I am still getting 12K reads and I dopped the voltages too for a safe 24/7 settings on air. This is probably gonna be my 24/7 settings on my E8600-S2E combo and am probably going for the 790i FTW with 280 GTX tri sli for my other rig with my QX9650 on it all WC.

Okay, so here is where I'm at. I am amazed that RAM won't go higher, it is 2x2GB, but still, 1780 is it or LCD Poster does not get past DET DRAM.
Reached 1780 Linked and Synced. SuperPi, PiFast and wPrime ran without a hitch, Vantage on the other hand did not, Display Driver kept crashing. CPU-Z Valid. Vantage run had to be done at 1700 Linked and Synced, only P14128, but good for me thus far.
I keep a spreadsheet of everything which is attached, that has every setting in BIOS listed. Currently running and benching at 1800 FSB, 1600 DDR, just have to run Vantage then on to another setting. :up:
I would also like to be able to run at least 1800 Linked/Sync, thats the perfect spot. FSB2000/RAM1800 is also a nice spot, but a quad to get to 500 would need to be a rare sample. FSB1800/RAM2000 would also be nice as long as you dont need more than 1.90

Just one question regarding the "new" Intel Burn Test, is it reliable? I have run it 10 times and (for my surprise) it passed all 10, but Im surprised because I started it, went to eat, come back and is done?
Is it true that with this program you can test stability within 15 mins? (I ran the test 10 times with Maximum stress)

Odd thing when I went back to a 1700 Linked and Synced at CAS7 (24/7 settings), NICs won't grab a DHCP address and won't communicate when I manually set an IP on my network. I tried uninstalling the devices, but that didn't seem to work either...checked for corruption, none found.
Anyone else had any problems with the NICs (nForce 9.64 drivers) not working?
YES..I have had the strangest issues with the nic's when overclocking. Currently I'm using 9.64 for everything except the nic's, 15.17 for just the nic's themselves. This setup has been working well for me, one thing I do now when I'm trying higher overclocks is to disable the nic's in the bios first. If OC passes memtest re-enable before going into Vista.Quote:

You may have a corrupt nic driver, the install and uninstall does not always work correctly, if you run the nvidia control panel and the networking tree is not there your driver is corrupt. Uninstall reinstall.
Also try going into your router and releasing the address, power off router and then back on, this helped me a few times. The whole teaming virtual driver thing is finicky for sure. I use VNC to remote access my computer so I have to keep an eye on the IP the virtual driver is using, it can't change or VNC has to be reconfigured, you'd be surprised how many times it's gone and switched from using a combined single IP to 2 seperate ips. No idea why.

No, I gave up on CAS7 at 1800 last night. Night was drawing to a close and I wanted to see if I could get preliminary settings in the 1800-1860 range, so I bumped to CAS8. Got 1800, 1820, 1840 and 1860 at CAS8...booted into Vista using 1860 and thats when the NIC driver issue happened. Ran some quick tests and went back to 1700. NIC problem was still there, needless to say I did not get to bed when I should have. :shakes:Quote:

Hi,I have this same motherboard striker 2 extreme,along with Q9550,4GB of Corsair Dominator ddr3 ram,sli gtx280,I just wanted to check to see if I am running safe voltages for 24/7 running,I have the Q9550 overclocked with these settings.
FSB memory and FSB QDR are linked and sinked at 1800mhz which gives me 3825mhz on the Q9550.
Ram settings are
P1 enabled
P2 enabled
8-8-8-24-2T
Voltages are
CPU Vcore 1.43125
Mem volt 1.80
All other settings are at auto except I turned of that speedstep.
The system is really stable,but I mainly wanted to know is the cpu vcore voltages safe to run for 24/7 on air.
Nothings is getting to hot I don't think,the cpu is around 32 degrees at idle and gets up around 60 to 65 degrees on full load,the north bridge sits at around 51 to 53 on idle and will go anywhere from 55 to 60 on full load.
Another strange thing I have notist,is that the readings in windows from the programs Everest and CPUZ seem to give different readings on the vcore,Everest tells me the vcore is at 1.44v to 1.46v at idle,but CPUZ says the vcore is only running at 1.376v not sure which one is right,hopfully CPUZ is,still both are giving me different readings from what I set in the bios.

I finally think I got my Gskills working on this board. The problem before could have been due to more vdimm voltage that it was necessary(was 1.92v now 1.9v). But, I still have to prime though for atleast 10 hours to declare it uber stable.

I have a SIIE, actually its my fourth but anyway. Now i continue to read about all the problems and difficulties to get the board stabile.
But since i got the last RMA i can easely set the FSB to 460MHz with the timings at 7-6-6-16 CR1 (Using 2GB Corsairs, 2.00V). If i use my OCz 2x2GB 1600EB i can go to about 1810MHz 8-7-7-20 CR2(1,92V) before it goes :banana:
The CPU is at 4370MHz for 24/7(bench tested @4,6-4,7GHz). Everything is Prime, OCCT and 3DM stabile. Well to be honest iīve just run prime for 8h(how long do one need to run prime before the system can be considerd stabile?).
Now i do have some difficulties to push the FSB higher. If i do the board needs to be reset. So 460 is the current stabile maximum that iīve reached.
The rig is the one in my Sig.

Yep, it does. But for what it's worth, when I had my Qx9650 on, it would pass prime for 10 hours , but it would fail the burn test. But I guess it's a moot point now since I am now both Intel burn test stable and prime stable for 8 hours. I just had to up the vcore a notch. Now I can move on to find a new home for my Qx9650(deciding between rampage extreme and the 790i FTW).Quote:

Guys, got a new build here with an S2E (again).
One small problem: After a fresh Vista 64 install onto a 2x300GB Verlociraptor Raid 0 it keeps saying "Raid error while writing to drive X" in windows. Yes, Windows is working fine but it keeps popping up, like a balloon tip. Sometimes it's drive A, sometimes drive B. As far as I can tell, there is nothing wrong with the array, Win works fine, I can install and run anything, it's also very quick in response.
So I checked the drives with mHDD and that WD tool, both say the drives are fine. Using latest official bios (1004 or something) and no OC yet. This started after I installed the NV chipset driver v. 15.17 I think (obviously this was the first thing I did after the 1st Windows boot).
I too have consitently been getting an error message about a Raid failure. And like you there is no problem with the drives. In the past two months I had one problem with the drives but other then that is like a false alarm. I suspect it may be driver related as even Nvidia control panel reports the drives as heathly after each raid failure message. I have messed with voltages and bios setting without effect. The machine has been stable with mild overclock but I have spent days trying to "stablize" the system from the raid failure message without success. I have now just learned to ignore the message and just wait for new drives in hope of a fix.
Hi all....been lurking here for quite some time....thought I was finally getting close to 450 x 9 for crunching 24/7 (well, minus a few hours of gaming here and there:D)....finally got memtest 2.01 to actually make it through a few passes by actually lowering my NB from 1.46 to 1.36 (in BIOS), but Prime still fails....froze after 4 hours....can't crunch WCG without freezing (haven't tried in a while though).

It passes memtest at least 3 passes. It passes Winblows memory diagnostic tool (default....what are you guys using for settings for this?). Passes OCCT 1hr CPU, 1 hr MEM, 2 hr MIX. Passes 3dm06. Can't get it to Prime successfully. I seem to be able to game without trouble....mostly been sim-racing lately....not much of a load on the system though. Any suggestions for 24/7 stability/Prime stability? Thanks for any help.

I've tried 2 times now, Vista kills itself at exactly the same point.
1. I install Vista 64 Ultimate SP1.
2. It completes without hassle, I install Nforce driver 9.64 and reboot
3. It installs fine, reboots and throws no errors so I install the 177.41 GFX driver and reboot
4. It says "boot disk failed" after that and won't boot, booting from CD and trying repair doesn't work either
On the VR Raid0. WTF should I do? Go without Raid? Sucks. Try 15.17 driver and disable NCQ? Try with 9.64 again but also disable NCQ?
Man this blows.
Check your Boot Order on BIOS
Make sure your have your two velociraptors first, then the other stuff after. That happens to me when I had my Maxtor to boot first instead of my Raptor lol.
Also, you guys can try 19.06 which is the candidate to become WHQL, is in Guru3d

PS and no, I'm not saving the money for a Nelahem board, When in no way in hell can a afford a Core i7 Extreme right now.
So I'm either RMA'ing it, Then Selling it, or using it in a backup case.
Also the Nforce 19.06 drivers are the easiest to install on vista for a RAID setup.

I will also have to make a decision once my WC comes. I just spent $130 two days ago buying some of the components, still a long way to get all the WC parts, but Im getting there. Then, it will all be about overclocking, results and stability.
I cant afford a Core i7 right now neither, but heck, I have spent 3k on this system and I know I can make it last a long-@ss time.

If I don't have any CD/DVD in my drives, but set boot priority to HDD 1st (no other drives attached, only the VRs so they are on top naturally) the mobo just says boot disk failure after a few seconds.
Now, if I insert the Vista DVD and reboot, I see the "press a button if you want to enter setup" screen - remember, I did NOT change boot priority, it's still on HDD 1st - so why the hell does it boot from CD then?!
Now on to the good part: If I wait a few seconds and don't enter setup, Vista will boot up fine.

No, I had a very good benching experience with the board once I figured out the quirks, just wish I had a better chip. I ran into a hard FSB wall at 480, memory can go higher, but the chip just won't go. I didn't want to crank the Vcore and try since I don't have a backup at the present time.Quote:

Wow.... Stock voltages on everything and I just booted in at 4ghz.... I have a feeling this chip might be a monster! I had to have 1.45 to even get into windows on the quad. next step 5ghz... ill post some screen shots soon.

How do you remove the CMOS battery on this board. I dont want to damage it by prising it out?

2gb ocz ReaperX 1333 with that 6-5-5-something latency
runnin vista ultimate 32 bit
my processor and motherboard are both watercooled.
xspc delta v2
liang pump
xspc 360 rad
and that standart asus nb block
im just tryin to get it overclocked first only with playing with the mp, and i just raise the voltages till the highest voltage that still stays green in the bios (and pumped cpu voltage upto 1.4).
tried types of cpu clocks, but i just cant get it stable.
when i start multicore prime it just almost insta-fails.
im lookin for a 24/7 overclock, otherwise i woudnt get this cpu + mobo.
i have that 0902 bios in, and on normal speeds everything is workin.
it seems i have the baddest xq9650 around.
and another little problem.
i just cant get accurate reedings of my tempatures.
Iddle :
Asus probe : CPU 22
coretemp : core 0: 34 core1: 50 core2: 50 and core3 : 42 (only the first core changes in temp)
everest : cpu 19
how im gonna now what are my cpu temps hehe.

I bet it's somehow related to the Velociraptor Raid 0 I'm using on this build. Never had that problem with previous builds and the same mobo.
And since there seems to be some kind of problem with the 790i and the VRs in Raid it's got to be related.
Edit: Guys, where the hell can I download bios 1103? Searched everywhere, even manually on the Asus ftp. It's not there.
But there are other users here with VRīs in raid 0 and they report no problems at all with them....
