Tried both the afudos versions from ZenEffect and can confirm there ES allright !!

They support the switches we need to do this.
But it doesn't work.

i get .. (command: afudos /iloader.rom /n)

And thats it doesn't do anything more so i think they either don't support these bios file's or the chip it needs to be flashed in.

For the record i am willing to test if this works on my P5E :)

I don't think it would work ZenEffect supplied both 2.20ES and 2.21ES and they support the command but simply won't flash the board.

I hardly doubt an older version has the support for these newer biossed and boards and the new don't.;)

If I update the BIOS does it will break my RAID?

Maybe you mean, 214: I think it recovers more gracefully from failed overclocks and should help certain rams as it has max TRFC of 100+. Haven't done any serious test yet.

on the asus website i think it shows the board will be released with 0215 so i think 0214 beta is all we will get untill release and etailers are showing expected stock on the 28th

well, ive searched for 8 hours non stop today for either an engineering version or 2.27... my search is about 10% done and im wiped out. more searching when i get home, ive got a headache from this :(

i think it would be easier to just mod the 2.21es version i posted to work with the newer bios'
i gotta throw everything in flexhex to see how different the code is between 2.21es and 2.26. my guess its just a little update between the 2 and some features disabled (not removed)

comparing the 2 i hope to find how to either enable the switches for later versions or update the microcode for the bios'

On ANY Maximus bios I could get to about 475ish before I couldn't even post, with Rampage bios I can get to 490 before no post with tighter ram timings and North Bridge performance level! :eek:

the versions i posted when used like
afudos /h
shows the (es) in dos, the 2.32 from the asus ftp does not show this. the ones that DID show it in dos you could use the switches, this is what i based my (es) theory on

If you'd read the thread you'd know the benefits...

The performance goes up, as does overclockability for most people. And this is only with the initial Beta Rampage bios...

generally those of us who have done the mod noticed a few things

better memory performance *once tweaked by the new bios*
lower cpu volts to attain same stable speeds
higher fsb is attainable

ROCK SOLID @ 7 right now but going to try for 6 once these two WU are finished for Folding.

Sorry for the Double post guys but Stilt, Once the ASUS Pinotnoir bios comes out on the FTP, Do you think you can do the Maximus extreme to Pinotnoir since they are the same board, I just looked over the pictures and my Maximus Extreme. They are the same, Just the things on the ASUS Pinotnoir are different colors, same PCB and same design and same everything, i looked over it all.

Just had my first random reboot in several days since going to the Rampage bios. The only change to the system is the addition of a X-Fi Xtreme Gamer Fatal1ty.

I've been searching but is it known to cause any problems like reboots?

well guys here it is... the mystical afudos that guy wouldnt share.

confirmed 100% working, im back to maximus formula (need to reinstall windows though)

tested over 100 different downloads to find it but i got it! (tested most of it at work :P)

so if you ever are looking for the engineering versions, you can test afudos in windows command prompt for the version with afudos /h
look for the (ES) and you got gold :D

There only a few thing you have to know :

- In the bios there is an 2nd LAN controller wich isn't on the board.
- You got the "light" options wich aren't on the board.
- LCD Poster options wich isn't on the board.

BUT !!! you got a hell of a lot options more to overclock the hell out of your board !!!

So in short ! P5E to Rampage --- Works !!!! (with 2.29ES afudos)

Well did the flash and it was successful. However, cpu-z and everest both report the mobo as the Formula when the Rampage is obviously loaded. Did I miss a step?

Did you do the reboot into DOS and do WR1.bat and WR2.bat steps?
