I'm looking forward for the results and I'm happy to hear who will get a sample, those are great choices
Nice!
Like to see the result's of martin's roundup! :D
Any device should first be tested as designed for normal use.
Then after those numbers are acquired one can look to see if any improvements can or should be made.
If you reverse that you can screw up what the manufacturer has much time into and not present a fair review.
Do it stock first, then mod the hell out of it to see if you can make it better BUT the review itself should be based on stock.
If you afterwards get better numbers modded, send them to the manufacturer.
They are human too and possible you found something they missed.
That way everyone wins and this process becomes a joint venture working together.
Nice, can't wait for the results.
Great discussion!
I'm going to spend some time reviewing both ways, stock as shipped "Package as a whole tested" as well as my usual hold mounting hardware/pressure constant "Block only tested". It does mean a heck of alot more work, but considering we probably have a large percentage of first time buyers, you probably should look at it both ways. This will give you both what you might expect as shipped and be a good tool in evaluating mounting mechanism performances. There is a big difference in the accessories you get with different blocks and that's a good way to bring that into it as well.
Time to cut a hole in the MB tray...:D
LOL @Andy... OK, will test as supplied by Swiftech FIRST, without even opening the block up. Then I will do the 5 mounts like I've done with every other block.
thanks guys.
note 1: when testing "as supplied", your 5 mounts method is perfectly appropriate, and in fact recommended. It is the very same method we employ. We do find variations between mounts and safe for gross inattention on the part of the operator, they are discrete, but measurable nonetheless.
note 2: the screws are designed with a stop so that they bottom out a few tenths above the motherboard. therefore they should be fastened all the way down. spring tension is quite firm, reason why we use this large thumb nuts to ease the fastening process.
please make sure you bottom out the screws, or you will lose some perf.
all the information has now been published on our site.
Man this looks freaking sweet! Crossing fingers that Gary @ sidewinder computers gets his shipment tomorrow or Thurs so I can have mine to install over the weekend!
The design looks promising. I just finished my roundup of 17 CPU blocks. Hopefully the GTZ will come to Germany in time =)
For the record: I also test every block with the mounting it comes with. That's the way most endusers will be using the block, though selfmade mounting might improve performance on some blocks.
A new water-block release is quite a special opportunity, and we have to give our network of dealers -who have been supporting our brand for close to 10 years, priority in serving the end-users; Even if we placed the product on our site, we couldn't ship direct yet as we are too busy shipping wholesale; so we send product to dealers first, and then we'll put the product online.
Very nice! I really appreciate the c/w and comparative data on the website, very very happy to see that...this gives me something to compare with as I do my own. I've done the same thing in the past on pressure drop testing and it's been really nice to have another result to compare against.
It's simply refreshing to see performance data on the manufacturer websites...thanks!
Sweet. Thanks again gabe. I'm looking forward to seeing our in-house XS testing done soon!
It looks promising, wish it came in acrylic for the bling factor, but you can't have everything. :D
