yes, it works here too with auto settings. But if you move nb/ht multiplier from auto to anything else it gives FF. Just like in 1.5b1...

LOL 1.53...
2000 HT solved... so far so good :P
AUTO = 10x
NB 2000
HT 2000
http://www.coolaler.com.tw/toppc/MS7550/75772.PNG
ok, i've just flashed 1.5b3 and the bug is still present
Toppc, i know auto gives me 10x, my problem is i'm still unable to use it on 12x.
i might be the only one with this problem but can anyone else boot higher than 215htt on the 1600 mem div????
yeah im using the msi in my main rig got my ram @ 1760 7-6-6-15-12
i had to do this using AOD and win-memtest tuning in windows and when i find that happy oc i then use the multistep oc boot option set to 1 boot low then oc in win automatically in windows works like a charm but a huge pita for tuning memory
im going to try 1.5b3 tonite
Thanks works for me...HT upto 2000, now working on memory and high NB
Where's 1.5B3? :D
Yup thats right, wont boot if i set anything to over the auto. So it is stuck at 2000 mhz, and can only move it with the fsb.
i got my board back from an rma, flashed the bios up so i could unlock and now i have 2 problems. 1) with every bios i tried the fans will not spin down on any header (it came back with 1.30) and 2) affter unlocking nothing reads the temps they are just at 0 and i know that i didnt jump the max since im on liquid and the rad isnt vary warm
it dose seam stable and the the cpu temp seams accurate for an ihs temp
1) I've never had a problem with the cpu fan header and a pwm fan. I don't know about the other headers since I've never used them.
2) With any unlocked x2's and x'3's the core temps go haywire and read 0C. Every board I've seen has this happen when you unlock.
Nope it does not. Evevrest will not give you individual core temps, only the cpu temp. And that you can get even with HW monitor. Anyway this board runs a lot warmer than my old biostar 790GXB, so wondering if the temp sensors are borked or what. I used to idle at 24-25 degs on the cpu, and 36NB. Now its more like 28-30 on cpu and 40 on NB. Are the sensors in differnet places on these boards??
the temp sensor for the MB i think is the NB and the aux is the pwm or its the other way around. i dont really care about the core temps but they were just zeroed and it seamed weird.
also with the gd70 u need active cooling on the NB i put the 40mm from the blackops on the NB (just screw it in the fins will lock it down) and it dropped the motherboard temp by 20c and the aux by 15c
Is that a 40X10 or a 40X25 mm fan??
This is correct?
http://img36.imageshack.us/img36/6417/everesth.jpg
Also my temps are pretty good in a case with decent airflow. I think nb/sb fan is unnecessary.
my MB temp was over 60c
Bios 1.5b3 I can change NB fine. I don't change HT Link because really no performance increase.
http://img19.imageshack.us/img19/4982/captureybz.png
it happens when unlocked.
when i flashed 1.5b3 initially i've had the nb multi @ 12x, and it worked flawlessly. Then after a couple of reboots the coldboot bug came, and since then I can't even touch the nb multi.
ok, to be absolutely sure about this i tried it once again...
1. set nb to 12x, ht to 10x, upped ht voltage to 1.25v -> POST
2. pressed ctrl-alt-del -> FF
3. powered down mobo, wait, power up -> FF
Toppc, pls give us some hope that new bios is coming!
I am waiting too, my nb is stuck at 2000 and that just sucks.
Hii Top...
some user reported hang at system if they change divider in 1.42b MSI 770 C45 series. I know it's bios issues incase my stick rock stable on 790FX with 1333Mhz 7-7-7-x 1.68v but in C45 even with 1.71v they hang if i run hyper-pi 4 thread max with 32m calculation or the system freeze itself after about 15 minutes standby. The problem will dissapear if i running my stick all auto divider and timing. Maybe i'll test later in normal acc mode.

FIX 2>4 / 3>4 CAN'T CHANG HT
Sweet thanks toppc. Unlocked my 550 in a second. Didn't have to adjust voltages or anything. Now I have a 3.1 quad ^_^
thanks! :d was saying a moment ago how BIOS updates seem to have slowed down :/
is it a must to change the ec firmware to special?
NB & HT =>11X

Thanks a lot my friend it works for me.....NB and HT at 2200 X11 right now. Will try some more and report back.
Great job Toppc!
Will there be new bios for 790GX-G65? Can't wait...Thanx!
Yeah It's Great ... Still wait for MSI C-45 :)
finally this bios works 100% as advertised. currently my system is prime stable @ X4 / 3300 / 2400
i've rebooted/powered off the system 10+ times - the annoying coldboot bug is no more. I think this is the perfect bios we've been all waiting for :bows:
thank you very much for your efforts Toppc!
Took it all the way to 2500 and it just works....wow...thanks.
I have come across a very good deal of 'MSI DKA790GX Platinum' and want to buy it, but I wanted to ask all the learned and experienced members her about the prospects of unlocking the cores of X2 550 BE, Please help me with details about the modded bios if possible.
I will be grateful to all. Thanks
I would like to know the same thing , i currently have a X4 920 running at 3.6 and I plan to move to AM3 but will do it slowly so was gonna sell the 920 to a friend and grab a X2 550 to play with now that I see the success of unlocking the 2 other cores with the correct stepping as well as luck. Is there a bios or what is correct bios so us with the DKA790GX Platinum can play as well?
MSI DKA790GX Platinum can unlock with the v1.8 BIOS and onwards :)
thanks for quick reply, is 1.8 a beta bios or direct from MSi, I have not followed bios much but now feel it is time to play around a bit and would not mind trying a X2 550 and see if I get lucky with a quad at 3.6 which will be same as my X2 920 basically
Second question is it work moving to the MSI AM3 board w 1333 or 1600 DDR3 over the DKA790GX Platinum I am now running w DDR2 1066 I am guessing that on eith platform I will hit a wall with a max overclock of the 550 at 3.9 just wondering how much faster it would be than the DDR2 platform running at 3.7 and would it be worth the little cost to move to. I would expect increased bandwidth but in day day usage would it be noticeable and would it be noticeable gaming w a pair of 3870's in Xfire at 1900x1200
I also want to Thank you for the reply, I wanted to ask whether the bios has to be flashed by the usb drive or can be flashed directly when in Windows. I am grateful for the responses.
Secondly is this bios the original from the MSI or is a modded one?
Thanks again.:)
Nope looks like its from MSI, anyway u have to flash using a USB stick in the bios or using afudos..in dos...I have found using the usb stick in bios to be really easy.
Looking forward to trying the 1.5b4 BIOS. Thanks, Toppc!
guys your thoughts
is it worth it at an extra cost after selling to go from my DDR2 based
dka79gx platinum
x4 920 at 3.6 (probably can do more have not bothered)
4gb Gskill PC8500
to a
790FX-GD70
AM3 X2 550 (hopes to unlock)
4gb 1600 DDR3
will the x2 550 perform as well at 3.6 vs the true quad overclocked to the same? second I guess there is the potential of no success unlocking depending on stepping I get for the 550 but being left with a dual core that will hopefully do 3.9
would it be smarter to leave what I have alone for a while and if anything drop a 955 into it later??
video card wise I will leave my crossfire 3870's in a bit longer before flogging them....
Personally, I wouldn't do it if what you're looking for is increased performance. The increase you might gain (if the 550 unlocks) isn't worth any money you might have to add to make up the difference. If you need more speed try overclocking the cpu a little more. With what you have, I'd wait until the 8-series chipset boards roll out and then decide whether the move to AM3 is worth it.

Keep up the good work MSI
Pardon me for not being up to date but which MSI AMD mobo can do both 550BE core unlocking and Prime95 Blend stable at the present moment? Seems all I see is the GD70.
TOPPC,
I am waiting BIOS for 790gx-g65 !!
Coldboot also!:(
Come on, Toppc, don't forget the 790GX-G65.... PLZ
Yes Please dont forget us ( owners of the DKA790GX Platinum )
I will be waiting
I have no idea Dopamin3, I have just bought a DKA790GX Platinum and am waiting for a stable bios before I make my purchasing decision of either buying the Phenom II X3 720 BE or the II X2 550 BE.
Will decide on the proccy when I will see the successful unlocking of the 550 BE. till now I have unconfirmed reports that the DKA790GX Platinum 1.8 bios does unlock the cores.
Lets hope Toppc gives us some good news.
1.8 no good for unlocking. Did a quick test on 1.9b2, no coldboot issue with changing NB speed (problem similar on early beta of GD70). I will be testing for stability today, but it seems like it should be good :D
http://img22.imageshack.us/img22/1833/capturesvr.png
Between the 2 boards how do you find the 790GX compares? I have found it to be a good overclocker, I have my 920 at 3.6 but I have a X2 550 on way and already some great Mushkin DDR3 1600 so I have been giving thought to getting that board and selling off the 920 and 790GX Platinum but possibly opting for a 955 over the X2 550, gotta make mind up this eve as the cpu ships tommorrow from a contact...........

It is the 1.8 bios, so I am wondering what went wrong with you.
Please tell me about the cold boot? what is it I am not getting it at all.
Any one used this one???
Confirmed my x3 720BE can't unlock. Tried on a friends gigabyte board which has proven to be able to unlock CPUs.
It's time for a quad soon :p:
anyone else tried the new bios yet? :D
why dose msi suck u are exploiting the hardware and are u even sure that u have an unlockable chip
Been Trying the new 1.42 bios for 770-C45 for a couple of days, and I can say that this new bios is more stable than the previous.
with bios 1.3B2, my PII 550 (which is unlock only with single RAM) currently running @3,6ghz on stock volt (bios 1.3B2 needs 1,375 to achieve 3,6ghz).
Cant wait for the official

>,< not working , still cold boot ....
anyone can give the bios setting for my rig so i can past 3.7ghz my mobo is msi 770-C45
My mobo is MSI 790GX-G65 Winki...Now, I have a question: Is there any diference between my mobo and regular 790GX-G65 except that little OS on flash module?
To be more precise, I'm interested if I can use this beta bios for 790GX-G65 on my mobo? I'm not using this Winki OS, so I don't need function in Bios for enabling Winki, I just wanna know will flashing this beta bios screw my mobo. Thanx a lot.
Your Hardware is in your sig?
maybe this'll help:
HT (base clock) 200mhz
Multiplier: x18.5
NB : x10/auto (2000mhz)
HT: x10/auto (2000mhz)
DRAM: 1333 8-8-8-24-32-1T both channels, unganged mode. If you got a godd IMC, maybe you can do 1600 7-7-7-20-24-1T@1.9v
Voltage (only these you must set):
CPU Vcore: 1.425-1.45v (around that voltage)
CPU-NB : 1.25-1.3v
DRAM: 1.84v
NB : 1.2v
HT: 1.2v
SB: 1.225v
Thanks WSP I'll try it soon,
Also sory if OOT is there any improvement if I upgrade my mobo to dfi dk 790fxb m3h5?
Nope I don't think so. No major improvement.

v1.6 bios from MSI for 790GX-G65
http://img707.imageshack.us/img707/6573/16bios.png
The chipest and the best MSI mobo for unlockig is msi 770-G45 with CoreUnlock option implemented in BIOS (no need any modded BIOS or else). Tried on 550BE and reached 300FSB so smooth and without any probs ;).
