Just to echo the P1 & P2 disabled, I couldn't get passed 1808 until I disabled P1 and P2, I didn't really see much difference in Everest benchmarks or SuperPi with both disabled.

Lol, I "solved" the boot issue. The customer already had one Seagate ES 500GB disk that he wanted to attach to his new comp.
So I added the drive and just for the heck of it set the Seagate to #1 in the HDD boot list. Guess what.. the VR Raid 0 with Vista on it, now in 2nd position, boots up fine, without any delays or errors (since the Seagate doesn't contain any OS).
If I change the priority back to the Raid array being #1 I get "boot disk error" again, perfectly replacable. I cleared CMOS several times and even reflashed 1002, so no OC problem and no corrupt bios
Neither ideal nor logical solution, but it works. Better than having to leave Vista in ur drive.
By the way, I'm running 1700/2000 unlinked with a Q9550 at 3,6Ghz and 2x2GB CSX Diablo, P1 & P2 enabled (needs 1,54V Vnb bios and good cooling though, water through Fuzion block + MX-2 under the hood in my case).
Sadly I had to RMA the last Diablo D9GTS kit I got, as it couldn't do more than 1600 C7 without errors. CSX rep said their last batch of GTS evidently contained some bad samples and they were out of stock on Micron-based Diablos, so I had to use some Samsung for quick replacement.
They run 2000 at 1,9V for sure, CL10-9-9-24 kinda sucks tho
Quick question.
Just switched to a Q9650, upped vcore alittle, and started prime95,
failure is in the form of reboot. no red individual core failures, just reboot.
Has anyone run into this and how did you solve it.
Very strange and repetable.
Interesting. If I disable P1 and P2 I get <9,000 read and >69ns latency. With them enabled, I get almost 12,000 read and <50ns latency.
Anyway, at <9,000 and >69ns, I passed 3 or 4 passes of memtest, and over 4 hours prime. Sorry, no screenshot, just popped the circuit breaker before I could save it. It won't do 1800/1800 at the following voltages, but this is where I'm at now:
BIOS - 1002 non-beta:
1780 QDR
1780 DDR3
Unlinked
8-8-8-24-2t-all sub-timings on auto
P1 - Disabled
P2 - Disabled
Vcore - 1.325
LLC - disabled
PLL - 1.54
VTT - 1.3
Mem - 1.86
NB - 1.4
SB - 1.55
Not mentioned - Auto
Now I just gotta get the speed back.:D
Here.
I just found the new 1103 bios will pass memtest at 1800 for me if I let it set the main mem timings on auto. Auto @ 1800 linked and synced it sets it to 9-10-10 26 2T. Memtest bandwith is lower than my 1702 settings at 7-7-7-22 2T
so I see no benefit but it's the first time i have been able to pass memtest @ 1800 with any settings.
Trigger, can you please post your BIOS settings/voltages and version for 7-7-7-22-2t?
Thanks.
my Q6600 @ 3.5Ghz the vcore is low 1.38 but the VTT and PLL are big
VTT 1.38
PLL 1.62
work 48hours prime95 all fine
try VTT 1.3 1.34 1.36 freeze even in stock speed  my E8500 too
Q6600
but when i move from x9 multi to x8 and boot in 3.8Ghz work fine with only VTT 1.28  but the temp are too high the v-core voltage goes to 1.48 will try when the water cooling solution come in 30 days
and this loadline calibration is that bug when i fix 1.45 vcore and when the loadline calibration is enable the evereset says the vcore is 1.5
Same thing is happening to me.I had 4 raptors(raptor Xs) in Raid 0 and I was having problems getting the board powered up inside the case(the lights would just blink after I press the button and the fans spin for a second and the board was powering itself down).Every thing was working fine and I thought the mobo was dead again. I disconnected everything, took it outsode the case to debug the problem and guess what the board powers up fine, but it's not booting into XP.I get the "Boot disk failure" message even though all the HDDs are connected and recongnized in BIOS. I was cussing and thought I would have to reinstall XP, popped in the XP disk(DVD drive was already the first in the boot order), it came up with the message "Press any key to boot from CD" message. I don't press any key and BAM boots right into XP. Very wierd to say the least . This is with 0901 Bios.
These are my settings on my E8600 if anybody needs it

I also did intel burn test(50 times) which I dont have screen shot of.
new nvidia drivers out 15.23
Thanks tekjunkie and Trigger5521 for the settings:up:
I'll give 'em a shot over the next couple days....really can't wait to get outta' work now:D
I'm really having a hard time with mine....since the spring....:shakes:
Side thought: I was somewhat concerned and now I'm relieved....my "CPU Level up" field in BIOS disappeared a long time ago (don't remember which rev. bios killed it) but, I see both you guys' is missing too....not that I used it, just that it was weird, one day I just noticed it missing.
@Erikz: Another side thought: I got a Q6600 doing 450 x 8 on a 680i Striker for over a year now....just a hunch, but I would think you should be able to do something similar on 790i.
Hi,
I am new to this forum and have been reading through the various threads relating to the Striker II Extreme.
I have been trying to overclock my rig but have not had much success, I first tried these settings;
Upon booting into Windows it bluescreened so I upped the CPU Voltage to 1.4 volts. Again did the same when booting into Windows, I then dropped the multiplier to 9 it got to the logon screen I put in my password and as the Windows loading sound went to play it bluescreened.Code:Extreme Tweaker

Any help would be gratefully received.
Thanks!
Hmm. never paid attention to it. Also, I was able to reduce the Vspp to 1.42 and did a prime run of 9 hours no problem. Next is to see how much low of a PLL I can go

What are the NB temps like on this with a quad core
i briefly had a Striker II Formula but the NB idled at 65c and went into the 80s under prime with a Q6600
im hoping the S2E wont be as bad as that
Help needed.
I have this configuration in my gaming PC
Asus Striker-II-Extreme nF-790i
Intel Core2 Duo E8500 3.16Ghz
Corsair Twin3X 2048MB DDR3 1600Mhz PC-12800 Twin Pack (2x 1024mb
Gigabyte GeForce GTX280 1GB DDR3 PCI-E x16 video card,
2 of 150Gb Western Digital Raptor 10,000 RPM SATA Hard Drive, in raid config
Cyber-Sport 1000W GamePWR PSU,
For the first 4 months it ran without a hitch using default settings, now I get random freezes, mainly when the system is idle - but can happen anytime, even when I am staring at the bios screen. Was originally on Bios 0704, I have tried 0901 and 1002 - same behaviour.
What information would i need to post for someone to give me some advice on how to diagnose this?
thanks in advance
I seem to have found some stability at 450 with multiplier at 9.
Seems to be running sweet!
Have you tried changing your memory timings to 9-9-9-24-2T I beleive this memory is rated to work at those timings. Also would be worth you opening your PC and popping out one of the memory sticks and checking what the voltage rating is on the side of it. Then set your memory voltage to what it says on the stick of memory.
Thanks Sweep, after I read your reply, I looked at the memory - it says 7 7 7 20 1T. I tried both 9-9-9-24-2T and 7-7-7-20-1T settings - still freezes.
I noticed this morning that the core clock reading (on the Nvidia monitor) seems to cycle between 3167 and 2000, would this be a sign that the cpu is developing a fault?
Edit, that cycling seems to be caused by speedstep - I have switched it off. System still freezes though.
Manually set the linked and synced speed you want and set all memtimings to auto and see what it gives you.
Also do you have loadline calibration enabled? If so this has been known to give random freezes on desktop when it drops the voltage due to inactivity/low load.
I had the same problem as you do when i bought the board and I was pissed off that I could not get the board stable even @ stock speeds. Granted, I was one of the first ones to jump on the bandwagon of 790i and the BIOS was so immature at that time. Anyway, here is what I did to get the board stable @ stock speeds.Give it a shot and see if it helps.
Leave everything on auto except the memory voltages and timings and manually enter the vdimm and the timings that your memory were rated for and run memtest for atleast 5 passes. If memtest freezes or errors out, go into "Voltage Monitor" section of the BIOS and see what are the values for VTT and VSPP and increase them by a notch(usually it's the SPP voltage). After you are memtest stable, you can boot into windows and run SPI or prime or whatever you run for the stability test. Hope this helps.
Tek is right on the money on that one. The ram voltages can really be off depending on what RAM you have. My ram is rated at 2.0V, auto for bios was much much lower. Might be the case for you as well.
Uhh ohh... Got my card back from RMA today and it looks like my bottom PCI express slot is dead. Wonderful..... I might be in big trouble too since I took off the fusion block. Sigh.... what to do what to do....
I wonder if they will take the board back without the fusion block on there. Don't suppose anyone knows if I can get a replacement heatsink assembly.
On the bright side EVGA sent me an overclocked card. 738 core clock. Kinda nice
I would personally get another hard drive, disconnect all other install a fresh copy of Vista with the latest drivers. Before installing take out any hardware which you dont need so just leave it with Sound, Graphics etc. Install it up and see if it runs stable, if it works then it shows it could be your current installation, also by disconnecting unecessary hardware you are able to isolate whether its something else causing it.
I've got an issue with my Striker 2 Extreme mobo, and i'm just wondering if anyone has/had it, and what is the solution to that problem, if any.
My system is a Striker II Extreme mobo with bios 0507, a QX9650, 2x EVGA 9800GX2, 4 Gigs (4X1 Gb) OCZ ReaperX DDR3 PC3-10666C6, SoundBlaster X-FI Fatality, 4 HDD (2 Raptors as boot up drives for XP and Vista and other 2) and a CoolerMaster 1000W, everything put together with watercooling inside a CoolerMaster Stacker 832, and everything is in stock and in auto.
I managed to fix my system after removing 2 gigs and 1 of the 9800GX2 (don't ask me how :-P), but now i have another problem.
After unsucessfully updating my bios using a usb pen or even floppys, i thought to myself "I've used ASUS update before and it worked everytime...so why not now"...so i used the latest ASUS Update to update my bios from 0507 to 0901 from windows XP.
It worked fine on XP, BIOS succesuffly updated and it asked to restart the computer...i clicked on yes...and now the computer won't boot past DET DRAM...even worse, it seems that the computer is having hiccups...what i mean is it re-starts by itself every 3 to 4 seconds after you press the power button, and the only way to stop it is to press down on the power button to shutdown the pc completely.
I tried using clear cmos and everything, but it doesn't seem to work.
As anyone of you found this problem, and it there a way to fix it?
EDIT - Fixed the problem by removing the battery for over 3 hours :-P
seymourp
use 1.64 voltage at default memory timings
it's work for me
Help me. My pc is unstable.. I try everything, but

Dejobar, you're running the Q6600 2,4ghz at 3.6ghz.
That "could" be the problem of your instability.
I can't run my Q6600 past 3.1Ghz.
I buy Asus Striker II Extreme to drive q6600 at 3.7, not 3.0. I am sad.
It took me a week of bios tweaking to get this motherboard stable. Of the dozens of motherboards I have had none and that includes a 680i and 780i were this difficulty to get stable. Best overclock was with the 680i to 4GHz with this same chip I now have in this 790i at 3.6GHz. After I recovery from the stress of overclocking to 3.6 I hope to muster up the courage to try 4GHz again. This may be a very capable motherboard but it is very unforgiving. There is a very narrow margin for error if any at all.:shrug::up:
Can anyone get cpuz to read VCore correctly on this board???
nuclear
dont waste your time with cpuz
you can use everest (4.60) and probe II (1.04.52)
Is there a performance difference from running 2cards in SLI in the top and middle slot opposed to the top and bottom slot?
I guess it depends on the cards that you run. Remember that the middle slot is PCI-E 1.1. If you run a PCI-E 2.0 card in the middle slot, there MIGHT be a difference. I could check it out for you with heavily OCed GTX 260s in SLI with vantage.
Edit: It looks like it does affect the performance. I lost 2k in vantage.
This is with my GTX 260s in slots 1 and 3.
http://img218.imageshack.us/img218/3...and3co6.th.jpg
and this is with them on 1 and 2
http://img523.imageshack.us/img523/6...and2qx8.th.jpg
Also, when I put the cards on 1 and 2, the responsiveness of the system was pretty bad too. There was a lot of stuttering in vista. I have 4 raptors in raid 0+1 seagate+1 DVD drive all on the MCP with 1.55V. Considering that the middle slot is connected to the MCP, the MCP might require more volts if you have something like me(with all 6 sata ports occupied).
Hey guys i am having some problems running Quad SLi on this board. When i first setup the system i ran 3d Mark vantage and some of the benchies were only running at half screen, mainly the feature tests 1 & 2 and Test 3 was fullscreen but it flickering quite badly. Games wont play either, grid will show me an intro and then crash, crysis crashed after a few minutes of real jerky gameplay and when i tried the GPU benchmark, it crashed immediately. I tried both cards seperatly and they worked fine, and then i tried both pci-e slots and found that i got better average fps with crysis benchmark in 2nd blue slot by about 3 - 4 fps.
This is my setup
Asus Striker 2 Extreme
Intel Q9550 @ 3.82
2X Evga 9800GX2
2 Gig OCZ 1800
Toughpower 1200
Dell 3008
Vista 64
Video Drivers 177.83
Any ideas?
I use everest and believe it's measurment, but I'm sorta on a mission to understand why cpuz works with so many other boards and not the S2E.
I went to the cpuz forum and the moderator/author requested a register dump.
I'll provide him with that today when I get home from work..
I'll kepp the thread posted if there's a resolution.
Thanks for doing that for me, that provided a lot of great information!
I took a look at my board with a flashlight, and it looks like I am the cause of my problem. It looks like I may have damaged the board when installing the video cards, there are a few scratches in the PCB right where the video card mounting tabs notch into the case. It looks like I took out some ciruits going to the 2nd and 2rd PCI-e ports. It looks like I'll be stuck with one video card until I get a different board. Thinking about trying out the EVGA 790 FTW. Maybe I'll use my SE2 for some Dry ice runs to practice.
Just wanted to ask real quick
Is this the end of the S2E? Cause this thread has been going from inactivity to instant death (fatal1ty mode)...
I think so. I have a feeling I subconciously damaged my motherboard on purpose. Maybe its time for an Imac. LOL
If it matters at all, CPU-Z voltage never read correct on my 680i Striker either. Of course, BIOS monitoring on both boards is wrong too....if I compare with a DMM.
Vcore, SPP, MCP, and Memory voltages all read higher with my DMM than with the bios monitoring. I think my Everest shows exactly what the bios monitoring shows....but I'm not exactly sure. I'll check if you want. Let me know....and please keep us posted.
Edit: Also, I have a P35 Gigabyte board that doesn't read the same vcore either....cpu-z vs. DMM.
LOL... For me itīs not the end.... because i decided to push a bit more form my S2E.... :p:
Was running my QX9650@3825Mgz 1800SFB linked ans sinked with 4GB of memory running at 8-8-8-21...
Now testing QX9650@3910Mhz 1840FSB linked and sinked with 4GB of memory running at 8-8-8-19....
Rock stable at the moment runing Prime95 for 2 Hours.....
Will post screenshot later..
Thats great M@G!C :D
I will also spend a lot of time overclocking my stuff, CANT WAIT!
Btw, Do you run prime more than 8 hours? I recommend running prime95 for 8 hours, more is worthless. If its stable 8 hours, then you should be good for anything and make sure to run Intel Burn Test at least 100 times :)
Here it is.....

I still haven't made bench runs using my e8400 yet, I've been spending a lot of time setting up a Liquid Cooling bench I have been using the SIIE as my 24/7 machine while I get the wc testing gear ready.
hello there, ı am a strıker 2 FORMULA user and i am not happy with my board because of the overheating NB and SB 200 chip (which would almost cause me to break the full heat pipe system)
i decided to change my board
anyway,
ı expect you to be really objective as a striker EXTREME user.:)
does thıs board have an overheating problem , is it a good overclocker, any problems with the bios...(does its bios enable us to reach the awesome fsbs)
in summary did nvidia790i satisfy you ? or is it better to go on with intel x48
i really need your comments to benefit from your experiences thanks a lot..
Has anyone got quad SLI working properly on this board? I have been trying for weeks now and cant get it to run right. Any help please?
Beware today, check ASUS downloads ;)
Sit back, grab a cold drink.
Little surprise coming for all
ı had said "guys" but
thanks a lot u helped me so much, kids..
:shakes:
Ok the changelog is UP, but the file is not ready yet. Please wait a little more... is all I ask :D
If it doesnt come by tonight, I will see if I can post it

Has anybody tried priming with the x64 version in Vista x64??. I can do prime x32 24 hours stable on this board, but prime x64 hangs after like 4 hours?? I will also try 1104 and give it a shot.
Never tried x64 and I dont think I will for now...
Wierd problem with 1104. I had both my keyboard and mouse connected to the USB hub on my monitor(DELL 2001FP) and the monitor's USB up port was connected to the S2E. Everything was fine with 0901. With 1104, there is a lot of input lag with both the keyboard and the mouse. So, I have for now, disconnected my USB hub on my monitor and have connected both the keyboard and mouse straight to the board. Anybody else having problems with 1104 and a usb hub.
M1L2 Very nice results. I'll try tonight, I dont think I will be prime stable, but hopfully I can at least post with 1.5 vcore.
Running 1104 now just tried some 1800 linked and synced no go even with ram at 9-10-10-28 2T.
1702 is still best I can get. I think the OCZ just cannot handle anymore.
The usb hub was fine with the 0901 BIOS. So I don't think it's the hub and the BIOS settings were the same. I flashed to 1104, did a CMOS reset, loaded up the 0901 stable settings from the BIOS profile, boot into Vista and it had terrible input lag. I connect the keyboard and mouse to the board direct and everything is fine.
Sorry for not being clear on this. I used the Prime x32 version in Vista x64 stable for more than 24 hours, but x64 Prime on x64 Vista hangs. It's just an application hang and not a total System hang.As soon as I kill Prime, everything is normal.
my best try was with 0704 Bios and the OCZ3P1600EB4GK
http://freenet-homepage.de/Leippi/191.JPG
prime stable, and with the other Bios i canīt bring it up over 1860 MHz
It's now up on ASUS FTP.
Anyone experience any significant differences between 1002 and 1104?
Idk yet since I havent tried any BIOS higher than 0901, but I feel like 1104 is a good BIOS, will see if its true :D
Hello boys
Could someone be so kind and help me OC this rig to decent speed? I was thinking like 4.8Ghz. the biggest problem i am having with ram cause i dont know the right timings and voltage! At factory settings i get 18.000 in 3d mark is this normal?
