Need a answer on a few questions. Lets says BCLK is always on " 200 ".

1: How should i know which QPI and Uncore i should choose? Is it always x36 for a 920 cpu ?

2: And as above, what does uncore do and why should i choose the half on ram divider?

3: What divider gives the best performance on this mobo?

Running bios F4K and memorys in the white slots.

Hope someone wants to help out.

From what i know, if you're on 200 bclk that puts your QPI at 3.8ghz with 18x multi (36x multi is actually 18x). The next multi, 22x (44x in bios) would put you at 4.4ghz QPI speed, which is unstable. QPI speed will top out at around 4ghz.

Uncore is the part of the cpu that isn't the core, it has the memory controller and L3 cache. Higher uncore frequency will reduce L3 latencies and should improve memory bandwidth even on same memory clocks. Like QPI though higher clock will need higher QPI/VTT volts.

Tried with uncore 16x and it gave me 17189 in everst, then i tested uncore 17x and it gave me a improvment to 17614. Tried uncore 18x but the windows wouldn´t boot. Have QPI/VTT on 1.335v

I tried the new bios (F4l) and now my settings from F2 won't even post. I also tried F3 and the same results.

All I did was set vcore to 1.2v and vddr to 1.64v and leave the other voltages on auto.

I set the RAM to the default 7-8-7-20 and then used the default setttings from the bios for the rest.

I was trying out the other bios' in hopes of finding my way up to 200 bclk, but right now, getting back to 160 would be nice :D

Hi everyone.

I updated to F4k bios yesterday and running 191 X 21.
But only CPUZ is displaying 4.01Ghz
So i guess only CPUZ is right? thanks!

Coretemp Mhz is bugged. CPUZ is correct. Realtemp has temps with correct mhz.

Nice overclock btw.

Ok, I think my problem was RAM sub-timings.

I put them all back to Auto and now I'm back up and running at 20x160 with RAM at 1600 7-8-7-20 (though now CPUZ shows my tRAS as 25 even though it's set to 20 in bios, hmm)

Also had problems to boot first with F4L but now it´s runs fine. Little more bandwith with this bios for me...

Download Cpu Tweaker, it reads te ram timings correct (you can get it in the sticky "new memory tweaker..." in this forum).

So what's a good strategy for finding max bclk? Since I have a while to go before I get my bracket for my Supreme, I figure I'll try to play with the bclk a little bit.

easy, lower cpu/ram/uncore multi and up the bclck. But dont expect anything more then 222mhz bclck, cause thats the current max for every board. ;)

That's fine for me!

If I can get 200 bclk I'll be happy. Anything beyond that is a bonus.

What voltages help with bclk?

Hi Zlojack, I've spent the last 4 days finding my max *100% prime stable* bclock, i done it basically the way Saaya describes in his Nehalem 101 thread.

I'm doing this because i like to have several overclock profiles - for i7 this means one max 100% stable OC based on high cpu multi, then one based on high bclk, then one to see how far i can push my memory.

I started with bclock -at first i removed all other bottlenecks, cpu > lowest multi, QPI in Slow Mode, Uncore @ 12x, memory @ 6x, cpu volts 1.275. Then put VTT/QPI voltage to 1.44v. This got me 222mhz 9hr prime stable.

However i then realized that this isn't useful to me as i will be wanting to base an overclock on this bclock, and i certainly won't be having QPI on slow mode for that profile :]

So i took QPI to lowest multi instead (18x, 36x in bios for some reason), and uncore to 17x as i will probably want 8x at least for the memory. With these settings 222 was pretty ok but just not prime stable, i've found my max stable clock today which was 213mhz. I might be able to push higher with more QPI/VTT volts but i don't really want to go higher than 1.45v and there's really no need for me.

So yeah, you can remove bottlenecks including placing QPI in slow mode but remember if you want to do a proper overclock you're probably not going to want to leave it there :D

Next max clock for me: CPU! Sounds like turbo mode is something to leave on for the GB boards so i'll start with 1.35v, use the 23x multi and see how high i can push bclock before it needs more vcore. So far 1hr stable @ 3.9ghz, which is what i wanted at least :)

Thanks for that. I'm following that track right now with QPI/VTT set at 1.355 in bios and everything else low. I bumped the QPI/VTT up one notch this morning as Prime95 crashed sometime during the night. bclk is at 200, CPU at 16, RAM at 8 and QPI at 18 and uncore at 16. So far so good, but it certainly does get toasty!

I forgot to get RealTemp to log temps to give me an idea of how long it lasted, so I've got it set now. If that works, I'll probably keep it around there and then wait for my waterblock mount to get here and walk the multi up.

i only have UD5, first i flashed with Extreme bios, today i tried this BIOS
then flash again, but seems ID not change, lol

but,the board i tested its UD5 for sure.

If you keep that 200 BCLK, when you raise CPU Multi, you'll get crashes with 20x or 21x with your current config.
