yeah same here. I have not tried auto express, but CPU tweak is no good for me.
Oh and got voltage, I have gone back to overclocking only by the BIOS, since I left AOD alone, I have achieved a higher clock as you saw in my previous post.

You want to keep AUTO EXPRESS enable at all times.
Its has to do with Cache performance.
CPU tweak i like OFF.now that i know it was the High temp culprit.
Cool beans to AOD,, i like it but i find BIOS and High OC to be more stable with out it.
Dave ,, glad to help:up:
I ran 3dmark06 cpu tests and everest with [cpu tweak / aod boost] on and off and there is no difference so I turned it off also. A lot cooler (38*C vs 46*C)and lower noise from the stock fan at idle. Although I didn't notice any significant difference at load temperatures.
Thanks.I`ll try that and see if it works.
Edit: uhmm yea. seems that my mobo is giving 1.3V !! in both NB and SB chips on auto (even with no oc)...is that normal? I guess thats why is was seeing 58*C m/b (should be NB) temperatues (?)What are the stock values?Whats wrong with this mobo ? :s
Try running 3Dmark-06 for the full app with the cpu tweak on in AOD. IF I remenber right it was a 300 point pick up running the full app. for me .
Hi.I run some 3Dmark06 test, using cpu tweak on/off and find out pretty big differences.Cpu tweak on,i scored 15717 and cpu tweak off,i got 14841 points.I think thatīs a big difference.
Hello and welcome,
All the advice in this thread is excellent if you are going to succeed in high overclock or finding if your cpu is capable of high clocks this is the thread to be in. I would suggest reading through the whole thread, everyone here including myself discovered important ways and ideas to get the clocks we get. You should read this whole thread. It has information and ideas throught it.
Got to say by looking at your temps Im not liking it........60c is unnacceptable for high clocks, it will not happen. Is this temp while running prime?? if so very good, or is this your idle temp that would make it very bad.
Cool cpu is key to good stable overclocks......especially if you want to be prime stable.....prime will murder your cpu and mobo with high temps. So get your cpu cool......and dont just buy a top of the line Heatsink and think this will do it........your case temps dictate everything, so if its 60c in your case your cpu will be 60c no matter how big your heatsink is. The fan will blow 60c air onto the heatsink and cpu.
Just a bit to think about:yepp:
thanks for the advice. I have read till page 12 so far. Its taking some time. 60*C is the peak after 30 mins of prime(4 threads). My idle is 37~38*C with cpu tweak off and 46*C with cpu tweak on.
I have run an 8h prime at these settings (1.4v, 3GHz), and played crysis a lot. I think its stable.
About case flow and temps, I think my case is ok (Lian Li mid tower, 1x120 front intake, 1x120 rear exhaust, 1x250 side intake, 1x120 psu exhaust, top 80mm hole no fan, some cable management)
I use the stock heatsink/fan with arctic silver 5. Also I have enabled pwm control for the cpu/case fans in [optimal] setting (asus) to lower noise in idle.
I`m not new to overclocking, I should menton. (my first was a celeron 466MHz that was happily running at 583MHz). I know the basics. I wanted some info about the particular cpu (and mobo if possible)
Is it ok to go above 60*C load temp?Whats the safe limit?and about voltage?is 1,45-1,5V safe for 24/7 operation?
Hi everyone.I have been playing with this cool chip for 3 to 4 days and its been fun overclocking this baby.:)
Till now I have managed to get CPU@3480Mhz 1.45v/NB@2400 1.35v. Idle/load temps are 29/57 *c,this setting is 24/7stable.I used 14.5x cpu multi , 10x NB Multi, Htt is @240. ;)
I am still playing with different setting to find out what can I achieve.MSI have limited max vcore to 1.45v in bios so it gets tough to get things stable above 3.52Ghz, and also keeping temps down is not easy without WC set-up.Here's a pic :p:

very nice clock ^^^^. You sure you can only do 1.45v? Maybe your board might have like a jumper where you switch pins and it allows for higher voltage???
Nop , the only jumpers are for some kind of bus overclocking that is no good.:( I mean it does work but only over clocks cpu from 2.6G to 3.1G without ACC on and no extra volatage , but thats it.
Titan7171 has the same mobo and I read his posts in this thread and found out if cpu vid is set to 1.45 along with cpu vddc to 1.45 in AOD , cpu-z shows cpu core volatge @1.496v as u can see in the pic above, that helped a lot in getting things stable above 3.4ghz.Thx to Titan7171 for this use full post.
Blaber: VERY nice clocks! :D
I had the MSI DKA790GX Plat, it's a really nice board and OC's quite well.
There's a reason why they limit the voltage in BIO's to 1.45 though. The PWM section of the board is a little weak (I found out the hard way ), while the DRMos fets supply a really clean voltage, I don't think they can handle alot of power going through them.
Just a suggestion, if your going to run @ high v's remove the little aluminum cap from the FET cooler and put a fan blowing on the whole power section of the board.
woot woot!!! lets go AMD
amazing!!!!!!!!!

Hey dude, thanks for giving me the shout out:up: Glad you got that cpu up there it seems that those 125watters are better than my 140 watter, I got one of the first availabe from newegg. Excellent overclock Blaber!
Im seeing all these 3.6 and 3.7 screenies and Im getting jealous:D......let me get back to the drawing board:p:
One thing I notice though is that alot of people are lowering their HT and nb frequency........Is anybody here thinking that having such a low HT and NB negates the 100-200mhz you are getting from the cpu??
Hey Titan, I agree, as close as Phenom II's are to be released I think i'm going to go get me 125w, I still want to hit 3.6 GHz 3.7 GHz with this current gen. of Phenoms, I did with my 9850 and it crapped out. So it kinda left me wanting more out of it. urghhhh tempting.
Oh and about the Phenom II, yes my friend, it is getting very very interesting :)
Man I cant bring myself to buy another Agena. I actually booted into windows at 3.6ghz got a screenie and when I got into MS paint it froze on me. With it so close i wouldnt even want to mess with Agena.....im all Agenad out.:D
Anyay I couldnt afford to get another cpu now I just bought my Sapphire 4850X2 3 days ago:) and all I got left is the money for Deneb
i actually got to validate mine at 3.6 Ghz ran for a bit then crashed, that was at 1.456v though :)

of course, it gave me 400 points in 06 and 500 in vantage i am running overclocked though those aRE not stock clocks.......the card is running 700/2360. theres no overclocking utillity that I have found that works with this card so Im just using CCC which gives me max 700/2400. I tried rivatuner, ati tray tool, amdgpu clock tool.
Im going to try ati tool today and Im doing a overclocking setion as its -2 now:up: see if I can get a screeniw at 3.6ghz:D
