dbl post... whoopps
Are you running WD 640 black with matrix raid?
1. Go to BIOS hit RESET DEFAULT
2. Then setup up everything sata enabled etc..
3. Go to BOOT priority and set your main C raid 0 slice to 1st
4. F10 save (note after reboot need to go back into bios again)
5. Go back into BIOS again and go to BOOT options and your raid 0 will appear set to 1st boot
6.F10 save then boot normal into windows..
Ok you see this for like half a second...

Then this.

I took a picture... since I couldn't manage to read it and scribble it down fast enough.... WTH.
I set everything back to raid in bios... Maybe I'm lost? But it still doesn't show me the drives in the bios.
Do the above they are there... DONOT go into the drive bios... You need to reset the raid in the normal bios above.. Some times after a bad oc I reset cmos, then go into bios and do the above 1-6. For some reason it needs to reset 2 times in bios before the raid 0 is found again..
You are staring at the ocean but you can't see the water :p:
Everything is OK.
Your HDDs are on the Intel ICH10R storage controller.
The first screenshot is from the "ICH10R Firmware".
The second screenshot is the "firmware" of the Marvell SAS Controller on the board.
When you set the Intel ICH10R to RAID Mode the drives are only displayed in the Intel Matrix Storage Manager "firmware" screen during POST.
That's why you cannot see them in the BIOS Menu.
I just told you.
It's normal, that's the way those things are designed to work.
Everything looks fine in your system.
As every add-on SATA-RAID / SAS-RAID Controller, the Intel ICH10R "Matrix Storage" SATA-RAID controller has its own BIOS ( firmware ) and its own configuration menu ( Ctrl + I ).
When the ICH10R is in AHCI or RAID mode the BIOS cannot see the drives because the Intel ICH10R BIOS is taking over ( getting enabled ) and that's where you see and manage your drives.
The Marvell SAS-RAID Controller is a DIFFERENT DEVICE and controls the other ports, the TWO RED PORTS on the bottom of the board ( to the right ).
The second screen during the POST process ( after the Intel Matrix Storage Manager screen ) is the BIOS / configuration menu of the Marvell SAS Controller.
It is normal as well, since you have no devices connected to the red SATA/SAS ports to not display any drives in that screen.
What's your problem with your configuration ?
Yes.
If you want to check your Disks status and to configure/adjust/delete a RAID Array all you have to do is press Ctrl + I to get into the Matrix Storage Manager during POST.
I can't see a question here neither a problem.
What are you trying to do and where are you facing a problem ?
Well since I cleared cmos last night I haven't been able to get back into windows... Since it doesn't boot my raid array even when its set on raid and to all boot priority is set to hard drive. Alas, if I need need to do is get into the Ctrl+I, I'll solve this once I get home from work.
Before it would the drives as matrix volume 0 or whatever. Now nothing at all in bios... and it tries to boot from achi cd rom or some nonsense. Still won't be able to tinker till later this evening. :yepp:'
I'd imagine it's something obvious I must be overlooking.
Press Ctrl + I during the POST process and make sure your RAID array is there and in good shape ( no missing or damaged drives indications ).
Also make sure that there's a yes underneath the "Bootable" option in the main page of the Intel Matrix Storage Manager configuration screen.
If everything's looking good in there, save & exit, get into the motherboard's BIOS and go to the boot configuration options and set the Hard disk as the first boot device, and disable all the rest boot device options.
Go into AHCI/RAID Configuration sub-menu ( on the top of the menu ) and make sure your RAID Array is listed [ shows the name you picked up for your RAID Array in the Intel Matrix Storage Manager configuration menu ] and is located at the top of the list.
Save & exit the BIOS.
If it doesn't boot into Windows, shut down the PC, remove any extra drives ( HDDs and optical drives ) that do not belong to your RAID Array and try booting again.
Well fixed it. I guess I missed a setting.. haha. Good way to stress and overthink all day at work right?
I just got my board. What is this?!

Anyone ordered from ATACOM.com before? I called them today and they said they could ship this board out today if I ordered the board before a certain time, which I did.
However, they sent me a weird email asking for my DL and some other things that didn't really make sense. They did charge my card so hopefully they are shipping it.
Cigarette lighter? :ROTF:
