Looking good, I really like the looks of the new AC block. I can't wait to see some test results.
Here is the wiring compliments of Shoggy.
I am the impatient type! I agree with you Shazza, Charles is selling PC Crack and we are all addicted!!Quote:

If it is anything like the Cuplex Di, this will be an addiction too! However, that blue top on the Cuplex is very sexy and I already miss it. Enjoy the Aquaero and the software.Quote:

BTW, Shoggy is a GOOD GUY and always ready to help.
A surprising concept how you solved the colour shape at the midplate logo... Very very funny and unexpected .
But I have one request: could you please post a front picture of the installed quad feser radiator to see the distance to the casesites, would be nice if you also wrote down the mm/cm....(if possible) :D
Kindly excuse this exceptional demand, but I am planing a complete new project at the moment... and I am :lsfight: with myself for some fixes.
I was just wondering, how did you manage to solve your little problem with the bubbeling paint? :)
Had a similar issue some years ago where the paint previously applied, reacted with the paint I applied to the material. Gave this strange bubbeling effect.
What type of chemical cleaning were you using?
Nice build btw. Everything looks amazingly sleek. :)
Thanks! Use this http://www.duplicolor.com/products/stripper.html
It works very fast.
And when the music stopped playing, the girls went home ... you can drink it with your buddies :D
My plans were going well, painting miscellaneous parts, drilling, re-riveting, re-painting and the like. I was on schedule to eat a late lunch and begin sleeving, then the doorbell rang, my dogs went ballistic and so did my wife. We have a standing rule around here, don't call or stop by on Sunday especially during football season. There went my sleeving and my Zen moment! I did manage to get a couple of things done.
I mounted the Hammond boxes (thanks Charles) for the Feser.
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v4...n/DSC01440.jpg
You have to countersink (thanks BA) these holes from the bottom to get a nice flush fit.
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v4...n/DSC01441.jpg
They screw in from the bottom and then apply HD double sided tape.
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v4...n/DSC01460.jpg
This process took longer than expected, now I know what you mean BA. You get the mounting idea from this...
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v4...n/DSC01452.jpg
I drilled the rivets in the midplate and repainted it again! What a PITA!!
I am happy that I did and I also placed the grommets..Thanks again Charles.

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v4...n/DSC01451.jpg
Finally put the pieces in place.

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v4...n/DSC01455.jpg
The next time I do this and it will be soon. I will send this stuff out for powdercoating. I enjoy painting but this was a challenge.
Excellent progress. You did quite well for a football Sunday, and unexpected interruptions as well!
Looks awesome Rocky!
My one suggestion would be to remove the lids from the Hammond boxes - they're not needed. Removing them will give you a bit more clearance between the top of the rad and the underside of the midplate for cable management.
You're in the home stretch now! :)
Let the sleeving begin! I had a couple of hours this afternoon so I decided it was time to begin my first sleeving attempt. Many thanks to Dangals for the outstanding tutorial on sleeving, a definite must read thread. Obviously, big kudos for Charles and Nils for the exceptional quality of the Psychopack
And thanks to the Academy...oops, sorry wrong speech.
Well I started and I must say this is totally addicting. Sleeving is the easy part pulling out the pesky plugs http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v4...n/DSC01467.jpg is the hard part. I will always sleeve from now on. The pictures do not do justice to the sleeving. I could have used a third and fourth hand for stretching it though but I am getting the hang of it.
I started with something easy.
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v4...n/DSC01462.jpg
The tip of an exacto knife works great for this.
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v4...n/DSC01464.jpg
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v4...n/DSC01465.jpg
Much better...
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v4...n/DSC01466.jpg
I did all wires individually but I decided to cover all of them with a larger piece of heat shrink for the industrial look.
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v4...n/DSC01472.jpg
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v4...n/DSC01468.jpg
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v4...n/DSC01471.jpg
It will look much better than this...
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v4...n/DSC01387.jpg
I only had time for one more so I did this for a challenge...
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v4...n/DSC01469.jpg
I used a cutting mat for ease of measurement, exacto knife, heat gun and an Olfa Rotary Cutter for the sleeving and the heat shrink. This is a great tool but it is extremely sharp. It will give you the finest cuts you can possibly get. It was designed to cut leather!
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v4...n/DSC01474.jpg
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v4...n/DSC01473.jpg
I found the heat gun at Hobby Lobby for $15.00 and it works great, my finger tips are burned!
Happy sleeving!
That heatgun will make history :D I love it so much, please ship a few to me!
Excellent sleeving. Looking forward to seeing how you master the 24-pin connector, cause I'm sure you'll come up with a creative solution.
Lookin' good man!
great. what is radiator
The rad is a TFC quad.
Some news for the waiting masses? If not, please post some pictures of the great "Heat Toll" in action...:D
O-K Rocky, put down the scotch and get back to work. :cord: :ROTF:
I am drinking jasmine tea, listening to classical music and madly sleeving.
I did find one way to help the fingers...
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v4...n/DSC01504.jpg
Just started this monster..
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v4...n/DSC01508.jpg
And I have very quiet company...
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v4...n/DSC00686.jpg
Progress shots tonight!
Just checking in to make sure you've got all your fingers still - and you made me truly laugh out loud when I saw the gloves. Isn't it fun ????!!!???
Beautiful company you're keeping there ... they are watching your every move, ready to come to the rescue.
Great progress shots Rocky. I always like to see how each person tackles every obstacle, and try to keep track of them all to incorporate the best in what I do. I really like the methods to your madness and look forward to more.
I don't know...I am really enjoying the building and the sleeving. This is really rewarding and I am already contemplating my next build. However, as Nils would say, it's an Area 51 type build...... Only the cat knows, hint.
Thanks Kirk. In my early days in the Wall St. world I was told an interesting tidbit; If you take from one person it is called stealing...if you take from many it is called research! This comment had to do with gathering information only.
Therefore, I have used your methods, Dangals, Charles, Nils, DingDong Shazza and many others, so I have done my research. Thanks everyone for posting your tips.
Without further adeiu, here is my progress today, albeit very little. Just remember I am a first time sleever and I am an old dog and this is a new trick!
The PCIE and the SATA power cable...now I know why most of you use a dual GPU single slot solution! This took forever.
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v4...n/DSC01510.jpg
Thanks Charles and Nils...I am addicted!
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v4...n/DSC01509.jpg

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v4...n/DSC01516.jpg
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v4...n/DSC01513.jpg
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v4...n/DSC01514.jpg
Although I cut my heat HS the same lengths, some are longer than others. Depending the placement of the HS next to the tip, sometimes it slips into the plug and sometimes it does not. It took me a while to figure this out. Once the tips of my fingers grow back I will re-do a couple.
Now it is time for.....
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v4...n/DSC01520.jpg
Sleeving wears you out, but like sex, the cigarette afterwards is outstanding!
John, I hope you don't mind if I hit the scotch now?
The pooches are worn out too!
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v4...n/DSC01521.jpg
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v4...n/DSC01522.jpg
Sorry for the long post!
great sleeving... and I agree that its very addictive and satisfying to sleeve wires. I need to learn how to sleeve SATA cables next
cool dogs!
Wow - great progress.
And, you have just made one of the best posts I've seen in ages - you have all the winners:
Excellent sleeving progress,
Scotch and smokes,
Xtreme Systems on a MacBook Pro,
and beautiful sleeping pups
Thanks and the SATA's are the easiest to sleeve.
Actually they are not dogs, they are my kids! They eat better then we do and I wish I could trade places with them....they have a great life.
Shazza,
Coming from you, I am speechless!
The sleeving was actually fun, although I will get better and more uniform. I do like my scotch and smokes. The smokes typically make me a social outcast but I don't care. I am only here for a good time not a long time!
The MBP is the cats meow and I am glad that you can appreciate it. The doogs are our kids. They are not our whole lives but they make our lives whole. I have no idea what we would do without them.
Rocky
I really found that sleeving was part of the most rewarding aspect of the pc building experience. I think you really have to find out yourself to really believe it. By the time you're done with the entire psu you'll feel like a pro and want to do another one (after your fingers feel better of course.)
Keep the updates flowing.
John, Thanks for giving me permission! It's actually not that hard, just very time consuming. I started the PCIE, SATA Power and the 24 Pin monster at 12:30 this afternoon and finished at 5:45. However, I only finished 25% of the 24 Pin. This would be really easy if you could take out all the wires and sleeve!
I learned for me that sleeving two different cables makes the most sense. Meaning that I sleeved the PCIE while sleeving the SATA cable. As Dangals and BA pointed out, YOU HAVE TO LET THE HS COOL! Believe it. I bonked a couple by being impatient.
Thanks Nils! I cannot take credit for that quote. I believe it came from Caesar?
Kirk,
Good point. I am studying PSU's and about to order another one. It makes sense to have a pre-sleeved PSU ready and waiting for the next build. Maybe I have had too much scotch:eek: I cannot believe what I am typing!
I have to go cook soon and typing with my feet is getting tiresome.;)
Rocky
lol ... I do agree with the comments about having to do the sleeving to appreciate it. It's actually pretty gratifying, if not a bit Psycho!
I actually ordered a spare PSU before I started sleeving :) It's now sitting in my husband's PC, cause I didn't screw up like I thought I would. BUT, am looking to doing another one to get it better.
Not to pollute your thread ... but you aren't the only one with a couple of kids/dogs:
http://shazza53.smugmug.com/photos/3...15_pjRru-S.jpg
Can't wait to see your system fully done. It's going to be a great one.
Didn't know you were into Jasmine tea; I'll bring you back some from China next time. ;)
Beautiful sleeving work, my friend.
I've been telling myself that I can just use the stuff I already have from PPCs on my murderMod, but every time I see another post with that murderMod sleeving, I tell myself to hold off on my sleeving just a little while longer until I can at least afford to purchase the Sociopack.
Fantastic update Rocky!
Nice job on the sleeving. :yepp:
The white gloves gave me a good chuckle!
I really liked seeing the pics of the woofers - all of them!
Perhaps a pet thread? :)
As a wise man once told me - press on!
Thanks Charles! I have a long way to go to get the uniform look of the HS I want but I am happy with my first attempt. Don't laugh at the gloves! They protected my worn down finger tips. Besides, I was catching too much sH*t from the sequins and the "periwinkle" mini heat-gun.!
The woofers will soon be a part of our new personal website.
Mini update for the day. I had a little time so I finished one more PCI cable. I am a sleeving fool!
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v4...n/DSC01524.jpg
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v4...n/DSC01526.jpg
What do you do with those leftover rivet "tails?" Use them for markers in case the phone rings and you have to take the call!
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v4...n/DSC01523.jpg
Notice any thing different?
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v4...n/DSC01529.jpg
Look closer...this is for Nils:rofl: If it is a wire...sleeve it!
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v4...n/DSC01528.jpg
Sorry I couldn't resist.
BTW I ordered my second Psychopack today. The addiction is getting much worse. I am trying to decide which PSU to order, or which PSU is worthy!
John and Shazza, I am drinking scotch and smoking now.:D
Charles and Nils, You need to make a double pack of sleeving and call it the Hannibal Collection!
Ha ... that's a good one on your little sleeving bit there. You do have the fever!
I think I'm more anxious for you to get this done than you are. Looking forward to your reports on performance with the Quad Rad and your hardware.
Also interested to see what your next PSU choice will be.
Thanks Shazza!
It needed to be covered up!
I was hoping to get it finished by next weekend but that probably will not happen. Too much sleeving and little details to be sorted out.
In the case of the PSU, it gets harder. The Zeus is good. I had an Ultra X3 in my last system and it was not as good as the Zeus. My three systems before these two were all powered by PC P&C. I purchased one of the first 1kw SLI PSU's they offered. It is still running effortlessly today in my server, albeit a bit loud. There are very few choices if you want modular and a single 12 v rail. Actually, there are none that I know of. The Zeus gives you the ability to switch but I would prefer a single. I ramble too much...back to the scotch!
I'm with you brother, those are my intentions as well. I don't want ANY wires showing, but if they must show, they MUST be blacked out!
Great job on that small detail.
So you're looking for a solid, silent, modular, single 12V rail PSU with 1kW+?
Have you looked at the Silverstone Decathlon DA1000? (Here it is at Newegg for $239 after MIR) It seems to meet your criteria, and those Decathlons are great PSU's, from my experience. You seem to have had some positive experience with Silverstone in the past, and I think this one will truly be worthy of a great sleeving job like you've shown in this thread.
Whatever you decide, good luck!
Lol. I love that quote, it's absolutely classic. I do agree though that they should make sets for "The Enthusiast's Enthusiast" such as yourself.
Very cool build, I shouldn't be looking as it costs me money when I get idea's put in my head.
Thanks for your gift. :)
Here we go with your new kit. And as a little extra - you get a murderMod for free
http://www.abload.de/img/rockcwbu.jpg
One murderMod will not be enough to deplete all this stuff of sleeve dualbrain.... its for a "little" server room .
BTW: is it possible that I know THAT case.....?
No TamTam - it is the younger sister of yours :) This one is in Berlin and belongs to a murderModder who is not even hanging out in forums: Yes that is possible too :D
Wow Nils, what a beautifully captured moment! I want to swim in that stuff. :p I couldn't see the pic earlier because I was at work and it was blocked, but that's awesome.
By the way, I'm starting to get sig envy. When are you gonna finish up my drawing like the rest of the guys have? Did you get my pictures from Charles?
Lovin this build, Seeker. Keep the updates coming!
LMAO. I requested Vodka with mine, but apparently they don't have that in Canada.
Maybe Nils can see about scoring me some Lex Vodka that I had during my brief deployment in the Ukraine. That stuff was the smoothest I've ever had!
It's probably a long-shot, but he's closer to it than I am!
I just hope he's not in there while he's making it.
nice job on the computer - looks fantastic :)
Love the dogs! - i too have my kids (an ACD & a Shiba Inu) by my side during all night computer sessions (they seem to gravitate toward the sleeving - charles - could that be your cat they smell?) lol
I did send Charles three sigs for you - but maybe you did not like any of them. If that is the case I will of course do more ... until you like one :D
Dogs and sleeve? Yes its true: originally our sleeving is made out of cat hair here in Germany.
@seeker: Yes it ships in the wooden box^^
@seeker: Yes it ships in the wooden box^^
Nils,
That looks like a big wooden box!
I looks like some kind of sauna or something...
A little update and a problem or two. I checked the fit of the EK H20 blocks with the backplates because I was concerned about the spacing between the two 280's and the soundcard. The spacing worked due to the BP SLI fitting but the backplate causes problems with the soundcard.
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v4...n/DSC01531.jpg
I really need to get one acrylic top for the aquarium look.
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v4...n/DSC01532.jpg
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v4...n/DSC01533.jpg
This an outstanding fitting! Thanks BP. You can also see the soundcard problem.
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v4...n/DSC01535.jpg
Mood lighting.
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v4...n/DSC01537.jpg
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v4...n/DSC01538.jpg
Due to the single slot spacing I will have other issues as well. This is my first attempt using large tubing and I need to know how tight of a bend I can get without kinking the tubing?
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v4...n/DSC01536.jpg
As you can see from the last pic I will need a serious bend or change my flow, which I do not want to do. I was planning on pump-cpu-gpu-gpu-res-rad-pump.
I am open to suggestions and any advice!
BTW, the barb fittings you see on the EK blocks are the BP silver and they are silver inside and out. They are gorgeous to say the least...no microbials here.
Nice ... is that the BP D-plug fitting connecting the cards?
What's the problem with the spacing? I couldn't quite tell from the pics.
BTW, I think thick-walled tygon would definitely make the bend, but masterkleer might as well. It doesn't seem that bad to me. You could always put a bp 45 on one end or the other to make it even less 'kinky'.
You're not putting the nb/sb/mos under water???
Shazza,
You know me, its scotch, smokes and cooking time! Here is the fitting http://www.sidewindercomputers.com/bishg14sidse.html and it is beautiful and it can work with a single or a dual slot configuration due to the dual O-Rings. This fitting is hard to describe, however someone at BP has their stuff together! Now, help me with the tubing problems! Everyone knows that you are the tubing King, Queen and all other Royalty when it comes to tubing....period, end of story!
seeker.
Good deal ... I've gotta couple of those fittings in my stash.
Re the loop; my first thought was "turn the res upside down" (okay, that should give you some insight as to why I'm always excited when I get something to actually work).
If you're talking about the going from the CPU block to the bottom GPU block, then I don't see how you do it without some 45s or dual45s (for that semi-90 degree bend flexibility).
Can you exit the CPU, route the tubing to the top GPU inlet, come out the bottom GPU, into the res? This would make a pretty good flow, if you swap the SLI connector plug to the other side. Might still require a 45 from the CPU.
I don't think there would be an issue with flow traveling down the GPUs instead of up ... not like gravity is going to rush all the water out of the top (but then, I'm no physicist). My inclination would be to push the water flow up the GPUs, but I'm not sure it will make much difference to temps.
If any of this makes sense to you, you haven't had enough scotch :rofl:
Thank you Shazza.
I may be able to exit the CPU to the top GPU, but I am unsure how severe the tubing bend will be. I will have to play with it a bit and find out.
I have the 45's required but I was trying not to use them. It would be easier to exit the CPU and flow the water up the GPU's.
I will check it out today and see just how tight of a bend I can make.
I thinks it is going to work. The bend is less than I thought it would be but I am not sure if I like the blue after all.
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v4...n/DSC01544.jpg
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v4...n/DSC01542.jpg
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v4...n/DSC01543.jpg
The tubing run to the Res is temporary. The other ones will probably stay as they are, besides this tubing is next to impossible to remove.
it looks really nice!
if you don;t like the blue anymore...you could always cover it up & sleeve the tubes - & you know the m|m psychopack sleeving looks "oh so" pretty
you should flip your di so that your tubes aren't tied...er....crossed.
Thank you. I discussed sleeving the tubing with Charles a while back and after what he told me...no way.
I will, I screwed up when I mounted it. I am not used to inverted setup so I wasn't paying attention when I mounted it the first time!
BA, if you are out there...LMK what you think! After all you and Charles are responsible for my madness!
Love the blue tubing! Great job so far, will definitely keep an eye out on this build!
I;ve been a silent observer for 8 pages...excellent build you've got going here seeker!
Just a thought on the tubing from the top GPU to the res...
If you could get a hold of another EK res bottom and use it for the top, your tube run could go horizontal back to the res. This would also allow for a fitting to be attached to the other perpendicular port and be used as a fill...or the one on the top (usually bottom) of the cap (or is it still called a base). That make sense?
+1 I agree...
I did the same thing !!
http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/...49#post3616149
great build BTW !!!!
Many thanks, the blue is growing on me.
Damn Skinnee, that is an outstanding idea! It means I will have to buy another Res but it fits in well with the Madness theme! Thanks for the kudos and keep the ideas coming, I need all the help I can get!
Yours truly,
Frederick Southgate Taylor
Room 47 Westrange:rofl: inside joke
Maybe I'm not as blonde as I thought when I said turn the res upside down :p: Although, I have to admit I never would have thought of putting another res bottom up there. Good idea skinnee.Quote:
If you could get a hold of another EK res bottom and use it for the top, your tube run could go horizontal back to the res.
I like the blue.
I second, third or fourth the idea to use an Ek Res bottom as a top.
J.almonte really pulled it off well in his build, it looks really clean. The D-plug between the video cards looks great too, I just hope it doesn't leak.
The blue looks pretty good but I think if you used clear tubing with blue fluid it would look better. With using clear tubing the barbs would be visible through the tubing and be a bit more pronounced. The blue isn't opaque enough to stop a little bleed through of the coloring of the barbs. Blue tubing is hard to pull off, most of the time it just doesn't quite look right.
Making SLI look good with an inverted atx case is a bit more tricky too. It's hard to find a lot of good options for the return. If you do a 45 off the gpu to the top of the reservoir I think that would look pretty nice. It would still maintain a slight bend which I think would look good.
I also turned my cpu block 90 degrees from where you have now because I liked the way it looked, and it made my tube routing easier. From what I've seen so far is that these i7's don't care about every last degree. As long as you're able to remove the heat and keep it reasonable it'll run quite well.
The acrylic tops for the gpu's also give a bit more character to the build too. They reflect and bend light and kind of make your case look a bit more interesting. The delrin tops are nice and sturdy, but they don't do a lot aesthetically for me.
That's my 2 cents for the night, take it for what it's worth. I'm really enjoying this thread though, lots of entertainment and enthusiasm from fellow addicts. :) Keep up the good work Rocky.
BA, Thanks for chiming in! Your input is highly valued especially since I basically copied everything you did. JA's rig is outstanding and the second Res bottom cures most of my woes. Many thanks JA!
 The BP plug shouldn't leak, it has two O-rings to enable a little wiggle room between the VC's. It is (hopefully) one of the best engineered pieces I have ever held in my hands.
I am desperately trying to find at least one acrylic top for the top VC card.
I did try a BP 45 from the VC but I didn't like the look. The blue tubing is growing on me, but to your point, clear tubing would look much better. Especially when you take into account the real silver fittings.
Unfortunately, as you know first hand, removing the tubing will require cutting. Once you get it on, it is not coming off. Enough rambling for the evening.....back to the scotch! I hope John isn't watching.
:rofl::rofl::rofl:
I don't think I deserve any credit. Just proof that my first thought was "hmmm, how do you make it look good?" But no clue on how to actually do it.
You know us girls, we can't visualize spatial objects very well (not to mention some of us are mechanically challenged).
Anyhoo ... I think it's looking very good. Dealing with the inverted setup is a challenge. And, here's another blonde question -- what's the advantage of going with the inverted mb in the TJ07. The only one I can think of is you have the window on the other side. (I'm sure there is a better reason than this )
Shazza,
First point....drink more scotch!
The main reason I elected the inverted setup is the H20 VC's. It's nice to see the coolers on top and it also helps with the wiring. The bad thing is that I have to turn everything around in my office! Thank you for the kind words.
Welcome to the Chivas life !!
