i find its much more stable all around with LLC off on this board and requires less volts on load to be stable

Hey guys,
I just added my latest results in the air (stock fan). My results are in low multiplier and FSB rates for now because these days are hot like hell man. I'll have got such nice results when I completed my watercooling setup soon.

no work on saturday so ill have time to really have fun this weekend:D
Arthur,nice results
Nice work Arthur
Nice work Radaja. Only 1.24 Vtt too :)
Since it's 600 FSB short orthos run season, here's mine from the other night. I ran this after a SPI32 run at the same settings to see how stable the CPU actually was. I initially thought it had barely made it through the SPI32M run, I never expected it to make it through 10 mins of small FFT's.

Looking good, perhaps your ram/cpu skews or ram timings need adjusting a little to get it just right.

CryptiK,which memory slots are you using?the white or blue?
ive got mine in the blue, but i read earlier in this thread that some were
saying the white are better.but im not sure if i read it right and cant seem
to be able to find it now.thanks
my blue slot are better
what what best bios guys for micron lol
i tried 1202 and 403 but it wouldnt boot at 600fsb anymore so i went back to 501.
im still trying to find out for sure what IC's these g.skill's have.F3--16000CL9D-2GBPI-B?
563 x 8 and 1800 C7 looks good for 24/7 (if this is your 24/7 board of course).
I use the white slots, I switched to them after having some initial difficulty and I did not test the blue slots as rigorously. Apparently the white slots (channel B) has been electrically designed for better overclocking, and this is a common theme with X48 boards. As different ram kits behave differently, I think its a matter of 'what works best' for a particular kit.
It probably as I said above depends on the particular ram kit/IC type. I heard BIOS 0403 was good for micron.
I'm using 1104, and no problems booting at 600 FSB here. No idea what those G.Skills have, could be KPT/GTS/HCF0 maybe something else. I dont think GSKill always use the same IC for a particular kit anyway. It depends how they behave.
hi CryptiK Orthos need to set to Priority 9 or 10 !!! not Priority 1
got my OZC animal kit today.
ci2kla,thanks ,do you know if these scale with voltage(samsung)?
after many tests i concluded 403 is really best with micron
got me to 1900 cas8
on another note my brand new pc3-14400 mushkins are duds cant even run stock withought errors
no wonder they couldnt do 2k
gl with the animals radaja
Sorry I don't have much information Samsung HCF0s but many other power users has tested it and they generally have good comments on this IC. It can achieve high frequencies with lower voltages than Micron D9 based kits but it's not as Voltage Sensitive as the Microns. Usually they max out @ 2.2v while Microns can do higher with ultra high voltage like 2.4v+ (D9GTS). Also this kits don't like tight timings much.
ci2kla,thanks for the info.
zsamz, thanks.and sorry to hear about you mushkin's
Update, well i tried my animals,at first i tried the white slots and had no luck
couldnt get them to boot while OC'ing them.threw them in the blue and they work great.
so i guess they like the blue slots.
Well I suppose this board is FUBAR.
Had a storm today but the pc was hooked up to and APC 1000. After the power returned, the board will no longer post.
Tried:
- Different videocard
- shorted the powersupply and it works by turning on the fans
- removed all but 1 stick of ram
- disconnect everything except for one harddrive
- tried jumper 2, 3 bios flashback
- removed battery.
Did not try another powersupply since I would have to buy one.

Rampage extreme logo just flashes on and off, no boot sequence whatsoever.:shakes::shakes::shakes::shakes:
i just poped in a q9650 and its drivin me nuts
it dont like a 4 gig set no more lol
how bad is this?
radaja dont tell me about the ud3p i rather cut my pecker off than buy 1:p:
wouldnt even think about it?i know how you feel about gigabut:D
but still your off to a good start there.im sure you will get it up to 500fsb soon:up:
RE is no good with a quad above bus 475 but Giga..., o no, sorry :D just kidding.
Seriously, RE is no good with a quad above bus 475, to much voltage is needed but if you donīt mind just turn on the juice on that PLL, FSB and a lot on the NB, donīt forget to tune those GTL Ref.

only reason i got to 475 was +60 on gtls and man this cpu is a vtt whore
i didnt push cpu pll i know i degraded my e6850 @ 1.7
i'm gonna push nb to 1.75
i'm just glad i changed all the sinks the board woulda been on fire:rofl:
nb hit 42c pwm 45c sb 44c
any hope to clock 2x2?
yea i know the feeling, when i had my Q9650,it was fun but then the limiting fsb factored in.Quote:

man a quad is not fun like a e8600
mainly because i wanted to do some high fsb memory clocking.

These hot days really annoying me alot. :wth: I do not setup my watercooling yet why there are some parts which I need take them for it first. Because of that I using my stock cooling todays. :( I'll purchase my NB+SB combo waterblock soon and I'll give you some results here. When I oc'ed the system, my NB temps messing up well thats why I do not do anything about oc now. I saw the 56C on it man, thats really sad to me.
PS: Please anyone share the 3dmarks06 scores here.
Cheers,
Arthur
Hell yea man, you are right about that. Plus I only have my E8600's stock fan here. :( By the way, you can check my some results on page 97, I could take them with my bloddy stock fan LOL. I just do not want to increase my temps more with my RE for a while.
I purchased some fittings to my Thermochills today. I'll purchase my chipset block when my fittings arrived in my hand soon.
Thanks again,
Arthur
i bumped sb to 1.6v n 1.11v:eek:
next step is to use 2x2 stix

New motherboard returned and I'm up and running. Trying to find stability again is such a pain with this board but I'm testing each module individually to make sure they are working correctly before I proceed with overclocking. I contemplated selling off the processor and board - jumping into the i7 area but it's just not worth it in my opinion.
I noticed that the board came with bios 1201 and it seems ok. Anyone have an opinion on this bios or should I flash back to 1104?
Thanks
Just flashed and will play with 1202. I removed 2 of the 4 mushkin 996625 module. I forgot my original parmeters but am having difficulty hitting my 440 fsb mark.

Wow, 1202 bios is amazing. My NB, vtt volts are much less ( 1.42 ) than my previous settings and are running perfectly. The setting that was actually causing the most headaches was the AI CLOCK and COMMON PERFORMANCE. Setting them to Lighter and 8 worked, anything lower caused problems.
Completely stable at 480 x 8.5 1:1 1601.
Thanks folks and thanks to MushkinSean.
PS. I can pass Prime95 for 24 hours but OCCT just crashes the system to blue screen. Personally think that OCCT is not a reliable program. Thoughts?

Hello, guys. Have somebody tried 4GB G.Skill DDR3 PC3-16000 2000MHz Trident with Rampage Extreme? Or any PC3 16000 modules?
I'm now with G.Skill 4GB 1600MHz, but I need 8GB... The Q9550 is at 4.1GHz and I'm wondering, will I reach at least 4GHz with 8GB memory. Can I?
1202 is grate i managed to lower cpu, NB, vtt voltages.

OMG also the FSB v.
Purchased 2 sets of 2000 ripjaws and tossed them in. I've never been able to get my 4 X 2 1600C7 (microns) to work stable in this board. Finally I had one set of the 1600C7 and one set of 1333C9 and clocked the 6gb to 1450MHz and gave it to my son. He's had it running for about a year this way. Well, I took the memory out, popped these ripjaws in and changed to the next speed, ie. 1450 --> 1828Mhz. Solidly stable, even in gaming!!!

I haven't even begun to really play with them. They just were stable. Go figure. :)
Cost = $97.00 X 2 for 8GB!
thanks derek
i was kinda hopin they didnt work good in rex
now i gotta get me a set:mad:
edit  just bought a set
If those Ripjaws can do 1800C8 I might consider buy one set, I just wait and see what you can do with those zsamz.
i cant get past 1600 even at cas 9
i should assume they are bad or ...:rofl:
edit:
1 stick is bad cant do 1333:rofl:
other stick can do 1828 so far fully stable cas8
ghost only 1 good stick
this is around max 1.8v
forget cas7
pl6
ghost i wont be ownin a set of ripjaws i dont think they are good enough compared to my patriot 2000 and 1800 sets
maybe the 1 good stick is not real good lol
i'm gonna wait till hyper prices settle
i got board to work with 8 gigs with acceptable bandwith:)
Guys, i got me a Rampage Extreme again from a webstore that was supposed to be refurbished (back from rma or something) but today i recieved it and it looks like it's brand new but it's a chines or japanese version! The text on the box and the manual are in chinese.
Got it for a bargain so i'm not complaining but i'm just wondering, does the bios default to chinese or english?
Nice Chip there!
That's where I wanted to be. Prior to this memory I was stuck with unacceptable speed. Different modules and models brought me to the view that the issue was the memory controller. Finally the board died on me, (loss of a NB temp diode and halting the system) and I advance RMA'd it to get a new one very quickly. The new board was far better with memory, but still I could not reach high speeds and low latencies with 8GB.
So I am happy as well.
It feels great to be back on the Rampage Extreme again. :)
Did some testing and again 600FSB was a breeze...
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v6...s/600FSBRE.jpg
The CSX Diablo's i got seem to need exceptional high voltage, 2.15V for DDR1800 7-6-5-18. :(
Maybe i have to get me some Corsair dominator GT's.
Btw, im running 4.5GHz at 1.32Vcore now, still have to test stability though. :)
Very Nice Zeus!! Back to the Dark Side, huh? I thought you sold all your Intel stuff?
I did but sold the AMD gear and got me a new RE. Seeing Vivi breaking the 3D01 WR breaking on this setup proved a bit too much for me. :)
Shame i can't get the Diablo's running at decent voltage, 2.14V for daily use is a bit much.
I'm kinda interested in them tweaker shortcuts on ya desktop :) Diablos here do 2000mhz C8 at 2volts, I'm on 1204 bios... never even tried 600FSB on my board :( my Phase can't handle the cpu at 10X above 560FSB...
It's just Monteboy's SuperPi tweaker for doing copy waza, if you're interested, send me pm mate. ;)
That's a nice kit you got there, how much volts for that?
Been searching for a kit of Cellshocks but to no avail.
Now i ordered 2x1GB Ballistix 1800 8-8-8, let's hope it has some nice GTS chips on them.
I don't know what's up with the Diablo's, 1600 7-6-5 runs with just 1.85V but 1800 7-6-5 requires 2.15V!
i'm waitin on mr replacements of ripjaws
but i rather have a set of hypers to another set of d9gts
Hey guys new around here :). Just got my new rampage extreme, and i'll use my Q9650 on her. Im looking for a new ram kit for o/cing ;), what would you suggest? i've seen the new dual channel kits for i5/i7 such as G.skill ripjaws, are these worth of trying? Or should i go for a D9GTR kit like CSX diablos? Also, has anyone tried overclocking a 2x2 kit? As far as i read, REX doesn't like a lot 2x2 kit..Should i go for 4x1? Or maybe a 3x2 kit would be better?(i could keep it also for the future, when i'll upgrade at a X58 m/b) im kinda confused
Thanks a lot!
PS: Sorry for my bad English..
I certainly like my Corsair Dominator 1866C7GT Hypers, they've been solid for months now, and are very flexible.
Here is a sample of my 2 x 2GB Hyper testing.

Here's my Q9650 on the REX with 2 x 2GB Hypers. The board didn't like running high ram speed with the quad, it changes the whole dynamic. At 4.1 - 4.3GHz, large FFT's were very hard to stabilize.
http://i720.photobucket.com/albums/w...4v119VttPL.jpg
This is why i love the RE so much:
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v6.../32M620FSB.jpg
I haven't changed the tim under the heatpipe assembly yet, only added washers on the backside and a Swiftech NB max waterblock.
This board is just made for dualcores with 2 (or 4) x1GB Micron GTR/GTS. :)
I second that with the Micron GTR/GTS but I most say that RE is pretty good with quad also.
Sure, I had to feed it with a lot of juice to make it happen but sometimes itīs just worth it
http://www.overclock.net/attachment....1&d=1252828232
Nice results guys, good work!:up: Thanks a lot for the advices!
@zsamz_ , nope, i didn't read the whole 99 pages of this thread, but the most of them, and thats the reason i asked about, because lots of people have tried new 2x2 kits on this m/b, but the results were not so good in contrast with 4x1/2x1. Of course i dont expect from my Q9650 to run higher than 500 FSB for 24/7 (actually have been running at 490 fsb on Evo for every day :D). I have access on a 4x1 set of Diablo's, so these are the first i'll try out, i'll inform about the progress :).
ghostleader forget ripjaws on rex unless you want 8 gigs@cas9
cant do 1800 cas8
1667 cas7 ok so far pl7 500fsb microns i needed pl8 for same
so far 1900 cas9
does not respond to voltage 1.92v
i think they are powerchips low% bbsa
maybe i should take a look under the hood lol
i'm thankfull i didnt set my patriot 2k lol
Thanks zsamz, good to know.
I think I donīt bother with 2Gb stix any more on the RE, I stick with my 4x1 Dominator 1800C7 (D9GTR), they do 1800C7 really nice with my Q9650 @ bus 450.
BTW, I on to test SLI hack on my RE, I did it with my RF so it shouldnīt be any problem to do it on the RE.
Finally managed to run 1M at 5GHz. :)
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v6...ctory/9282.jpg
With my old Q822A435 this was not possible, it had a brick wall at 4940MHz.
Going back on XP and tweaking some will give a better score, hoping to do sub 9 seconds this winter with the aid of some cold air.
very nice zeus. is this another 435 chip you have?
@Zeus
Nice work
Just curious, whatīs your volt and gtl setup for that?
Yup. ;)
Been looking for you "over there" but none available at the moment.
I will keep my eyes peeled.

that OC'ed rig you have will draw some serious power during gaming. what PSU do you have? set your multiplier to 6 and and prime it at 450fsb first. increase it until you find what the CPU can handle at that voltage and increase your voltage to see if it helps. for the skews and GTL's, i hope you didn't just copy it from someone's template
glts dont look right
and if you clocking 2x2 stix with quad go pray to god

Thanks for the help...
It seems that in order to operate with 9x multiplier i need 1.42v on my cpu but as a 45nm cpu this is not very good...moreover while fpu stressing i noticed temps from 45 idle going up to 96 in just a few seconds...
I lowered my multiplier to 8 changed my gtls to 60 50 60 50 60
and cpu voltage to 1.35v
With that settings i am able to run fpu with no probles and max temps of 86...
As for my previous gtls i tried the small excel application i found in the forum
(i am a newbee BTW)
My rams are 2 sticks of 1GB though.
Finally, for PSU i use a Tagan PipeRock TG1100-BZ 1100w so i do not think i have any issue with power.
right now my bios settings are:

Thanks again for any help given!
zpower go for 475x9 1.3-1.4v it can be done easy
dont be scared to give more cpu vtt 1.4v
zpower, you can't just copy/paste someone's setting and use the exact settings for your mobo. yes, it's the same mobo but exact tuning settings will be slightly different (just like how CPU's from the same batch can OC differently). you need to tune it from the ground up if you want optimal settings. this mobo's CPU and NB skews are extremely sensitive and it'll be noticeable whether you have the skews right or not. GTL's are important for quads, but not so much for dual cores. this you'll just have to do a trial and error tuning. i would give it a little more vPLL and vtt, and enable the LLC. that should get you somewhere between 450-500fsb
Okey guys, here we have some 9800GTX SLI on my Rampage Extreme.
This is what you want when you have rebooted after the "SLI hack".

SLI capable system, yes indeed, lets open NVIDIA control Panel and choose "Enabled SLI", notice the X58 in the CPU-z, the thing is, you fool the Nvidia driver to think itīs running with a X58 chipset. :ROTF:

The scaling is pretty awesome and ~38 avg fps in Crysis Warhead, Enthusiast @ 1680x1050 with two 9800GTX isnīt bad at all.
Does that sli hack also work under Windows XP?
Yes it does.
I think so, you can read more about it here.
finally got me a set of hypers
man its like pullin teath:mad:
scalin better with cas7 then blue screens
what kinda vtt and vnb needed for 600fsb?
what strap you guys using as well
333 strap, 1.24 VTT and 1.55NB with an E8600 and 2Gb ( 2 x 1024 ) CSX Diablo's
zsamz - Hypers go quite well on this board, refer to my benches also those of the REX master, Cheapseats.
Bobbylite - 1.24 Vtt and 1.43vNB (BIOS) gets me 600 FSB Orthos stable.
thanks guys
