Eddy, those channels look tiny! Are you using EDM for this?
Its sawed with small tiny circular saws.
Wery precise and time spending machining.
@Syl:
Sure it looks similar. But don't Apogee, D-tek, Sapphire, Flow, XCPC also? Perhaps even more...
EDM with a wire can't be used in a such geometry and you won't be pleased to know the price and time consumed to do that with a 3D graphite matrix using EDM.
A typical circular saw milling cutter (and more probably mounted on a train with several of them to make it quicker) is far enough to make such channels (not very deep). Nothing difficult.
EDIT : burned
Hello Eddy:
Not knocking your block at all and I completely agree with you about most blocks on the market being based on previous designs. Performance increases in todays blocks, it seems, is achieved mostly through advances in manufacturing and/or through combining elements from existing designs rather than true design breakthroughs. Even the Heatkiller block I linked to is basically a Whitewater with tweaks. There's certainly nothing wrong with having a new block that out performs the previous generation at the same or better price. Perhaps water-block design has reach a plateau, but as a water-cooling enthusiast I am still hoping that a truly innovative design is just over the horizon.
BTW, I'm a great admirer of the workmanship achieved on all your blocks and best of luck with the Supreme
Eddy, that midplate confuses me. I personally don't see how it would aid in the performance of the block. Mostly I just see it adding heavily to restriction. Could you explain how it works?
50EUR  I'm getting one for sure!
You beat me too it! I was looking for that pic. I remember seeing that one (or one very similar) and thought Eddy's mid plate looked a lot like the one Watercool uses.
I've been very impressed with Watercool's blocks. If Eddy's block performs anything like it he will have a winner on his hands.
Hi!
Yes I have noticed some backplates have too small holes.
As 7499richard have written there is simple solution.
Drill them to a bigger hole 4mm diameter, or use existing hardware that you currently have.
The M4 screws are 60mm long.
@Mmmm~
Regarding the mid plate.
We are using different jet plate for the reselling version. Much less restrictive, but only a slightly worst performance.
We eill also offer a different jet plates for extreme performance and one for high-flow.
Hm, North America.
The blocks comes out from production this week, so we'll start shipping as much as we can evenly to everyone.
Eddy :
You're saying there will be different jet plates for the block.
Are they included in the package or do we have to buy them separately?
I presume that the block will be in retail stores by sometime next week (8-10 days)?
I'm hoping Eddy will include the restrictive version as well as the less restrictive and the high-flow version... (hint) ;)
How long until we can expect to see these blocks down here in Australia? I know www.flabbergast.com.au has quite a few EK chipset, mofset and GPU blocks, but so far no EK CPU blocks. Any word on if they'll be getting in the new EK CPU block?
Eller
I use server/workstation boards with dual sockels, I normally run dual loops with each CPU, Will the extreme with your high-flow plate performe on par with Apogee or Fuzion regarding flow?? Will 2 on series give me good performance in both CPUs???Quote:

Hi!
We had problems trying to find good company for polishing and chroming.
We got one now. Because of that we will start sending the blocks to resellers and distributors on Thursday.
Please be patient while requesting the blocks from your reseller.
We'll do our best to get them ASAP.
Thx for the update, Eddy.
Regarding the jet plates :
will both versions be included with the block?
On the backplate issue... am I the only person who drills thru the mobo tray and passes the mounting hardware thru both the mobo and the tray?? Completely eliminates mobo warping. If downforce causes warping, then I use spacers between mobo and tray.
Annoyingly yes, but s'no particularly big deal until yer mobo tray ends up looking like swiss cheese. All depends how often you change guts vs how often you change case. Personally, I always tend to change everything at the same time.
unless you cut a standard hole, then using custom plates, may have to make a plate for each block, but, the botl holes for the pieces and the board tray would be standard.
Something like what newer water blocks have with all the holes , how ever you can swap out a plate on the mobo tray for each different block?
Or did I just way over complicate that?
thats a good idea Marci, hopefully some of us will find that applicable and effecient and start to do it that way...
i never realy thought about that, would do away with almost all warping im seeing though, thanks for the advise marci
Eh, i was thinking (this may be asked befor), the nozzle-thingy what is it made of? I mean hopfully not ALU, i mean ALU nozzle and CU base?
Looking forward to seeing some tests, I'm currently holding off on my next w/c upgrade until I see some independent tests.
Eddy, you said earlier in this post that the block will have a majorbow to it?
Does that mean it will come with a bow, or it will be a change such as an oring as swiftech did.
I ask cause i want to remove my IHS off my cpu and a bowed block is not very good for IHS lesscpus...
Havn't tried that, but wouldn't you still be putting the mobo in bending moment between the standoffs?
I would think that would reduce the effect, but not be quite as effective as a good solid backplate that effectively provides the bending moment resistance and support directly behind the socket.
i know bowed helps with dual but i'm yet to see result's of a bowed block on a quad anyone got any?
I ordered the EK Supreme yesterday. Eddy said it will ship on thursday and I will probably have it on monday or tuesday with jet-pak. Was going to buy the DDC top as well, but the shipping cost was to high this time (must wait for salary day on 25th...) Anyway, I will post some pictures when I get it.
Great, post some results too ;)
is it on sale already?
any idea when petras gets this?
Because in the event that I am able to remove the IHS from my future processors I feel alot more comfortable having a flat block vs a bowed block on a naked core.
I work in a machine shop, so milling a step like niksub did in a waterblock isnt terribly difficult for me.
Losing 1-2C temps vs bowed wont kill me, if it really is that much of a deal I can adjust my fan speed to compensate and turn up my speakers or wear my headphones when I game.
My view on bowed vs unbowed is the same as most peoples is for 3/8 vs 1/2 tubing...;)
Sorry if I came across as an ass, 4am and Im tired from work.
Well if that is the problem then I do not think this block is something for you.
Just get a Fuzion and step it. ;)
Or buy a copper top for your apogee. (isn't the base of a apogee the same as a GTX?)
Thx.
I would have preferred paying a little extra for the block, but having the plates included, rather than ordering it right now and the plates a few days (or weeks) later.
How many versions of the plates will there be?
That's a good idea Jupiler, I would like for Eddy to make it optional to include extra plates or not, just like it's optional to buy it with or without barbs.
That way if someone buys the block and chooses the option of multiple plates he could test them one by one and decide which works better for him, I hope Eddy considers this option, that would be awesome :)
Thx Eddy.
I'll see it when they show up in your store.
Any word on when the new HD3870/50, 8800GT and the cpu blocks will be out in retail channels? Been anxiously waiting for the cpu block to arrive to stores so I can order it :]
Some additional picture:
So sexy :) I prefer the acetal one myself but for someone who use acrylic ek blocks, it is a perfect match.
Nice sexy blocks.
I like the acrylic one. (gotta save some money fore a nice setup :D )
wow that acetal one is so sexy!!! actually there both sexy!!!
Still waiting on 3rd party review though..
Acrylic top means I will now probably buy it. Make that will buy it.
Hey, will it come in silver like the rest?
OT, but did you get my PM on Bit? Should solve all our problems...
Yup, you got it. Shouldn't mess with the microchannels either.
Eddy_EK amazing block
is acryl version will be avalible as acetal or not ?
Looking very nice. Any word as to when they'll be available from Australian retailers?
It'd be great to see some 3rd party reviews comparing it to a bowed and nozzled FuZion.
Eller
Nice pictures, lets hope pretty is as pretty does.
wow that block is wicked sick....results please!!!
EK - when is this reaching petras?
:eek2: Looks nice.
Between that and a Dtek Fuzion, what would be better?
so when and where is this going on sale ?
Like the Acrylic
i had a question to raise .. it's bout the ek blocks .. how come the delrin blocks costs more than normal acrylic blocks? is it asthetics? but transparent acrylic is more good looking .. hm curious ...
anyone can give his views?
because of cost of material, the acetal is more expensive, or so that is my understanding.
yeah .. but why acetal is more expensive than normal acrylic they're both plastics rite?
Nice Eddy! Looks very nice!
Acetal/Delrin particularly the black variety is much more expensive than acrylic or even lexan.
On the other hand though, I find delrin/acetal much easier to work with and machine. Lexan/polycarbonate is very gummy in comparison, difficult to machine, and requires coolant and very low feed rates.
Acrylic is fairly inexepensive and also machines better than lexan.
Hi!
Sorry guys, there are so many questions here.
I dont think I will be able to answer all.
Plexi version should be out in 10 days about.
All resellers that wll want it should get it.
We will be starting sending the blocks on Monday to distributors and resellers.
To US and Australia it would take more days.
So about a week or so until say Petra's gets some?
Any benchmarks of the retail version VS a nozzled and/or bowed FuZion?
Eller
now all we need is to see some reviews to confirm it's performance ;)
I see it has a lot of mounting variations but I have a question:
Does it have s771 mounting holes? :D
All we need now is a d-tek nozzled vs ek block....
:)
any news ? reviews
petra when ya gona get it !!!
I ordered the EK Supreme last week and according to the tracking info it is already here in Sweden. Maybe I can get it tomorrow at the post office. Unfortunately I can't mount the block for a week or so because of my work load. I can post some pictures when I get it, however.
Eddy_EK once again on the aquatuning.de no cpu wb (unknown time they will be)
any coment?
Eddy told me last saturday that the blocks would ship out to retailers yesterday, so it will take a couple of days before they receive them and change their status.
Jupiler a lot was writen but no wb in stock nowhere even in germany
Wow Buddy ...relax They Are Coming Soon
Hi All!
We sent first blocks out yesterday to our resellers and distributors.
Still waiting on PTS order.
PPC and Jab-Tech have allready ordered and the blocks are on the way to them (sent today).
