Got some more results with the new BIOS. This is at stock 700/800 too.

looks like most folks are doing well.. seems didn't do anything for this guys HIS X1800XT http://i4memory.com/showthread.php?p=30701#post30701 so probably not worth me trying especially with you guys reporting higher temps - my X1800XT doesn't go beyond 69C max even oc'd with 1.45v on GPU @756/900
True...ppl who already above 700/800 clocks or people not on air cooling should stay away i guess...though a very neat bios for someone who's maxing out at 680/~780 with their original bios :)
Perkam
eva2000: Can you do me a favor? Run a bench at 756/900 and then 756/800 and report the difference.
Right now I am getting higher scores without even touching the Memory.
Just a thought if you could. Thanks and I can't wait to take you out when I get my new Opty:D
That's not going to be easy, i'll guarantee you that ;)Quote:

Well I will try to get close being just on air.
Hopefully the Memory Controllers on my new Opty is as good as my Sandy here. I got 312FSB so far.
updated it at least a bit :thumbsup:Quote:

i think that we 50 or so more mhz out of the memory 200 to 300 points could come by....a bios editor is what we need. i got my pci card ready:)
i havent tested this baby on air, just water cause is hot were i live, but temps in the 80c seem high....i am usually at 39c or so.....on water.
have to run later though my 2nd Opteron 170 arrived and need to test itQuote:

does anyone flashed X1800 XL with this OC bios
Flashed my XT and benching now.
No go here with Gecube XT. with either of the 2 bios files.
I don't even get a chance to flash. when i start atiwinflash i get either a screen full of coruption or the screen goes blank and freezes. Anyone have a clue to what is wrong.
ALWAYS downclock your X1800 video card before you flash to at least 500/500 to prevent corruption and failed bios flash.
Nice, albeit not much of a surprise, considering you could do the same with the 9800pro to xt, x800xt to x800xtpe, and now this....However....Quote:

Something seems a little fishy to me...I know I wouldn't risk that one even if I had a x1800xt, 1.48 is far too high for air cooling on that gpu, considering *supposidly* 1.45 is too much for 110nm...

It all has to do with temps here, Diltech. Those are are getting higher temps at 1.3 and 1.4 volts should be wary if it automatically ups the voltage in 3d...though most have been able to flash it without any big setbacks. If you're worried about longevity of the card, it's ATI's own bios, not a modded one ;)

Also to add that you must use atitool as using overclock tool to Underclock freezes the computer.Quote:

will do a bench test later with cpu at 2.5GHZ and X1800XTPE at stock. and see what i get. here is a screen.

yes i did do a CCC auto detect and i stopped it at 861mhz GPU. i got excited and tried a 3dmark05 test at 759 and the computer froze in about 30 seconds. so i think CCC was testing at 700mhz and even thought it was saying higher every 25 seconds. I think we need a bios editer to see what the setting are for this PE bios.Quote:

All this talk of cards dying after 1100 hours is worrying me. If you play 3 hours a day for 7 days a week. Your card will be lucky to live 1 full year before it expires. No wonder ATI recently changed their warranty from 3 years down to 1. They expect your card to die just shortly after forcing you to buy another. With the heat and volts these things are using its scary.
well before the flash my max stable that i could get at 1.45 on air was 749/1638 68c full load at my max overclock.Quote:

Wondering how the cooling on the Asus EAX1800XT OC fares compared to the stock cooling. I am dying for something better than the stock to see if my temps can be lowered as well as the noise. I have tried checking for cooling results on the new card but came up empty handed. I would love if it lowered temps 10c more at half the volume.
My Warranty on my card is either 2 or 3 years...I don't remember. Some cards do offer a 3 year warranty I believe...
Time to research.
I can't believe ATI themselves went from 3 years down to 1.
The overdrive with this new bios sucks.
the slider is impossible to hit a precise clock, because of the 5000mhz top.
I also tried the automated overclock, it just kept raising above 950mhz I stopped it. But of course no good for benching.
Just use the up and down key on your keyboardQuote:

doensn't exsist a bios modded for the 1800XL?
XL can't work with XT bios (625mhz/750mhz), because memory of XL often doen't arrive at 700mhz
so it need a XT bios modded (625mhz for the core and 600-650mhz for the memory) to flash XL card..
Surely the reason why people are getting better overclocks, is because of the extra voltage, something i don't want for 24/7 operation, and the fan seed is ridicolous.
added voltage is when on 3d?no?.....i am on water so i dont know how bad tha fan sound is,i can imagine though.....just turn it on 100 percent when using the 3d mode?
What does it matter if it's on 3d? I bought the card for 3d, lol. Didn't spend 400quid to stare at a 2D sceen.:)Quote:

is the higher voltage within the safe range.
With the standard bios it is at 1,4V in 3D, with the PE bios it ia at 1,48V, that doesn´t seem dangerous to me.
What should the temp. be kept below?

The OC BIOS does work on the HIS. I am using it and I believe eva2000 flashed it and got it working as well. Not sure if he is still using it.Quote:

I don't think air cooling can get much better than the stock XT's, a variable highspeed fan with heavy copper HS. If you want quiet then look at the waterblocks Greyskull posted, perfect for a gaming rig. I'd never overclock this card on the stock cooling at anything less than 100% fan speed, especially if your running this BIOS.

There are many of us on Air-Cooling doing just great with decent temps.
quicky question to the guys with sapphire x1800xt cards.. what's the software
that comes with it? websites only list the ccc suite, some other crap and a
"software bundle" - wth is in it? club3d drops in a game & some dvd-stuff...
btw, i'm talking about the retail or full retail box here not bulk.
thinking of finally getting a club3d x1800xt tomorrow...
I am not sure how the Club3Ds are clocking. I know the HIS are clocking pretty well. eva2000 and I were hitting 750+ on the core with stock cooler pretty easy.
I got Club's card... haven't actually oced it... just what ccc let's you to do (something like 690/790 ). Haven't install the wc block to it yet so... With stock cooler the temps are somewhere around 68°C after playing (clocks 680/785).
That is a pretty good temp. Is that with stock fan speed control as well?
Yeah... I think... haven't done anything to it... Quess it's on auto... it haven't actually never been at the top rpms on use (figured this out by comparing the start noise and nois while playing or running 3Dmark).
thing is, over here you're lucky to get any 512mb card, and off the x1800xt
type there's only the club3d, the connect 3d and a powercolor available.
notice how powercolor states the clocks for the x1800xt 512 as 600/700
wtf. anyway, those are the cards available for a "reasonable" price below
or around 500e, anything else is way over the top or not available
mine is a club-3d as well. and clocks very good. benchstable at 823/1000 on watercooling :)

I definitly need better mobo... can't get over 8800 in 3Dmark05... all to set performance and clocks was 728/829... can't get more than 225 (CPU) with this mobo. I know everything else would clock much better.

Well this is unstable anything over 225 (ok, haven't tried every step from 225 to 230. But 230 is too high for this mobo). 240 can't get you even to windows. Give this a try eva and let us know how it goes. If that is the case I will lower mine as I don't plan on going over 792 anyways until I get better cooling/lower temps. I hope a slight drop in voltage will lower pcb/ambient temps some on the card.
BTW, I emailed Arctic Cooling last night about an aftermarket cooler for the X1800XT and they said they have one in design now and should be out in the next 2 months. It does cool better than stock apparently. I hope so! Cooler temps and quieter fan is #1 on my list. I would buy this new cooler asap. If I could even keep temps at 75c full load with much quieter fan I would be happy.
Strange... I never looked temps while playing but right after it's always been under 70c and I have stock cooler and it's overclocked little bit. Though I haven't try playing with this new bios.
