Nothing but problems with the SATA 6GB on this Board, stick with the Intel controller.
The problem is all my Sats 3 Gb/s ports are used up (1 SSD, 1 blu-ray burner, 4 other HD's - I do a lot of HD video editing).
i have not done RAID nor used the sata 6 controllers on this board,
but its recommended to enable AHCI Mode in Bios
and format the drives before you load windows.
i dont know or remember exactly why, i always did it like that with
scsi controllers to enable raid before loading windows.
Format the drives before installing Windows (or just loading Windows)?
I'm not using the drives in RAID either (yet). I'm not even sure if these 2 SATA 6G port support RAID (there's been conflicting reports on it).
windows has to load special drivers for raid/hot plug.
when you load windows, it loads with its standard driver.
if you dont load the required driver for raid/hot plug, the
regular windows driver will not see raid array, i assume hot plug
also being that hot plug is a server grade function for drive array.
The sata 3 works great for me. Is this a western digital drive? You may take a look at this> http://community.wdc.com/t5/Desktop/...ght/true#M2284
When you say they disappear in windows... Is that from the disk management service? Have you checked to see if they're just showing up uninitialized? You said you're using AHCI mode, did you also try IDE mode?
The sata6g ports DO support raid perfectly. I'm running my two x25-m g2's in raid0 on the sata6g ports with no issues. My OS is on these drives. ~140mb/sec write ~420mb/sec read. I know it's not the peak performance of the drives in raid0, but it's fast enough for me, and way faster than most single ssd's.
Just got my R3E, Features are overwhelming! had quite a bit of fun with the bluetooth overlocking :D
also just realised my gpu is an an 9x slot

I have search high and low (but apparently not the right location) and still cannot find this simple setting. How do you disable EIST?
oh and hi I am new (well I have been lurking for months).
Damn it..
My cpu + mb can do only 212 bclk...
218 - no boot, 217 - no boot to windows, 216 - can do screenshot, but crash at any test (BSOD), 215 - partial stable, but hang on prime, 214 - same, 213 - after 10 minites test also hang up...

They disappear in both Windows explorer, and the DMS. I haven't tried IDE mode. I haven't tried RAID either. The drives are there for a bit, but then disappear. But during boot-up, they both show up initially. I'll try the link that thesaucier provided and see how that goes.

BSViper, what stop code are you getting on the BSOD?
@BSViper:
Try higher PCI-E clock.
From my experience, when going over 200MHz BCLK, PCI-E should be around half of BCLK (while Slow Mode is disabled).
I almost forgot, try raising IOH voltage too. All other voltages look more then enough, except DRAM voltage, set it to 1.6-1.65V just to be sure.
My RIII E will be here Wednesday along with a 980 E, two GTX 580's and I am trying to decide if I should repalce my Dominator 1600 with http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16820145329 Obviously, I could work with my current memory, but I love to upgrade.
