single xfire adapter too, like the 6870, and i thought the original version had a backplate.
can he atleast tell us what cards they are not?

You can tell from this pic that it has xingle xfire adapter? Are you sure about that? :)
probably 2 x 6950, no one have 6970... at least with final vBIOS
I admit nothing. It is nothing. What you see is not real. Errrrr.... :D
Since they are in his hands and not his PC they must have wooden screws!
Monstru so if u got 69xx... show us please some results :) Ofc if ur allowed to do that :)

price
6970 3999 Yuan
6950 2999 Yuan
http://translate.google.de/translate...9001618J1.html
so 500$ and 375$ i think?
EDIT, after seeing zalbards post
in the article it talks about the 580 being 3999 yuan aswell, so i assume the 6970 is same price as 580, and 6950 is 25% cheaper
It will be priced similar to 580.
These better be pre-release or China-exclusive prices, otherwise I think I am going to be left without an AMD-made Christmas present. :(
So roughly $350 for the 6950 and $500 for the 6970
AMD prices its cards competitively, so those are the levels one should look at for performance..
Things are starting to get vaguely interesting :yepp:
this is hd 6870
http://img836.imageshack.us/img836/3765/63152223.jpg
From the old 580GTX leaks it was supposed to be priced at 4600 Yuan Which is Equivalent to 690$ so i wont take Chinese leaks for granted
6X50... The 2nd digit is harder to read (still looks like a 9), but the first is a 6, 3rd a 5 & last a 0. 6850 is shorter than the 1 in the picture, so looks like a 6950 to me.

http://vipeax.nl/unika.png
zooming in on this image i see the second as a 9

Their 6870 btw.
That actually confuses me. In that picture the sticker with all the lines is missing (like the 6870 one).
Bad memory? HD5870 was numero uno single GPU for an eternety, wake up..
He didn't say they produced the best single card, he said if performance is close (like it always is), and if the price is nice (i.e. undercut) then AMD win again.
We'll see who wins this round...
As a smart nvidiot i personally hope 6970 is a much faster single gpu card then GTX 580 , that might result in Jen-Hsun Huang hurt ego and he would rush the release of Keplar :D
I think you may have stumbled upon a new law of reality. In essence:
"Nvidia has always had a faster single GPU, except for when they didn't. Therefore Nvidia will always have a faster single GPU, except for when they won't."
I dare doubters to try and assail this logic. :fact:
So I'm guessing the 6970 will have 6870 crossfireX performance
so there is no need for dual crossfireX ports. LOL jkjk
Plus Amd wants to save the planet by going green
competition is much more than just who has the biggest card, thats why we have prices.
in performance per dollar who wins
in performance per watt who wins
in performance per mm2 who wins
in performance for a single PCie slot who wins
in performance for maximum gpus in a single computer who wins
????
just cause a 580 is faster than a 5870 does not mean i wouldnt buy a 6850.
so i think what your trying to say is who built the biggest hottest and most expensive card this round. which does not mean they "won" at 40nm, cause im pretty sure with fermi being 6 months late, no real mid range competition for almost a year, and we just now get the full real deal, i think nvidia more than failed 40nm which cause the rest of the 40nm owners to have overpriced AMD cards for the first half of 2010
Thanks
One can not say who wins a round
it is the one who is fastest?
it is he who consumes the least power?
it is the one that is cheapest?
I just know that speed requires power and costs money
a 6850 is cheaper and uses less power than a 6870, so is the 6850 the best card?
Why don't you just put E30M3 on your ignore list and everyone will live happily ever after?
^ I agree
And you are shooting blanks, HD5870 was nr. 1 for what, 8 months, and suddenly it's not the fastest GPU for these 8 months because GTX480 was intended to compete with it, gezuz, great logic...
ATI/AMD had the crown for so long that they fell asleep, HD6970/6950 should have been released weeks ago, and be faster by a substancial margin compared to the 580, seems everyone in this position always make this mistake..
I for one will wait untill 6970/50 shows up before I decide what my next GPU will be...
What say you about 5970? It is the fastest card, and it has been the fastest card for a full year, after it was released Nvidia brought the 400s and then the 500s but still the top-of-the-line 500 isn't as fast as AMD's 1 year old card.
I mean, if it's about performance AND price AND power, AMD has been annihilating Nvidia for quite some time. But even if it's just performance, AMD's been on top for quite a while again. So what is your criteria, exactly?
It never was meant to compete with the GTX480. Don't come up with some random fud to make your arguments. Guess you never even read articles like http://www.anandtech.com/show/2937/4.
I can also tell you from an ex friend who was a very reliable source (who sadly passed away AKA CJ) that the 5970 was made purely to defeat a fully working GTX480 (which actually came out as a GTX580, because Fermi failed and guess what: even with the performance increase over just a full 512 sharders, it still lost that game which made the 5970 a 100% success for AMD) and that their next generation would be taking care of taking the crown with a single GPU. Sadly 32nm got cancelled, so they would now try that on 40nm with a bigger die-size instead of beating it with a cheap card (again!). If you think that AMD's plans were to compete with a 512 shader GTX480 with the 5870....
Looks like someone might've got a slap on the hand for showing a certain something of a certain card  *cough* Monstru *cough*
(he blacked out one of the cards in the pic)
Well... we know cards are out there at least!
Of course :)
I can't wait to see how they perform, i always like new tech, and especially with the architecture of cayman.
6950 will be a bit out of my price range, but i may just have to get one anyway :( if they're on level with a 480 then i would be very happy with that performance. However, we will have to see what the GTX 570 offers (but i think it's pretty much obvious anyway).
What are you trying to tell us?
Maybe you speak the same language as this guy:
http://img.skitch.com/20101203-cwxt5...uqg3stu2cu.jpg
(No offense intended :) )
Very well said
And let me add that even when GTX580 is indeed the fastest single GPU card now, it is not a good deal against something like HD6850 CF (I know , I know , two cards but who cares ! We want best performance for cheaper + less power consumption)
I tried HD6870 CF , HD6850 CF and GTX580 and let me tell you that HD6850 CF beats GTX580 in most games and sometimes with a large margin, and for 360$ VS 530$ for the GTX580 , so AMD wins hands down
I should get the HD6900 pretty soon too ;) :D

Real or Fake
Agreed, with those prices, one can conclude that HD 6950 will be around GTX 480 performance, while HD 6970 will be FASTER than GTX 580 (which can easily drop its price to anticipate HD 6970 absolute performance). :yepp:
I don't think AMD will risk a very bad press that their card will come later than competition, perform just as fast or infact slower like what you've insinuated, but cost as much while loosing on feature front (hey, CUDA & PhysX are still great selling checkboxes for the green team). It will be directly stamped as a FAILURE by reviewers out there.
Yep, no worry, i'll keep my bet & promise. But only happily taking that 6 months hiatus if HD 6970 does have monstrous performance, if not, i'll be begrudgingly turning into an nVidiot, i swear ! :ROTF:
Still 1GB and not even 1600 shaders... :S
this is slide 11... i wonder what the other slides say
The "Worlds most advanced enthusiast GPU"
So what is HD 6970 going to be? :)
Not the first time that they misspelled speed...

http://img264.imageshack.us/img264/6...8gv7pjfoj7.jpg
hint: this 6950 looks too small (looks like an edited 6850 slide) also note that the space after the + before HDMI is missing, AGAIN.
http://i54.tinypic.com/iz7pd2.jpg
6870 is even bigger.... (this slide is likely to be false too, fyi)
Plus, 127W -> 217W is a easy photoshop
1536 number is fake, it does not line up with the rest of the data in the table. :p:
Whoever photoshops this stuff should diaf, srsly...
Less than 2 weeks till release and all that we know is that it has a freaking backplate. Ooohh the internet disappoints me with the lack of information.
oh yeah sure they did, I really like to work on my 570, man the uber performance i get, low power, for that low price is amazing.... i love to play on these 570 cards, I just bought 3 of them for so much SLI power..... they are all over the place to buy, massive stock.....
same for my 580 rig, had to buy 3 of them for massive SLI, only problem in EU is that you never find 3 of the same part at the same time, so i just bought a MSI-PNY-ASUS one from each.... looks really cool in my rig....
that was off course to replace my 4 way SLI 460 all EVGA FTW version the only one which is able to look decent against the new 6870 that off course replaced my 3 way sli 480 which i used only to heat my house.
a good link for you:
http://www.nvidia.com/content/global/global.php
there's the word iron in irony ^^
I really don't know where you guy's get the energy to argue so much before anything is even officially released.
I'm almost kind of jealous to be totally honest. :p:
Every year we get less and less information.
By now we should have official specs, over the top specs that everyone and their mother wants to believe, official photos and a leaked pdf.
What gives?
The reason is simply because they haven't distributed any/many samples yet. See its never an AMD employee who leaks the info, when the information is with 1000 different Reviewers around the globe, some1 with a week stomach leaks that info for website hits or just some attention but sadly that is not the case this time around.
Now the debate can be whether its something deliberate or whether even AMD is in a fix.
clearly there is some problem with 6970 and from the look of it seems they still couldn't fix it
Yep indeed.AMD just can't make the decision on the branding and colors on the boxes, they are in big dilemma! Also a huge problem is a new logo design, last I heard they had 3 parallel "design" teams working on it 24/7 to meet the December deadline, but chances are slim they will make it :(
/sarcasm off
meh we all know that something isn't right you must just admit it... delays, no single info reviewers receiving 6950 only etc
Look at page 69, monstru put a pic of him holding two cayman cards. So... just drop it eric66... The cards are obviously in the hands of reviewers
aren't they both 6950s ?
says who?
stop being delusional
and i hope to god you didn't think that 217W slide for the "6950" is real too
ps. one got blacked out too
They've actually had the architecture presentations already - the main thing is that the final specs were all labeled TBA and so any specs floating around were probably either fake ones and/or decoys sent to AIBs
lol seriously one got blacked out i wonder what was the reason they looked identical to me
So you suggest AMD face same problem of Nvidia ?and they will need to disable 2SIMD and release cut off "fermi version" .... lol
if it was the case so the 6950 will have 4SIMD disabled so ....
If the full Cayman have some problem, his little brother using the same core, will face the same problem .. if AMD need to redesign the 6970, they redesign at same time the 6950...
you can't separe the downgraded version of the 6970 ... as you can't separate the GTX470 of the 480 ( who is just a 480 with 1 SIMD disabled ( with memory controller downgraded too )
There is no problem, people are just getting impatient... Won't be long now. A week+ a few days and Cayman will rock your games :)
the 6970 issue is that its to fast.
AMD couldnt handle the speed it run the games faster than you could see.
the 10.12 cataclysm driver is HUGE, breaking the 1gig limit.
It all points to the same conclusion, people have to high expectations to have information about stuff before they are out.
The above is your reply to Hd 6950 FAKE slide. I wonder what other evidence you have to confirm your statement that "amd screwed up 6970" and maybe you can share it with us.
Since this is AMD thread you should not be surprised that some people see such post as a troll specially without any evidence or at least a rumor that AMD did screw up something.
This time you did tone down a bit, but still the same arguments. How do you know what cards are the reviewers getting? How about delays? I recall only one three weeks delay and it was not on HD 6970 only.
The reviewers usually get the cards about five days before the NDA ends. The GTX 570 is supposed to be released December 7 which means all the reviewers should have the card now and I don't see any info coming from the reviewers the same was before the GTX 580 release so what is so unusual about the luck of info from the reviewers on the HD 69** cards?
You were close as to why it was delayed, it's actually because the card was so fast that it created micro-black holes that in small amounts showed no harm till they tested in massive groups that created one large black hole and sucked up all the 6900's meaning they had to make some more, tone down the speeds a bit, and re-test the newer batches. :yepp:
