Cool! :D
I'll try it tonight, or whenever I have time.
Thanks!
Edit: Which version of RBE did you use to create that. I'll probably want to play w/ the 3D clocks a little, and I want to use the same version of RBE if it makes any difference.

Is there any way to go beyond the 800mhz limit on CCC?
I'm having difficulty getting the drivers to install correctly. The 1 time that CCC actually installed I got a black screen once Windows loaded. The only thing I changed from your BIOS was the 3D clocks to 800/1150. I've been running 800/1150 on my 4850 w/ 8.7 for a while now w/o issues.
I think I borked up my Windows install trying to clean up the registry. I'll try a restore, and see if that helps. I plan on re-installing everything anyway on my Velociraptor, but I want to know if 8.10 will work before I do that so I don't mess up my clean install w/ multiple driver uninstalls/re-installs.
I've got 8.10 running on a fresh xp-32 sp3 install now w/ Barr3l Rid3r's BIOS. At first I tried modding the 3D clocks slightly to 800/1150, but that didn't seem to want to work right. I tried all kinds of things like using the stock BIOS to install 8.10, and then switching it, but nothing worked. I even went through the trouble of imaging my fresh install right before I installed the drivers, so that it would always be a fresh install. In the end I ended up using Barr3l's BIOS untouched, and just using CCC to OC to 800/1150 (which is where I want to be anyway), and it finally worked.
Now I have to wonder if it was just b/c of the 2 displays being hooked up. I did unplug my projector, but I didn't realize that may have fit into the equation. Too bad it took me over 6 hours to get it working.
I think i know whas's going on.
With your own modified bios, big chance you typed in those voltages at the time , right?
With Cat 8.8 and higher you have to be right on the spot with those voltages, meaning you must use values according to ATi's voltage table.
If you deviate from this, the driver will error because the exact voltage has not been set. This was not a problem pre cat 8.8,
If the value you put in in deviated, it would just take the nearest correct value.
Now with the newest RBE you can't type those voltages anymore but you choose them from a dropdown list, assuring the user that the right one is used.
Just reopen or remodify your bios with the newest RBE and set the correct voltage and the problem should be solved :)
Oh and one other thing. I just read on Techpowerup that the only way to install Cat 8.8 is to install using a NON-modified bios. After the install you can flash again. Seems te be a known issue. I support it, because at the time 8.8 came out this was exactly the way I got 8.8 installed ;)
I got the exact same problem as you. For me to use my Sony LCD TV, I have to physically switch cables with the primary port which normally connects to my Samsung Syncmaster 205BW
If the two are connected at the same time, although the TV is off (or the Samsmung) , I get black screens , freezes, even reboots... this is sooo annoying. What the deal Ati?
Yeah, once I opened the RBE 1.15 I saw the drop-down boxes, and thought that was related to the issues I was having previously trying to get 8.8 installed.
This time, though, I started w/ Barr3l Rid3r's BIOS, and just used RBE 1.15 to adjust the 3D clocks to 800/1150...didn't touch voltages. I couldn't get this to work, though. I think it was b/c I had 2 display devices hooked up, but at the same time I also tried Barr3l Rid3r's BIOS untouched, so I wasn't sure what did it. I'll be keeping 1 display hooked up until ATI works out this issue.
Everything is good now using BR's BIOS, and I just used CCC to get to 800/1150.
Quick question: I noticed there was 1 lower 2D voltage setting available. Does this work? I wouldn't mind having my card sip a little less juice while I'm on the desktop.
some1 tried cat 8.11 already??
does anyone know which bios works with cat8.11 and with gpu clock at about 750-800?
what do you think about this voltage @ full load? do you think it's possible?
my 4850 is volt modded & i use 1.4v for vgpu.
i set 0.89v idle & 1.044v full load in RBE together with 800/1150 core & memclock.
i'm wondering if the hardware monitor's detecting the real voltage required to run 800/1150 stable on atitool artifact test and furmark.
or it's only detecting the voltage set in the bios by RBE? i thought 800mhz core required 1.3v and above?
http://img404.imageshack.us/img404/4...voltageqv0.jpg
it read the bios values, should be the same as real w/out voltmod, here it shows 0.94/1.16V for Real voltage of (1.03V/1.32V)
8.12 BETA RC3 confirmed to work !! Benched a few days now. and WOW I think we have finally unlocked the way to utilize all those 800 shader engines !!! This is on Barr3lRid3rs BIOS , which again ty for many of us , its superb . GJ
Its been avail on Saphire site and also some other sources for a few ;)
As always please do the uninstall util included in the ATI folder from the latest 8.11 hotfix before you install the 8.12 RC3 .
This holiday season will see some amazing benches on these 4850's with the new drivers .
Keep up all the great work guys . Lets see some benches !! game benches too.
Oh here ya go http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/...d.php?t=210516
Hi guys,
Has anyone managed to get Crossfire working with their 4850's with modded BIOSes in Vista 32 or 64, seems like I can only use a non modded BIOS with upper limits set at 735, if I use my moddded BIOS to 800 I crossfire wont enable and I get BSOD at windows startup, i have tried all the fixes for this by disabling ATi's external event utility etc etc but nothing with a modded BIOS.....any idea's?
Mine works fine for crossfire in Vista 64 but dual monitor support is a different story. Try using cat 8.7 as that was the last driver that worked with the unlocked CCC upper limit.
I've been overclocking my HD4850's but now reached the 800 MHz limit with the hash method 1 in RBE. I have the feeling my cards can go a little higher, maybe up to around 850 if I'm lucky. But I have no idea how to unlock that limit. This is on cat 8.12 and a Club3D HD4850. I could change it with RBE but RBE has a big red warning all over that no hash change so I am kind of weary about changing that.
I was kind of wondering the same, has anyone got any experiece with using method 2 to hack the bios limits and still being able to use the latest catalyst drivers (9.1 atm)? From what I can gather, most people either stick with catalyst 8.7 when the bios got hacked without the correct hash, or stick with the Asus top version which allows limits of 800 (gpu) and 1300 (mem), while keeping its functionality in the later catalysts.
Can anyone comment on this? Thanks in advance!
