HTT should be below or equal to 1000 but most motherboard have no problem running as high as 1200, I tried such HTT and it was stable but no noticeable performance was gained so I just dropped it to 1100. just make sure you don't go well over 1000 like 5X300 = 1500 which is overkill for every mobo...Quote:

Just got this from NewEgg a couple of days ago.
It's running in DFI Lanparty UT NF4 SLI-DR Expert (just bought).
So far I got it running at 2808 (312 x 9) 1.52 V on air.
Both cores prime 8-1/2hrs running two instances under Linux (Mepis 6.0 Live CD).
I'm still bench testing outside of my rig with some crappy ram.
It's waiting to be installed and cooled by my Storm G4, 2x120 Rad and lang pump.
I was dissapointed when I got this stepping but maybe these LCB9E have something going for them.
I can't beleive I could get the FSB up so high on this board.
I've had it stable at 325 x 8 also so there might still be some room left in it.
This board has mad settings and I'm still using the bios it came with.
Have to get it installed and figure out the rest.

Ok, I tried taking out one stick, then the other. Unfortunately it didn't help my overclock. But it's not like it's unstable, I can do 2.50 GHz on stock voltage. I think that's within the range of performance for CCBBE 165s.Quote:

i was ok at lower clocks too, it's just when i started upping the vcore and going above 2.7-2.8 that my ram started flaking out. thats when i discovered my opty didnt play well with my OCZ.Quote:

Try better cooling, though you probably won't get more than 200-300mhz more on air (unless you run something *really* loud to do it).

Got an opty 165 CCBE 0616XPMW in the mail from Newegg today.
Running 623-2 BIOS, seems to be doing fine at stock but im getting firefox crashes. Gonna let Prime go overnight...if that doesn't fail then I'll assume its not my hardware...
EDIT: Good to hear these are doing well...hopefully I will get this firefox thing sorted out. What BIOS are you guys running?

Seems like it's doing well - I'm going to run Orthos overnight tonight, I'm at 2.833/1.425V right now and I've got great (for air) load temps. I still need to test my ram and my cpu independently to figure out what's causing instability above ~312x9 (ram is UCCC g.skill HZ on ddr333 divider). I'll know more after more testing, if I remember right I've run this ram on this motherboard up to ~265 at 3-4-4-8 but I might not have known about the a64 memory divider at that point so that could be false. I'll know more in a few days. I think the bios is limiting things more than anything else, my ABIT an8-ultra doesn't have the options that the DFI people have to really tweak my ram for the best OC.Quote:

ps: I bet your opty 165 LCB9E is like my CABYE opty 148, it needs really good cooling (nice water cooling or waterchilling) but can clock really well. I noticed that with opterons, they seem like they OC well with air but they perform *very* well with water or other cooling. The trick seems to be to keep the core temp down around 50'c or lower under load, then the machine is rock stable.
