Yeah, so? I'm more concerned about the crappy performance on high FSB frequencies than the FSB wall of their CPU.

So... u post a review and u state that they only got to 400Mhz overclocking, and I said thats BS cause they got to 505 (and where stopped only by CPU fsb wall not the mobo itself)! Are u a sad muppet that has bought an Asus P5K-deluxe and to justify your choice you have to discredit the competition's board?
You couldn't be more wrong about the P5K thing. I'm really not a fan of Asus and their overpriced boards with crappy components (at least on the cheaper side of the price range). Actually the DS3R was my first choice until I saw that review. Now I'm just not sure what to do.
Anyway, you totally missed the point. Yes, the board clocks to 505MHz where their CPU hits it's FSB wall. I have no problem with that. However, I do have a problem with the part of the review where they benched at 400MHz and as you can see the board didn't put up any good scores at all. That's what bothers me. What's the point of hitting sky-high FSBs if it won't perform on par with the competition. I hope it's just a BIOS issue and that it will be addressed soon, but until then I'm not gonna risk buying it.
Just received my P35-DS4 & E6600. Very happy because everything run smooth with stock setting except CPU-Z 1.4 show Core speed of 1.6 Ghz with x6 multiplier.
I am sure my cpu multiplier was set at x9 in the CMOS.
Why??
Thanks
Intel Speedstep. when on load then you will see x9 if not it slows it down to x6.
Any newer bios coming out for the DQ6?
Here my two first Results with my P35-DS3R

Nice result, almost 5G :yepp:
What modifications have you done to the board ? Vdimm mod ? Or does it overvolt a little bit, because the bios max was 2.50V I thought.
I'm having no problems with my DQ6, it recovers from anything my rusty overclocking skills throw at it and just keeps coming back for more.
P35-DQ6 driver page updated:
http://www.giga-byte.com.tw/Support/...ame=GA-P35-DQ6
Also new memory modules added to the QVL:
http://www.giga-byte.com.tw/FileList...ga-p35-dq6.pdf
The Corsair Dominator CM2X1024-9136C5D kit has been added, i have a 2GB kit of the Corsair CM2X1024-8500C5 memory en route. I am troubleshooting to see what is holding back my FSB.
Thought it was wise to get some memory on the QVL and faster then my 800MHz G.SKILL. After that then it must be the CPU holding me back and a 450FSB wall.
I'm using OCZ 7200 Platinum (D9s) and if I overclock it too much or do something stupid it goes into the reboot loop and then comes back on at a safe setting. I think this is normal for the board and certainly beats resetting the cmos everytime I screw up an overclock.
Can someone tell when is a new bios going to appear and whatever if it will allow selecting straps?I have an P35-Dq6 and it works flawlessly with Mushkin 8500 kits but unfortunely the memory performance has to be improved. If the new bios will allow changing straps that is going to be just great:D Excellent board overall ;)
Richard, I have the Corsair Dominator PC-9136C5 sticks and they just don't boot with nothing but crappy loose timings like 5-5-5 for 1:1, 5-6-6 for 5:6 or 5-7-7 for 2:3 and it only does it if you leave the ram timings on "auto"...
Everytime I go to try and tighten the timings with the Vdimm I know these sticks can handle it just refuses to boot if you overclock the cpu and goes back to default settings eg. E6600 @ 2.4Ghz.
This board so far is the biggest pain to overclock the Corsair sticks I have, My Asus P5B-Deluxe & BFG 680i boards did a far better and easier job with these same sticks. Using F4 bios.
450 mhz with 4-3-3-8 and 625 mhz with 5-5-5-15 at 2.3v from bios.I now run them at 514 mhz 4-4-4-12 with all sub-timings streched at the limit. And i mean Orthos-stable,daily use.
http://www.crazypc.ro/forum/attachme...8&d=1180014241
This for 625,i also could do 640 mhz at 2.45v but not for daily use, just benching.
I have a pair of corsair 8500 cl5 (2 Gbytes total) that in my Asus Commando (p965) refused to boot at CAS 4 and now with DQ6 are super stable at 4-4-4-12 with F4 bios performance item set to "extreme".
Newbie here, I have some issue with my newly built PC, my system was self reboot when I run CoreTemp 0.95, this problem mostly happen only when CoreTemp was run after system just started.
I wonder whether this is a hardware problem or can be solve with future BIOS/Driver update.
Anybody facing this problem before? Is this a common problem?
I don't want to return my motherboard/RAM.:(
just traded in my new p5wdh n got the p35-dsr
i will post results this week
Yes, it's only BIOS issue. Confirmed.....
I use BIOS F3 on DQ6 and it performs crazy fast like hell.......
But when I updated to F4.....it performs like SH*T..........
So, I go back with F3 BIOS.......:D
I hope Gigabyte fix this issue in F5 bios later.......
Please post some score Mobius. Also does anyone knows when F5 bios is going to appear?
I have started a topic on our dutch forum about these boards, and made a table with differences between the boards. I'am not sure if these are all differences, and if all voltage options are correct (For example, I read 2.90 volt in a ds-4 review, but it has 3.35 as max vdimm).
http://computer-tuning.nl/topics/Gig...-P35-Diffs.PNG
So ... if I forgot something, report if :)
p35c-ds3r doesnt have a 4-pin molex socket near the DDR2/3 slots like the DS3p and up. Have u seen this too?:http://www.gigabyte.com.tw/Products/...isonSheet.aspx
I TOOK the DS3P :yepp:
I have tested on Super pi 1M, but time is a little bit slow I think. On my P5W DH dlx I got 13.984 sec, but now I get 14.216 sec at the same speed and timings (9x400 cl4-3-2-7).
But I used bios F4 for that. I can better switch back to F3 bios?
mobius-- do you know if there is a proformance difference between the ds3p and the dq6?
Im about to order a board today and trying to decide if there is an advatage to getting the dq6..
Im getting a chiller so not sure ill keep the silent pipe on the nb and sb on the dq6 if i get that....
On the performance side...I think no difference.
It differs only in the features and silentpipe and 12 phase PWM. If you don't need any silent pipe or 12 phase PWM.....just take the the DS3P.
Btw, the 12 phase PWM is good......no vdrop in my mobo even at 1.575V

DQ6 Does esay + 640mhz FSB :D
New P35T-DQ6 review:

http://valid.x86-secret.com/show_oc?id=203223
still testing...
Mob1us i mean to post first scores with f3 bios and then with f4 bios to see the differences.also could you please upload f3 bios because it cannot be downloaded anymore from gigabyte-s site.
can someone post a link to download the F3 bios for a GA DQ6 please?
edit: i finally found it there: http://www.x-drivers.ru/component/op...info/id,22635/
but it was not easy
got this bios P35DQ6.D5C , but i cant flash ^^
just got my ds3 testing it out
i cant figure out how to change memory timings
option 1 or 2 lol 5-5-5-17 lmao
I have changed back to F3 bios for my DS3P, and indeed, its a little bit faster. Superpi went from 14.156 sec (best of 10 runs) to 14.078 (best of 10), where that result was not just a lucky one.
But.. with a lower FSB and lower DDR-speed, I got 13.985 seconds on my old P5W DH dlx
i'm @ 444 fsb lol
i i set cpu milti to 7 it dont feel fast
superpi 512=7seconds
1m=17 seconds
Detailed P35-DQ6 review, they only reached 482FSB:
http://www.pcstats.com/articleview.cfm?articleID=2118
I'm staring to think it could veyr well be CPU limitations.
well i found my sweet spot for daily use
415fsb 7multi 4-4-4-12 cpu:1.35v ram:2.1
then i use easytune if i want more juice
i got it @444fsb now n time to sleep lol
motherboard 35c cpu 42c
coretemp shows 42 n easy tune showin 25c
which one to trust lol no way cpu @25c
I'm not even gonna worry about FSB because 45nm is due kinda soon. I was thinking about buying a new E6420...but nah.
 love that emoticon
Is Gigabyte P35-DS4/DQ6 support PCI-E v2 card. I can't find any PCI-E v2 info in the manual/product box or Gigabyte website.
How about Asus P5k Deluxe or other?

Hello.
Yesterday arrived my new mobo Gigabyte P35 DS4. My first impression is great (probably the best board I have ever had).
My problem is when I run Orthos at 475FSB * 7, Everest show 65º in System Temperature and 64º-65º In CPU. I have a Thermalright Ultra 120.
Temps in previous motheboard (Asus P5W DH Deluxe) was 45º in system amb 59-60º in CPU when ran orthos.
Is this normal ?
Sorry by my bad English
What util do you use to measure the temperatures?
I have GA-965P-DS3 and when I changed the BIOS(F10 to F11), the EasyTune5 utility started to show temperatures of both the CPU and the northbridge higher for about 7'C. The BIOS is also showing higher temperatures, but I am sure the temperatures are the same as with the F10.
Try SpeedFan or CoreTemp.
BTW, I've ordered a P35-DS4 and it will arrive for about 10 days. :)
I want to know, what settings and voltages have you used to achieve 475MHz FSB?
FSB + 0,05
vMCH + 0,05
VDIMM + 0,45
VCore 1,400
I think it depends on the CPU and the default multiplier as in this post:
http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/...70&postcount=8
I can run 375 x 8 but I cannot boot at 375 x 7! If u do the math the NBCC is running higher, thats the only difference. With the e2160 default multi is x 9.

@hiwa
Can you please make some tests with these settings:
CPU: 3.2GHz(8x400MHz)
RAM: 800MHz CL4 4-4-12
Memory Performance Enahnce(in BIOS): Turbo
That's how my system is running and I am curious how it will perform with the P35-DS4 when it arrives.
Thanks
Dont know who/what ever to believe, some guys said that the Gigabyte memory is a "mess", memory wont o/c and compability problems, Thats why I ordered ASUS P5K deluxe, after some readings, I realize that the Asus cooling really sucks, MOSFETS getting very hot, and they got some RAID probs, I am using a pair of Mushkin XP8500(D9MGH) is there anyone who can confirm it will work with the Gigabyte, atm that is holding me back to pick Gigabyte, I got to know today, So i can change my order tomorrow (last date), because I already payed :X So Any help much much much appreciated!!!
Thanks,
We have different SuperPi versions. On mine( Super Pi / Mod 1.5 XS) it needs 16.302s.
Sandra scores are the following:
CPU Arithmetic: Dhrystone: 29310, Whetstone 20531
CPU Multimedia: Int: 176551, FPU(iSSE2): 95354
Multi-Core Efficiency: Bandwidth: 9457 MB/s, Latency: 56ns
Cache and Memory: Combined: 24781 MB/s, Speed Factor: 36.7
Memory Latency: Random: 91ns, Speed Factor: 89.3
Memory bandwidth: Int: 6110MB/s, Float: 6114MB/s
I did the benchmarking on Vista Ultimate 32bit. I guess you were benching on the same OS. If yes, then it P35-DS4 seems to be up to 2% faster than 965P-DS3. It is not a significant improvement in performance, but we'll see how it OC's with Kentsfield on watter.
i have a question, other than the DDR3 what does the DDR3 ver of the DS3R have over the non DDR3 version? because theres like a $50 difference in price, or is the DS3P worth getting over the DS3R performance and OC wise?
DDR3 is the only difference. Here are the differences between all the P35-boards (Dutch). The P35T-boards are not in it, but the only differences with the non-T versions are the DDR3-slots instead of DDR2-slots.
I think the DS3P will be a little better in overclocking, because it has better cooling.
Since this is an "bios/info" thread I will post my findings here. I read a review at legionhardware that the xp-120 fitted with the crazy cool stuff. It does after u remove the backplate and twist the crazy cool heatpipe to clear the heatsink:http://img504.imageshack.us/img504/7...1279dh5.th.jpg
2.45Vdimm is a lot, definately for 24/7.
Here is what i use for 24/7 for my FSB.

This is 4 sticks of ram too. I quite enjoy this motherboard.
Two new reviews of the P35-DS3R:
http://www.legitreviews.com/article/513/1/

Lowfat....why not use a 7x multi?...your SuperPi score would go way up.
I just recently got P35 DQ6 and Ballistix Tracer 8500. But having alot troubles with the memory.
BIOS F3: Default settings 800 2:3 5-5-5-18 1.8 volt
BIOS F4: Default settings 1066 1:2 5-7-7-24 2.2 volt
I can't run Memtest86+ v1.70, Memtest 3.2, Orthos Blendtest without my computer hangs up.
With F3 BIOS at default settings, I can run all the tests without problem, but when set manually to 1:2 to run it at 1066 Mhz 2.2-2.40 volt and the freezing came back.
Can stresstest the CPU, even with OC to 3.2 Ghz without any problem and it's the Tracer I having alot problem with.
Thought I got faulty modules, but with BIOS F3: Default settings 800 2:3 5-5-5-18 1.8 volt and 4 Pass without any errors reported. It doesn't lokes like it's faulty modules I got and I got no idea what's wrong here.
Everything in BIOS is set to default settings, all Eist etc is disabled and trying with both Auto/manual set the RAM settings too find the problem with all the freezings.
With Everest BETA 4.0.0 it reports:
Northbridge: 1.25 volt
Southbridge: 1.05 volt
Aren't this too low?
Anyone knows if the Tuniq fits on the mobo? (The DS4)
P35 DQ6 owners on here are saying that the F4 bios is crap compared to F3 in mem scores, how much worse off is it ? and anyone know whats improved in F4 over F3 according to Gigabyte. Thanx.
Why cant I install the intel storage matrix driver? It says my system is not up to spec. When I change the bios options from IDE mode to AHCI or Raid mode, I get blue screen on boot up. Catch 22?
one noob question
is posible tu insert ICH9R Driver in windows xp? without floppy of curse.
thanks
