I did not calculate it myself, but I trust the calculation:

4th stage 315 W at -160°C
compressor size 20 ccm / 3,48 m³/h
Max. motor power ~ 585 W
Max condensor power ~ 900 W
COP ~ 0,54

sorry, I don't know more e.g. superheat or something...

In few weeks we will see how it works out :)

Qv = (P / (h_gaz - h_bub)) * Ug (*3.6 to get m³/h)

For -160°C captube end, -145°C out, 20°C suction temperatue you get
Qv = (315 / (705-165))*1.32*3.6 = 2.8 m³/h

Which is in fact achievable with his last compressor I think :D

As teurorist said, there will be the possibility to change compressor speed, or do some regulation with hot- gas.

Can you give me a tip how long captube for last stage have to be and what diameter it should have? Need to prepare the "extreme" suction line soon, insulation is really heavy :eek: Pics in some weeks.

Truly outstanding workmanship and spec august123, this has got to be the best cascade on all accounts for loaded cooling power.

Yes I deleted a post with previous calculation because of wrong starting values :) (~30m³/h which was off course a freaky value :rolleyes: )

No I can't sorry, I've never played with such gases (very low density :p:) and captube diameter (~1 - 1.2mm seen the length of the line :eek:)

Why don't you try any CPEV to start with and high diameter captube after CPEV? That would be a solution for coldbug :shrug:

Moster build, very nice.

CPEV would be a way to adjust temps on the fly, it took quite a few attempts to get the right one. I am using a half ton valves now on my three stage.

I love the cleanness of it all, the power is tight too.

you joke, the tev in third stage lost at -140 a little bit at gas superheat screw CPEV will be critical, too i think ?and 4m away with only 2mm captube from the cpev to evap you think that will work good ??

i think to find the right captube length this will start with much testing because he also wants to use the 95% methan like ricky

a -160° cpev who wants touch it to change settings no I think the Adjustment screw will freeze like the screw in the r23 stage at the Expansion Valve
we wanted to change but it was sitting very strange by -80° so what is by -160°C, other problem is the sealing...
but this is my opinion

Since methane is very cheap i would use a captube and try until i got the right lenght. i would not take a cpev because i would be afraid of leak issues.

How are you running this thing? Houses don't come wired for 400v and you'll only see 3phase power in commerical buildings.

august have 16a 400v 3phase

not necesary to do that. at least in austria and germany all the 3 phases from the generator come directly to your house. you have 230V from phase to neutral and 400V from one phase to another. so you can have 3 phase power in every building, it just depends if you installed the 3 phases in the house. (sorry, i did not formulate the text good, but its a bit hard for me ;))

hehe i cold never live without 3 phase power :D
Such problems we don`t have in Germany/ Europe. But you in America/ Canada have 60Hz, thats more power with same compressor. Not bad, too.

here almost ppl in normal houses has 3 phase

on flats only 220V of course but if someone live in 40-50 old flat he can found 3 phase plug (in kitchen) too lol
