to do 9x500 but its
just a little too hot.had to up my vcore to 1.34 and might need a little more
to get it to prime for more than an hour.dont know if my cooling can do it
now.

hey loco i just installed this and i dont get it.the cpu temp works fine but the mch never moves from 42%.took the fan off of my NB and still nothing.
under loard with fan/under load without fan still 42%.am i missing something.why doesnt everest or ET6 pick up this sensor that is inside the NB?
also is there a way to change it to english?please help
heres some screenshots.i have an airconditioner vent hose blowing directly down from above
tha cpu and NB.first shot is without it about five minutes after i start my computer.
the second one is about two or three minutes after i put the vent hose on,and you can see how the cpu
temps drop but not the NB.ive got a 4500RPM fan on the cpu and a 4000RPM fan on th NB.

Its been a while since I last checked this thread. I am using bios f4 on my ud3r. Is f9 the best current bios to run with?
im using F6 that came with the board.seems ok
Hi radaja!
Min temp for this sensor is 50. Run MCHTemp, choose "Команды", then "Настройка" and set like this (i highlighted in red) http://img193.imageshack.us/img193/8...7325e74.th.jpg
Turn off your fan on NB. Run prime, choose "custom" and set field "Min FFT Size" to 1024. Press ok. And wait :)
No :(Quote:

P45 very cold chipset. I have never seen more than 50 degrees, once installed HR05 on NB.
Try run prime about an hour, as i wrote above.
right now my mch core is at 1.30v.ill keep messing around with it.thanks for your help:)
That programs doesnt want to run for me, keeps giving me an error code 2 on install and I cant read the rest.
i think i might try reinstalling it.i cant seem to get it to work.i just tried a blow dryer(hot air) on the NB but still no change in temp readout.
ive been primimg for an hour now, this cpu is a monster!
9x458@4124 with stock vcore(1.237v in bios/1.216v load)
simply amazing:D

Give me your email, i'll send old version of this program.
Or try this version - http://cp.people.overclockers.ru/cgi...HTempSetup.zip
ok i will do as soon as i stop this priming run:)
thanks again for your help.
ill get back to you in about 20 minutes.
i use vista.i just installed it,but it stays at 50c now.if i move the setting to say 20c,does that mean once it goes above 20c the temp sensor will move?
No.Quote:

With Vista maybe some problem, one moment please :)
Because the driver is not digitally signed you need to load the operating system in test mode. Also you may use Driver Signature Enforcement Overrider or ReadyDriverPlus.
The first beta one you posted would give me the error but the second works fine, I guess the beta doesnt like win7.
http://i131.photobucket.com/albums/p.../Untitledv.jpg
Hoss331, fine! I'm glad that was able to help you :)
Sorry guys but I'm told there is no temp sensor inside the actual NB on the UD3P.
Armored_Kech1, sensor inside chip, not in mobo! This sensor has many chips: 945P/PL/G/GC/GZ, 946PL/GZ, P/G/Q965, Q963, G35, P35, P31, G33, G31, Q35, Q33, X38, P45, P43, G45, G43, G41, Q45, Q43, X48. This program reads the value directly from the chip, like CoreTemp reads them from the CPU.
loco23.do you know the name of the driver?
This is a hard question :) 5 sec please..
radaja - "Mama Hardware Access Driver", Path - Windows\system32\DRIVERS\Mama.sys
thanks:D
No problem, just two questions, what cooling are you using? and how much RAM are you using?
Thanks
Anyway heres what I recommend, but it might change a bit once I know the answer to those two questions.
So pretty much what you do for the References is, set your CPU Termination to 1.2v (stock) then set both the CPU and MCH references to 0.760. Then increase the CPU Reference by to steps (with the + key on the num pad), and lower the MCH Reference the same way.Code:******Gigabyte EP45 UD3P******

PS. sorry for the late response.
wow this ram is doing pretty good also.i bought this kit about 1 1/2 years ago.for my amd machine.
i didnt think it would OC so well.i thought maybe 950MHz.i was wrong.

yep, the 4x2GBs were those Crucial value kits.
my current max CPU-Z validation on my Q9550, also using the 2x2GB Crucial value kit

I think 600fsb is possible with dualie's...but the PC16000 is hard to go in the specs and I don't know if it comes because of me, the mobo or the D9s
i think i probably knew about potential of my DDR3 board by myself already, but thanks for the info that you posted at over there anyway.
anyways this's what i've found so far, one of my E8400 fairly easy go to 650FSB, another one was around 620, but they were just for some CPU-Z validations or for 1M SuperPi's.
as for Q9550, myself and friend have played with 2 EP45T-UD3R rev 1.0 and 3x Q9550's... on air-cool and 1.58v (cpu-z) vcore, they were almost maxed out booting from bios at the same 540FSB.
however, i'm not quite sure whether CPU or boards that maxed out on the fsb, and this mostly because i don't have a lot of experiences with the fsb overclocking.
Ok, since about a week ago I have been trying to get 500FSB x 8 or 8.5 with 2.4B with my new Kingston HyperX DDR2-1150 2x1GB kit. I was on F9 at the time and could not get system to boot with 500FSB 2.4B for 1200 RAM. It didn't even like 2.0B as I figured I would boot with 2.0B and then change with ET6 in XP to 2.4B. I then went back to F6 bios and was able to post but would get BSOD's or lockups loading XP. So I went back to square one to see if my RAM could even do 1200...set everything to stock 333FSB x 9.5 (3.16ghz), all voltages on auto (no LLC) except RAM @2.20v, all timings and subs auto except 5-5-5-15-2T. It boots fine with RAM at 1066 (3.20B) and MemSet comes up as PL6 and tRFC 42. So I raised FSB in ET6 to 360 (3.42ghz) to check RAM at its default of 1150mhz, I kept PL at 6, tRFC at 42 and volts at 2.20. Ran HCI Memtest for an hour and prime blend for an hour, no isues. Great I figure I would try 1200mhz, rasied FSB in ET to 375 (3.56ghz), raised vcore to 1.3 and still kept PL at 6, tRFC at 42 and volts at 2.20. Ran HCI again for about 45min to 1 hour and then Prime Blend. Prime was at about 1-1/2 hours and then I went for a walk. Came back and blue screen crash. Hit reset button and then had a continous loop reboots unitl I turned power off. So it crashed anywhere from between 1-1/2 to 2 hours.
Am I right in thinking that RAM is probably good for 1200, but PL needs to be raised along with tRFC and volts? 1.30 vcore should have been plenty for 375FSB x 9.5 right? I'll start with some of you guys 500 2.4B templates tonight hopefully. Thanks.
whats your mch voltage at?

This is about all you need to know about OC on this board.Read these posts.
Also best bios for me was F4 because i got stability with 500fsb at 1.24V Mch.
Nice summary!
I'm considering getting a Q9650 now, I want quad. :(
Well...my UD3P was making stability for 450fsb at 1.4Mch , 1.45VTT and 1.7PLL....and i decided i was way too high after what i have seen through this thread.Quote:
Nice summary!
So i started reading this thread.I'll hopefully continue going through it and find out all the ram OC secrets.
i have 2x2gb 800mhz ddr2 memory its the corsair pro with the lights on it
I was wondering what peapole has been overclocking it to becuse when i overclock my q9450@3.5ghz it goes to 875mhz but i dont touch the latencies will it run for a few years or not or will it burn it out soner rather than later
thanks
Just sharing my latest template after a 24hr Prime Blend test (Slected custom and bumped RAM used up to 3200), the load temps are pretty stable at 54°C ą2°C with my new TrUE Black 120 installed. I am now considering trying to get the RAM down to 4-4-4-12 at this speed...

But... there is some options which I dont know what they are like the ones on "advance clock control" and the options for MCH and the last ones for CPU, at the side of valtages.
But whatever, I will reed more, but I would like to know which ones for you should be the best settings to get 4ghz, that is what I want to begin :D
Thanks in advance.
try this and just see if it works.
http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/...postcount=2070
You shouldn't need to change your clock drive voltage but sometimes 800/900mv can solve problems. Clock skews also help when doing high overclocks as some components especially the CPU and MCH will drift out of sync so adding a picosecond delay to it can work for fine tuning
Ok, so after reading over past threads and settings you guys (you know who you are!) suggested. I went back to F6 and after many boot attempts this is what I got tonight. It's a start. I'm not happy with my vcore though and PL9 needs to be lower. I think these will do PL7 with the right settings elsewhere! Tomorrow I will shoot for PL8 and 8.5 cpu multi for 4250.
BTW, I could not boot into XP succesfully until I lowered vdimm in BIOS from 2.30-2.36 (mfg suggested is 2.30-2.35) to the value below. Go figure, it wanted lower volts!
Any more suggestions is welcome and thanks again everyone!

Thanks, now Im testing 4ghz 9x 423.
The problem was an 8 on Performance level, thus I couldnt boot, but now I have a 9, and its running properly
Well I tried those settings and its boots properly but it wasnīt stable... thus I got BSOD.... aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaand it is getting up my nerves.
I think the problem could be the ram, dispite (to my way of thinking) the high VID I have, which is 1.25000 and maybe I need more vcore... but with 1.4000 set on bios it wasn't stable.
So what you think ?
Osterman, I have a 1.25vid q9650 also. I put it back in tonight to mess with. Have not run Prime yet but ran LinX and passed with these settings. You could also try the 2.00D PL9 if you are unsure about your ram.

hey guys, i know some variant of this question's been asked various times over here, but are the ud3r boards still neglected for bios updates? Last i read, UD3P is up to F9l but what about the UD3R? Seems like most people agree the UD3R clocks as well as the UD3P, which is really the main concern of mine; i don't need crossfire and all the extras UD3P has got to offer, so going for the UD3R should be a better ($$$) choice i hope?
Both the UD3P and UD3R are official at F9 (with the same bios change description) so there itīs no different, the F9l for the UD3P is not official.
Some say that UD3P have higher priority then the UD3R when it comes down to bios fix but I doubt that.
UD3R is good choice if donīt want the extra bling bling.
this is my first time running linpack on my Q9550+EP45T-UD3R

Nice work
LinX is a nice app isnīt.
Whatīs up with the different in time and GFlops between the runs ~42 GFlops compare to ~60 GFlops, same core speed, bus speed, ram speed, timing, problem size and memory use.
Hi Ghostleader,
i probably had something running at the time? or something? i'm really not sure what was causing them to be like that.
here's another one that i ran it at 4.0GHz
http://img43.imageshack.us/img43/734...0520154217.png
CPU's temp during running LinX.
the room was kinda warm, no air con at the time that i ran this test.
http://img35.imageshack.us/img35/816...0150619.th.png
I know, it can really get hot with LinX, need to have good cooling. What kind of cooling do you have on that quad.
True Ex with 2 fans.
my system is usually using in an air-con room so the core temp usually never got that high,
if it has to be in full load more often than it is now i'll consider improving the core temp, i think.
Ghostleader, how old are those Hyperx PC2-9600's in you sig? Just curious as I just got some PC2-9200 from Newegg.
kagula23, will do as soon soon as I can get 500fsbx8.5 stable. I already have them installed since the weekend. I haven't taken off the heatspreaders though to look at the chips. I think the are Elpida though, not D9. I'm afraid to try and take off heatspreaders!!
Well I tried a couple of things.
And I still getting BSOD, voltages... I dont think so, I think the problem are ram.
Could you people tell me which settings did you use for 2x2gb 1066mhz (that is what I have).
By the way, I can get stability with 3.8 423x9, but I cant have it with 4ghz (450x9= 4.05, 445x9= 4ghz, 471x8.5= 4ghz, 500x8=4ghz) I CANT!!!!! AND IT'S DISTRUBING jaja.
Thanks.!
Osterman, I have 2 sets of this http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16820231246 Both sets do at least 1130mhz 2.10v, PL8. I think it has to be settings, most all of these cpu's will do over 4.0ghz. Have you tried dropping the CPU multi and just testing ram to see what it will do? That will give you a better idea what the problem may be.
I have 1 set of this http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16820231166
And those settings you have are for 24/7??
I bought two set of 2x1 in november 2007 and they are Micron D9GKX and they got really hot with the original heatspreader, did a 100% stresstest (HCI design Memtest) @ 1200 555 15 2.30V) and placed a temp sensor inside and got a temp ~65C, not good I thought.
Placed 2 60 fans@1700rpm (donīt like noice, therefore not higher) above the ram and got a temp ~55C, not good either.
I bought myself some Nexus Heat Pipe Memory Cooler (looks like OCZīs Reaper) and replaced the original heatspreaders, same kind of stresstest and got a temp ~40 without fan, I have not tested with fans because Iīm pleased with that temp, my ambient room temp was ~21.
Removing the heatspreader was rather easy, have to be careful though, I did the same to a set of 4x1 Kingston HuperX PC8500 (Elpida IC) no problem there either but when I tried it on a set of OCZ Titanium Alpha VX2 the IC came lose, tough luck but thatīs the way itīs some time.
