Try switching memory slots. Memtest (DOS version) is fantastic for isolating problems. If Memtest is error free you know most settings are good, you may just need to up NB\SB voltage and / or CPU / RAM volts.

Woot! Got my new P5Q Pro from Newegg. Turned out that my other board did die after all. :(
Anyways, this new board already came pre-flashed with 1406 BIOS so I'm good to go. Hopefully I won't screw anything up this time.
Well it seems after much struggle for a while I think I finally got this figured out. The whole time it was the fsb strap that was causing me the trouble, not that I was selecting the wrong one, but that I was not letting the MB select it. It would seem that "AUTO" in that spot solved all my fsb stuggles. Before I would use manual and set it myslef to 333 or 400 strap and could not even boot above 465 fsb, I set it to auto and get into windows at 550fsb, although currently at 500 until I get it stable. Hope this helps some others with the same issues.
On another note, I have checked some of the voltages for the NB, Ram etc and found bios 1406 greatly overvolts everything.
Bios NB
1.26=1.37 real
1.28=1.38
1.30=1.40
1.32=1.42
1.34=1.45
Bios Ram
2.02=2.20 real
Iam still in the process of going through these to see what other voltages are out of whack, although it's difficult to get inthere due to access because of my water block covering the fsb Vtt and Cpu PLL.

Hey Ket,
Does any of your mods include a change to the FSB strap? or is it mainly memory timings and compatibility?

Hello ppl
Im new here .. actually registered just because one question :D
System:
MB: P5Q deluxe ... BIOS American megatrends Ver. 1004 date 7/23/2008 ( CPU-Z data)
Disk: 2x WD 250 gb; 16Mb ... raid 0 (strip)
2x2Gb Corsair RAM 5,5,5,18
PROBLEM:
When i boot my comp .. if i hawe external USB disk plugged in (on my front pannel USB plug) it wants to boot it from that
usb disk. My settings in BIOS are
1. disk drives
2. CDROM
2 Externall
when i go into bios with USB disk plugged in (or USB key for that matter) it only shopws to boot from that thing .... grrr
I also couldent Install Vista untill i didnt unplug all USB drives out.
QUESTION:
Would bios updates from ASUS fix this problem ?
Or would any of bioses that i downloaded from here (P5Q Dlx mBIOS 1403 and P5Q Series 1611 mBIOSes) fix this problem ?
I am newb at comp. hardware and i dont intent to owerclock or modify settings any ways, just fix this anoying problem.
SIDENOTE:
Is it possible to make motherboard boot any faster ??? all nagging screens take time as my vista boot time ffs :(
I also got Saphire radeon 4870 silent efficiency, and read somewhere that flashing its bios makes it work better. Anyone here hawe soime exp with that ?
THX if replied .... Deychy
There are some 4870 Sapphire cards that did ship with a somewhat faulty BIOS, but you need to know its exact model to know if it was affected or not. I think it was only the 1GB version tho, not sure.
as for your BIOS question, you should update it to the latest stable version and check. Although I believe it's just the boot order you have set up wrong, it could help.
Additionally, I'd like to make public that I got rid of that pesky aaCenter.exe thing that installs with ASUS softweare, and curious, after having the temp bug on a daily basis, I haven't gotten it for a week now...
Rule of thumb, never use asussetup, always use the regular setup file ;)
I finally got my board to work somewhat good. So im gonna try and flash with ur modded bios again.
But i dont know what to choose:P
I will run a e5200 and 2x2gb ocz pc8500 reaper mems and the Asus P5Q vanilla.
My main issue atm is that my cpu cant handle the fsb:( So what bios would u recomend to me?
Well, Ket, you'll be happy to know that the BIOS isn't the problem on my board. I got a new BIOS chip from ASUS, pre-flashed with 1613, and it DIDN'T WORK!
Just happened to be that after the flash, it went DOA. It was only maybe 4 days old too. Dang it!
I guess the board is next then. Hopefully I can wing an advance RMA. I don't want to pull all of the parts and have them laying around .. esp with a 2yr old!
Crap. I was 100% positive it would work. I can't see anything wrong with the board, caps, etc etc. No black marks or scorching. I think the volt regs are gone myself..
Ouch. I didn't have things that bad but my first P5Q Pro started to get fickle after just a few months use, dodgy CPU fan header, so off on RMA it went.
I've never had that aacenter thing, EVER. Not by using the regular setup files. Never had the temp bug either.. I'll assume its because of aacenter never going near my system
You couldn't use the AFUDOS I posted up? Its worked twice for me now, no need for that kdatool thing, which imo is very bloated. Don't need the BIOS files people can grab a BIOS file for their board easy.
I hear ya ... I've never had a board just up and fail on me like that, EVER!
I called up ASUS this morning, and talked to them (they have a disclaimer that is sent with the BIOS chip saying if it doesn't work than call this number...)
They offered an RMA, and even cross-shipped without any form of CC collateral. The board will be here tomorrow. I prepare, assemble, test, and ship back the old board when I'm all done.
I think they know that something went really wrong with the manufacturing process on some of these boards. I couldn't believe they offered to help that easily and that fast!
Glad that they are helping me out though, I was thinking I'd be out for 6 weeks, and I'd have to find a home for my parts to keep them protected!
All in all, it's only been 6 days, and for 2 of them it was the weekend ;)! Including shipping! There's some award winning service!
I'd say its bloated.. 500MB-something unzipped, I gutted it all and it went down to something like 20MB :p: Seriously, who needs BIOS files for THEIR mobo, of which they probably have a copy of the last "good" BIOS anyway. Just seems unessessary.
Consider yourself lucky! us folk in the UK would never get treatment like that. (I've tried with various suppliers who simply sent the stuff in the wrong direction, although they KNEW getting the stuff back wouldn't be a problem, they wouldn't just resend the order, they HAD to get the stuff back from the delivery company first :\ )Quote:

You know, my P5Q is still going strong and running great, but I didn't have any luck with any of the modded BIOSes. I am running, I believe, the 2nd or 3rd newest drivers from Asus. I tried the latest ones, and many in between and this particular BIOS definitely gives me the highest and most stable overclocks, but the CPU temp is reported incorrectly in the AI Suite and in the BIOS. I have to rely on CoreTemp and Everest, which give a completely different temp reading than the BIOS, and the readings from CoreTemp and Everest seem a lot more realistic, too.
Ket could you also please mod the latest 1901 bios for P5Q-E??? Thx...
haha he's done doing this. Just saw the 1901 on the website, my P5Q-E will be here today.

Hey guys,
unfortunately Ket stopped working on the BIOS for P5Q series. But if he let us convince him to continue his mission, he will take care of my request first and attach "NB GTL Reference" to the BIOS for the P5Q "Vanilla". :D
What bios should i pick for my p5q vanilla running a e5200. Having trouble to get over 340fsb :(
Download from this LINK
It is the Pack from first Page and use the p5q 1611m.rom for your Board.
Ok, thats too bad that he stopped modding them?? As Im too lazy to go through the who thread, anyone that could tell me why he stopped?? As the biosīs were great, so they will be missed! :)
I stopped simply because there isn't a whole lot more to accomplish by modding. I'll have a look at this latest batch but don't hold your breath guys.
I have tested the modded 1613 bios on my P5Q pro and I must say it respondes better to higher OCīing.
545mhz fsb with E8400 on air and still testing..:yepp:
Asus 1613 bios stopped at 530mhz:mad:
Great work with the bios Ket!
Hi, I have ASUS P5Q Deluxe and I have read that ASUS advice that the new Bios 1805 will fix the termal sensors of the motherboard. I have already flashed my Bios with new one but I still have a problem with my Core 3 and Core 4 on my Q9550. The promblem is: it doesn`t matter if my PC is overclocked or default all the programs which indicates the CPU temp shows that the 3rd and the 4th cores have 39C and the temp doesn`t move down. http://img3.imageshack.us/img3/3159/39789092.th.jpg http://img204.imageshack.us/img204/6...4220ik6.th.jpg
Thank you in advance!
Pls give me advice: do I need to wait for another Bios, do I need to change my CPU or do I need to change the motherboard?
I think its some of the boards. I tried several bios's and such and with a chip that I know will do atleast 600fsb on my gigabyte will not do anything over 500fsb on the p5q pro. I tried every setting that I could think of and many different ram modules and everytime the same. Would go straight up to 500fsb with minimal volts and then that was it. I could increase voltages thru the rook and it wouldnt boot any higher.
Need help please, i got p5q deluxe....how do i switch off fan check setting once i have watercooled set up ?? Cant find bloody thing lol
It looks like you have 2 stuck sensors. Do a CPU Cool Down Test and post your results here.
I'd say not to worry, stuck sensors are harmless. But annoying. :)
Prepare yourself for a dozen different answers. :)
Any of these KET bios'es for the P5Q-PRO allow for the use of the 400 mem divider?
I downgraded to KET BIOS 1406m and I can finally use the 400 mem strap:up:. Now I can finally OC my PC8500 2x2GB G.Skill ram. Memtested @ 550MHZ DDR1100 so far so good. What the fu*k is wrong with asus's stock bioses for the p5q-pro? This was NOT A POSSIBILITY with a stock asus bios. Thank you KET
I used the 1611 bios from ket but it lowerd my stable oc with 200mhz :( But instead it mad my rams fly:D Max before was about 610-620 but with the modded bios max was 670 :O
Heres a little trick I picked up some P5Q Pro owners at least may find useful. While I was removing the NB/MOSFET cooling solution asus use I noticed 2 little indents on the black foam sticky pad thing put on the NB part of the NB/MOSFET cooler. Evidently it was pushing down on a few resistors, that must of been causing them to get rather hot. Since taking the black pad thing off, cleaning the sticky residue off and setting things back up, things seem to be running much nicer. Haven't fully tested things yet but so far 400FSB 1.1v is no problem, will be pushing further soon.
Nope nothing wrong with removing that. Since removing that black foam pad thing it has indeed helped, I need less voltage for 500FSB and things are much more stable. Current settings I'm running are 7x500, 1200MHz RAM @ 5-5-5-12. I can do 5-4-4-12, but it doesn't help on this P45 like it would on a X48 or AMD system :(
Does anyone else get alot of BSODS while using a P5Q-E? The bios doesnt matter I get random BSODs with TCPIP or other errors.
I don't. I do get odd instability issues though that I cant explain as my CPU and RAM are rock stable @ 3.5GHz 1200MHz respectively. Back to the drawing board :eh:
I suspect its a BIOS code issue. Looking into it
hi evryone
@ket when u rls new mBIOS for P5Q-Deluxe? 1805?
I'm not. Working on other things atm.
Got my EP45 UD3P and managed to get 3.9 / 1105 stable @ 1.28v. Got my RMA for the P5Q-E. First bad Open Box board Newegg has sent me. Oh well, I've bought plenty that were good ones. :)
well it was a great run ket, my old p5q-e is now in my girls computer, running the 1703s and it will stay there until it dies.
i replaced it with a ga-ep45-ud3r and so far i love it, 500x8 rock stable on my q9550. there are alot more options in the bios... but i still feel your mBios and the p5q gave me higher memory clocks.
anyways... thanks for all the time you put into these bios and for helping all the noobs that had no idea how to even flash :P
Hi Ket, when you are doing your BIOS mods are you just replacing the memory sizing Module ID 15 and the P6 Micro Code Module ID 11 using MMTool etc with the ones from the Maximus 2 Formula?
I notice you change the OEM logo Moudule ID 0E, but I assume that is not needed?
Also I noticed that Module ID 80 Image Information is slightly larger on yours than the original BIOS, is this a needed change due to changing the other module?
Is it possible for me to do the exact same thing with P5Q Deluxe BIOS 1805 and Maximus 2 Formula BIOS 1901.
Any tips would be appreciated, I have looked around on many forums including rebelshavenforum and found very little information regarding the memory tables, a tiny bit on the P6 Micro Code and no other mention of anything else I need to change if those 2 are changed.
PM me if needed.
^_^
Ket,
I'm interested in trying to figure out how to do this as well.
I have on numerous occasions installed a new CPU in a board that supports the processor (by researching the chipset) but the MFG fails to keep the microcode updated!
I would love to be able to just drop the new microcode info into the BIOS ;)!
On a related note, would it be possible to modify a BIOS to allow for PC2-6400 (the chipset again supports it), when the MFG limited it to PC2-5300? Sounds crazy. I can do it from Windows, by changing the memory ratio, but it is one less APP to worry about and that much more added stability ;)!
Lastly, my board from ASUS FINALLY arrived yesterday! Assembly today hopefully!
I can confirm that my new board is working great!
I used the Kodakey tool to flash back to 1406, and the EZ Flash to flash over to your 1406 modded BIOS.
So far, I can't tell the difference, but I haven't tried clocking it yet either ;)!
I didn't clock it before, mind you, so there won't be any concrete evidence.
I understand you changed the boot logo (which I have turned off), I'll have to turn it on, just to make sure the flash took! LOL!
Hopefully I can hit 533 on this baby, I'd love to run 1:1 with my RAM, and try to push a 3.4GHz or 3.6GHz overclock!
Sadly, that doesn't look to good, most I think is 3.2GHz (my VID is 1.3250v!! YIKES!!!)...
i just want to say that your bios helped me get my 3.6 ghz OC stable on my p5q pro. I am also following your advice and getting those SB, NB and mosfet sinks. What do you think about my MB temps being 45c as reported by pc probe? it started happening when i switched in a visiontek 4870 over my 4850.
If 45c is your idle temp, a tad warm IMO. Remember you also need a good PSU in any system.
Yeap, mine MB temp is 33c durning LinX test (100% load)
I'll head on over to Rebels haven to learn how to play with BIOSes, thank you, Ket!!
As for my system, it is running 100% at stock, no problems. Currently on 1406 Modded. Unfortunately, any overclocking attempt right now is an epic fail !
My starting point was a jump from 266 to 333 (2.4GHz to 3.0GHz). I know enough from reading that it shouldn't require any added volts to the nb or sb (prolly never to sb for what I want to do), but maybe a little bump in vcore.
To get it to even boot into Vista x64, I had to bump from 1.325 to 1.375, but to get it remotely stable needed 1.400. This allowed me to run occt for about 5 - 10 minutes but several attempts failed.
During my testing I also attempted a bump in nb to 1.2 and 1.3, plus a bump in fsb to 1.52 / 1.54 / 1.56, and a fsb term to 1.22 / 1.24 / 1.26.
I couldn't get it stable, sadly :(.
The entire time I was sure to retain a 1:1 ratio and keep my memory at its rated 1066 5-5-5-15 2.10V.
I think it's my CPU that is causing my grief. I just got a bad one. Sucks but OCing isn't guaranteed, ahh well! My VID on my chip (coretemp) is 1.325V !
Any ideas, guys?
Water mayyybe in the summer, slight chance, but right now it's an:
Antec P160W w/ 2x120MM 79CFM fans
ASUS P5Q Pro
Intel Q6600 G0 1.325V VID
Corsair Domainator PC2-1066 5-5-5-15 2.10V w/ Crossflow Fan
Diamond Radeon HD 4870 1GB
1xWD 320GB OS
2xWD 500GB RAID0 Storage
Termalright Ultra 120 Extreme w/ 2x120MM 56CFM fans
700W OCZ ModStream Pro
Try 1.475v Vcore, with LLC on this will be a actual voltage of about 1.45v under load, see what your CPU can do then. I would also think your CPU is the problem, its rare, but even some G0s are bum clockers.
If I manage to start to creep up to 366 and 400+ what is a safe level for nb / fsb / fsb term?
I've read 1.3 for nb, 1.56 for fsb, and 1.26 for fsb term. If I am correct, most don't have to play with the term volts, they like to stand still, right?
Geez .... I've gotten used to clocking AMDs! I've got my Opty 170 pushed from 2.0GHz to 2.75GHz, and my FX-60 from 2.4GHz to 3.0GHz! It was simple simple!
LOL
NB: 1.3v without a fan, with a fan: 1.44v. Above that you will need a decent NB HS to put a fan on along with some MOSFET heatsinks (Enzotech MST 81s)
SB: 1.2v, 1.3v if you have to. Deffinately no need to go higher than that.
FSB Term: I found on my old P5Q Pro at least (in RMA) anything over 1.3v made things more unstable on my E7200
FSB: As high as you can take it. FSB doesn't push anything on the mobo really, depends on your CPU. I doubt your CPU will reach 500FSB, but 440ish is possible.
Strap setting: 333 (1333MHz)
Remember that beyond a certain point you will need to change your PL setting. PL6 is good for stock, might get you to around 320-400FSB. PL7 will get you to around 450FSB, PL8 500FSB+. These are not set in stone values, but rather average guidelines. Its not uncommon to need PL8 for total stability beyond 400FSB and PL9 for total stability beyond 500FSB. Your OCing will also be limited by how good your RAM is. For example, if your RAM tops out at 800MHz, 400FSB will be your limit on a 333 strap, forget about 400 strap, its crap.
Now thats a very useful post Ket. In behalf of all ppl that will not read this thread completely, and may skip to the very last pages, I thank you.
I'll try some of those suggestions right away!
My P5Q PRO is now stable at FSB500 (3h orthos and 10 intelburntests). vNB 1.2v vFSB 1.2v vSB 1.1v. My problem is that i'm getting a blue screen in GTAIV after a few seconds :/ "The video memory manager has encountered an unexpected fatal error". I've also checked major voltages but no luck :( On my normal settings 445x9 it doesnt happen. Any ideas?
Well, I've got my system running as good as I can get it:
FSB 433
Multi 8x
Strap 333
PL 10
VCORE 1.4750
FSBTERM 1.26
NB 1.3
SB 1.2
PCIE 1.5
So, 3.0GHz at the CPU and 1040MHz at the RAM. Not too bad, ram's rated at 1066 5-5-5-12 (2x2GB Kit), which it's running right now.
2 hours of OCCT testing passed A-OK. Max temp on cores 0/1 reaching 50 degrees C, and max temp on cores 2/3 reaching 40 degrees C. Max temp on NB reaching 40 degrees C. Not too shabby!
I'm happy :D!
I tried for 3.45GHz with the 8x multi, pushed 1.525V VCORE and 1.30V FSB-TERM but couldn't get Vista x64 to boot. Same boat with a 466 FSB at 6/7 multi. I wasn't about to push anymore volts anywhere without liquid. Maybe during the summer I can liquid cool the CPU/NB/SB/GPU, we'll see, cost pending.
Thank You very much for your help there, Ket! I wouldn't be running here without your help!
NP ;) Rather than being over-zelous I give people averages. Odd exceptions of say, where you can run PL7 @ 500+FSB, is just that, a EXCEPTION. By far not everybody will get results like that, and its plain foolishness for anyone to claim just because they can run PL7, everybody can.
I didn't become (as many seem to call me) "The Don" of P45, for no reason :D
I forgot to mention my other settings.

I'm using the 1406 bios. Anything i can do better?
PLL voltage is kinda high, try 1.54 or 1.56v. FSB Term. is a bit high too, try 1.3v. Your Vcore might be a bit low too, increase it to 1.35-1.4v
I will try to give that a shot later tonight perhaps...
I shouldn't have to worry about heat. I'm running the Corsair Dominator's with the CrossFlow fans that come included in the package. Nice setup!
Thx again Ket!
Very informative post Ket. Thanks! :)
I experienced a strange problem last night, I was just changing some settings in my BIOS (one of yours) and it after a save and quit failed to restart. I did the usual reset cmos etc, didn't work. Removed battery for a few minutes, that also didnt work. The pc would turn on but nothing would appear on the screen. Mind you I'm using 1200mhz ram which before your BIOS didn't work in my system. Upon changing the ram back to my original stuff it booted no problems, put 1200mhz ram back in and everythings back to normal. Long winded explanation, I know!
Any ideas about this one Ket? I'll try and replicate it again when I get some time.
Cheers!
Just sounds like the board had a odd fickle moment. Sometimes you get weird things like that
I have the deluxe 1702 BIOS, and no matter what I do, 500fsb wont work. High 490s is fine.
Used up to 1.4vcore (1.365 is fine for 490)
Up to 1.3 VTT
GTL refs to .67 each
PLL at 1.58-1.6
NB up to 1.3
My ram is good up to 1070ish with stock volts and timings, so its not them.
Also, I am having boot issues, even at stock, where it will come on, but wont display an image, untill I restart it a hundred times and randomly get lucky. And I know the 280 is fine, it doesnt artifact at all, and runs in the 50c range idle, high 60s load.
Sounds like you may have a particularly weak SB. My P5Q Pro had random boot problems like that even at stock. Probably RMA time.
Asus P5Q's seem to be hit-or-miss for 500+ fsb. I have a Pro, but it doesn't like 500 either, best I can do is in the low 490's. I had my current E8600, same ram, and everything else in a system with a DFI LP JR P45 and I could run it easily at 518 fsb at an 8.5 multi. But not with the Pro.
However, it is a lot more stable with Ket's 1613M bios now than with the original 1307 it shipped with.
The reason I sold the DFI is that there was an issue with the PCI-E Link Width and my GTX280. The DFI is supposed to be at 8x but mine often would only boot at 4X. There are other reports of this issue happening, with other Nvidia cards as well. Yet ATI's are fine with that board.
At least the Pro is always at 16x:rolleyes:
I dunno, both my Pros done 500FSB, but the one I sent in for RMA a few days ago has always been the weaker board, and it finally started giving up. SO for me at least, I'd say 500FSB isn't hit and miss, but with early rev. P5Q series boards they had teething problems for sure.
Yes, I think if I had a later revision it may do better. I have pondered going back to a DFI but that link width issue has been reported with other versions of their LP P45 boards and Nvidia cards as well, on the DFI Forums.
Not to say I am unhappy with Asus, the P5Q's are very good boards, and it's nice to have socketed bios chips.
As I mentioned I was going to do in a previous post, I swapped out my GSkill ram and put back the Team set, they are working well with the 1613M bios. Also fitted the Enzotech sink on the sb, along with all the other aftermarket heatsinks it's running nice and cool.
GL on OCing further
I haven't been round lately, been busy working and going to school and raising my daughter. I just wanted to pop up and say hello. This thread has grown so much lmao.
I also on a side note have been having issues as of late with my setup for some reason but, I went crossfire with 2 4870 1GB cards. I thought maybe this is just bugginess from the cards / ATI's driver suport. Last night I decided to do a burntest and sure enough instant lock up.
I switched the CME option to optimized and in Vista , boom instant BSOD. I started trying to switch back to either 0806 or 1406 BIOS because I was using this :banana::banana::banana: new one they came out with "1803" and was NEVER ABLE TO GET THAT CHIP TO GO BACK TO 1406.
I tried the asus update with downgrade checked, nope, "it told me the eeprom wasn't compatible?" tried the afudos thingy, nope. Afudos kept telliing me it couldn't read the bios file, I'm guessing it was talking about the 1406 one but, maybe it was talking about the one on that chip:shrug:.
I then finally after trying for a couple of hours "had to look through post to find tools exc" I finally said :banana::banana::banana: it and switched to my backup chip and just flashed it to 1406. Went back into Vista burntested my :banana::banana::banana: and boom issue resolved.
What's up with that ?. I know I could hot flash it but nah. I think I still actually have another BIOS chip sitting some where "I say some where because I just moved". Ahh any way if you feel like chiming in on something I didn't mention here, please do. KET your the man . How's that buisness going?
Business is good :D You may of seen the thread already but in general hardware I made a thread showing people how I got Crapative X-Fi software fully functioning on any Realtek HDA chip, the audio quality difference is staggering! Also, you can use AFUDOS to get out of your situation you were in, but you must DL the version I attached to one of my posts, its the only version that will let you do it  You might want to sniff through my newly uploaded BIOS pack as well, EVERY BIOS that has been released for the P5Q/Pro/E/Deluxe/Premium has been newly updated!
Ok this is what I tried last night
I think you might be right about the me not using the right one part. I will give it a go tonight. I thought in your OP it said reworking uploads link will be back soon or something along those lines. Last night when I was poking around, it said that any way. I will look real quick and see if you have changed that now. I had been having issues for like a month and just never bothered to trouble shoot because it wasn't that bad. My system should be alot smoother now that I have the backup chip on the 1406 version. One thing is for sure, my MB has been kicking longer then any one elses I have seen on here posting. Guess me running my Q9450 @ 3.85GHZ since I got this motherboard hasn't hurt it yet . I will check out that sound card thing you mentioned.
Well, I think I've had plain bad luck with my 2 Pros. First one CPU fan sensor started to die, and the 2nd board I just sent in for RMA had a very weak SB. Got to the stage of sometimes it wouldnt boot even with stock settings
I tend to have good luck with buying the right stuff. You should link to the post you made about using afudos in the OP, it would save some time answering questions about it. Hopefully that link to afudos is still good. I went to grab that modded 0806 last night and the link was dead for it.
If the link was down last night, its fine now.
The link was down for the 0806 that you orginally wrote for me special. Remember, because of the whole CME option that was wreaking havoc on C1 steeping CPUs. Funny thing is that they can't keep their code straight even after solving the issue  Me rolling back to BIOS 1406 has solved all the weird issues I have been having. I am really supprised because this whole time I thought I had a driver issue going on as that is what the logs were even pointing at. :ROTF:
 Asus.
Also I noticed that you don't have the original 0806 in your pack, that was indeed the best one for me besides for the 1406 just like leophold had said as well a couple of pages back.
Can you please tell Me what the Bios after 1406 have that is not working like on 1406?
Tnx
Hi,
I have been using P5Q-E with the mod bios from ket and everything work great.
Will there be a BIOS MOD for the i7 ? I am planning to get the i7 for my gaming system and see if there is any bios mod for the asus board before deciding on the X58 board.
Thanks again for all the bios mod KET.
Have new P5Q bios 2002
first sorry for my bad english

I have a big Problem. I cant get my system stable with manual choosed strap. WTF? But with Auto + Strap 400 Memory divider it is stable but the Memory is too high overclocked, because i have to choose Strap Auto and DDR2 - 1133 (850 would be also possible but it isnt in the list to choose) for stability otherwise prime large error. If I choose Strap 400 + DDR2 - 1133 or 851 = BOOTLOOP ?! WTF ?!Code:BIOS 1406m - Q6600 mit 3400 Mhz

Is that a Bios bug or what? It is so:confused: because 1133 is a Strap 400 divider!
Its also with the original Asus Bios!
For example
Strap 200 - Prime Large Errors (Memtest Error Test 5 after 0.5 min)
Strap 266 - Prime Large Errors (Memtest Error Test 5 after 0.5 min)
Strap 333 - Prime Large Errors (Memtest Error Test 5 after 0.5 min)
Strap 400 - BOOTLOOP Why I can't choos Strap 400 manual ? o0
Strap Auto - !Prime Custom STABLE! but Errors in GoldMemory <-- I cant solve these Problems with Timings or Dram Voltage Any conclusion? Why i have these little Errors? Why i can't get get Strap 333 stable ?!
I also tested all these Settings:
Strap: Auto + DDR2 - 851 --> Memtest Error Test 5 after 0.5 min
Strap: Auto + DDR2 - 1021 --> Memtest Error Test 5 after 0.5 min
Strap: Auto + DDR2 - 1066 --> Memtest Error Test 5 after 0.5 min
Strap: Auto + DDR2 - 1133 --> No Prime Large Error, but 1 GoldMemory Error
Strap: Auto + DDR2 - Auto --> Memtest Error Test 5 after 0.5 min
higher isn't possible
I hope you can help me!

I found out the hard way my self but, I wouldn't use prime with these boards TBH with you. They actually noted that they resolved issues with these boards and prime on the BIOS you are on now. I wouldn't trust them enough to start using it again my self. Use intelburntest you will be happy you did. I like it alot better and when my system was stable and I learned the hard way with prime, intelburntest would pass which is harder on the system then prime any way and prime would fail but, I never had any instability issues at all so prime was the culprit.
To keep it shorter for you, use intelburntest not prime. Other thing to note, turn off the overclock charger. Also turn off the CPU features. When your processor is overclocked you really don't want the system trying to clock down when idle, this could very well be causing your issues but, I am not sure because you didn't post those settings. Another note, figure out what strap you want to use, then ask what PL setting you should be using on this forum post and some one I'm sure will tell you what PL setting to use.
The reasoning behind me saying this is that the straps will mess you up if you have the wrong PL setting for that certain strap you are wanting to use, not set right. I think that should keep you busy and should resolve your issues.
When i disable OC Charger = Bootlopp :(
Maybe it is someting with PL but i also tried higher PL's and it doesn't work :(
What should i do? ... :(
Here are the additional Settings: Maybe C1E but why it work "well" with Auto Strap + DDR2 - 1133 It is so confusig, that i cant use Strap 400 Manual, but at Auto...
