Well, I don't know if you had checked the manual, but sometimes when your system doesn't post, you can try to restart it and then during boot press DEL, until the system starts normally.Then you can insert the BIOS and change the faulty settings.Quote:

this should give you a CPU/NBVID value close to 1.42v ..It will work for 3.3-3.35ghz and will be about the same temps you are at now with VDD @2.8v.
The ASUS 79-T will use more Vcore Vs your OLD Mobo MSI..Since the VIDs auto adjust with higher Vcore with SB750.using ACC mearly adds more or less volts to what you intially have set in CPUvoltage and NBvoltage. Using +/- or AUTO ACC.. I disable this ACCfeature after finding it dosnt always auto adjust and will cause a (noboot) if it auto adjust with too much or not enuff volts.
Set the New VDD value and others i have listed below.
Set VDD to 2.8v
set HT to 2.8v
Set Core/pcie to 2.8v
Southbridge AUTO
Keep me posted.
Note: this should give you stability. Even Raising the CPUvcore to 1.6v and Nbvcore to 1.52v on this mobo is no problem ,, your temps are just fine..
I could post Volts or even Screens of what to set( Ive tested them all) while not using ACC for up to 3.5ghz/2600nb if ya like.

This is with 1.6v on both NB/CPU
screen is With out ACC...
remember ACC only adds or subtracts volts from what you origanaly set for Vcores.

Which slots do you use for the RAM sticks? I have 2x1GB SuperTalent and I use them in the first two slots next beside the CPU (yellow and black).

OK well I think that my PSU efficiency may be to blame here, I noticed that whenever I start running a 3DM06 run that the PSU fan starts spinning up faster and faster during the graphics tests, then will slow down during the CPU tests, then speed up again, which to my mind is a clear sign that its having to work harder to provide enough juice when the x-fired 4850's are running at max use....
So I'm wondering if when I try to up the VCore etc, and then the cards try to start up whether the PSU is just insufficient to meet the needs..
My PSU is a 2 year old THermaltake Toughpower 750W.
I'm owndering now whether to step up to a 1Kw PSU or just wait it out until the PhenII's come out, which won't be that far off now really...!!!
I probably won't be adding any more gfx cards for the time being, though had thought about getting another 4850 for a HTPC I have, and might have stuck it in this PC to try out Tri-CF, but given the whole PSU thing I'm not sure it would be wise now...!!!

Hey Kaz,, The PSU is just Cycling the Fan for Heatload when the CPU and GPU's are pushing it..Quote:

Run 3mark06 with Rivatuner open in the back ground to check if the GPU's are downclocking in CPU test..this will be less load and the PSU should then be able to use less fan(less heat from load).
If that is the case then i would not worry about the PSU losing volts or trying to up the volts...Its doing its normal cooling cycle.
Although a PSU of 850watts or higher is what id use for Tripple Xfire...I dont think your PSU is a problem ATM untill you use tree cards.
I only use a 650watter for runing 3870x2 @ 920/2200 with my CPU @ 3.5ghz with 1.65volts for CPU/NB...I know i pull Max load and i allways run My GPU fan @ 100% in benches ,,GPU fan stays @ 100% on every test...I can hear my PSU cycle the Fan up to cool its load...This is normal function of most PSU's..Yes your probally pushing it close to max load.
Also for a little more GPU coolness,,
look into what your GPU's are doing during 3Dmark06 and youll see that they may be cycling down per ATIpowerplay..If you dont have a Oc set for them or dont Use 100%fan .Powerplay is know/ can cycle the clocks Up/down it all test more so losing points in Mark test..I always set fans to 100% or disconnect the Blue fan wire(unpin only Blue wire) on each card to enable 100% fan . Sometimes Rivatuner may not do it for both cards.

Well the system doesn't crash at my current settings..!!
What I meant was that the PSU may be why I can't seem to OC the CPU any higher, i.e. if the PSU is already at its threshold, then upping the voltage and clocks on the CPU may be increasing the strain.
I've managed to boot into Windows at 3.3Ghz and even at 3.4Ghz but as soon as I try to run anything intensive, especially 3DM06/3DMVantage, then it will crash almost straight away.
Thats why, when I noticed the PSU fan increasing speed during the 3D tests in 3DM06, I started wondering about my PSU maybe being the limiting factor.
The Riva Tuner idea to monitor the CPU/GPU use thing, thanks for the idea, but I have Everest Ultimate setup with the built in Logitech LCD display enabled, as I have the Logitech Z-10 speakers with LCD display and I have all my system temps, and CPU/RAM/GPU utilisation showing on it, so whenever I run a full screen app, I can see the statistics on the speaker LCD display.... :D
Yes, I have noticed that the GPU utilisation cycles in between tests, so say when the first 3D test load the Proxycon one, that the GPU use go's up accordingly, then when the test finishes and 3DM06 does the system scan before the Firefly Forest test, the GPU use drops to idle again, then cycles back up when the FF test starts again, when the CPU tests start the GPU use is zero, and the CPU use is maxed, (well not maxed but between 95-98% per core etc)
So anyway with all this and noticing the PSU fan thing always speeding up when the gfx cards are in use, I just figured that maybe if its doing that at my current settings, then maybe it was a sign that the PSU was being loaded (possibly to the max) with its current loading, and that maybe thats why I can't seem to OC higher, as the PSU just can't push past this and maintain stability...
Does all this make sense... LOL..!!!
Anyway I'm in 2 minds what to do, I really need to get some new HDD's for storage, I also want to save ready for the PhenII (think of the plural of Genie for the pronunciation..LOL... so Phenii or Feen-I ....if you like....:D ) I also want now to maybe get a better PSU.... but Xmas is coming which is going to cost a pretty penny as well....!!!
I hate this time of year.... there always seems to be things I want to get, but Xmas is always around the corner as well..... :( Last year it was Phenom B2, when I got the 9500, then just after Xmas was the AM2+ mobos, then not long after Phenom B3's, then the 4800 Series, then the SB750 AM2+, (which took long enough) and now its coming up to PhenII.... you got love the ongoing upgrade path.... :D

well, to further my addiction, I bought this board and another 9950, 125'er. What bios should I use .. I read mixed reviews for many versions....

Heavily overclocked i can use my SATA and USB's just fine..No audio pops while using onboard HDsound..
Even my Audigy4 works fine when i run with the GTX260 or 3870x2..
Just take the time to tweak Voltages and Ram..its by far the most stable ..
Most problems arise when people run ACC too+ high or _low or even use Auto instead of manual tuning..Auto can easily undervolt/Overvolt cpu This goes for all bioses ATM.Matter of fact i use a combination of High VDD with ACC+4 and 1.62volts for 3520mhz with 1175mhz ram..
I like this Bios very much.
compared @ 3.5ghz VID's needed to be 1.55 +vdd 2.8 ,,
292x12,,,,
302= 292htt no ACC/auto+2 would reboot
403=292htt No ACC/auto+2 would reboot
504=280htt was real buggy would shut down and have to ClearCmos using ACC.
602=296+ can use ACC+4 with less VID(1.52) while using VDD@2.8@3520
I have not had to Clear CMOS even after +8ACC and FORCING a bunch of reboots testing.Thats a big gain in my book .Means ACC is actually working somewhat.
Ram will vary but i try to use the Highest Freqency i can ,,which is 1220mhz @ below 3.4mhz... 1175mhz for 3520mhz..

Guys is anyone noticing squealing sounds from his setup.When i open cpu tweak the sound goes away, disable , noise back. It's very annoying beacause it transfers through my studio monitors.

Im Also only using a 650watt PSU ATm and seems pretty good...
Your on a 620watt..It could be PSU being noisy or even the GPU4850 making a little noise....
I get no extra sounds though any devices..My sound is crisp and Clean ..I use a Audigy4 with Gaming headphones along with a 5.1 surround set up when i watch DVD's and burn disks.
Also in the BIOS i use CPU tweak enabled.. I dont overclock with AOD except to look at settings.
im using 2.8vdd and +4ACC ATM @ 3.514mhz 2400NB @ 1.65v cpu / 1.6v nb which gives me 1.55vid cpu and 1.46vid nb while using ACC.
I have not heard any sqealing or audio noise through my system with any Overclock i have done on the ASUS 79-T to date.
