toss them in the freezer
not D9's, they were just some cherry gold's that could do 5-5-5-15 until saturday....figured I'd let them go out with a bang.
put them in the freezer anyway it fixed my promos
nah screw it I'm having fun till they die completely 1265 now mwahaha :ROTF:
just dont kill the phenom like i did lol phenom2+3.5v=dead phenom
How many volts you running at that RAM speed?
just bumped it to 2.25, had 4 errors in memtest at 2.2v
I lied massman, I could squeeze more out of them, massman let me know what the efficiency comes out to, thx, can we figure in the cost of the ram :p:

This UT 790FX is the last DFI board Ill be using with the PhII.
I ain't going to bother with them anymore. Once they were the overclocking name, nowadays about any board can OC.
The water is epic:up: Quad rad and all, 36C at 3.7Ghz/1.55V and 2Ghz NB/1.25V:cool: Think I could have done better with installing but it works, pretty good as well.
I think I have the lead on air now.
4408.38MHz(only 0.16MHz ahead of Lightman); 1.536V, and the "golden" IFX-14 with two akasa fans@2300RPM. :)
http://valid.canardpc.com/show_oc.php?id=514871
The next victim is BenBrown. :D
WTF dude, nice work!
Do you have the IFX-10 installed as well? That thing killed my board, I took it from 15~20C to ~5C but those little heat pads on the back of the motherboard somehow started to lose some sort of oil:confused:
Quite pissed about that, but the IFX-14 back plate is usefull for my EK Supreme block:p:
Thanks for the congrats. :) Same sh*t with IFX-10 on my board. It was installed 15 minutes or something like that and after minor mod on my original backplate that comes with the mobo I threw away the IFX-10 away. I'm pretty sure that IFX-10 was designed for intel mobos and was not fully tested on amd. A lot of friends was trying to convince me that I'll have no problems with the stock mounting kit of the IFX, but I preferred to bet on safety.
Well I figure it's time to get my rig up on the list eventhough I am not yet happy with the OC - I think I can do better !

Try overclocking by bus, not by multiplier. You may achieve better results. Also try with 1.46V+, 1.44 can be not enough for this cpu and 3.8GHz.
Ugh, my board/CPU is epic weird:confused:
Im almost convinced it doesnt like Vdimm, whether it's the CPU or the board, I dont know.
However, running 2.2Ghz NB and 3.7Ghz CPU stable now. PWM's are squeaking as usual:shakes: Funny thing is it looks like temps dropped slightly with higher NB clocks/Volts:confused:
@Ramm - did you increase the CPU-NB voltages (from 1E default) ?
Stable 4h, quit it.
Doing now 3.8Ghz attempt again, I set Vcore up two notches (1.5625, although OCCT reads 1.55 still).
My PSU seems to have a slight ripple on 3.3V, it jumps up and down between 3.28 and 3.3V, OCCT says a 0.49% ripple. Ive seen PSU's suuplying worse than 3.28V, without ripple. Guess it ain't much of a problem:rolleyes:
EDIT Oh lol, 3.8Ghz wasnt stable, G15/G5 lost power and screen went black. Checking whether this is due to a multiplier limitation from the MB or just a wall for this Voltage in general. Instead of 19*200 Im doing 18.5x206. It's kind of weird to test with a possible broken motherboard but well
@Ramm - nice try. Have you tried a newer Beta BIOS ?
Should be able to crack it ;) i was on a cheap cooler when I did it.
http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/...d.php?t=218111
Nope, I heard bad things about it but regarding clocking I heard better things about it:confused:
But tbh, Ive ran 3.8Ghz stable and the next run it doesnt. It's plain stupid:shakes: 3.7Ghz is stable pretty much, but I really cant wait for the Gigabyte 790FX-UD5P to be released, Im so done with this DFI crap:shakes:
What is CPU/NB voltage supposed to be at stock settings? I couldn't find any info on this so I just set it same to vcore @ 1.325v. After looking through this thread somewhat I'm thinking I set it too high and that may be causing issues.
Hmm, so the CPU-NB should be sert lower than vcore right? Lets say the vcore was set to 1.45, should the cpu-nb be set to 1.35?
Another question, what is the most accurate program for temps in Windows 7? OCCT and coretemp show my temps about 5c higher than what Asus PC Probe II shows.
they are independant of each other. there is no set ratio of cpu voltage to cpu-nb voltage. however, you may find that bumping CPU-NB slightly may help with CPU clocks, and vice-versa.
occt shows the same value as coretemp. asus pc probe is monitoring your socket temps. it sounds about right that your socket is ~5 away from core (mine is ~6 away from core). both should be used so you can get an idea of where your temps are. HWMonitor and Everest will show you both.

how's this its on water
any screenies of benches with it 4+ cinebench, wprime, 3d01-06 ? must have been able to at least get a screenshot of it with all 4 cores similar to this.....batch info?
http://members.cox.net/bostonreefer3/allcores.JPG
No multi threaded benches at say 4.1? you should be able to run PI within 100mhz of your validation.....its not that intensive of a bench...4380 should be a breeze...3d should be doable within 300 of max as well as multithreaded.
last 5 of the batch at bottom?
Seems my CPU wasn't limited to 2.4G NB clock ~ I retested the chip with a newer bios (the one I flashed for the LN2 session) and now I can reach this with 1.4v NB Core volt:
http://i154.photobucket.com/albums/s...40/32M3GNB.png
Holy mother of god!
How did you ever manage to get 10s SPi with a PII?
I know enough to say you o'clocked NB but could you help a noob out and break-it down a bit?
I guess what I'm after is, whether or not this is achievable for an average Joe with a good water cooling setup?
And better yet... is it stable or usable?
Hmm, I heard a lot of people complaining about the M3 and M4 boards from Asus, especially regarding the NB multiplier. Let's hope it's indeed the bios which needs updates :).
Hehe ... the 10s need to be added to the other 24 minutes of the 32M run :D.

Thanks boys, I appreciate your confession. :) That's one core, only Core#0. The other cores are not accessible with CPU-Z, so I can't really find out which is my best core, I'm blocked to Core#0. :)

But why so much distrust (i hope this is the correct word :p: my english is not the best :wasntme:) It's no secret everything above ~4.2 is not stable:yepp:
Both really strong chips
Here is an interesting thing I learned last night:
I have two OCs on my P2 that I have done roughly 3-hour prime sessions on: 3.6GHz 1.36v and 3.7GHz 1.39v. Both of these passed the prime with no issues whatsoever.
However, neither of those OCs could play FEAR2 multiplayer for more than an hour. Had to add more volts.
It's interesting that my chip will prime well at lower volts than it's actually "stable". Anyone else have similar results?
right click on the word core and select which core you want
http://img.techpowerup.org/090225/Capture056.jpg
there is core2 on mine. going to try and beat your score its now my goal :p with .2sec running slower all around
Core #3(actually the fourth core) is the best one, but the temps are not low enough for a validation run. I'll try it tonight. :)
Some updates. :)

Ahh so your 4.4 wasn't all 4 cores then? Thats preety much what I was asking radiant as well.......although 1 core validations are sweet they are somewhat frowned upon..unless specified that they are 1 core as they can botch the database up preety bad, thx for letting us know.
Highest 4 core air validation to date.......4444, having an issue with new cpu-z and k10 stat, haven't figured it out yet...etc the big red X
http://valid.canardpc.com:80/show_oc.php?id=515512
4408MHz was with all 4 cores. All the other results are with only 1 core. Are these results not real or?
mine are all on 4 cores just putting it out there and considering i couldnt get any higher on any single core
3200+NB on air anyone :)
http://members.cox.net/bostonreefer3...ncysub68k2.JPG
i should be getting a good phase change soon :D
Ran OCCT for 24 hours one day only and it worked on the 790GP-DS4H pretty well. Mind you, the nb and the vrm runs pretty hot. If it fails its a good thing it fails on you runnin' prime because what if it fails on you on a time when you need it the most...if its meant to fail it will.
whau, nice scores superpi and OC up 4000Mhz :-)
Using AOD i was able to run 4.1Ghz, if you don't touch the vcore it won't change it. I am running it on windows 7 out of the Vista partition, after I registered the .dll files. With increased voltage to the CPU HT (from1.199 to 1.275 and NB core to 1.45) both settings directly unadjustable from the BIOS I was able to drop the FSB and push the multi up, then the FSB up a bit more. All on 1.55vcore. It made it past 10 minutes of OCCT and bumped it up again but it failed at 4.2Ghz at that vcore after a few seconds of OCCT.
highest Nb on air is 2.7ghz I've gotten up to 3.0ghz but I need cpu nb volts up to 1.6 then the cpu idles at 40C. cpu core volts still at 1.35 volts core and Nb 1:1 load only got up two degrees >_> 42C lol, I had to boost all voltages for HT Sb and Nbcore to max for it to boot past 2.8ghz.
this Nb speed seem to make a lot of heat.
for sure heat plays a role in the stabiilty of this chip.. even at idle!
i closed the room (which is small) where the pc is for a while (1-2 hours). heat was on a lil and wasnt cold outside. i saw core spike up to high 40's/low 50's. was very humid in the room. it was frozen when i came back to it (was up for 7 days non stop doing work (cpu/memory stress) on and off.
as an aside, i rebuilt with win2k3 r2 sp2, 32bit. wow what a difference! feels much much better now (xp would get stuffed up and things would slow down), and i reclaim the extra gig of mem which was lost from xp (win server32 does 36bit addressing using pae to get beyond the useable limit).
nice! did you use the g.skill pc8000 shown in your sig for that?!
no

I'm sure there's plenty left. :)
Yes, agreed...Nice run. What water cooling setup you have?
Zeus hit me up via PM.
i am ittching to get a PII, but has anyone used this on the Giga MA790GP-DS4H? any bugs/incompatibilities? also, europe prices are still so expensive, its kinda sad

I wanted to run on a lower multiplier and higher HTT to increase my NB but reached a hardwall and I can't get stable above 289  CPU also refuses stability above 3660mhz no matter which BIOS I try so this is the limits of my chip it seems.
Will update this post with a OCCT screenshot tomorrow.
