Here is the modded pwm cooler I was talking about. The pwm's idle at 36c in windows and depedning on vcore goes up from there, load varies up to 45c to 50c.
Does anyone know of a vdroop mod for this board. It needs it very badly.

Is it me or does this thing not have option to boot from ide cdrom:confused: ... All i can see is usb-cdrom and sata-cdrom and both option doesnt work....
Both machines I setup use IDE CDROMS and both show up as the name in the list.
what that review tells me that Abit needs to tweak the bios some more to improve performance...they have a good foundation now but it needs some more wratching.;)Quote:

Needless to say, the throughput performance of these three are more or less the same. As already shown in the charts cited in my previous post,

i decided to drop the multi down to 6x475. rock solid. the slight increase on voltages all around..except on my pc6400..had to ramp it up to 2.2 to be stable at 4-4-4-12. 4gb total. sub times set to auto
very nice. iam much happier with this board then the p5k, the bios is more rich aswell. the lack of 1t is a let down, but hopefully a bios update will fix that.
set it back to 333fsb for now while i run prime over night to see how stable it is stock.
nice board overall, at least the sata issues arnt going on like with the p5k dlx i just returned.:shocked:
will post screens once i apply tuniq at least on friday. 500+ with some pwn cooling should be easy it seems
I dont like that that prog .... All I need is to change the clocks I dont need all the extra crap that comes with it.... Hopefully abo can get it going, Ill even take clockgen at this point...:(

How far can you get your FSB stable to?
i am having a problem (the only problem) with the difference between overall performance of this board and my previous QuadGT...my QGT was at 390 FSB@9X = 3510 Mhz...i ran PCMark 2005 again on the IP35 Pro with the exact same hardware and almost the exact same frequency, 3500 Mhz (500 FSB@7X).
adjusting memory timing has very little influence on the final score for PCMark.
i am doing better in memory bandwidth than the QGT but that is not correlating into an equal or better PCMark 2005 bench score...so...it tells me that the bios is need of MAJOR tweaking in the performance category...OR...Intel's chipset specs has higher latencies to allow for higher FSB but in turn, that does lower the overall performance output of the board.
Tom's Hardware did a review on all the P35 boards and Abit's version was mid-pack to lower bottom on most tests run!...need to tweak the bios to bring that up.
here are my results with PCMark 2005...1st one is the IP35 Pro (@3500 Mhz) and 2nd is the QuadGT (@3510 Mhz)...the QuadGT beats the IP35 Pro by 600 points in overall performance...significant to me!
I've heard that a dual slot PCIe GPU covers up both Firewire ports. Doh!
I have to have firewire, and have a dual slot card, so am I SOL?
Can anyone with the IP35 Pro confirm/deny this?
i have something similar to a dual VC and the firewire hook-ups are covered up
depending on the height of the VC and the flexibility of the cable, you might be able to use the two ports.

Update on my ip35-e woes. Firstly the e6300 appears to be dead and I still have the same symptoms with an e2160, so either the board is knackered or the cpu is not supported. Anyone else tried an e2160 yet? Abit UK cant tell me one way or another if the e2160 is supported with the shipping bios and have contacted taiwan. I see there is a new bios out but of course I have no way of flashing without a cpu it will recognize. So all in all no further forward. :brick: :brick:
I've been in contact with Abit Taiwan by the way & at this present time their is definitly no Beta Bios for the Abit IP35 PRO at this present time.

im working on getting a screenshot posted but so far with this board i have gotten into windows stable and gaming at 463 FSB on a E6420 so its running at 3.7 my ram is running at 926 ( its supertalent ddr2 800) with timmings of 4-4-3-9
my cooler is a Coolit eliminator
it idles at around 25c and load is somewhere near 40-45
super pi is running its 1m test at around 13-14 seconds

This is my first from scratch build in a few years. I got the e6300 (L625A705, packed 7/06) last year and ran it on an 865 chipset board until I decided on the IP35 Pro. I'm glad I waited. I almost bought a 965 chipset board earlier but the memory prices scared me away. Once memory prices dropped I waited for the 35 chipset to arrive. I've suffered bad customer support with ASUx in the past and really wanted to avoid purchasing any of their products again. I've had a number of ABIT boards in the past and have never had a problem with them and this IP35 Pro is no exception. With less than a day of tweaking I've gotten this to combination to run at 3.45 ghz in orthos for 8 hours. It did fail after 3 hours of Orthos at 3.5 ghz. I could increase my cpu core voltage past 1.42 but I'm a little wary. Maybe later. Here are the specifics:
IP35 Pro, BIOS F10
e6300, L625A705, pack date 7/22/2006 @ 1.42 volts
Thermalright Ultra 120 Extreme, arctic silver, scythe sflex @1500 rpm pushing
Crucial Ballistix PC2-8500, 2x1gb @ 1:1 ratio, 2.2 volts
NB voltage increased to 1.37 at 3500mhz, 1.33 at 3450mhz.
Stable orthos > 8 hrs at 3450 mhz with memory @ 4,4,4,12. Super PI < 16 sec. with 1M calculation.
Orthos ran for over 3 hrs at 3500 mhz with memory relaxed. Screen shot included if i can figure how to post it. I think it will post but I've had to use a low quality jpg. Hopefully you can read it.
If anyone has suggestions to increase stability let me know.

i was able to do 500 FSB on my Q6600 with the board on my test bench...but...once i slid everything into the case, NO WAY!..to much heat for the chipset...i think 500 (3500 Mhz) was about the upper limit of the NB with my Q6600...i am now holding 3600 Mhz at 450 FSB with no problem at all!

I havent had a chance to really test this board yet but from a few runs I did, its only a tad slower than my DFI 965-s ..... and thats at 500+ fsb so I dont think we have to worry about this board being slow lol.....

Interesting issue. I have vdimm set to 2.28 in bios or roughly around there. It reads 2.8 in windows with the uguru utility.
When I run orthos on blend test it varies between 2.28 to 2.26 to 2.22. This doesnt seem right at all. I know most boards have a vdimm droop of a little like .01 maybe but this is really bad.
Anyone lese having this issue.
I didnt run Orthos but for spi 32M, it droops only .01v..... vcore is around .04-.06v.......
What bios are you guys using? If anybody is running the newest ( june) bios, can you check what the performance level is in Memset at 500fsb+.... I think my board with the original bios is running 1066strap at high fsb but I heard the newer bios makes it run at 1333strap instead....

Thanks Ace-a-Rue. I was just about to grab one of these from the local Fry's. Seems the performance is not better than my DFI P965-S bench so I guess I'll continue to wait for the P38 release & upgrade my video cards instead.
I had the DFI 965-s and I think 1:1 at high fsb its one of the fastest ( 2nd maybe to the Abit Q-GT) boards out there because it stays at 1066strap.... My IP35 at 514fsb ( 3600mhz ) is only around a 1 sec behind in spi 32M so there is no way that that review is even close to being accurate.... Superpi 32M relies mostly on bandwidth though so its not the best way to compare them.... This BTW is out of the box without even tweaking the Performance level in Memset, its hard to tweak PL if its set at low levels to start with :D ...
@ Nemesis... 1:1 you wont gain much if any switching to this board but the dividers on this board are really usefull and they work at 500fsb+:D .... Just need rams that can keep up.....
those benchs are suspect. iams ure this board isnt the best, but it is stable. so far for me.
and NB runs very cool, compared to nvidia stuff. I might try that june bios, a lil bit weary though, since it isnt listed on the global site.
runnin 400FSBx9 right now with 4gb gskill. voltages are nearly stock across the board, and its fully stable. love the 1333 bus, lots more headroom, without stressing the board

The beta June bios also changes the sata boot rom for the JMicron onboard sata controller.

as far as this board is concerned, BIOS may or may not fix the performance issue, I sure as $|-|1+ hope they add a 1T option, other than that it has been a pleasure to work with it, very stable overclocked, the only board out of the lot I've used able to run past 500FSB with my 6400, and it is fast as far as Im concerned it's a winner. My 2 cent's after some day's with IP35 and IP 35-E + dual stage cascade :D
This board's and some freez ? No way : on this weekend in Poland we have some oc party and I have this ABIT's board's and some other hardware and we are able to try nice clock's on this mobo's.
First put under cascade IP35 and no boot at - 105C :rolleyes: After some probs still no boot.
So next is IP35-E under cascade and it's works :D But only 10 minutes with - 102C and not more work.
Back in the home, put mobo to table, mount water cooling and IP35 + IP35-E work's ok :)
So ... maybe Pro model is good for sub zero, but not IP35 and -E :mad:
And double restart grr.

if that is what you are setting in the bios and you measure approximately that value, i would say you have the correct measure point.
Well in bios I have 2.275 set and uguru reads 2.26 at idle and anywhere from 2.24 to 2.28 under load like orthos blend test.
The read point I listed gives me 2.30 idle and between 2.32 to 2.34 under load like orthos blend.
The reason that I was originally interested was because of the uguru deviation (and I reinstalled the latest version with same results) but now I am more worried about the overvolting if this is correct then I am overvolting by alot when under laod from what I set in bios.
what is your DDR2 VTT set to?..."+2" or "0"?

A pretty big variation I think but not sure how it compares to other boards. I guess it would only be bad if you were running say 2.4 thinking thats what you were getting but the load would probably be more like 2.45 or higher

Has anyone tried this board with some of the lower-end chips yet? I'm considering grabbing this board and an E2160 or an E4300 and waiting it out for Penryn Quad-cores to be available.
Does this board have any issues with those chips? Will I still probably run into a FSB wall with the E2160?
If I don't have a pair of the "approved" memory you state on the first post; am I basically SOL? I have Team Xtreem 2X1GB 4-4-4-10 DDR2800 sticks. They are D9GMH chips.
I have G.Skill 2GBHK (ProMOS) and it works perfectly even though it's not on that list.Quote:
