I loved this so easy even a PhaseNewB can do it.
Thanks for the heads up OP!
Very nice  If you dont have grease in socket dont let evap on for too long (as in weeks).
I guess you only need to use into socket and under cpu...
Around socket you have eraser way :) and neoprene insulation too :)
So you don`t need the grease around....
By the way... i`m planing to use phase only for benchs no more than 5 hours per session, and ìm thinking to use eraser way and a layer of armaflex above eraser.... Of course i`ll use grease into socket and contact face of cpu..... I have a very hot benching room... what do you think. must i take other cautions?
When I insulate the socket for dry ice benching. Should I a) cut out some neoprene and put it in the open space of the socket or b) not worry about it - simply mask over the metal socket and lay on the eraser onto it
Thanks,
s e r e n i t y
Both should do. Sometimes i use some neoprene in socket to fill "open" spaces so there's less air but its not necessary at all.
Ok sweet. Thanks for you help loc.o :)
@serenity
I even filled the little gaps of the socket and "cpu-holddown" with eraser. (I hope you understand what I mean.)
It came off really easy. But you also can stuff some neopren/armaflex in those gaps.
Hey Guys,
After my first couple of runs with a Phase Change and the rubber insulation I have some questions:
- I left the Phase Change Unit on for 16hrs and this morning I decided to check the mounts I noticed that the lapped surface was touching not only the cpu but the eraser surrounding it as well - is this ok?
- I also noticed a drop of water coming down the neoprene material surrounding the cpu socket - is this a sign of a bad insulation?
Thanks!
EDIT:
A pic may help, this re mark represents where the water was after I shut the unit down and disassembled the unit after a 16hrs run:
http://i33.tinypic.com/2emiq6c.jpg
Is there a regular waiting period before you can really unscrew the phase change from the socket?
what chip is that on!?!? how big is the evap for the ocz!?!?
Jor3lNR I like the mosfet block on that board good choice in fittings mosfet blocks are the shiz in my opinion
Just tested this weekend, blutack works perfectly!
No condension water and comes off easily :)
I'll post pics later, little harder to apply on mobo.
But it's worth it, cheap and comes off easily :)
heres mine before solid shows you his ( lol that sounded dirty ) :D

Nice Solar mate  did your run go ok ?
it worked great for me dinos. you will just have to put something to on top of the bluetac insulation layer to absorb the condensation, for me it sweated alot the first time i tested that method.
yep perfectly :D that stuff is little bit tougher to get off than the kneeted rubber but still very officiant in keeping the nasty condensation away from your precious board with some help of dishcloth or something similar to keep the bluetac from sweating witch it does to some extend (at least with me )
i am specifically asking about "sweating" issues and whether kneaded eraser is any different to bluetac in that respect
I have one question
At what place can I get neoprene?
myself gonna do it just like the cpu area and hope for the best:D
just hope got enough eraser stuff
Some more pics :D

good luck with your bench
i plan to do the same soon
Thanks mate im looking forward to your results already. Now all i need is time to do the actual benching :D
do you have anything between kneaded eraser and that black insulation???
like a layer of paper or anything?
Between the insulation for F1 and the eraser i always put thin layer of neoprene so the eraser doenst stick to the tube's insulation.
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v2...P/IMG_5238.jpg
i am asking if you put anything between neoprene and eraser
Me bad. Nothing between it.
bluetac sweats like a pig and solarfall was saying he uses a layer of something
i just asked to see what you guys do
i will do the same and see what happens
thing is i use fans all over the place here too
eraser is MUCH better than bluetac
just used it tonight
@loc.o
If you had a NB pot handy you might want to slap that on there. at least with my quad on air nb volts really helped and that bugger got hot-- the reason why i bought a pot for her.
I use eraser and thats it, no insulation anywhere else except around the pots, I dont even tape up the socket and caps, I just lather that eraser right in that :banana::banana::banana:, I love it.
I do like that stuff, so easy to pull it off and yeah no sweating but i use a fan after a day-long test...

here´s my P5Q-E inslulated board with eraser, ready for "friday night" action with DICE with Josifek
hope the deliverer shall have no problems with delivering the DICE at right time to us
Grate insulation method
tried it on my first DI session and everything vent just grate
simple and effective
Here's my insulated P5Q-E. Using Tekastrip rubber. You can find it in every (house)painter shop and it's cheap and very good. I was using one layer of neoprene on rubber while benching ;)
http://pce.hostili.com/images/P142348cl37.jpg http://pce.hostili.com/images/P142347j7hm.jpg
How to cut.. neoprene to put benhind solid capacitors and voltage regulator...?
How well will this stuff work on a Phase change unit running 24/7?
By the way.... plastiline could be electric conductive? mmm i don't think so.... here it's hard to find eraser... soft, easy to modelate :p.... elastic.... so.. i'm thinkin in plastiline....
The same thing as Faber Castell rubber. It's reusable of course and easy to remove. If you have a lot of condensation it'll keep it on the top without problems and it'll not become wet.
I think that SXT use same insulation, Slovenians too (because Tekastrip is Slovenian firm).
I payed 3m (20x2mm) only 3$ and have material for insulate whole board two times (2x duble layer insulation).
Soon, I'll make some DICE session and post new pics of insulation (this time, one DFI board :D)
I've been trying the plastiline.... but i don't know really if it will possible.

This is the plastiline
http://img411.imageshack.us/img411/4...n013ui5.th.jpg
I need to add armaflex both side of socket... into retencion system of cpu... yet...
Then complete...
What do you think? could be possible? of course i don't want to kill the mother board.. thinking i will use it for benchs...
just found this for the UK DICE/LN2 benchers on ebay. 10 of those will be enough and wil set you back £13.50
used this for benching R2E + 965. Just eraser, neoprene, and shop rags baby. Back to air in like, 5 minutes it was great. I'll post pr0n next time; it was so fast i didn't stop to take pics.
Can i use the Eraser 24/7 on my AC chiller setup tht im buiding? Also i want to leave my mobo in the case not on a bench. How do you think that will work out?
It should be np at all. I use it for 24/7 stuff now.
Put a layer of shop towel over the eraser, then foam. Works great :)
Motherboard is prepped front side.
http://img116.imageshack.us/img116/2416/img08332jq6.jpg
Back side has a metal plate there, so it was packed to keep any air out.
http://img520.imageshack.us/img520/4746/img08262io5.jpg
Front side finished up.

Seems to be showing fine for me ?
It's fine ;)
@ceemic
Nice insulation  Give us some action now :)
Bullet92, crap P4 631: http://ceemic.pri.ee/c2d/631@6460.JPG :D
Blah... want to see 7GHz club. That's really crappy chip :D
Bullet92, yes I know. Next week I'll get a "golden" 631, which should do 7,2+GHz ;)
Very good method for insulation
We tested it first time in Georgia on my mobo and rubber did well, but hand-made DI pot suX, only 5753Mhz on Celeron D347.

wow OverDozeD thats a huge pot your using there :D
btw are you using ac5 ?? if you are i would recommend that you use ceramique its wayy better when playing with subzero temps ;)
Yes we're using AC5 there. I know about ceramique but that was what we had got there at the moment
Actually it was just training for future events, coz we have very poor experience of subzero OC-ing
I use the eraser for all my insulating needs.. GPU's..and mobo. Never used anything that works as good, and has such fast clean-up.

Really nice guide. :)
I made my own guide about this type of insulation on a Swedish OC forum. Even though the text is Swedish there are som nice pictures there, http://sweclockers.com/forum/showthr...readid=833961/.
Just look away when you see the crappy hole in the armaflex. ;)
What do you use to cleaning eraser, when remains are still between legs of IC's or smd parts? I tried acetone, but it doesn't work
bartx, what kind of eraser do You use? I suggest Faber-Castell - it comes off very easy from everywhere.
Just like with the old sealstring i use a bit of eraser to get the small parts of. It might depend on the brand, the one i use stays stickie forever it seems.
anyone knows where to get those faber castell one and willing to ship international ?
already search in my town, too bad its not available in my country....
Loc.o helped me with this so im using it:)
Tryed for det first time today:D
And Loc.o , it wasnt the same as the stuff you guys used but was easy to work with and worked like he..:D
So thanks for all help;)
Checked for kondens and looks clean like a babybut;)

Smartidiot89, You can find Dima's tables here: http://www.dimastech.it/scripts/sp.php?Id=135&lang=EN
By that carpet You mean something like that: http://www.upload.ee/image/118346/4415388.jpg ? It should work, but I don't know how the material is built. It has to be air-tight (closed-cell strucure) to use it on isolation.
Thanks :)
i am insultating my motherboard for the first time :D and this helpt alot :D
I'm gunna begin my first benching session under DICE this weekend. On Thursday I'm going to go pick up my materials for the motherboard insulation. I know where to get everything but the neoprene you guys used for the socket and ontop of the kneaded eraser.

shot of my MIIF prepped for pot.. just a little bit of vaseline on the bottom of the pot insulation, makes it air tight to the shop towel. This setup has been working great for me..still revising my NB insulation though :o
