I'm NOT wrong. And it's worrying that some people who mod the bios don't have a clue about what they're doing. Not to mention that all this VID thing is KNOWN since the GF100 cards came out.
Take 2 identical GTX460 cards with DIFFERENT default VIDs (I'm not talking about factory overclocked/overvolted cards). Save the bios from both cards and compare both files. The files will be 100% identical. Should I explain further why the bios files from cards with completely different default VIDs will be 100% identical?
By modding the bios you are overriding the default, hardwired VID, which varies from GPU to GPU.
Kelso dont make me hurt your eye  (that 70's show reference).
OCCT will check for errors, just like ATITool did, so it's not just a torture test.
Heaven does crash out pretty good if your not stable, however OCCT will help you dial it in perfectly. It shows you how many errors occur.
Perhaps you need to DL the latest version of OCCT hit the GPU test, and check "check for errors"
and dont forget to apply POWER DRAW lol , a lot of people dont do that and then your cards arent stressed @ 100% when the check box is left unchecked .. hehe
Hey
Will someone please unlock this MSI GTX460 768 Cyclone bios so i can ajust the voltage?:)
here is my msi hawk gtx 460 1GB :)
Wow !! thank you tons crazynutz :)
Much appreciated :)
Damn Crazy ! You and Ket are on a roll here lol, make sure he adds these to his index over there.. Wish a MOD would sticky this thread :/
Hi guys! I have a liiiitle (lying...HUGE) problem :)
A few minutes ago I failed to flash my Sparkle GTX 460 768MB with unlocked bios (whitch i have found on some site...I know... IDIOT...). I erased previous (original and unsaved) bios and now (obviously) the card wont show the picture. I have old 9500GT in my case right now and i dont know the procedure on how to reflash the second card (broken GTX 460)...
Please Help!
Fixed... Flashed with POV GTX460 768MB and works like a charm... :D
Hi Ket, can you please make me a modded bios for Palit 768MB version( card of a friend)? But i have some preferences: 1.0v Gpu 3d, the other things the same, 800/1600/4000, unlock voltage limit etc. My friend has a poor PSU and the Palit cooler makes much noise(>50%) with more voltage( i mean the temperatures raise very much).
Just for me make this special, in the list you can put the bios with specifications same as others.
The card has some problems and my friend think that is because the default voltage is vey low, 0.975v.
So please very much do this.
Here is the bios:
My friend told me that under load(FUR) Gpuz shows 0.975v so i don't know, may be the Gpuz doesn't show right? Or the vrm has a problem and vdroops the gpu voltage? It has problems with booting from the first time.
Hope that this will solve the problem. Thank you very much!
@xdan
CrazyNutz (forgot??) to change the voltage in that bios. Here's the correct bios (800/4000/1.0v) - Attachment 107898
gpuz shows 1.0v on mine, and the bios is set to 0.95 - 1.0875, just like xdan's
orig bios. But locking it to 1.0 - 1.0 like you did should do the trick.
But Kelso's bios lower the voltage in 2d?
No. for each performance level you can select a voltage range i.e. 3d =0.95 - 1.0875, the gpu will select the one inbetween that it likes. if you set it 1.0 -1.0 it only has the one chioce 1.0v
Just use Kelso's bios it will be fine, it is set to 1.21 voltage cap (max) 1.0v 3d volts, 800/1600/4000.
Ok, i'll give him this version to.
P.S: Kelso, your bios worked, one more request, my friend also want to have a more stock version of bios( 700/1400/3800) and if it is posssible to modify the fan mimimum speed, it is posible to set the minimum from 40% to 30% to make the card more silent?
The last request....Please very much... Thank you.
Kelso we have been through this before. the gpu does not have a default vid! It's set from the BIOS.
I have a Palit sonic, and the orig bois was set to 0.9375 - 1.075v gpuz showed 0.9875v at 3d
However I put a Palit sonic Platnum bios on it. bios voltage set to 0.95 -1.0875 gpuz reports 1.0v at 3d
The interesting thing is even though gpuz reports a paticular voltage it's not always correct. for example if you check it with your dmm you will see the voltage change with the load (and im not talking 2d to 3d) i.e. dynamic change of VIDs in the range to compensate for the load. like It overvolts its self on demand...
EDIT:
DMM mesurements:
furmark 1.05v
heavin 1.037v
stonegiant 1.025v
700/1400/3800/1.0v. - Attachment 107905. I have no idea how to modify the fan speed.
Thank you very much, you guys make a very good job here.
Can someone make this to this bios?
Gainward GLH [last vs]
http://www.mvktech.net/components/co...2010_GF104.rar
820/1640/4250/ 1.0v
fan: 52%
and erase the voltage cap
please? :D
Some of you may want to experiment with the PCI-E bus. With my GTX460 @ 875/4.4GHz and PCI-E @ 100 I scored 34.4FPS in the AvP benchmark, all settings maxed. I then raised PCI-E to 110 and got 36.4FPS in the AvP bench, ran the test 3 times to be sure it wasn't a fluke but each time it returned 36.4FPS. Looks like I may be loading my poor PCI-E bus a bit much and the boost helps :p:
Interesting find, I'll try this out first thing monday morning.
Here it is. Also can't do anything with fanspeed yet, sorry:shrug:. Go donate at www.mvktech.net the donations go towards figuring this stuff out!!!
Thank you very much :D
Tomorrow I'm gonna check the bus speed effect in somme tests.
I'm gonna flash the new bios and then I will test with 3d mark 01, vantage and source engine.
It may be interesting because I have a p35 motherboard...
Does anybody have the 1GB Asus TOP GTX460 vBIOS? I'm curious to test something.
I wouldn't go to mvktech. Couple weeks ago I went there and my laptop got attacked by a vicious virus that infected the site. (Yes it was deffinately from the mvktech site). Any website that has lax security like that instantly gets put on my blacklist and stays there, permanently.
Ket, the TOP bios was posted a little while ago in this thread. I modded it for the poster. :)
(Also, are you using FBE 1.54 yet? Do you know the change log at all as I couldn't spot it with a quick look)
http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/...&postcount=131
&
http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/...&postcount=131
I can't update my version of FBE. I click on the link within FBE but it doesn't do anything. :(
I wouldn't say anywhere, but mvktech assaulted my laptop that uses a lot of protection and still managed to penetrate it. So its on the blacklist.
You sure dude ?;) I'm getting the same results on my 4 year old board. Was getting it 4 years ago also. PCI-E freq set to 112 24/7 and it's 122 max stable. All thou i got to tell you after 115 with stable overclock it did corrupt my XP installs few times. I mostly keep it at 24/7 speeds xpt benching. But you are right it does increase FPS a bit especially it helps with low fps for me. Don't get the sudden drops.
If i ever go fermi this thread could be useful to me. Might want to try to tweak memory timings. Is it avail in Nibitor for fermi? can you apply with out saving bios?
Those with Fermi can confirm. Those findings are just what happens on my system. I run quite a lot of stuff off the PCIE bus so its no surprise increasing it helps. Didn't get any gains above 110 though so seems everything balances out once I hit that.
Hi, anyone have a bios for evga GTX460 1G unlocked the voltage to 1.21, and that the fan can lose 30%?
Dear god.. people.. read the first post!
Hi
Just wanted to say that I tried the modified BIOS on my PALIT GTX 460 Sonic Platinum 1 GB, but started to one issue.
The problem was that the card gets "stuck" on the "slow" profile, with the memory set at 325 MHz, even after trying to manually change it (tried a few tools like MSI Afterburner and EVGA Precision, but none worked) the card kept that speed. And as you would imagine, at that speed, the card performs rather slowly (it was pathetic... everything lagged as hell).
I want to know if it was only me, or there is something wrong with the BIOS.
Also, and because of the same, is that wanted to ask if someone can mod the original BIOS, but only two things:
- set the fan "lower limit" to 30% (default setting starts at 40%)
- unlock voltage maximum value
That's to see if by not touching the profile settings the card works as intended (i.e. doesn't get stuck with the slow profile).
Thanks in advance
I actually forgot to mention that already tried reflashing it (even downloaded the file again).
Gonna try again, cleaning old drivers this time, to see if that makes it work properly.
Still would like to know if U can make one with only the two mods (lower fan limit plus voltage unlock), since the default profiles (2d, 3d etc. clocks) work really great on this card, I haven't got any problems/messages with them (i.e. low performance in aero because of the 51 MHz core clock).
Thanks
PS: the BIOS I posted is the original directly from PALIT themselves.
He get stuck in the low profile becuase the card is getting errors perhaps.
Also Palit has a new bios for their 460s, I strongly suggest using it..
@KET: FYI I was actually refering to the lines/traces on the mobo;)
Tried again, this time with a clean driver install, but no luck...
Everything seems to go smoothly for a while, but then it gets stuck, and all I can do is to reboot my PC to get the "normal" clocks again.
Also the problem seems to start as soon as I try to change the memory clocks.
If I move them to anything other than 2000 MHz (in Afterburner), it gets stuck.
No matter the load on the card (with Kombustor running and GPU ussage at 99%), they all remain on those values (800/1600/325 => core/shaders/memory).
UPDATE:
I'm currently testing the new BIOS U posted.
So far it seems to work better, because I can change the memory clock and it doesn't get stuck with the slow profile.
The only thing that I'm missing now is the fan starting point/lower limit. On my case, the default 40% is absolutely unnecessary. At 30% the card maintained the same temps and was a lot more quiet (actually at 40% the fan [on my card] starts to vibrate, generating quite an annoying sound. I have to manually adjust the starting point to 42% where is QUIETER!).
Thanks
Hey guys, Im in a hurry. How I can get the Bios of my EVGA GTX 460 768MB SC Edition and post so you can modified it?
I will be very grateful :)
1. Read the first post
2. Theres no reason why that should be happening unless your card has a dual BIOS. The KFA and Galaxy cards are two that DO have a dual BIOS and as yet nobody knows how to flash the second BIOS as well.
Well...
I've continued testing the latest unlocked BIOS posted by CrazyNutz, and so far it has worked very well.
Does someone know if there is another way to change the fan settings for this BIOS? Right now it's the only thing that bothers me.
Thanks
New Gigabyte F3 bios released..
here my unlocked bios

I know this is a 460 thread and since I haven't seen ( I tried search and no luck ), a 465 thread..... Id like to know if theres any good bios out there for a 465, they are both MSI| N465GTX-M2D1G and they are currently wc .
Thanks
Yey! I have done it. BTW, I found a guide wich explain how to unlock the cap voltage of my VGA, is anyone need it, I will post the link. BTW, how I change the fan speed to 100% and the other things? The guide is lack of that information wich is really useful.
Now I have to create a bootable pendrive and its ready :)
BTW guys, here is the clean Bios of the EVGA GTX460 768MB SC.
Dear All,
I would like to upload a Palit GTX 460 768Mb non reference desing BIOS, and I would like that the only thing modified to it should be the voltage protection taken off. Can that be done? What do I use in order to save the BIOS?
Respect,
H3x0r
That would make the job. Beside, if you want to change the voltage cap, you can do it simply by following this guide:
http://www.evga.com/forums/tm.aspx?m=596592
If I can't link to that forum, please forgive me, tell me and I will edit my post.
BTW, hope it can help you.
As soon as all my GTX460 are under water, i flash the cards with this bios !
Updated vBIOSes pack.
Just received my 2 MCW80 :D
All 3 cards underwater tonight !
ill post pics tonight.
not mounted yet, but the plan is in my head.
ill use teh GT200 plate that comes with it, and make new hole for the GTX460.
1+ for pics :D
yep, the plate can fit. i received the bloc 5 min before going for work ... but i had time to place the GT200 plate behind my GTX460 and it will fit for sure. Just need new hole in it !
Youll have pics tonight. im at job till 23h pm ( its 22h08 ). After its going to be a watercooling party in my house !
Great! Well, Im out to the bed, seems that tomorrow I will see those 3 babys under water when drinking my pre-work coffee, probably I will get a geekorgasm with those pics and my mates will do like  and then
Anyway, have them for tomorrow, if not... Neh, too much trip to get you :p:
any gtx 460 msi hawk BIOS ?
I just flashed both of my Zotac 1GB 460GTX without problems.
It seems all clocks and voltages are working alright. Thanks for the work guys.
Just for you ;)

Edit :
Flashed my cards :D 1.2v can now be acheived !
As for now, ive been able to Run the Mafia2 bench at 905mhz core SLI + GTS450 physX. But its really late and now i need to sleep.
Amazing Boulard! The waiting was worth!!! You made a really clean work with those holes!
When you get the temps tell us! All in the same loop?
Thank you so much Crazy! As soon I return to my house I will flash it :clap::D:D:up:
Yes everything in the same loop. I have 2 MCP655 in series but its for safety.
Maybe ill get another radiator and pump for 2 loop but temps are good. I still have a very decent Delta Room/water.
TEMP under Mafia 2 MAXED 1920@1080 room at 28°c
In loop order :
GTX460 @ 865mhz 1.075v : 41°c
GTS450 @ 965mhz 1.150v : 40°c
GTX460 @ 865mhz 1.075v : 45°c
Highest ive seen at ~940mhz 1.175v under Furmark was ~51°c on my hotter GPU.
@Crazy: Dude, the Bios run flawlesly!!! Thank you so much! This saturday I will plug my Venomous-X and some powerful fans to see how much I can do for benching.
@Boulard: Damn, those temps are just amazing. If you decide to put another loop just for the vgas it will probably get better, thus you can apply more OC to them.
Thanks for the Bios !
Im very happy with my WCing fun with these cards :)
I just ordered 2 more benq G24HD, surround here i come !
Could you help me remove the voltage limit only for my Leadtek 460 GTX 1 GB please ?
http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/...1&d=1285912390
Thanks in advance !
Currently it's chugging along at 880 core and 1150 mem but I think I can push it higher :D
PS: If you could tell me my P0 VID that would be great too :)
Anybody who has very recently bought a Asus GTX460 1GB can you do a couple things for me please;
1. Attach a copy of your vBIOS here
2. Run nvidia inspector and tell me if you have a A1 or A2 revision sillicone
He wants bios, to unlock them, and give these to people like me and you for OCing our babys !
Haha ;) Your a lil far ! im in Canada and you argentina !Quote:
Hmm... Can I be your friend and go to your house to play with the machine? I make some good cookies
Here and there yeah. Not many of them around yet.
@ Ket & CrazyNutz = Sory just ask and hope, no offence
can broke gts 450 caps ? :p:
BIOS Sparkle gts 450 1 GB, here :
*edit* already pm
I've got an issue on my Palit GTX460 768Mb. Max OC at 1V core is 825-830 Mhz stable. If I raise the voltage at 1087mV, I can't get any stability even at 860Mhz, even though the VRM has heatsinks underneath the stock cooler.
Has any of you encountered this? I would buy a T-RAD2 but I want to know if the the VRM can take 1.15Vcore stable without any problems....so the money would be well spent. Cause if not, it's no point in investing money into the card.
Check Palit's website for a BIOS update. They have made a few revisions regarding VRM section. When I first got my card the VRM/FETS would get hot enough to melt your finger prints off, a few bios rev's later, (and a custom heatsink) and it's nice and cool. Maybe this is your problem.
