The transpiper installs fine and easy, but in my case it didn't make much difference. The thing that made a difference for me was removing whole heatpipe assembly, replacing TIM and then replacing heatpipes and sinks. Out of the bos, the sink bolts were loose and needed to be tightened.
Putting Ram sinks on the CPLs dropped my pwm temps too. Of course airflow through there is the most important thing.
Then again this new transpiper is maybe much better.

I tried every combo, with the copper plate, without copper plate, fan on transpiper and not etc..
I ended up not using the transpiper at all and temps for chipset and pwm are fine - always below 40c even under prime load for hours at 4.3ghz.
I still think it's worth trying all the configurations though - it's fun. I think PcCI2iminal had some good results with the copper plate.

Great feedback thanks. I am currently using 2 small fans one inside the case blowing on top of pwm and the other outside the case taking hot air out of the pwm, they ar fine and temps are much better I was just wondering if that bulky transpiper would do me any good. Hope you don't be frustrated like I was with Enzotech, I mis read the specifications that said they where compatible with 1/2 and 3/8 systems but they came only with 1/2 fittings so I had to return the Enzo and trade it for the DD MPC Universal as Sidenwinder can't open the retail box to throw in 3/8 fittings ;-(Quote:

@ Jor3lBR I did specify 3/8" barbs, so I should be good there, I think it was 3 bucks more. USPS tracking says it got to my home town at 10:04 AM today, so I should have my block the latest=tomm. :)

edit; On the Enzotech you can swap the mount plate end for end,(upside down, and while the fittings are installed), so the fittings are on an angle from front to back, instead of directly up and down. It does not cover the entire NB, but its seems to cover enough. Pretty slick looking block tho.

Are the bridge coolers adequate to take my QX6700 to 3.6-3.8ghz 24/7? The NB looks good and i'll add a fan to it but the SB concerns me as it's passive. I have a Spirit II on my P5N32 that I can swap over or I could get the Enzotec SLF-1. I've got a G92 (no Xfire) so space shouldn't be an issue.

hardtarget, I believe that both UT versions of X48 are the same except for one being a DDR3 board...the pictures in this thread already show what it will look like (the one with the rear external heatsink). The LT is the same exact board except for the cooling sinks being different. The X48 LT board is identical to the X38 LT board. Even the cooling is identical.
The Transpiper that was used on the P35 was later available online. The problem was, that most tests people did here showed that it made no difference at all. I'm sure the new Transpiper will also be available as a standf alone product down the road. It's probably wiser to get the LT version to save money now. If the new Transpiper turns out to be really worth it, suck it up and buy it as a stand alone later on. At least by getting the LT, you could buy a whole arrary of aftermarket sinks made for the north and southbridges.
I own the P35 UT board and just ordered the X48 LT board...I am happy with this now (was going to go X38 LT) but should have waited and gotten the P35 LT board back then to save $$$. I am mainly getting this board because my new Dominator 4gb kit doesn't work with the P35 UT board and I want to have 4gb before I make the switch to DDR3 (probably when Nehalem comes out).

Have you messed around with the GTL settings? I know that helped me a lot when I was tweaking my DFI P35 UT...once you find the right number, you should be able to lower your vcore and vtt and still have same or higher clocks. I'm sure newer BIOS revisions will help too.Quote:

Has anyone heard anything about the T3R version (DDR3 version of same board)? DFI websites lists it but there is no picture and no retailers seem to have it? Just curious because I've yet to see any DDR3 DFI boards anywhere, even in the forums?

Wierd thing is that SG dosn't show the NB volts higher when I raise them. I did nudge the vtt up just a tad as in SG running 10kfft and or Blend the vtt would flex from 1.1v to 1.08v, now it is a steady 1.1v in SG. I am now using Setfsb and am at 485, just want to check it in windows, as 485 was a no boot for me before which I find odd.Quote:

I have that article downloaded :D I am going the opposite way with my GTL's. I have them at 72/73/72 right now. Boots either way at 485fsb, raised the NB a bit and have the CPU volts at 1.275v which is just a tad up. VTT is 1.109v and havn't touched the PLL yet. Old board defaulted to 1.55v on the PLL, this 1 jumps from 1.51v to 1.640v, kinda high there if I was going 1.640v as I heard the highest recomended for 24/7 was 1.15v.Quote:

63% is the target reference for 45nm processors. Confirmed good GTLREF vs VTT settings in the X38 thread is going to be real close for this board.
See now Praz, I saw you wrote that :) Thank You. I am using the 65% right now and doing ok, got it to 8.5x490 now, she wanted more NB voltage with the 2x2gb sticks, about the same as my other board. So far, it clocks very close to the DK P35 T2RS. Maybe with a tad less voltage to.

OK, Got it back up to 8.5x500, Passes 10kfft's for a quick 5 minute run so far at 1.344v/1.32v Load. Same as my old board. GTL's set to 70/69/70 with VTT set to 1.109v.
Interesting part that I am sure a bios update will cure is that the board Over volts the CPU voltage by .032v, and Under volts the ram by .06v and Under volts the NB by .026v. These are not taken with a Meter, but do sorta coincide with my old settings on the P35 that were known good. Just thought I would throw that out there and will be testing overnight for a check on stability.
I have to say 1 thing tho, with the Enzotech WB on the NB, I have not seen my temp over 19C while running Orthos yet. Thats with water at about 52f in the rez tho. Great board so far!

hmm tested yesterday running at 450.. NB around 1.41v for 900mhz CL3-4-3-9 trd 6...
NB temps on passive cooling ( not really cause its touching my coolitfreezone block.. lucky ) only 29C.. in freaking malaysia..similar with maximus on water would get around 38C.

Been looking at the X38 varient and its great as the layout suits me with PCI-E 16X graphics slot is highest up it can go means i dont need to move my HD rack then!
Was prompted recently by my friend that a X48 DDR2 varient exists i was like...:shrug: :rofl:
But then i see it does exist!, so why not get the higher Binned chipset then if its only $20 more!... but then i see the layout has the PCI-E graphics slot down a peg.. which is no use to me.....
But then i find there is two versions of the DDR2 Varient... LT and UT... actually theres more then a cooling difference between the two the layout of slots changes too!!

I spoke with someone @ DFI about this because it really pissed me off when I ordered my x48 T2R thinking I would have enough room by the NB for a good cooler, only to come to find out that it will not because they screwed up the pics.

I am planning to buy a QX9650.Is this board good for quads or not?
I am also going to pair it with a Thermalright Ultra 120 Extreme.Does it fit if it has that custom cooler on the NB?
How does it work with 4x1GB Crucial Ballistix DDR1000?I already have the Ram and I do not want to have any problems.
The DFI offer for X48 seems very interesting and I am asking the professionals what should I buy.

As has already been noted the linked picture is not representative of the UT X48 DDR2 board. If I was wanting a DDR2 version of the X48 chipset I would be ordering what is presently available (LT X48) and not waiting on a future product that may or may not see the light of day.

Does a table for GTL tweaking exist for 45nm CPUs?...similar to the one linked earlier for 65nm CPUs? I am getting this board this week and don't know anything about how to set the GTL values for my E8400...most people are saying it should be between 60-67 but some people here have it higher and it seems to be working. Also, the GTL settings only work in relation to VTT correct? Meaning the GTL settings should only be adjusted as you adjust VTT.
On the DFI boards, it seems, that if you can get these values down right, your OC becomes much much more stable.
Forsaken, could you please post your BIOS settings for this OC? Is it prime stable yet? Looking good on Superpi...I'm sure with some sub-timing tweaks, you'll get it under 10 seconds.Quote:

Damn that's the board for me, like the colors more (assuming its black PCB and bright orange för slots like the rest od the DK boards) and the LT and UT versions are a bit pricey for me as I have to import from the states. I hope its going to be out soon!Quote:

there is a gain is xfire and probly future cards (pci-e2.0 with 216x slots) and it has better memory performance at low latency or high speeds

VTT is 1.104 set in bios but shows 1.12 in bios, 1.1v in SG. Gtl's= 70/69/70, still toying with them tho.

they dont make the x38 anymore and they are the same price so i would go x48 as of now but not upgrade from x38 to x48 (but the bios for x48 here i come)Quote:
