They had better start listening before a lot of people jump ship.

I agree, currently looking at the Giga UD3, not sure yet. Dont want to grab the flavour of the week board if you know what I mean.
Been a loyal Asus customer since my Nforce4/FX-60 days, would recommend Asus to anyone, they offer high end mid priced and budget all back'd buy a solid reputation. Lately however it seems there dragging there arse on support.
Hey guys I just got an E0 Q9550 and I used the settings that SIGfever posted in the other MFII thread and they work for 4.0 but I am trying to get my CPU up to 4.1 maybe 4.2 but I am having a bunch of trouble once I hit about 482 or so no stability does anyone have settings for a Q9550 OC around 4.1 or 4.2?? Any help would be greatly appreciated... I was thinking maybe 522 FSB but I can't seem to get the memory to cooperate...
Bios 1403 has just been re added to Asus site.
I do not have the SATA hang issue that caused it to be pulled before (but not all peeps got this issue).
Quoted :
Description Maximus II Formula 1403 Bios
Fix Intel 45nm Quad Core CPU ustability issue
File Size 889.74 (KBytes) 2008/11/03 update
If they haven't fix the vNB-Vtt=0.11v-0.15v thing...the bios is still a crap.
I have to Cmos my pc every time i open it.
Well given the last asus bios fiasco, and the fact I dont run a quad, and the added fact i have no idea what "ustability" is coupled with the fact I cant get into the asus download section, I'm not going to guinea pig this bios.
LOL, that's what you have 2 Bioses and 2 profiles in each for. ;)
Both of you wont know till you try, correct ?
I see no need to try it really. Plus I can't get in to download section for some reason.
That's your choice man, but I can host it directly from my PC if you like :
http://82.40.108.246/Maximus-II-ASUS-Formula-1403.zip
Some peep on the pulled 1403 got higher FSB on his Quad than with any other previous bios so I hope for same on a Dual 45nm but only bad thing I read about it was that some (not all) peeps got SATA Hang on Certain Ports.
Just tried bios 1403..... getting the hangup on serial port-4 back to 1307
3 drives 1 on port 0 2in raid on port 3&4
I only use SATA1 and when Raid is back up SATA2.
Sounds like that latest bios is still flawed then. They apparently fix one problem, but make a problem at the same time. What is going on with Asus bios engineers at the moment. Don't they even test before release?
I am trying right now but I am not getting any hang ups so far but I just can't get my Q9550 stable to save my life very frustrating!! Bios seems okay but just in the initial stages of testing.....
Okay update I am definitely more stable on the Quad with this bios I am priming right now with lower voltages and a lot of auto settings (PLL) and I have made it much further than 1307 I will post settings in a bit but I haven't checked bandwith so that will be interesting...
The hangup occurs when IDE is set to RAID.
Apparently Asus at least has a clue. 1501 bios is available on the ftp site. I haven't tried it yet so who knows what they will visit upon us this time :).
Gee, cool, before today it was all 900 builds or lower on the FTP for me anyhow.
11/06/2008 01:58PM 889,613 Maximus-II-ASUS-Formula-1501.zip
I can't find this on the ftp link please.... I only get like 501, 604, 117 and some manuals am I looking in the wrong place??
ftp://ftp.asus.com is where I am looking then I go to mb and then Maximus FII but I don't see it...???? Hmmmm
Here it is: ftp://ftp.asus.com.tw/pub/ASUS/mb/so...us_II_Formula/
I tried it - same crap - back to 1307.
If Asus can't do better than this level to complete slop I will look elsewhere for my next board. Shame, they used to be so consistently good.
Okay here are my results First off here is my machine since I don't have it in my sig.. I have Asus MFII 4Gb OCZReaper1066, Q9550, VT4870, bios 1403
Attachment 88552
My settings are identical to SIGfever at 468 except GTL's are on auto and I am running 471 instead of 468 and my Vcore is set to 1.4 but I can do better just a trial run..
My bandwith:
Attachment 88553
Bandwith is booo
You would get on better running a Asus Mobo with non OCZ Memory.
there is a 1501bois out there as well...
ftp://ftp.asus.com.tw/pub/ASUS/mb/so...us_II_Formula/
ooOOoo new bios, I'm like a fat chick on chocolate...all over it.
Wonder whats in store for this one?
none of the links provided are working.....
Can you provide more information on this, I tried my drives on all ports and it still did the port hang on boot up, I also increase FSB on every new bios leaving all volts untouched and did not experience higher FSB or was able to lower a single volt setting.
I don't understand your question lol.
I was reading this thread (AGAIN) last night looking for hints to OC'ing (as I'm normally non Intel Chipsets) and I seen a peep mention he got a higher FSB on his Quad (think it was 65nm) on 1403 than any other Bios, I cant remember the figure but it was 30mhz Higher (Pure Example 430FSB to 460FSB).
I think he did get the long delay for SATA but many peeps did not get it and only on Port 4 (I read this all here).
I have 1 HDD fitted for now, its on SATA1 and in AHCI Mode and I do not get any delay/hang at boot up, I never tried the pulled 1403 though and i still have to try 1501.
you have 1501? can you up it to rapid share or something... the links provided are not working for me.
Here ya go pal...

Are you the one I seen pics of with mad high FSB on next to no voltage on Air ?.

1501 Bios
Port hang is still present..
change drives over to 1/2..3/4..5/6 all hang.
Bandwidth is still the same altho the rig feels snapier/more responsive, altho the doctor has me on some sweet little pills for my back so it could be them
about to test FSB/volts to see if there is any benifit to waiting 2 mins to boot the pc.
No higher FSB or lower volts possible with 1501 and my hardware
Pull ins are still NOT WORKING!!!!
Come on Asus I know you can do it so lets get it done.
well i got the memtest errors sorted now i have another problem
random hard locks mostly when idle
using 400FSB with ram at 1066 using x6 multiplier so its not my CPU
vNB @ 1.41
vFSB @ 1.3
RAM @ 2.1
PL @ 7 & 8
:(
I'm @ 1600FSB QP (400) x 10 = 4GHZ
Memory is 1000mhz (4:4:4:12-2T) 1:1
All Voltages at lowest they go (manually set but same as Auto apart from PLL which is high on Auto and NB @ 1.2v), CPU @ 1.1v (only needed 1.054v on my NF680I).
Pasted all Orthos and MemTest runs (running all day) but now I need try 1501 lol (this was 1403 out today again).
vr6freunde @ FdL managed this:
http://www.abload.de/thumb/52009dzh.jpg
E8600 @ 1.5vcore @ 520 FSB (CPU PLL: 1.50 // vFSB: 1.12 // vNB: 1.14 // vSB: Stock) on water cooling
Impressive..
Nice, wish I could get a Template for a starting point for 500FSB, I crash after a while with what I have tried so far.
I know there is a lot of settings I ain't changed as I don't understand them all yet (coming from AMD then Intel on NF Chipsets).
Any help would be welcome. :)
PLL and NB volts will be key to higher FSB
I have an 8600 @ 555FSB someplace, let me look for it and I'll post it up shortly

OMFG, what is up with Asus, and their shoddy bios dept??? It takes a good 3-4 min to detect 6 harddrives.... Wow, back to 1307......:shakes:
aww another bad BIOS? Grnfinger, did you have a change to mess around with this one yet? i'm currently on Ket's modded BIOS, let me know if i should switch over
changing topics here. i noticed that the OCZ XTC memory cooler can't be used on this mobo because the bottom thumb screw sticks out too much and will interfere with the video card. does anyone else have this problem or know a way around this besides chopping the screw off or moving the video card to the bottom slot?
Hi Guys,
if you wanna use the new BIOS but got that AHCI Problem, here is a work around:
You have to use SATA Ports 1,3,5 or 2,4,6.
Thats it.. or you simply just use the black ports...
would be nice if you can tell us if it works for you :)
Hi gays,
I have just put in this baby in my rig and have some questions. I went from DFI X48 T2R.
ATM I use the white slots for Dimm, is that ok?
What I can see people recommend bios 1307, right?
Does Asus prope and bios read right temps on this board, my cpu temps is way higher than with DFI?
Does this board like NB voltage? I will go for ~4.4-4.5Ghz for 24/7 use....
Of course I come back later with full bios settings when its starting... :)
I moved my raid to the speeding HD ports, works now!
Do I need to install software for the speding HD ports ? did the setup in the bios
THANKS
Quick question, can this board do Quadfire, or does it need to be dual true x16 slots for that to work???
This is the best board arround!
which new BIOS are you guys trying out? should i try out 1501 or 1403?
1501
i just flashed to 1501, but it seems every time i change some kind of setting from default, the new setting would not save to the BIOS and i would get an error saying to press F1 for setup or F2 to load defaults. anyone else having this problem?
i can't flash back to any previous version BIOS either. i'll probably just switch back to the other ROM until there's a solution for this
Is anybody running this board with a quad and 8gigs of memory could you please post your settings??
So, whats all this rack mounted stuff all about then : )
Her's what I use, nothing special Hope it helps:)

Sorry to get a little off topic here, but maybe I am just being anal about this, but does anyone notice when booting up after bios screen then screen goes black it seems to take a while to actually get to windows log on and this is where I am being anal, awhile being 15 seconds or so, or is this just normal? Would there be any setting on the mobo that could speed this up?
Is anyone having sound card issues with this board? I seem to be getting a constant lag and ticking in music and when playing games. What would cause this? I am at a loss to figure it out.. Been doing some searching but not coming up with much...
I am currently runing this setup on my E8400 (stable)
how much changes I have to make to get this to run on the Q9550 cpu when I get
I know the multiplier is 8.5

seem to be having stability problems in XP
my system is rock stable in vista 64
it passed 20 hours prime blend and 20 passes of linpack 64
but when ever i try to run prime on XP 32 the system hard locks within 1-2 hours
is it because its not a fresh install?
i installed it originally with a DFI x48 then installed a striker ii extreme then the maximus ii formula
i plan to do a clean install i just want to get the system stable first
:confused::(
Guacomole, try 445fsb with the same settings
ATM I use this settings but I plan to increase the multiple to hit 4.5GHz. If this is stable I only have to increase Vcore when I change to mult. x8.5 and x9, right?

I'm at 400FSB with lowest possible Chipset Voltages etc but cannot get 500FSB stable (for any length of time) no matter what I try.
Again I know its some setting I'm missing.
I do not understand why I do not have this line bellow :
Ai Overclock Tuner : Manual
OC From CPU Level Up : AUTO <<<<< THIS is missing.
Is it because I have changed another setting or on newer bios ?.
i need some help getting my cpu and ram to work @ 1:1... i know that may be pushing what i have on air, but if someone has a spec (lol) for this mobo that is working on a 1:1 CPU:RAM ratio could you please either post it or pm me to see. im in the midst of converting to 24/7 phase, which im dreading considering how tight everything is packed around the socket on this mobo, if someone knows of someone who is running phase on the m2f then please point me in their direction as well, specs are as follows
e8400
4x1gb corsair dominator ddr21066 5-5-5-15
m2f
hd4870
i also am having a pretty big issue with the sound on this mobo, everything works fine until i install the creative suite... then it fubars it all. anyone had this problem?

After 12h of playing with this mobo...
32m >530 FSB was impossible..
1Μ>584 was impossible
600*8 1M PL 13 was possible..
1 have tested 2 8400's 746A..both of them stopped FSB 585 1M and FSB 530 32M. Maybe i run out of cpu fsb or this mobo is chiquita aprroved..and it not worth's to take place at the 200$ budjet range.I tried several settings..several voltages ...several GTL settings..32M>530=no go.
Next week i will try with other Cpu's..

Hi all!
Saw a strange thing today thayt i had no noticed before. One memory is marked as a PC-8500 and the other one is PC-6400...it is bought as Corsair Dominator TWIN2X8500C5DF 4096MB, DDR2, 2x2GB(KIT), DHX, E.P.P, with FAN,is it motherboard that is f***** up or is there a chance that the PC-6400 modul is mismarked as a PC-8500?Have some other computer i could chek it in but it is a bad time for that now because i had a broken right arm...:(..just wanted to hear what you are thinking..Lars
Have it checked by everest,cpu-id,and mem set 3,5...they all say 1 pc-8500,1 pc-6400
whats the label say on both sticks?
ram can be installed with 1 hand :)
its probably just a glitch but i would install in another computer just to check
Label says PC-8500...but there is this shield on...dominator you know...changed bios to 1501.....no difference...maybe thats why i cant get stable at 8,5x471...will test soon in my q6600....Lars
sh** out of luck....it says same thing in other rig (q6600,Asus P5K)..had those dominators earlier in a my third comp.(E8400@4.05....+Gigabyte EP-35 DS4..thats why i havent noticed it earlier...i run that cpu 9*450)..thought that it was strange, couldnt get stable at 4+ Ghz with my Q9550 ...only at 3,8..its a E0 and its stable at 8,5*450 50 times in Intel Burn Test with vCore 1,3 V.Coretemp is then 72,64,64,64...think i can run this cpu at at least 8,5*500....if the formula ll rampageboard will pass 500...just have to go to store and change the dominators...hope i can find my receipt
(Must been some big misses in factory....CORSAIR...labeling pc-6400 to pc-8500...then sell them in pair like 2*8500...Twinx)
CPUZ ( depending on what version ) has a bug and shows 8500 ram as 6400
If your really concerned talk to yellowbeard or ramguy in the Corsair forums
www.houseofhelp.com, they lurk on the XS corsair thread but not sure how often they respond there.
That's strange Sladden.
1066 MHz RAM is just 800MHz RAM that's rated to run higher. So the programs often read it at 800 MHz RAM.
However, if it's not labelled the same, I'd take some photos and show them to Yellowbeard or the Ramguy, for sure.
Yes...but everest and mem set showed one pc-6400 and one pc-8500...then i find some old crucial ballistiX pc-8500...ran 5 times intel burn test at 8,5X471....just fine...cant imagine the dominators are worse..must be like i suspect..1 is a 6400 and the other 8500...both marked pc-8500 and sold as twinx..well im happy for the 4GHz+ anyway i am at 1.3750 vCore,1,63 pll,1,37825 fsb TermVolt,1,51 NBvoltage Mem oc charger enabled ..all other disabled or auto, will have too see how long im prime95 stable...hope for 24 hours
My Dominators also identified as PC6400 so dont care about it.
Ok...but i do...especially when they cant do 471 Mhz....thats crap...thought they would at least do 500Mhz...have my old crucial ballistiX up in 490x8,5 atm...only 1.3750vCore and 2.2 dram voltage..not bad for a Quad 9550 and 3 years old memorymoduls....sad that they only are 1Gb-modules
471 FSB with a quad puts a lot of stress on your NB.
I wouldn't be so quick to condemn the RAM. What other settings are you running? But I would definitely check out the fact that the sticker says 6400 with Yellowbeard (He has an account here too, so you could PM him)
My Dominators will do 1225MHz all damn day long @ 2.2 volts
You should look at NB volts higher FSB as Jack said will tax the NB harder, depending on what trd setting you have and clock twister you might just need a NB volt increase.
Not a good idea to PM corsair reps, its kinda against the rules.
i currently have my CPU fan connected to a fan controller instead of the mobo, so every time i boot, it says "CPU fan error" which adds an extra 4 sec to booting. is there any way i can disable this detection in the BIOS? if not, is there any way i can put a jumper to connect any of the CPU fan pins on the mobo to trick it into thinking there's a fan there?
heres some link about memory...http://www.corsair.com/_datasheets/T...48-8500C5D.pdf
notice this lines..in data sheet

I can do 534 FSB dual SPI 32M stable, I can also run orthos at that speed.

Perhaps it is your cpu's?
:confused:First I want to say, hi to everybody, because I'm a newbie here :) I have read XSForums from long time, but this is my first post here. I will try to do my best to help members and be good member too :)
I need now some help. I have Maximus 2 Formula (my system is in my signature) and I want to overclock my memory a little bit.
I have TWIN2X2048-8500C5D, what timings and voltage will u suggest for better preformance ? Because this motherboard have a lot of options
Thanks in advance !!
P.S. This Motherboard ROCKS !!!! My CPU is rock stable at 7*500 FSB ! Awesome ! But I think is too much FSB for 24/7 work :)
I dont know my friend..
! have tried several ranges of voltages..
Cpu : max 1.84
Pll :1.53-1.65
VTT: 1.34-1.45
nb: 1.35-1.65
So i did for the CPU gtls..
1 thing i should Mention i that the mobo cant post with the Pcie ex >100 (105-108 for ex) >500 FSB.
Also i had better results with low vtt and gtl on auto.
IMO the bios is in its infancy stages, once Asus gets there act together this board should do rather well.
Dram clock skew doesnt work as well as it should, pull-ins do not work, so in all honesty can you say for sure that GTL's are working correctly?
I tried for days to get 4.0GHz stable with no luck, setting GTL's with positive values and negative values still didnt help, if anything it made matter worse.
GTL's on auto and I had the chip stable in 20 mins. Now the rumor is the next bios release will include further overclocking options...more that wont work I assume
Asus has done a stellar job with the eye candy on this board, now if the could do the same with bios support I think we would have a winner here.
Man, you said "Asus" and "support"..... :ROTF::ROTF::ROTF::ROTF:
What is a safe 24/7 voltage for NB on this board.
I use 1.41V (in bios) and quess that is ok. On my old chipset (x48) up to 1.6V was safe.
ATM this is my settings..

Thank you Grnfinger and zlojack for the tip about houseoffhelp.....got an RMA from Ramguy..np there.....Lars
Yes...did that today...tried Memtest aswell....70 errors in test 7 at only 943MHz(2x471 MHz)....they are suppose to be tested at 1066MHz(2x533)so after that test i got my RMA

Here is a list of ICs used on corsair modules, maybe it's helpful to determine the oc potential of your chips...
Can someone list all bugs and things that are not working properly on the board and can be refered as bios related problems?
