Lower cpu clocks? How are the memory and HT clocks? The latter probly wont make any difference though unless you're running quad crossfire or something similar.Quote:

with ht and nb and ram at equal speeds. ht 2 2ghz nb 2ghz ram @ 1066.
so its mystery. higher benchmark scores in xp but slower opening aps and less fps. vista 64 lower benchmarkscores. but much faster at opening aps and more fps.
200 mhz higher in xp. now the benchmarks are close but still higher in XpPro.
i running dual crossfire with 3870's. no i cant see the diff in fps.(way above 30fps) the fps meter shows a diff. though. now the opening of ap speed is very obvious. enough to make a huge difference? Not really. just interesting to see the differences in xp and vista for myself.
I think that might be because xp was optimized mostly for single core cpus and then vista was developed with multi core in mind. I'm probably wrong but that's what I think.
hello.... in amd overdrive what is the tmpin1, 2 and 3?
tmpin1 is for the cpu temp
tmpin2 is for the motherboard
but what is tmpin 3?
I'm guessing the northbridge, but not entirely sure really.

Its nothing important to worry about. If you can't see what it is in the bios, there's no point. I really wish they'd get a new bios out soon...
in other words its a false reading. not used.
yep i tried again in vista 1,2 stick does not make a difference. lowering the ram speed or the ganged unganged didnt make a diff either. 2.9 in vista 64 and 3.1 in xpPro is the max speed i can get stable on my curent air system.Quote:

Guys, I really think that putting a fan on the sb is a good idea. I have the fan from an AMD stock cooler blowing air onto the chipset nb. Temp2 in speedfan dropped from 40C down to about 38C-39C. I put like the mosfet fan from one of their ROG boards on the sb, temp drops to 34C. Should help out alot when you have to use the htt to clock higher. Not sure how it'll affect the max clock of 9850's cause right now my 9600 is in cause it runs at 38C load for 3ghz and 31C idle compared to an extra 5-7C with my 0811 9850 and I think at least 10C compared to my other 9850.
And if anyone really cares at this point, the wierd chipset options for the hypertransport only apply if you have a chip in that uses the HT 1.0 specification, none of it applies to phenoms. I found it in a techpaper on amd's site for writing bioses for phenoms.
got this board on saturday for 99.90 @ frys. BnM only. Seems like asus is dropping this board, so frys is having a crazy clearance on it.
Its a great board once you figure it out. Just got new memory finally. 261htt is now stable on my 9600. The 800mhz mem divider is a must for overclocking, adds a bit to temps but it increases the max stable htt for some reason. Right now I'm letting it crunch, probably try upping it in a little bit.
I don't think that they're dropping support so to speak, I think they'll be coming out with a new edition of it with SB750 on it.

On the other hand, I now have my 9600 doing 11.5x265=3047 @ 1.2875v/1.3v with the nb and ht link both still at 9x. I have a screenie of it doing 264htt stable.

Its just amazing because before the max was only 11.5x262 and 265 was a lucky shot of booting to do benchmarks. Clocking with the memory set to 800mhz unganged works well, but I also have the channel interleave set to Xor of bits 16 and 9 instead of the default 16 and 6 but I dunno if that would affect clocking or not. Here are all the settings I remember...
HTT = 265
CPU Multi = 11.5
NB Multi = 9
HT Link = 9
Processor-CPU Voltage = 1.2875v
Processor-NB Voltage = 1.3v
VDDA Voltage = Auto
Northbridge Core Voltage = 1.3v
Memory Voltage = Auto

Im telling you, at frys right now they only cost 99.90 if you can find them.
The store manager, i know frys workers dont know jack, but i figure they know inventory, told me, they are never getting this board in again. If it breaks within my 30 day return, i cant even return it for a swap, i would have to deal with the ASUS directly, because the board will no longer be available. :\
Okay I am having the biggest headaches right now with my setup:
- Phenom 9850 (heatsink is Thermalright Ultra-120 Extreme)
- M3A32-MVP Deluxe (hence why I'm posting in this thread) (1002 bios)
- OCZ 2x2gb PC2-6400 5-4-4
- Corsair 620W
- Radeon HD3850 (Catalyst 8.5)
- 500gb sata hdd
While running vista ultimate 64 sp1, I keep getting BSOD's once every few hours. They have been STOP errors with 0x00000050, 0x0000001A, 0x00000101, etc. I thought it was caused by faulty ram, so I've swapped the ram, but the problem persists (memtest didn't show any errors). I even RMA'ed the phenom 9850, and they shipped it back to me because they tested it and it was functioning properly. I'm not even overclocking anything yet, and it's giving me all this trouble. The bios settings are pretty much all stock or auto, so maybe something is not right?
Does anyone have any similar situations or have any solutions? This is hair-pulling frustration...
Does the system blue screen under load, at idle, random? What CPU voltage does the BIOS report and also inside Windows using CPU-z or some other app?Quote:

update to 1002 bios aswell if you havent allready. everything else in bios can be left alone.
I normally set everything manually in the bios even if I'm not doing an overclock. Try setting the cpu multi and nb multi the right settings and also the ht link. Then set processor cpu voltage and processor nb voltage to 1.25v. When you boot up, I recommend running cinebench 10 for a quick stability check. If the graphics test is slower than normal, the nb voltage needs a bump. If it freezes, then the cpu needs a bump. If it makes it through fine then try crunching. I've found that best stability comes from using 2x1gb sticks at the 800mhz divider.
