'A64Info-beta' ;)
Real quick question.
When overclocking, do yall set the PCI clock synchornization mode to 33.33mhz? I just realized I've had mine on auto the whole time, and have been stuck at a wall at a little above 2.5ghz (278fsb), and my stepping is suppose to be one of the better ones. I've messed around with memory settings, I'm almost positive I can rule it out (OCZ platinum that's underclocked to 180mhz).
nice score!!!
I am not very lucky with my opty 170 CCBBE 0615 EPMW
I am getting only 2740 Mhz from it at 1.41v
I tried 2750 with more volts (up to 1.47v) but fails orthos and pi in a few minutes. I tried before with an AsRock dual sata and now with an Asus A8N32 Sli de luxe and still not able to clock any higher. Temps at full load are around 55C.
I though the chip could reach 2.8 - 3.0 but not luck here :slapass:
I guess my opty doesn't like volts (Tcase by core temp is 59C)
I get my opty on tuesday can't wait :)
I'm tempted to get an opty from Newegg but I'm still weighing out options for how to spend $200.
I think your PWMIC temperature is overly high. Find a fan to blow at it or enhance your internal airflow and see if that helps (by stabilizing) your OC.
Not sure what kind of CPU cooling you are currently using on your 170. If it doesn't respond to higher volts well, it then means only better cooling options will help in your case.
im gettin 3ghz not stable but it was a funny nite*looks 2 dani*
here are sum screens of our runs[opty 170 ccbbe 0615 dpmw]

Hi, PWMIC temp I guess is the core temp???
I have a TT Sonic Tower with a 12cm fan in the middle so decent cooling for the core.
About the case yeah it was running a bit hot so I put yesterday a 12cm fan in the side panel blowing air to the GFX and the mobo so the system will be cooler now but I don't expect any improvement to the core temp as the 52C with orthos was without the left panel.
I guess not all the CCBBE reach speeds close to 3GHZ ;)
I still having to try 1.5v but I am not happy about running the core 24H at that voltage.
Use DFI mobo as your reference: PWMIC location
Well, I finally managed to get some time to tinker around a bit more with my opty 165. It's been going good so far, except for the crappy memory management with the motherboard. I have it up to 2.8ghz now, 311x9, but with my nice OCZ platinum ram only running at 155mhz (2-2-2-5):

I'm thinking it can go higher with it still being at stock voltage so long as I can keep the heat under control (gets up to the high 40c range under load). If anyone's curious, the stepping is CCBBE 0617FPMW, and my mobo is the ASUS A8N-E.
I can't get my Opteron 165 (CCBBE 0615DPMW) stable past 2835mhz on air. I had it running at 2885mhz for a LONG time, and it seemed stable, until I got a couple of blue screens while gaming. So I've since backed down to 2835. I'm not entirely sure what's holding me back.
I have a couple questions too, what does VID stand for? I'm assuming it is the stock vcore for a CPU? TCaseMax and TDP are also new to me... my VID is 1.35, TCaseMax is 57, and TDP is 75. I'm assuming from seeing other screenshots, these aren't very good.
Well, my board can run 350 HTT (or higher, I stopped there), so I'll pretty much never need to worry about that being a limiting factor. The ram is on a divider and I know it's stable. I'm thinking the ole Opty just needs more voltage. Maybe a +.1 in chipset too.
I have the same stepping as you! Got it upp and running today on my DFI Expert, Booted straight into win at 300*9 @ 1,4 running Orthos now. Does your cpu run as hot as mine? Cold by TT Big Typhoon. \\Regards BadNizze

Anyone know how this opty 165 should go?
CCBWE 0536 MPMW
Just picked it up. It's in my DFI nF3 Ultra-D atm, but I will be putting it into my nF4 Ultra-D soon.
Hi Badnizze.
It seems to run a bit warmer than my CCBBE0610 but is cooler as it is running 3060Mhz at the mo on 1.50v
whereas the CCBBE0610 needed 1.568v to do that.
At the mo running F@H on core 1 and F@H GPU the temps are Core 0 52 Deg C and Core 1 54 Deg C.
I have just picked up a DFI SLI-DR Expert so may get another 165 for that as well.
Smiffy
Hmm... a LCB9E 0704 that beats CCBBE 0610, pretty impressive... :D
And I believe that 3060MHz/1.50v is blessed by dual prime? ;)
Hi
Not yet VWS.Just haven't had time in all honesty. It runs FAH on both cores no problem and runs the FAH SMP
client no problem. Will run Prime soon as time allows but as I have picked up a DFI Expert I may pop it in that
to see what it does.
You won't be disappointed with the DFI Expert. It's like OCer's wet-dream come true. I have used it to tweak the impossible (the impossible for other boards.) Be sure to check out Tmod's BIOS Utility CD (free download.) I have had great success with Merlins BIOS mod for my Expert(s). Good luck.
Hi VWS
Many thanks, have just downloaded it.Board seems fine on 2 X 512mb 3200 Ballistix which I didn't think it would like.
Hell of a lot cooler running board than the SLI-DR.Have an Opty 146 in it at the mo.

LOL, I also used my 2x512MB Ballistix kits on one of my Expert. It is proven to hit about 280+MHz (1:1 no divider) on DFI Expert when properly tuned and cooled - the Ballistix heatspreaders can get scorching hot which hinders it's overclockability so you might want to set up a fan blowing on to the pair. I've found that it stabilizes the memory quite effectively.
Always have pointed a fan at the ballistix.Maybe this is why so many sticks die.
Never had any other memory which runs this hot.
Am thinking of getting a Corsair Dominator Air cooler cooler to sit on them.

Hi peeps, here is my overclock, meaning to post on here about 6 months ago, only managed to do so now :)

Don't know how old this is, but I got just the same one from netshop.no yesterday... Don't think I can get 3 GHz, but still the same... 2.8 GHz on 1.35~1.4V ain't bad, but got an issue with my RAM, so I don't seem to get this tweaked out as much as I want to... but then again, I'm running x64, so there can be an issue with oc/os
