Is my one that I ordered enough for a cpu, nb and gpu loop?
One per loop is perfect!
Just checked petra's.. Still out of stock
Even if I had shipped them as I was typing the last post in this thread they still wouldn't be there, takes a couple days ;)
You're waiting, I'm waiting, we're all waiting. :p:
I called over to the powdercoater again today and had to leave a message, if I don't hear back by this afternoon I will go ahead and drop off the coils.
those cant be iandh's...
His are flattened out so you get more surface area and less resistance...
http://i125.photobucket.com/albums/p...a/IMG_0080.jpg
unless iandh you change the design?
What a brilliant observation! No actually they aren't iandh's at all. Can't fool you now can I?
Actually Flattened out has no bearing on surface area as far as contact goes & less resistance depends on where in your system you have them.
Here I thought you were smarter than that! I was wrong I guess eh?

could i add these in feser one coolants?
I thought spheroidal shapes have the largest SA:V ratio?
blah... i was thinking this too, until i accounted for part of the tubing would en essesnce wrap the sphere.
If were dropping that unit in a res, then yes, its a great improvement over flat..
But if were putting it inside a tube, the tube will compress around the spring, and cover up part of the silver...
Having it thinned out and flat would compensate....
Im not sure if im making any sense here...
Do these have to go in the flow path or can they be placed in the filling line of a t-line?
If I have one 250 mL reservoir (EK 250) supplying 3 blocks, just putting this one little piece of silver will prevent microbial growth? And I can just drop it in the reservoir without worrying about it going through the tubing? And even if I have like 10 feet of tubing, I only need 1 of these $9 pieces, thus allowing me to use clear tubing instead of solid tubing (block light, prevent growth)? Sorry for questions, this seems so convenient...
running 2 loops 1 killcoil+distilled in each loop going on 3 weeks and no growth so far.
I decided I would need the silver in time for my coming rebuild so I went looking. I was looking for silver wire. I go to ebay and find plenty o silver. A very shiny (Bitspower shiny!) perfectly molded (like a little bar of soap) chunk, stamped for authenticity and weight caught my eye. A whole Troy oz. of .999 silver could be mine for $9.29! Wow, $9.29! If I can only snipe this baby 2 secs. before bidding ends. I'd just confirmed my bid when it struck me, "maybe $9.29 for 1 Troy oz. of .999 silver isn't going to land me on the cover of Fortune magazine as "the Guru of silver trading"". That's what I get for my total ignorance of the silver market. I didn't overpay but, I just thought silver was worth a little more than it is. I think I caught "gold fever". Thankfully it was only for silver ($10 worth).
Anyway, I had actually wanted silver "wire" because I do not have anywhere to place a hunk of silver in my loop. Here, I give you, the point of my story- I found some good silver wire. Google "Atlasnova", they have 10 and 12 gauge .9999 wire. I only suggest this if you need it now. Otherwise, I would hang on for Petra's to re-up (support supportive businesses), it's much prettier all flat like that. I may hammer mine flat I don't know. I'm really not sure where I'm going to put it. My mcres only has a hole as big as the hole my flow will ultimately exit through. I'm not sure how to bend my wire so it won't block outward flow and still fit into the res through the same size hole. I like the placement in the tubing but, I have spent too much time in XS to not consider the sin of elective added restriction. Oh well, Einstein wouldn't have given up, I shall solve this problem... and maybe others too.
Your restriction will be minimal at best if you place the wire coil in the return line just before the pump or in your dump to the res it won't even matter that it's there. Since when did you see restriction when a res is concerned? Long as there is flow over the silver your set to go.
Can't see a problem with that.
great thanks...now we really play the waiting game...argh...
anti-corrosion fluid works by layering itself evenly over all the metal in the loop and preventing water from contacting the metal. What do you think that implies for the purpose of the silver? And for the temps, for that matter. :yepp:
You do not need any anti corrosion fluid unless you have aluminum in your loop. Without aluminum, the corrosion will be so minuscule that it would be decades before any visible changes to the metal will show up.
well im using the swiftech apogee gtz...i think that has an aluminum body...im new to WCing so I have no idea what i'm doing...so no go for the anti-corrosion?
'
Find out if it's the copper or Aluminum top first.
Awesome, thanks...hopefully Petra's gets some in a few weeks...I hate waiting for things, its so inconvenient...

sounds pretty good
still nothing :(
Any updates?

copper GTX is copper like so:
You'll get mix'd reviews about the alu.
if you ask me personally i didnt get corrosion, but a close friend of mine did, so i dropped the alu top entirely..

Any update? They still haven't arrived at petra
???
Still nothing at Petra's :(
IandH should team with TribalOverkill to make spinner resevoirs with silver spinners . . .

so is the price :ROTF:
You can go to your local coin shop and buy a 99.99% pure bar of silver for like 20-30 bucks...
What makes this any better?
ok i have read six pages and i still dont understand what this think do ?
I'm surprised you have not even visited the site.Quote:

an what is the propose of placing it on a tank or on a tube ?
so when the hell will they be in stock again?
thank you mr aspire.comptech
i was dieing to know what this thing do
so if i drop anything that is pure silver in the tank i will get rid of biologicals ?
nice :p:
maxspam, What it does is its significantly cheaper than that 20$ hunk of silver ALSO its better physically designed so it maximizes its surface area w/ the coolant so the most silver is able to be mixed with water thereby increasing its biocidic properties
These would actually be very useful for water cooling towers (ie. bongs) as they may help combat Legionellosis:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Legionellosis
I was debating buying a UV lamp for fish tanks, but this seems to be a better value (ie. no risk of blinding from the light, bling factor, size, easier to implement, etc.)
Do these coils prevent growth in the loop, or do they also kill any current growth as well? I just redid my loop a few months ago and I'm only running 3% G11/D-water.
FYI I sent Petra's a big bag of them this time so hopefully they should stay in stock over a week.
Yes I suck. :slapass:
Oh chit. Good thing I already ordered more silver. Guess I've got to hang up my nifty new 3D vision kit that came in today.
Today was the first time my girlfriend has ever walked in on me gaming and openly burst into laughter. Yes, 6'4" dude in a small office chair straddled by a piece of plywood with keyboard and mouse, sitting in front of a 65" HDTV with geeky shades, headphones, and a boom mic. Lovely.
Better get a lock on that door!
My wife just shuts the door to my office when
I play, she doesn't like to hear me yelling,"Shoot,Shoot,Shoot, over there...."
I have my headphones on so I can't tell if
I'm yelling, oh well!
I picked up two of those kill coils for my new rig.
They look like they'll do the trick and it was easier than
making them myself. Thanks!
Next order... 100,000 Kill coils! :ROTF:
I've got the new Nvidia 3D vision ones that just came out. I already happened to own a Mitsubishi 65" 120Hz DLP w/3d input which is one of the few displays on the compatible list.
So far it works very well, although a few major (minor?) gripes...
1) The lenses are darkly tinted so it works very well on dark games such as L4D and Bioshock, but in bright games like Crysis you really have to crank your display to get a correctly lit image back.
2) The 3D effect is much more effective in close quarters "in your face" type games, so once again L4D and Bioshock win here. It is still really cool in Fallout 3 and Crysis but the 3D isn't nearly as apparent in wide open spaces.
3) These are the least eye-bleeding of all of the 3D shades I've tried but they do still cause some eye fatigue, so they are definitely not for everyone, and I would say that the max comfort time for gaming would be between 1-3hrs depending on the person. 2hrs is pretty much pushing it for me... in all fairness though, it has a lot to do with sitting the correct distance from your display and not going nuts on the "3D depth" adjustment knob. ;)
I look damned funny all decked out too so maybe I'll have the GF snap a pic, I just have to make sure she doesn't end up posting it as a myspace bulletin or some :banana::banana::banana:.
And they are gone. :( In the time it took me to get home from work, read this, and enter my order info Petra's ran out again.
Luckily I was able to get a few of them while they were available. :)
Been waiting MONTHS for some.
Also bought a XSPC Reservoir Top, (UN)Designs Z Bracket, and some black fan screws to enlighten my new H²O build.
Yeah, and you would be one of them for spreading internet myths without doing a simple search.
http://www.caoc.com/CA/index.cfm?eve...wPage&pg=facts
thank god i picked myself up 3 of em just in time then :D
LMAO out of stock again :D I also grabbed 3 of them.
What's the longest you people had these in your loop? I suspect silver might get oxidized and not function that well after a while (depending on tubing, some tubing is more porous and lets air in, like masterkleer)
Just bumping this thread for those who missed out on the earlier batch(s).
does this coil suck up the build on ur loop like algae the white stuff?
the water reacts with the silver and in turn prevents stuff from growing in your loop. it may not directly attack stuff already propagating, but it will inadvertantly kill things i think.
like the description says its a naturally occurring biocide, but it probably doesnt help with the white plasticizer buildup.
but what if u feser f1 fluid will it work with that or pt nuke
i would buy some then in the future
I just ordered mine. No more PT nuke. The silver coils are the way to go.
Is there a product out there that impedes the growth of that white plasticizer buildup?
yeah. Plasticizer free tubing such as the new feser/primochill lrt of tygon b-44-x
What is Plasticizer free??? is that were the tubes plastic gets naturally foggy over time??
I'm in the middle of putting my first loop together right now. and basically this time around I was able to get one of these Silver Kill Coils, would someone be so kind as to tell me where I should put it in my loop. Or does it matter. I was thinking I'd just drop it inside my Micro Res v2.. would that work?
thats the best place ...i put one in mine too, if the flow is good..liquid circulating will flow thru it...
is it works with 3/8 id tubing ?
Is there something wrong with PT nuke? I admit I haven't been keeping up with the forums since I built my last loop, but I have had PT nuke + water running without changing the fluid for over two years now. The tubing (Masterkleer 7/16") is a bit cloudy, but the liquid is fine.Quote:

Also something that may be interesting... only the circulating part of the loop is cloudy, not the fillport tube (at least 1 ft of water, which I keep topped up).

really, well I have some Distilled Water, some Pentosin Blue G11, PT-Nuke, and also this Silver Kill Coil. I was planning on running just a little of the G11 with 2 drops of nuke, and the kill coil.. does that sound like ti would do the job?
For a very long time, industry use silver on refrigerators, deep freezers, wash machines, swimming pools, hospitals and as a burn curing medicine (inflammation)
-Silver is an effective bactericide for swimming pool water treatment.
-Silver disinfection is easier and safer than other purifying agents.
-Silver does not produce changes in pH thus eliminating the need to add pH adjustment chemicals.
-Silver at prescribed dosages is non toxic to humans.
Silver acts as a catalyst for oxygen of the air that's dissolved in water. The catalytic action of silver oxidizes the enzymes of bacteria and that kills the bacteria.
Additional confirmation of silver's effectiveness has come from the George Washington University Medical School Microbiology Department which tested the bactericidal effect of hypochlorite alone, compared to hypochlorite in water that also contains 40 parts per billion of silver. When 8,000 E. coli cells were introduced into chlorinated water, the bacteria kill was incomplete after 85 seconds; in water containing the same amount of chlorine plus 40 ppb of silver, the kill was complete in 15 seconds.
(internet)
Overkill.
Besides Pentosin G-11 being an anti-corrosive liquid and anti-freeze I don't know how well it does on Microbes. If you are not running mixed metals (aluminum in the build with copper more or less) then you don't need it.
PT-Nuke and the Silver KillCoils do the same thing. They stop crap from growing in your loop.
The KillCoil should be all you need (unless you're running mixed metals then you need the anti-corrosive also).
Nothing wrong with PT-Nuke, just an alternative.
It should. It can just sit inside the tubing or a reservoir. Being small enough to go into 3/8 and 1/2 is not big enough to make is suck into the fittings or anything.
Ya, I was wondering about that. I didn't add the G11, but I went ahead and added the Silver Kill Coil, and it's sitting on the bottom of my Micro Res bouncing around, it does not fit into the bottom Barb. so it wont go into my loop, But will it in the future, I wont want a chunk flying down and ruining my pump. Would it ruin it?
For now it doesn't fit through the out barb on the Micro Res v2, but it might later after it's there a while.
As long as it does it's job, and doesn't get sucked down and ruins my pump.
no one? Im ok with it sitting in res like that. the silver wont break and fly down into my pump?
Thanks for the response there Petra. And Thanks to you I now have my Water Loop up and Running. all but my Feser was bought at Petra's. well, and the EK 150 as ur sold out.
Oh and Thanks for including a Pen on my last purchase. (I asked for it) I use it Daily at my desk
I appreciate it. I'll ask Iandh
sorry i didn't reply in a while, you can get it at pts http://www.petrastechshop.com/1id3odfeflpv.html (feser stuff, with colour, or go to ppc's and get the primochill lrt clear stuff)
