You wont get much benefit form WC the IOH (NB), even with 200mhz qpi clock it tops out at ~60°C with passive cooling.

Reading through several of the intel i7 threads I see a lot of folks starting to bench with MUCH higher volts for dimm (1.7, 1.8, 1.9v!) and qpi (1.5, 1.6).
If my memory serves me right - the intel max spec is something like - vdim no higher than 1.65 and qpi no higher than 1.35v?
What are the max safe voltages for vdim and qpi?
Currently at 4.1 (ht on) and 4.3 (ht off) prime stable - keeping vdim at 1.64v and qpi at 1.355v.
I think I could probably go higher if I was to raise vdim and/or qpi?
Your thoughts and wisdom would be appreciated, thanks!
According to intel (bit-tech) article vdimm >1.65v is allowed as long as vdimm with within 0.5v of cpu vtt or what asus termed qpi/pll volts. So if you went by cpu vtt max of 1.35v, then vdimm 1.85v would be safe. But i'm seen some folks throuh max cpu vtt specs of 1.55v ?? so then vdimm of 2.05v would be max. Hopefully, someone clears this up eventually heh

Passed 199 iterations of Linpack 64-bit, definitely good enough for me. There is an error with the latest LinX that makes it stop before completing though so that is why it shows 199/200.
3.8GHz @ 1.264V seems pretty good but 4.0GHz (191x21) is a no go so far. With 1.4V in BIOS (1.320V under load) I get BSOD within a minute or so.

$150 G. SKILL DDR3-1333 = 18 GB/s is pretty good IMO. :)

Personally, I take Intels maximum and apply the rule of +0.1v. Intels max is 1.35v, my max is 1.45v for long term regular use. Really depends on how hostile that cpu's environment is. Cooling is huge of course, but also how much load and what kind of load. If I were to fold on this rig, 100% HT enabled I would definitely stick with Intels max if I had a 3 year window.Quote:

There are people who also say 1.55v VTT, even 1.65v is fine and will not degrade your cpu as long as you keep the 0.5v max between VTT and vdimm. Some people are needing this to get their old ddr3 2v+ kits working at stock.
You need to make up your own mind, or just go with someone else's mind i guess. Personally i don't want to go over 1.45v vcore and 1.45v VTT right now, because i don't need to for the clock i want :yepp:

I tried the 18x CPU Multi Ratio but it would blue screen out of Prime95, so I had to go back. I suppose I'm stuck here until I think of a way to crank something up without crashing. Any ideas?

If you want the processor to last 10-20 years running constantly, then perhaps 1.25V is a good limit. But really there is not going to be danger in raising the voltage above that if you plan on using the processor for its usable life span. Raising the voltage and increasing frequency are going to reduce the life span of the CPU, perhaps significantly, but it is highly unlikely that you will actually be using the CPU by the time it would die anyway.Quote:

Its stable after a few passes of Prime (haven't had time for extended Prime testing) and games fine. Any suggestions for where I should go from here? Maybe just keep cranking the CPU Voltage up while trying to hit 20x200? Can I count on hitting 20x200 (4ghz) on after-market air or would that be pushing my luck???

HT really fills the pipeline and reduces the fps noticable while gaming and running all core on full load.
But i found a easy solution -> reduce boinc to use only 6 threads and assign affinity to cpu 2-7, which leaves cpu 0-1 for games. :D
I even found a tool that let you do this automaticaly. :)

Alright, I've noticed that the max voltages seem to be higher than what people were saying a few weeks ago.
Since theres a lot of confusion would those who have a strong opinion please list the max voltages for QPI (aka UnCore), DRAM, CPU, and PLL please? I'd love to know where I can really push these.
Mine is an #3837A909 HT on, Turbo on.
Stable 200x21 @ 1.3625vCPU & 1.4125vQPI
Ive done hours of gaming, LinX and OCCT so far hasn't locked up yet.
The jump from 190x21 to 200x20 was so huge, I could do 4ghz in below 1.3vCPU.
My max temp I can get is 69-71C when doing LinX, and it idles around 28-30C. This is on water.
Havent tried clocking any higher, might be possible but im worried about the temps.
Should Prime be more stressful than OCCT or LinX?
