Does anyone know if the IP43 Pro will overclock well? The only difference seems to be the lack of CF (which I don't need).
It's for an E8400. Should it reliably let the E8400 hit ~4 Ghz / ~450 Mhz FSB?
Checked your mail & would just like to say thanks for looking into this for me, appreciate your time & effort. I've managed to source a UK distributor as well as contacts of a supplier.Quote:
£92.81 inc delivery, very good price as the saying goes "seek & you shall find" ;)
Abit reportedly leaving motherboard business
Now, according to CustomPC, the company will cease all motherboard production. Most of the Fatal1ty team has apparently transferred to either Foxconn or Biostar.
Abit may intend to focus its manufacturing efforts on products that synchronize more easily with USI's product lines, including notebooks, UMPCs, and photo frames, but the company's time as a motherboard competitor has come to an end. :(

Well if the statements are not true, theirs nothing stopping Universal Abit suing these companys for posting false infomation which could damage sales etc, who really knows . . . ?
I like Abit but I'll say this they have taken far to long releasing the latest batch of motherboards hence why these statements are coming out more often than not whether the info is true or false.
I really dont see the point in being loyal to one brand because of the Abit name or any other company & I've waited far too long for the Abit IP45 Pro to be released, I'll be buying a Biostar motherboard for the very first time, they are doing everything right at the moment.
My personal thoughts are Abit wont be in the motherboard market within the next 12-18 month, that puts me off buying because of the support, like I've mentioned I've had experiance as an employee in similar circumstances at companys where rumors where rife etc no offical news to say otherwise & bang! unemployed.
If Abit are going to be doing anything in the next 12-18 months they need to look at marketing the brand more better in terms of advertising as well as publishing a set release date for their products, I dont care what other opinions are but all these published articles have done the damage already.
yeah, good old abit has suffered significant image damage due to their lethargy in getting the correct word out on their status and upcoming mobo products.
Could explain why there has been such a large delay in seeing there P45 and X48 boards. It will be a sad day if this is indeed true.
Not sure but Abit's parent company Universal Scientific Industrial Co Ltd has 13,311 employee's.

I dont think they are really interested in the motherboard market anymore, otherwise they would put more effort into bringing the products out on time in the first place.
Considering DFI (511) & Biostar (856) employee's respectively do bring out products relatively on time now.
Posted this in the IP35 thread, but since they seem to be going in both: That's just a re-write of an article from last Thursday that people harped on last week. No new information there. Heck, they even linked to the article. Lazy "reporting". I still think they are simply tightening the reigns because of the economic situation. Until the fat lady sings (as in abit confirms this), don't count them out yet. Would hate for these rumors to become self-fulfilling prophesy.
EDIT - I should point out I completely agree it's ridiculous that they haven't released their P45 / P43 chipset boards to the mass market. I'm just not ready to give up on them.
if they are tightening the reins then support, especially bios support will be poor.
No way, ABIT wont be making boards, ive had some good Abit boards in the past, sucks!!!
Not wanting to slag Abit off but Bios updates hasn't been exactly amazing over the past few years with reocurring bugs that were previously fixed in previous bios etc but Abit do come good in the end.
If they have reduced their number of bios engineers, like you said Ace-a-Rue, bios support is bound to be poor, we was told that the reason why the IP45 Pro & X48-Max wasnt released because they had to bring in external bios engineers to sort out their problems & move over from the Pheonix Bios to AMI.
Not exactly the sort of info you want when purchasing a new motherboard, hence why I'll be buying elsewhere for my P45 motherboard. :(
Just been looking at the bios releases for the BIOSTAR TPower I45, 3 bios releases + 2 beta within 5 weeks to fix all the bugs associated with the motherboard, thats how it should be done. :yepp:
Can't argue that point. However, you and I both know the IP35 Pro had one of the best release BIOSes of any with a P35 chipset, which is partly why it won such accolades. I'd rather have two or three solid, useful BIOS fixes that address major compatibility issues (i.e. new CPU die size, which admittedly took a while) rather than ten or fifteen piddly BIOS updates to fix things that shouldn't have been broken in the first place. ;)
@ Nelly, can you PM me who sells the Biostar board in the UK ... thanks
Why on earth would they move to an AMI bios? They suck, it's what I hate most about Asus boards.
trying to figure that one out myself!
they probably swapped due to costs would be my first thought.
Amigan.
The IX48 is available in India.
14500 rupees, which is ~340 USD. Oh well, we get gypped anyway!
Nothing in europe this place has it listedQuote:

HPM DE but you can see the status. Their generally amongst the 1st to get new boards, especially rare ones
The Abit IX48-GT3 is available at OcUK.
My source at Abit have told like this regarding latest rumours of engineers and stuff:
Quote:
You already know that USI is the mother company of Abit. And USI also has a very good development department for mainboards. And two departments make no sense. So they closed the Abit department. And every engineer could change to USI. Most of them done this but some have changed to other companies. USI seems to do a very good job. Since the both departments joined together we got many good BIOS-updates for our boards.
But as I know USI build the boards for IBM since a long time. So they already know what they do. And also the most of our engineers still working for us with the only difference that they now will get their money from USI and not from Abit.
P45 board with DDR3 you have to wait for a long time. The IP45 GT3 will be the last board we will get. First we will receive the other P45/P43 boards. So we only have the IX38 GT3 and the IX48 GT3 at the moment wich supports DDR3. Still everyone want to have DDR2. So we first release the other boards and after this the IP45 GT3.
Thanks Bulldog, that should mean the ip43pro and ip45pro if we're lucky :)Quote:

Has anyone tried Universal abit USA Forums haven't been able toi get it for a couple of days ??
http://forum.uabit.com/ :yepp:
Oh thanks that's one abit rumour stopped b4 it got too far
Solution: Don't use air ;) :D
Like that clean area around the socket, should be quick & easy to insulate.
my abit forum book mark numerously errored awhile back too,had to google and change book markes
maybe they did a dns address change
I saw that the IX48 is actually out I cant beleive it!
Im waiting to see how these and the P45 boards do, Im more interested in the P45, I just hope Abit are back to their best ala the IP35 series
The address has changed to http://forum.uabit.com . Well, it actually changed a long time ago when USI bought abit. They just did away with the forwarding address recently.
On a side note, if anyone has particular threads you have bookmarked with the old abit-usa URL in it, all you need to do is change the "forums.abit-usa.com" to "forum.uabit.com" and it should put you right back to where the thread is.
checked for the IX48 GT3 at newegg, zzf and motherboard pro...no luck!
Any news on the digital PWM's being used on the IX48 ie still 5 phase same as the IX38? hope not :(
The release of the IX48 is good news, but I only need a P35 or P45. Newegg has a promo going on the 35 Pro XE, I can get it for $140 w/ free shipping until Sept. 1
http://promotions.newegg.com/NEemail...ail-_-E0-_-HAP
What are the chances the P45 will be out by then?
well..the IX48 GT3 will cost about $240 USD once it comes out in the USA...
not sure if the P45 is even going to make it for Abit.
The IP43 is listed on OCuK.
Just for reference.

Perfect board for Overclocking with that tall heatsink.
IP43 what a crap layout. Why have all that crap above the DIMMs? move the dimms to the top and then put all that crap below so you can have your PCI-E 16x slot at the top and not interfere with atleast the first PCI slot. I understand its a cheap board but design cant cost much.
what's a P43? I thought it went p35->p45??
good bye Abit :(
(theyre done, confirmed)

Looks mean nothing without a kick arse BIOS (and BIOS support, ie; regular updates fixing important things. Not the rubbish fixes I tend to see with a lot of abit BIOS releases)
Perhaps, but time will tell.
i've been there, done that, with companies shutting down or removing themselves from a certain manufacturing sector...as soon as the reports surfaced about Abit's engineers leaving, or getting the pink notice, that was the sign it was over for Abit motherboards.
it is a pity...a good company trying to stay afloat but one bad decision after another just stacks against them...mostly, you can point to the top executives for squandering their image and failing to meet board production dates.
More sad news of Abit exiting the motherboard business at the end of the year.
http://www.fudzilla.com/index.php?op...=9167&Itemid=1
USI who is Abit’s parent company will continue the Abit brand name by moving it toward the consumer electronics space with products like the FunFab digital photo frame with integrated printer and the mobile Internet device (MID) that they showed during Computex.
I believe we should not be hijacking this thread with discussions about demise of Abit (I know, I contributed to that, and I'm sorry)
i was making fun of fudzilla report since Nelly had made a disparaging remark about Fudzilla's accuracy in writing news reports.
now, i can't see how a machine gun caricature shooting at the "link" can be interpreted as being happy about abit demise???...it is called "shooting the messenger"...GET IT!;)
Nah, it wasn't directed at the crazy UZI slinger, rather the :D. I interpreted it as "happy news".
the :D was the result of using that UZI caricature.
you take things to seriously.:yepp:
Is this going to be released in the U.S. or have they given up on it?
I was refering to the IP45 Pro, don't have the funds for DDR3.
Nah not buying another Abit motherboard again, not much point when USI have decided to just give up, USI they never gave the Abit brand enough support with experianced bios engineers to get their boards out on time or market the product better & delve into the oem market more, they got what was coming to them.
Besides no point in wasting all that money on the Abit IX48-GT3 Hotfoot (even though its the cheapest X48 board available) when I only use 1 graphics card, it doesn't look very Air Cooler freindly either i.e. Thermalright Ultra Extreme 120.
I was going to get the Biostar IP45 TPower, but to be honest I'm not bothered how high fsb I can reach etc, looking for something for general use, playing games etc, I'll be buying an Asus P5Q Deluxe, will keep me going till the 2nd generation of Nahelem.
I can get an Asus P5Q Deluxe for only £5 more than the Biostar IP45 TPower.
i feel the same about Abit!..why go there and the board will NOT have any real bios support...so...what you get with the board is what you will live with for a very long time!
i like the Biostar TPower with a dual core..BUT..with a high end (extreme) quad, the board does not shine very well...right now, the bios needs a LOT of work and i am not sure Biostar is up to the task at the moment....they, supposedly, had some (bios?) engineers walk over from abit...maybe, down the road, they will deliver a very good product...right now, i would classify their board as "GOOD"!
on the other hand, i do not feel rosey about Asus' P5Q Deluxe..it has problems too; mostly memory!
still no news when we can expect ip45 pro in stock? i still wanna try this mobo...
Even if it was available, I would not recommend getting a board which you cannot RMA if you experience any problems, and that will have zero bios updates. It's simply wasted money. There's better P45 offerings available for around the same price anyway, from companies that actually still exist.
The really like the uGuru software & bios level fan control on the Abit boards.
I want to be able to switch to an idle profile(I work remotely via RDP a lot) and work horse profile for gaming/video processing. The bios level fan control is also the best I've seen. Call me lucky, but all my abit boards have worked fine (still using my nf7-s v2), I wanted one more abit board which should see me through until other mobos catch up with the same features :)
Dave
The IP35 Pro is an outstanding board and it is a sad day to see Abit go under. Uguru is tough to beat by any standards and it would have been nice to have the P45 chipset with it. The Maximus II Formula is a much better board IMO than the P5Q Deluxe that I sent back. I am able to hit better OC with less voltage and the heatpipe assy being able to install a NB waterblock on top of it so easily makes for a winner.
this board as well as the ix48 will prolly not hit the us. I'll be very surprised if it does, notice that Abit support has not posted in this thread for months? wonder why that is....
well, i was told by gary key of anandtech that he has the IP45 in his hands...sounded like Abit is trying to get the board out...my only concern is bios updates if the board is released.
really like to see abit mobo again:)
Hell, I'm still waiting for the Anandtech P35 roundup that never happened. (not really) The P45 was supposed to happen back in August, I think. Whatever Gary's got, I wish he'd let us know about it.
it is the 'Pro' board.
i re-read his email and he used the past tense to describe the board: "would have been a great board"...i guess, in his opinion, abit is not going to pursue the IP45 Pro....i gathered he was stun like most of us that Universal Abit thought Digital Picture frames were a more viable product line to get into.
maybe someone get any news?? 2 weeks past..
It just plain sucks that Abit is out for real this time.
I have been using dozens and dozens of IP35 pro for customer's builds, and for some I still am (were reliability and low power need counts the most). Not one of them let me down.
What am I gonna use after that? Big fat overpriced Asus mobos? They might work, but they (still!) can't even go into powersave mode unless you leave everything on auto, lol.
Gigabyte mobos, who look like they were designed for 5 year olds?
It's probably either DFI or Foxconn for me (and the customers..) in the future.
I still would like to have at least one IP45 Pro, just to keep the memory alive as long as I got S775 to run. This is gonna end much like 3Dfx... *goes away crying*
yeah it's crappy Abit is toast. IP35 PRO was easily one of the best boards last year. Not necessarily in raw OC potential, but because the board just plain works, and gives decent overclocks for most people.
Abit have sucked for some time in the mainboard arena, I say good riddance. The last decent motherboard I can remember abit making was the NF7 series.I'm nor Pro or negative to any company, not biased in the slightest. I simply buy what works, and in the case of abit, very little has worked for a long time. Over the years I have owned a NF7, AN7, that Fatal1ty nf4 mobo (and omg that really was a fatality, biggest POS I have ever owned), and lastly the venerable AW9D-Max. That board had a great hardware spec, but never a decent BIOS to unlock its full potential. Shame on abit :shakes:
Only reason I've switched back to Asus is because no sign of the Abit IP45 Pro (DDR2) or Abit IP45-Max (DDR3), never had any problems with any of the following Abit or Asus motherboards - infact maybe because I've waited a month or so before buying is more common sense. :yepp:
List of Motherboards I've used.
(1998) Asus P2BF - S1 (Pentium II Motherboard)
(2002) Abit KR7A-RAID - Skt A
(2003) Abit NF7-S - Skt A
(2004) Asus A8V Deluxe Rev 1 - S939
(2004) Asus A8V Deluxe Rev 2 - S939
(2004) Abit AV8-3rd Eye - S939
(2005) Asus A8N-SLI Premium - S939 - Still in use today.
(2007) Asus P5N-E SLI - S775
(2007) Abit IN9 32X-MAX Wi-Fi - S775
(2007) Abit AB9 Quad GT - S775
(2007) Abit IP35 Pro - S775
(2008) Asus P5Q Deluxe - S775
I didn't go out and buy any of those abit boards the instant they come out, there was a good 2-3 months. I never buy a board the instant it comes out because of teething issues. I only got the P5Q Pro pretty much when that came out just because I needed a new board for my C2D system and theres certainly no point taking a step backwards.
Its PCB :p:
I've owned the Abit AW9D-Max as well & I virtually sold it within a few days of owning it, bought it when it was released like a guinea pig, same with the Abit IN9 32X-MAX - crap boards upon release not sure now.
Saying this, the Asus P5N-T was supposed to be a crap board too with lots of people complaining. Check this thread out it's quite amusing lol

I've owned the Abit AW9D-Max and I love it, run great for 2 years until I sold it last week........... was waiting for the IX48-Max that never came :(
LMFAO.
It reminds me of the Creative hate where that one guy spelt out "Creative sucks" with a smashed up sound card.
