Please post linsk to those forums with major issues of 4870's dying. I've seen on on [H] by GT but he had a BIOS flash. I see no threads on AT, Guru3D, Techpowerup right now on it. Strangely enough, I see GTX280 overheating issues on those forums.Quote:

As others have already shown, the problem is affecting Nvidia as well and the lieklihood is both sides are pushing their cores very hard.

I'm pretty sure NV's heatsinks are cheaper than ATI's. Lots of Alu there. ATI almost always uses copper (I've never seen an ATI Alu heatsink, but I give the benefit of the doubt). But in the end both are useless due to BIOS profiles with slow fan speeds.Quote:

hey guys,
just got my HD4850 a few days ago. still doing some tests but i seriously cannot believe how sucky that cooler is. not only does it cool bad in idle, it doesnt even seem to spin up in 3D mark or anything wich is causing hangs. cant even oc it to 1000MHz memory without having crashes in 3Dmark06.
i am running an E8200 @ 4GHz and i get scores like 12500-ish witch seems way too low.
geuss i have to get another heatsink...another 25€ down the drain.:rolleyes:
