Well I got HPUSB to work on my Vista box. Still having the DET Ram issue though.
Thanks,

When I was using a QX9650 w/rampage bios I had the same problem with many different kits. Its usuallly a strap issue with certain configurations. Try setting memory to 1:1 and using highest strap (400 for me Rampage 403 bios). If u set strap to auto, depending on trp selected it won't boot. Also, you kinda have to leave trp on auto and record data until u find what works with your setup using memset to change the value. Trp 5-7 and in some cases up to 9 sometimes simply won't work. That said, as you lower trp it stresses the mch so you will have to raise nb volts to have stabilty. This is a fine board, but as you play around or tighten memory configurations to acheive best bandwith it takes more than just a little tweaking.
It's been my understanding that the 308 Bios yeilds the best memory bandwith.
Really? how is the 308's stability? Currently trying my ram at 1105.. doubt it'll work but intelburntest is rippin away.
For overclocking ram, does turning DRAM Static Read Control on help or harm your ram OC?
Any opinions on setting the Dram REF voltages? there's 3 of em in the BIOS not sure what to do with any so left it at auto.
Ok, so some success on the many issues I ma having. First, I am now Rampaged, yeah baby!! Still having the DET RAM issue, was hoping the Rampage 403 bios would fix it, but it didn't. I will try those ideas Nemesis to see if they work. Also, on a high note, I got CF working, that was fun, but I had similar issues with my Blitz and CF, so I kinda knew what to do with that. Now if I can get the ram work we will be golden. I will report my solution once I figure it out.
Thanks again,
Utnorris
By the way, the stock cooling for the NB and SB are not that good unless you use a fan, just a note for anyone new. The fan took the temps on the NB from 55c to 40c, almost as good as wc'ing. :D
Thanks,

Sorry, one more quick question, I did a search and it seems that bios 907 was reading the CPU temp incorrectly, well I am using the Rampage bios 403 and am having the same issue. I also noticed it on the Maximus 1102 bios. I run coretemp, so it isn't an issue, but is this a common thing or do I possible have a bad board?
Thanks,
Utnorris
Best read for info on what's what. It's the X48 version but that's essentially a screened/binned x38 chipset. I'm using rampage 403 bios as well (typed 406 by mistake). I may flash back to the 308 since many feel it was the best.
Is there any bios for formula that supports E0 stepping?
308 is best so far imo, it offers best bandwidth and stability.
407 is required for E0 stepping
408 is buggy and my hardware dosent seem to like it much
Updating to the latest chipset drivers will resolve that, it did for me.
Post your bios setup DET DRAM is a PL/strap setting, set wrong. It can easily be fixed.
Home from work today, seems I'm ( cough cough) sick. Guess I'll have to toss the MFII together and see what it can do compared to MF
GRNFINGER........I have the max2, doing fine Hit the 450fsb x9 with no problems, still testing
Thanks for the info. let me know how its goes for u
the 1207 bios supports FULLY the EO Quads.
the 1201 bios supported the Q9650 but didnt show the name Q9650 it only said a 3ghz quad core.
1207 bios works like a charm. i have notived ZERO difference in overclocking but now the bios, cpu-z and all other programs report the Q9650 properly.
also the 1201 did not report temps properly in the bios.
1207 reports cpu temps properly.
Adata extreme 1200
Screeny - as I said - my temps suck because I've knackered the mount... (lost a screw and 2 washers somehow)

Although saying that it does run hot - runs ~10c lower where as my E6750 ran ~40c average and ~70c stressed...

Well it should be 10c lower if you know about the 45nm chips and the 95c TJunction.
If you do, i apologize.
45NM Chips have a 95c TJunction and not 105c like many CPU Temp. monitors will read.. Not sure how they react to the new E0 chips, but my E8400 does.
I use REALTEMP by Unclewebb, here at XS.
Yeah no I know, I think I've got realtemp on here. I just use Coretemp for quickness....
~Bex
I havent read it yet but apparently your wrong.
TJMax is 100c

XS thread
some of the interesting points
E8xxx and e7xxx processor TJmax is 100 degrees
Q9xxx and Q8xxx also have 100 degree TJmax
QX9770 has a TJmax of 85 degrees
Like I said I have not read it yet so if I'm wrong my apologies
Well if I use Realtemp my temps do indeed drop by 10c. I thought it was 100c too but some are indeed sayign 95c but just checked realtemp and it says 100 and is 10c lower so I'm going to go with that :)

Can somebody give me link to 1207 bios?
Ok well my 460x8.5 = 3.9 and 1105 on the ram with a 266 strap.
It fails intelburntest, but currently trying P95 and OCCT. i havent been able to get intelburntest to give me straight numbers on 5 tests at level 1 (maximum) before so im going back to the oldies. if this can run OCCT and P95 for 2 hours and then i'll play some games and we'll see what happens.
My ram used to be locked at 1000 on the eVGA 780i. now im at 1105. Amazing
Also, i have DRAM Static Read Control off, AI Clock Twister set to LIGHTER, and my timings at 6-6-6-18. Once this is deemed stable i will start tightening and starting with the static read control to enabled, and clock twister set to moderate hopefully.
Any suggestions of what i should try?
Well if you cant pass linpack your not stable
That GSkill ram is what I would be looking hard at.
Mine overclocks like a dog bump the volts a notch or two and set Clock Skew to advance 250ps on both channels, that wont hurt bandwidth any but should stablize the ram nicely.
Vista is installing now :D

Yea well P95 and OCCT (P95 on BLEND and OCCT on RAM) have been running for 1hour and still going strong, while playing music and browsing web. Going to let it go for another 30min then i'll put your clock skew settings in and try it. Thanks for the advice btw!
Also, i cant push the ram voltage any further. its rated 1000Mhz at 2.1v and i have it at 1105 @ 2.21v so im pretty maxed on the DIMM voltage.
If you think of anything else please tell me :)
My ram is rated for 2.1 as well I run in bios 2.12 the board overvolts .8 so that gives 2.20 actual. Anything less for my ram and it craps out.
Running @ 1080MHz 2.20 volts 5-5-5-15 Dram Static enabled and Twister to stronger PL7 I would fail memory test in mins.
Once clock skew was set to advanced 250ps rock solid!
wow ok sounds like it makes a huge difference. its still going, but im about to cancel it out and try your 250 settings.
Yea i know about the board overvolting. i originally had it set to 2.1v so it was effectively 2.19v in BIOS so i ended up with 2.12v in bios and that equals out to 2.21v
Oh yea, i have PF at 15..
Ok i set Clk skew on both channels to 250.
Burntest running atm.
