Fisrt is seems to me that your NB voltage is a bit high...
I´m ROCK STABLE with my QX 450x8.5 linked ans sinked with 4GB and only 1,48 on the NB! :rolleyes:
Please try this settings:
NB - 1,54v
PLL - 1,56v
VTT - 1,32v
Vcore - ..... Put this setting at you own description... (but no lower than 1.5v) :cool:

Still blue screen before I even load vista. 1.5 Vcore. I have the GTL ref's set at zero right now.
Are you able to post with 10x multiplier with your rig the way it is otherwise?
I havent tried with 10x multiplier.... I´m on air and don´t want togo very high on voltage but i´m pretty shure i´m able to boot with a 9.5x with 1,38V set on BIOS.Quote:

You will have no problems if using later BIOS like 901.
You guys have to keep in mind, like Bench said one day, the NB loves to be as cold as possible.
Also, I dont know how much this helps, but I would try SB at 1.6v. I remember reading one day that the last trick to get those last Mhz on a 680i was to increase the SB voltage.

I tried all of the above settings and it blue screens every time before going into vista. I should also mention I am using the fusion block to cool the motherboard, temps are very cool. NB is 42C CPU 27C

My QX9770/SIIE is both Prime95, OCCT and game stabile @4,5GHz multi x10, FSB@1800.
I have LLC enabled, It wont boot at 9.5 without LLC. I tried lowering my fsb and moving it up slowly and I couldnt get past 1760 at 10x. Highest I could boot just to get into windows was 4300. I am on 0901 bios. I also tried 1600 fsb and bumped the multiplier up to try to hit 4.5ghz but that was a no go as well. Its so wierd that im prime stable at 9x with 1.475 but that extra 450 mhz wont happen. even at 1.5375 Vcore. I'm afraid to go any higher.
I tore down my system to do some maintenance on my water loop, and I'm adding two DTEC GPU blocks to my video cards, so I wont have it all back together until tomorow night for some more attempts. Maybe a new CPU is in the cards for this fall. Too bad I cant swap my CPU out for another QX9650. I had hoped I had a decent overclocker but it looks like I'm stuck.

Fisrt i woldn´t put negative GTL on NB. Where you have -20 change to +20.
Also i dont think you need all that NB voltage sei it to 1,50V.
One more thing... run scandisk and see if it find any errors on your hard drive...

A month ago I was doing death ocs with my CPU 2.v lol, but I shut down and ran stock for about 3 hours. The next day it gave me the CPU INIT error code on the mohterboard LCD. I pulled the battery and notting would help getting it off that error. I let it set for 2 weeks and it came back alive and went past that error code.
Then I setup water on my video cards only to have a bad leak on the motherboard while it was on. It would not start at all after that happend. I cleaned it up with achole, and it still had the same problem about not turning on. I let it set for a week and it started doing the CPU INIT problem again. So I gave it another week(last night was the end)and now I'm on the problems listed below.
OK here is what it is doing
Last night when it came back on, it would turn off the monitor after 15 secs. It also would not boot(I'm 90% sure) after that happend.
This would happen in the preboot screen or in bios.
It will not boot past -10c. It will give me the CPU INIT error code.
When it's warming back up right before it will start it hangs on DRAM, or Vram(I think) test I'm gussing the CPU is frozen still. Tried to start the phase at least 10 times with it.
If I go into bios and hit f10 save and exit the machine will hang on PCI-INIT
BUt after I got off the phone with wile(gave me 30 mins of down time with messing with it) it did boot into windows, but I had to shut it down because my phase was not on.
Does anyone think that this is a CPU problem?
I have tried a different video card, and different DDR3 with using 1 slot as well.
Wile is sending out a E6700 to test with, but I'm wondering if I need to start saving for a new board.

maybe I'm an unlucky guy but all the fuzion blocks were leaking. I mounted em like I was told by the manual, s2e and rampage block were leaking. but nothing happened since I use Feser One fluid.
I would give it a try and test it on air. If necessary, get a decent block for the nb like the EK one.
So any bios newer then 1002? or whatever it's called.
just got the striker with a q9550 and can get to 4.12ghz but not stable just wondering if someone can give me some bios setup please

no lock under windows doing things like internet/downloading, neither under P95 ( stable 9h+ ),

strange. well i had the same problem like u with my 9800gx2 cards (random freezes with sli/quadsli) , but it was solved after installing the 9.64 since the one on the cd was older.

i ll try to re install the 9.64 cleaning everything i can before... you might be right, i did try a lot of drivers lately so it could be not working properly.

i did follow gpu and cpu temp with PC probe and such tools,

neither does the striker II board anymore! there is nothing wrong with striker boards and just like evga all it needed was the right bios. even corruption has been completely rid of since bios 0901 onwards... and i would say that nf790 is probably the best chip available i mean 2000QDR (500FSB) / 2000RAM on a Q9450 is impressive in my bookQuote:

Ok thanks, I'll take a look at the X-14 then althought its a tad expensive. This build is turning into a nightmare. I just tried to remove the heatsink on my GTX280 in order to fit my new EK block and two of the ten screws on the back of the gpu heatsink havent been screwed in straight, there is no way that they can be unscrewed as basically the thread has been locked. Gutted!
Its not like I can RMA a working card to BFG because I cant get the heatsink off, they'll send it straight back to me probably. Any suggestions?

First...my water cooling corrosion issue ended up being a faulty Apogee aluminum top...it had chips and cracks in it. The protective coating was not protecting. This started the reaction...ASUS fusion block was not responsible but ended up in the trash because you can't take it apart to clean it.See picQuote:

I'm liking the monitor, no issues at all with my Gateway, no bannding, pretty even backlight no dead pixels. Take a screen shot of your issue so i can see what you mean. I ended up busting the Fusion block off and using thermal epoxy to glue a swiftech MC-30 chipset block in place, temps are better than they were with the fusion block. I just couldnt convince myself to get rid of the heatipipe set up, I love the way it looks. And on top of that now I have 1/2 inch barbs!
Yeah, I also like the heatpipe, but it does nothing for the SB so thats why Im replacing it. Hate to get rid of it though...
can anyone confirm if the fuzion is copper or alu? I don't want to mix metals :(
hmm, brilliant board, and brilliant overclocks, but we need to know about the fusion block before we buy it for its watercooling goodness.
Fusion Block is copper. Though it is not mandatory to put on water, if you insist on doing so it might be a good idea to remove and reapply the original thermal paste put on by the manufacturer. Mine is under water here on a separate loop since I had some extra parts and a res lying around so I figured why not, no leak issues to date.
As far as the adapters that came with the mobo, here's what you do with them...throw them as far as you can over your fence or balcony, they are nothing but trouble.
Well there was a big discussion on the liquid cooling section and everybody seemed to agree the block was ALU and not copper.
Im not taking the risk, Im just gonna buy a nb block, Bitspower Black Freezer and water cools the SB too :D
Well I'm just going on what an ASUS rep reported so I had to go with their word per se. The fusion block itself is copper and the heatsink that it rests on is alu. They are separate components in a way, the fluid only goes into the block itself, no contact with the aluminum heat sinks. In the end I would say if you want the best results anyway, definitely the best bet is to dump the heatpipe assembly like you are and just slap new blocks on there.
How's your board been behaving btw Slim, hopefully all issues have been cured? :)
Well, no problems over here since Im in stock. Cant overclock since CPU heatsink has no fan and I wont overclock RAM cause I dont want to kill them lol.
Waiting for water cooling parts to go for 3.6Ghz again :D

I was going to say that the Fusion block itself is way to heavy to be just aluminum. Since I'm not going to move to liquid anytime soon, I yanked mine off and replaced it with a EnzoTech CNB-S1, sorta figured it had to be better than that hunk of metal for cooling. Drilled two extra holes in the CNB-S1, lopped off the extra from the mounting ears, applied a bit of MX-2 and used the factory screws to attach it.
The next step may be an EnzoTech SLF-1 on the southbridge, a Swiftech MCX159-CU on the northbridge and ENZOTECH MST-81 on the mosfets. Gointg to see how the temps are with the modified heat pipe monstrosity first.
Yeah it has a lot of weight to it. I am seeing temps in the 35-45C range full load on my NB, so Its at least working better than air. It seems that ambient has a larger factor on my NB than my CPU under water. Maybe one of these days I'll put independant blocks on the NB/SB but im satisfied for now. I have both video cards the motherboard, and CPU in one loop and temps are good so far. CPU showing 55C in core temp full load, so im feelin pretty good. Debating on going with a water chiller or maybe somthing more exotic like a SS, but I'm having trouble finding an affordable one avaliable in the USA that would hold up to my QX9650. I would love 5ghz 24-7 but maybe its just out of reach.Quote:

i have extreme striker 2 with q9300 @ 2.5 ghz that has got a multiplier 7.5.after my last format when i open the ai souite i can see 333mhz * 6=2000 mhz, therefore in the setup menu the multiplier is at 7.5.is there any serious problem or a mistake of the programm?and how can i solve it?

goal, that's quite normal that the cpu is set to 6 during idle. think it's due to the c1e function @ bios.
clocks down to the lowest multiplier @ idle, during load it clocks to the normal multi.
so: q9300 @ idle= 6x333 @load= 7,5x333

I have the Thermalright Ultra-120 Xtreme, but temps are at their max for some reason. I dont want to even bother reapplying everything, is fine at stock anyways, will do that once I have to put my water cooling parts :)Quote:

The latest I was aware of was 901. If 1002 is outdated what are you running. This 1002 I assume is not beta.

I had one instance of corruption with 0901 in a two week period.
So far (almost two weeks) no corruption with 1002.
I did find that loading previous settings generated in 0901 resulted in C1e behaving as though it were enabled (after flashing to 1002 and clearing cmos) when bios said it was disabled.
I cleared cmos again and loaded all settings from scratch and everything is now fine.
Oc'd my 8600 to 4.7 no probs.

Last night, after some pressure from a friend I finally started to OC since getting my board back from RMA (was a bit nervous, yes).
BIOS: 0901
CPU: Q9450
RAM: G.Skill DDR3-1600 2x2GB
Hit 1600 Linked and Sync'd (7-7-7-20, 2T, 1.9V) with ease (had corruption and memory errors prior to RMA)
Hit 1700 Linked and Sync'd (7-7-7-20, 2T, 1.9V), again very easy
Hit 1800 Linked and Sync'd (7-7-7-20, 2T, 1.9V)
Memory Timings and Memory Voltage were the only things modified, everything else was on Auto. :D Started the easy way...:D
1800+ is where problems started to happen and I was too tired to keep going. I'll post up BIOS settings tonight for some help from you all, but what worries me is the result after going above 1800. Going back to stock timings I could not boot into Windows, got the blinking cursor after POST and no amount of tweaking would boot into Windows.
Like I said, will post BIOS settings and some SS's of my results tonight, but just wanted to see if anyone had this happen.

Well, I ran into corruption after the first couple runs. Just couldn't get into Windows. So I reinstalled and wanted to take an image this time, rather than just spinning the wheel.
So, several hours dorking with network bootdisk and rdeploy. Rdeploy just doesn't want to work on this machine...screw it I'm oc'ing.
Triend 1600 Linked and Sync'd (7-7-7-18 2T @1.9V), looks like corruption. Could boot into safe mode just fine, but could not get into Windows. System log just had tons of NTFS errors, which means corruption.
So, I'm back to a base Vista x64 install and went out this morning and picked up Acronis.
I'm using nForce driver version 9.64, Forceware 177.83. I thought this corruption non-sense ended with 0802! What I don't understand is how wacked out this board is. Two nights, reached 1800 Linked and Sync'd, now I can't OC a thing without getting corruption. I do have two partitions on my boot drive, but I cannot believe that would be causing any extra hassle.
Thoughts?
Finally I had some time to mount up my E8600 on the S2E. First boot 500x8.5=4.25GHZ.
