Add another $169 Q9550 from MicroCenter to the list. Got mine week before last. Batch L846B727, pack date 6/12/09. 4.0GHz OCCT Linpack stable @ 8.5x471 on Gigabyte P45-UD3L, 1.33-1.34V LLC enabled (1.375V in bios), MCH + 0.1V, VTT + 0.1V, all power-saving/thermal-throttling features disabled, all else stock. Shooting for 4.1-4.2GHz now that my A/C is working and it's not 80+ degrees Fahrenheit in the living room, as soon as my house guests leave and I have access to the PC again. I'll post relevant screenies as soon as I can.

bigwill: I found that increasing VTT to 1.3V was the key to 4GHz stability on my Gigabyte board.

I live in Dayton, the only almost decent comp place we have here is 5oclock (5oclock.com). MicroCenter is cheaper, better selection and sometimes cheaper than newegg. I went down to get a new mobo for my p4 whs server. Ended up walking out with a new mobo for my main computer and a q9550. Put my old p5k in my server and put this new setup in my main pc.Quote:

Again, those are the only settings I have. No pciex settings, nothing.
This is really pissing me off, I can't touch any of the settings. Hell I don't think the q9550 is supported as the default volt setting is 0.0. I can't change anything other than the cpu voltage or it wont boot.
I might return everything and get an i7 920, intel board and some ddr3. The whole point of not going i7 was I didn't want to have to get new mem.

maybe it's time to invest into a new board if can afford 1 never dealt with a XFX mb b4 and it's setting in the bios
the memory volts should be on 1.8v at 5-5-5-18 that should set to manual not auto if your running stock speeds
but if you change the cpumulti to 448x8.5=3808 that means your memory will run at 896 not 800 so your timing
gotta be loose instead of 5-5-5-18 try 5-6-6-20 loosen it up alittle try your cpu voltage at +0.125v theses Q9550
don't alot voltage to run at 3.8...I don't think theres a vdroop in those boards like gigabyte...

Just got back from MC and dropped in my new L847C219 from MC in St. Louis Park (Minnesota.) VID is 1.2375 and it finished IBT at my old Q9650's 3.0Ghz Low Voltage settings saved in my lovely UD3P with 8GB of G. Skill Pi Black :) Pack date is the same 7/10/09 as the other fellow. Keep me updated on how she clocks and I'll do the same :up:
1.010v load for 3.02Ghz, max temp of 39C in Core Temp.
Time to go try the 4.25Ghz profile :up:

edit: I just burst my own happy bubble. the 790i doesn't support ddr2. I guess i'll get the ud3p. I'm sure as hell wanting sli... for no reason as I only have 1 vid card and I don't game =p
