New Memory Tweaker for Intel Chipsets

a new build: CPU-Tweaker 1.2b4

-Enable change Core (FID) and UnCore Multipliers on AMD Phenom CPU.
-Improve Reading frequency.
-Some little change in the interface.

but I am not satisfied with this version, perhaps it's time to add a new window with advanced CPU settings.

Hey, I am trying to get Memset 4.0 to work on my Asus EeePC 1000he. It says the chipset is 945GME but I believe the chipset in the eee is i945GME

Regardless Memset isn't working correctly as every time I change a setting it causes a video crash. I was wondering if you knew if there was a work around.

Any help would be grateful

could you make a registers dump (with cpuz->last table->registers.txt)
and send it at memset@hotmail.fr

Felix, I'm testing it right now. I am able to change just about every value except for CAS# Latency (tCL) which causes an immediate reboot of the system, but it is defiantly a step in the right direction. CPU-z reports tRCD, tRP, tRAS, tRC are all able to be configured by memset.

tCL can't be changed in Windows, so it's working now as it should. :yepp:

Add the Biostar T-Power X58 to the list of Motherboards that supports your CPU-Tweaker. Biostar has sent me a Beta BIOS after I asked them to unlock the TXT Registers, and it works fine. I will try to find how they did it.... Polygon

I already passed your suggestions for unlocking their bios to DFI and Asus. DFI came through - now wait for Asus to do so :)

On new Asus BIOS for R2E (1403 early beta) that unlocks Xeon cpus, CPU-Tweaker is still locked. :(

I added a new window wich allow to change multiplier on Core i7 CPU (this function is available
on all motherboard).
Also it's allow to change Turbo mode, EIST and C1E (not sure it's work for C1E).
First check that EIST is enabled before change multi.

On AMD K10 it's possible to change VID and uncore multi too.

I have tried it with a i7 920 (setting are eist enabled, turbo enabled, C1E disabled, hight performance
in Power option) and it's work fine, can be change 12x to 21x .

Works fine for me on Foxconn Bloodrage GTI.
Intel core i7 920 D0, changed the multi from 21 to 18 and back to 21.

...it's not Intel which lock Configuration Space, it's the bios.
CPU-tweaker work now with GigaByte, DFI, eVGA and Biostar motherboards.
Lord Trident tell me that Foxconn will do the same at next.

I don't understand why they lock it up if there is no specific policy to do so :confused:
Lord Trident is the man of Foxconn :yepp:, hopefully it will be opened up soon for the Bloodrage too :D

okay it works with turbo mode enabled although when 1 core ht enabled only for 22x multi both cpu tweaker and coretemp still report 21x while cpuz and realtemp and turbo tool report 22x multiplier as intended

In R2E they unlocked everything for Xeons, apart multipliers. ;)

I think the P6T community needs to start complaining seriously with Asus in any possible way.

Anyone using a Abit IX38 Quadgt and getting 4.0 to work? on the Abit IX38 review page I saw a screenshot with 3.5 or 3.6 working. I haven't been able to find any of the legacy downloads only 4.0 and it will read the timings but will not let me change them. Thanks if you can help.

is it possible to also have capability to chance bus speed and also to have capability to save OC profiles that can be loaded with key shortcuts?

It will be really cool if this can be done like the neat trick shamino explained using the Eleet with 3D benchmarks.
I thought people are only able to do so using the ECP module, with Extreme CPUs you can bump the multy 1 notch when the CPU bench comes and then bump it back up.

Yeah awesome trick indeed - although it does bring up the question when folks showcased how well their cpus oc' in 3dmark on EVGA C as to the REAL cpu speed

we've actually been talking about LOD like with profiles like this for a long time but i cant write software and i dont know how easy or hard it would be but THAT would be nice to have hahah

Yes, it's enough; also you need a driver (WinRing0 for example) and a system for make some test by yourself.

I'm curious, what is so different on the dual socket 5500 boards that nothing works on them?
CPUZ won't show SPD, SetFSB won't function even though the PLL controller on the board is in the list in SetFSB..
I'm curious as to if anyone knows why as basically it's just a dual X58 setup..

All access must be double, one by socket;
for example, I got 2 address for PCI Configuration space, one for each processor.
It's possible to make it work, but need to add some code in my program.

Probably the same for setFSB, 2 PLL, 2 address.
I am surprised to cpu-z and spd; perhaps an address problem too.

I recently purchased an Intel S5520SC mobo and two Xeon 5570 processors. The S5520SC has no overclocking capabilities, and I was hoping CPU Tweaker might offer some capabilities.

Are there plans to enhance CPU Tweaker to work with dual-CPU mobos?

Rumor has it that Intel will announce a Skulltrail 2 before September, and that it might have some overclocking potential. I'm considering returning my current parts and getting a Skulltrail 2 (as I have not opened the packaging yet), but the longer Intel waits to announce it the harder it will be for me to return the items to the retailer. Has anyone else heard anything about Skulltrail 2?

I'm getting an error asking me to change to the 96ppp before using this software, it doesn't say what to change or anything, so I'm pretty lost on that.

I'm running Windows 7, could that be why?

FELIX, I've started testing Asus P6T6 WS Revolution and seems with 21x turbo multi enabled, CPU Tweaker is SOMETIMES not all the time reporting 0mhz for frequencies. See screenshot below. I've included cpuz 1.51 dump here.

Same problem in my Classified 759.

I also have that problem intermittently on my P6T Dlx. and from time to time the cpu multi will read one higher as well, using 965XE.

I tried to fix it in this version: CPU-Tweaker 1.2
Also I add 2 timings: "B2B CAS delay" and "Idle Cycle limit" on Core i7 CPU.

Let me know if frequency is not correctly read...

I have that problem too. It happens when some small info and tweak tools are running, not sure. But I'm sure that it always happens when Opera 10 is running. :confused: When I close Opera, CPU-Tweaker starts showing speeds.

Just tried final ver 1.2 and it's not working, most of the times. One time it showed wrong bclk of 207.7, when it was 200.

# memset 4.1 beta4 :- Add support for Intel Core i3 & i5 (Clarkdale) CPUs.
Memory Configuration space -mchbar- is exactly the same as P45 chipset
(probably in the IGP include on the same package) this is why I use memset for this CPU.

It seem that PCI configuration space (same as Core i7 Bloomfield) is unlocked on this CPU...

Hi Felix. Memset 4.1B4 has a weird bug. This is how it opens after clicking exe.

- If I set PL in column B and save then reopen it, it defaults back to this.

- When I completely removed all traces of memset and reload it, I still get the same results :shrug:

Well, I have a problem:

DDR2 Memory frequency dosn't work for my two computers, there are only showed as 0.0 MHz!
One computer have 1000 MHz real DDR2 frequency, and hardware configuration is:
- Gigabyte GA-EP35-DS3 (rev. 2.1, BIOS ver. F3)
- Intel E8300 Core 2 Duo 2.83 GHz (overclocked: 3.50 HHz)
- Kingston HyperX KHX8500D2/2G (2x2GB)
Cumputer is overclocked!

Second one working on the 667 MHz DDR2 frequency, configuration is:
- MSI P45 Neo
- Intel E2200 (2.20 GHz)
- Kingston ValueRAM
Computer iz NOT overclocked!

Where is the problem here???


Also, on both computers I can't change "CAS# Latency (tCL)" and "Command Rate (CR)", while
all other timings are configurable from MemTest!?
Why is that happend?

It's little confusing, options are enabled, combobox is working, but can't select anything - so I thought that something was wrong... Maybe it would be nice if that two options will be grayed and disabled (just suggestion)?!

I see some BIOS allow enable or at least showing DIMM interleave aswell as RANK.

I would like to see this, on my output, so I can :banana::banana::banana::banana::banana: if the BIOS not smart enough to enable it.

if rank > 1 on DIMM, show Rank interleave en/dis., if paired DIMMs show DIMM interleave en/dis.

Hi Felix.

I am getting a hard lock when launching Memset 4.1 b4 in XPx86 sp3 and 4.0 would not let me apply changes...

CPU Tweaker 1.2 was also giving me a hard lock but the new beta works fine :)

Are there any OS files / libraries that these programs need to run?

No chance of a dump send because of hard lock.

System in sig.

There are probably some damaged files in my OS lol ;)

Edit: Ah after reading I see there is a bios lock for Asus RIIE that explains the no apply option, but not the hard lock...

I just got the i5 datasheet, and I read that Memory Configuration Unlock
for Core Lynnfield is not in the same register that Core Bloomfield,
so I made the change in this version: CPU-Tweaker 1.3 b2

It is up to the programmer to respect the user interface choices the user has made for their own viewing comfort, not impose what they think is best or most convenient.

If it's a limitation in the software/compiler/library being used to build the application, then it's just bad software/compiler/library - you can always get a better version without this ridiculous limitation and recompile.

Kudos to the group for supporting Felix as if he was being personally "attacked". But realistically, however unfriendly it sounds, however amazing and useful the software is, this is a poor programming limitation that I hope Felix will explore a way to fix in a newer version.

At originaly, it took me to add this limitation du to different windows size I used
for each chipsets (in MemSet, see post #280 in this thread); my compiler (C++-Builder 4.0 pro,
an old version launched in 1999, bought on Ebay) don't allow to manage this problem easily.
Using an other compiler? first a compiler like Visual C++ is too expensive, second I don't have the time
for re-write these software.

Remember that these softs are freeware, I do it by passion, but I have no obligation of result:
if someone can do better, I'd be delighted. :)

However, DPI limitation in CPU-Tweaker is not necessary, I remove it at next; for memset, I can't do nothing.

Yes you're right about this BUT ONLY IF the programmer gets paid to do what he does OR if he SELLS the program to users...
By this way, YES users have demands.....
BUT IF the program is FREEWARE and the programmer updates it on his PRECIOUS free time for us, we DON'T HAVE ANY permission to ask anything....and when we POLITELY ask, it will be some updates for it as for the supporting of new motherboards...

This is the way that HAS to be asked:

"PLEASE FELIX and IF you have some free time and willing, could you change this x thing for us?"

....and NOT the way he attacked the program the above user......
DID HE PAID IT to have DEMANDS from it?....
Why doesn't he go to Microsoft and blame them for the Windows that he DIDN'T EVEN PAY TOO?.... :D

I know this is freeware, done with the goodness of his heart, etc. and thanks for doing it (theoretically, since I haven't been able to use it yet). I wasn't calling him a jerk, I said it was ridiculous to deliberately put in a block to people with failing vision being able to use the software. I have plenty of apps that have minor cosmetic problems at high DPI and I don't complain about that. This app deliberately kept me from using it.

This is a disability issue, I honestly can't read 96 dpi on a 30" display without using really thick glasses that give me a headache. You wouldn't ridicule someone for pointing out the lack of wheelchair ramps, even if the building was a non-profit organization. And maybe I could have been more touchy-feely in my post, but it really hits a nerve for me when I hit this kind of thing because I feel discriminated against vs. all of you teenagers.

Thanks to Felix for saying he will remove this unnecessary restriction.

yes, when Felix was coding Memset originally he put in a DPI restriction so that years later you - and only you - would deliberately NOT be able to use the software :rolleyes: <- that means i slathered that sentence with sarcasm for a humorous effect (just so you don't try to twist that into a purposeful act against you and your disability as well).

by using the term deliberately, you are accusing Felix of a purposefully wrong act...even after he has given you an explanation. that is completely laughable. there is no way he has put the restriction in to "deliberately put in a block to people with failing vision being able to use the software"...that is ignorance at the highest level to believe that.

i hate to break it to you, but the world doesn't revolve around you and your disability and not everything that hinders you due to your disability is a purposeful act against you. it was a limitation of early software versions that just hasn't found to be an issue for anyone else and therefore not removed, pure coincidence, not a purposeful act to prevent you from using the software. so before you demand people to fix things to abide by the "law of WonderSausage" and demanding others to take comments back, you should listen to your own advice and start with taking your comments back.
