Nice run,, I tell ya B3's are still fun and well @ 3.5 perform very good. I cant wait till i grab something like 940/945/950 or...... im gonna see what Feb brings before my next impulse buy. Usually i would of had a 940 already tweaked.
So much New stuff ,,so fast from AMD . I may see if i can tweak the M3A into a M4's , i think i may be on to something but not shure .... I need to read a few more specs then maybe flash time.
The only 3 things i could think that would be buggy is the lan/ Audio/ ACC code i..But wont know until i flash.:wasntme:
I have the new Bios im just contemplating with my beer and Rebooting to Flash:rofl: 3A to 4A
The code is Wrong for it to work on the 3A 100%. So im waiting to see if he can fix and send me another. Suposedly its minor Differances in the two Bioses.
The Lan or Audio code may be making it incompatable to boot after the flash. thinks the lan is hanging the boot . I have another M3A chip with 602 bios so wasnt to afraid to try it.. I dont know if he can get it to work but finger crossed any way.
Will let ya know.
Hello Guys , is M3A79-T DELUXE have a limit on Max Multipler ??
I heard from one of my friend (AMD Fan BTW) at other forum complaint about this
He got a Phenom II x4 940 ES and the max multipler he can set is 20x
Does that happen to Retail version to Phenom II x4 940 or it's just the board BIOS Limit ?
Thank you
Well so far one of the two 801 bioses was able to flash but not boot after flash.
My friend thinks it is a incompatability with the Audio and lan that is used on M3A vs M4A.
If this is the case it will be a no go and will have to wait for updated Bios.
In all ,, Dont try the officail Bios for M4 on M3 (It wont work period.) ,, Even if you unlock it,, then it will hardlock PC after Flash. My friend is trying to figure why it will flash but not boot..
If he gets it to run for me,, ill use it and Post here first..
As for 20x multi ASUS is suppose to have that raised in next Bios Release . Although the M4A is new flagship they will still update M3A for 945/950 and so forth. Both Mobos are AM2+ and the M3A is proven .
Thats the One thing with ASUS is Bioses are slow to be released.
Ill see if Polygon has any info on this as well..
when using the standby of windows, my pc always returns on his own from standby after some minutes?!
does anyone have the same problem?
ok this is wierd I can manually set 1066 in the bios with Auto ram timings....but once I change the timings to 5-5-5-15, then once I load into windows I just freeze....they run fine set on auto timings on mobo M3A79-T with all four dimms
http://img502.imageshack.us/img502/8766/cpuz1066zz3.png
That is weird I've been running 4 dimms at 1066 5-5-5-15 since i got the board with the 4 something bios with a phenom 9850, 9950 and now phenom II 940.
http://img261.imageshack.us/img261/53/1066tc2.jpg
Jaivan: Thanks for the post after seeing your post I was able to figure out what I was doing, I was manually setting the (TRC) to 20, worked in other mobo. TRC now is set on auto and I am able to get 5-5-5-15 now on 4 dimms @1066........Thanks
I'm getting low cmos on boot up, I just changed the battery and I'm still getting.
maybe Power supply is dying now ?
my bios is showing my 3.3 volt is low but it has been for sometime it's been 2.85 for a while but now it's 2.95 and now I'm getting this, cmos low :wth:
I don't think it save my settings either.
it won't boot if I change anything in the bios.
HONDAGUY ,, you try 4-5-4 -4 yet. Unganged ,, Timing is from top to bottom CAS,TCWL,TRCD,TRP:D
DEMONKEVY.....is it the PSU in your sig?
Try to test with another PSU ,, It dosnt have to be a big monster ,but any PSU that shows in this range of Volts (3.22v-3.32v )on the 3.3v would indacate ,,
Your PSU may have Flown south for the winter.
I know that the 12v shows 10v normally with any Bios on My PSU but my 3.3 and other volts are all Normal. Not Low. Im using only a 650watt PSU MAXED.
P.s.
ive had new dead batteries before .
also make shure your CMOS pin is in the Save position not CLEAR. Ive done that many times ( On Accident)with out hurting my Mobo's.:D
I managed to acquire bios 0701 for you:
download
Allows multi up to 35x in BIOS.
enjoy
Well i think i have gone Blind cause i cant find no one that has this board with a x4 940 on AIR and overclocked
Great!
http://pici.se/pictures/kUoNuvYrP.png
Can't test with 35x though.. 920.
Will test ACC ASAP, but first some work to do.
:)
Nice find ,, this is the one i was talking about which should get higher HTT even with B3...
there are many that are on air,,
Hahaaa beet me to it.
I run it on the 800 divider or lower dividers with 1066ram:up: Works very good on 800divder or lower when using high HTT. 1066 mode divider is buggy with low latencies.
Ill post after i test it some more , Along with the Highest HTT i can get with it shortly . It should be identical to 0602 with exception of Multis and higher HTT stability. Those are the main differances so far.
P.S. my experiment with the M4 Bios was a no go. Couldnt get it to boot with out problems. Oh well. Im testing 0701 ATM
my cmos low batter went away, but that's after I dumped my drink in to my computer :/ and it went in to the power supply hit the video card and the physic card. Had to dry it out let is sit (thanks for the low humidity furnace lol) put it back together and 3.3 volts rail shows 3.25 volts now lol.
I ran out of thermal grease so I'm trying my idea of cooking oil it's actually working pretty good too lol ( I will get some new grease)
new bios is nice since I couldn't get 28.5 multiplier for no reason
Oh bummer ,, at least its working...Ive only done that with Beer(partyfoul):D
As far as the 0701 Bios im @ 3.55ghz//2630nb//2630ht ATM...
My keyboard dropped the first time i booted(USBKB) so i did a Clear CMOS Again ,,now everything seems to be OK at same setting i run n the 0602Bios.
Even Low latency on my ram still works..Im still trying to see what the Highest HTT i can run. For now i was making shure my Setting for 24/7 use still work, so thats a plus so far.
Will post back soon with more results.
oh and ACC still works with B3,, i dont have PHII to test with.
Note:
Maybe ACC could be used now on PHII allthough PHII is optimized with out it on M3A79-T?.
http://i168.photobucket.com/albums/u...biosM3A79T.jpg
http://i168.photobucket.com/albums/u...M3A79Tbios.jpg
Some observations from me:
1. ACC is disabled (not even visible in BIOS) with Phenom II, both AM2 and AM3 (hint :D)
2. Somehow max selectable Vcore is 1.45V ?
3. Max htt with Phenom II 940: 320 on air 100% stable, 325 at -50°C
4. Sometimes after OC fail it has to be powered on and off several times before it posts.
We did 5741 MHz with PII 940 with this bios version, so I guess it's pretty good :D The CPU was a dud tho :(
With my 9950BE i still cant break 293HTT,, I believe its my CHip.
The cool part is that i can achieve 100mhz higher NB with higher ram and CPU HTT than the 0602 .
This Bios so much tweaked better than 0602 hands down.
ACC works with B3.
Overall 0602 to 0701:yepp:
0602 ,,,, Max Ram with 2630nb...( this screenines is with 0701 but set same as 602)
http://i168.photobucket.com/albums/u...biosM3A79T.jpg
0701,,,,Wow is all i can say 100+ on my overall NB now that i thought would be impossiable .. even @ 4-4-4-15 timing and slightly higher ram clocks than above....Priceless NB on my B3.
http://i168.photobucket.com/albums/u...B3_3562mhz.jpg
Im seeing too some improvement with the new bios, my last 247 stable was 3.64GHz, now im at 3,75GHz and seems to be stable, as with the old bios it would been crashing all the time :)
nah.......just top notch aircooling:shocked::yepp:

Hmmmm you got me wondering is i can do the same with mine
i have the Zalman 9700 with 7x120mm fans
is this what you got
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16835233023
the HSF you got is an Xigmatec 1284EE will that fit into my case cosmos 1000
any thoughts or suggestion you can give me since were both on AIR
What do all of your CPUs idle at with the STOCK AIR COOLER? Mine idles at 40c at 3.0Ghz. I think it is time finally to get my Coolermaster Hyper 212 mounted because those temps seem way too high. BTW, this is with CPU Tweak Enabled (running cache at full power - extra heat).
not even visible? i still have the acc option in the 0701 bios and itīs still useless.
max vcore is the same as on 0602 for me.
what exactly is "oc fail"? i read about it in the manual, that u donīt need to clear cmos if u got no post after a bad oc. i tried powering on and off a few times and even unplugging the psu from the wall. but i still need to clear cmos everytime i get no post.
Okay, limitations I have found with 920 and M3A79-T Deluxe..
* Multiplier is locked (no suprise).
* NB multiplier is locket (no suprise again).
* Can't set higher VCORE then 1.500 in BIOS, this is with both 0602 and 0701 (this is a suprise).
* Can't change VCORE at all with AOD, the controller simply doesn't exist.
* ACC, while not working anyway, isn't visible in any BIOS version.
You need to DISABLE Vcore Voltage monitoring in the Bios(so you dont get Overvolt warning to allow for more volts
Also use 2.8VDD ... The max Volts for CPU and CPUNB is 1.7v and if you use ACC with B3's you can get up to 1.76v- 1.78v max ,, Mine is set @ 1.7v + 4ACC = 1.74volts under load. Im using a B3 9950. the 920/940 dosnt use ACC so wouldnt try using ACC with a new PHII CPU ATM.
NOTE:
920 or any (locked CPU )means you can only lower the Multi's not raise them,, Since that CPU is Locked. You must Raise the HTT and use lower or Max CPU multi for overclocking. Same goes for the NB:yepp:
AOD ,,i dont use for Overclocking ATM ,, It needs work to be 100% for me to even mess with it otherwise.
"Over Clock using Only the Bios for best results."
P.S. DFI's 790's allow Higher Voltages for Overclocking and are Top Notch for PHII.
gOtVoltage
That one was new. Will try that out!
VDD is at 2.8 already. I know ACC doesn't work with PII, that was what i meant. As I understand it from previous posts people with 940 can see the ACC option in BIOS, but the computer won't boot with it activated. For me it isn't there at all.Quote:

I know I can lower, running @ 13 now for example.. Sorry I wasn't more clear about that.Quote:

This is what I got at the moment:
http://pici.se/thumbs/t_hpFGFLCte.gif
Link is ok, the file should be 1,048,576 bytes.
MD5:

Look here:
ftp://ftp.asus.com.tw/pub/ASUS/mb/so...3A79-T_Deluxe/
Every bios is exactly 1024kB, that's the size of flash rom chip.
As you can see from gotvoltage's comments, it's fine and even better than 0602.
KIK,,
if you still cant get the volts higher ,,Try loading OPtimized defaults,, then do a Clear CMOS. Sometimes when flashing a new Bios you can easily forget to Clear CMOS after Flashing. I had to clear three times in row with some Bioses on Boards before they worked good
Hahaha ,, he got me too when i first downloaded it:ROTF:
LOL, that happens on here quite a bit. I downloaded again and flashed just a sec ago.. gonna play a bit. I found so far that Mem set to auto puts my 1066 ram to 400 with 5-5-5-5 15. And when ACC is turned on auto, not post. I haven't tried manual yet, but most likely same thing.
Just the 940 hooked up on this board, working well.......

Well, my first runs on 0701
250HT 2250NB, just over 17
http://3800z24.info/Phenom/Deneb/XP3...250HT_Pi1M.JPG
I tried a lil diff approach, 245HT and 2940NB, I just can't break 17's :p:
http://3800z24.info/Phenom/Deneb/XP3...5HT_2940NB.JPG
Ok try this for timing...
In Manual timing Mode @ the same Freqency your Ram is at Now,, Adjust Timing Use DTC0 mode only and change as follows.
Using the 800/667/533 or 400 ram divider you can run cas 4 pretty easy in Unganged Mode. Gives me best performance with 2700+ nb on my little B3:D
CAS ,, 4
TCwl ,, 5
Trcd ,, 4
TRP ,, 4
Leave eveything else on Auto even TRC...and yes you must use 4-5-4-4 for it to work , dont set 4-4-4-4 timing.
This will set 4-4-4-15 on any ram up to 1100mhz ..
The little lower Latency may help ya bust 17's,,
Hope it works for ya.
P.S. works on 0602 and 0701 Bios 800 or lower ram divider.
Tried now, no luck.. Just so you know exactly how I mean, I compiled a very professional movie.
:D
http://www.onionen.se/pub/bios_voltage.3gp
Filmed with my cellphone, quality is utterly crap. It's in 3gp-format, should be playable with Quicktime or in VLC.
OK, so I beat 17s finally, but not with mem timings LOL, I tried what you suggested and My ram sucks Poo. Here is my recent attempts. I first was going for 4.2ghz and it would lock up. So I set everything on auto other then the CPU multi. And still 4.2ghz would not boot. So, I tried less voltage. And 4.2ghz went right into windows. I will try higher NB later, wife wants to kick my arse at some Mario Kart Wii.
my best Pi 1M

4.2ghz was validated and Pi 1M

Nice work... Tweaking Phenom is always time consuming and a challenge for that nice Oc.
I get my highest clocks by changing one setting at a time...
charged3800z24, is that with 0701?
What htt voltage are yall on? My 940 wont do 250htt * 15 (3750mhz) at 1.30v but it will do 200*19 (3800) just fine on vcore bump alone..
That is why I like the Phenom, both I and II. I never get bored tweaking them. :yepp: As always I appreciate your input. I am think about getting this ram Here
Yes, this was using the 0701 bios.
heres the highest ht link /nb I could muster......bus speed goes to about 285mhz
http://i271.photobucket.com/albums/j...1/htnb2970.jpg
Hahhaaa thats priceless..
So indeed its the Phenom IICPU that exclusively allows use of Higher HT/NB 5200+ despite the HTT of Mobo.
if my eyes are seeing correct your @ HT2900+ which = 5800+ ht's :D.
actually I was testing with superpi and at 3.9ghz....and increasing ht/nb after a certain point I was actually losing performance.
I was doing that and had some strange results, in both ht nb set the same, results in 3dm06
2ghz ht/nb cpu score 5298
2.2ghz....................5373 running only the cpu bench, but when I ran the whole test 5502:confused:
2.4ghz................... 5469 only cpu test.........about the same running full benchmark
2.6ghz and 2.8ghz.......I saw absolutly no increase in performance .....cpu score was in the 54xx range.
Never did I hit cpu score of 55xx at any other setting than that 2.2ghz run
but lets think about this now.........ddr 2 may not be able to take advantage of the ht/nb speeds above 2400/2600mhz
this scenario reminds me exactly of what happens in 3dm06 when you have a major bottlneck if the cpu is too weak no matter how much you overclock the graphics card your score wont go up.
could this happen between the NB and memory speed?? will ddr3 let ht/nb performance increase. Or am I totally wrong and the problem was the cpu speed not utilizing the ht/nb speeds??
Or could I have just fudged up the whole test:rofl:
lots of questions:shrug:
hows this, 3000HT and 3000NB with wPrime and PI 1M

http://3800z24.info/Phenom/Deneb/XP3...0ht_3000nb.JPG
http://3800z24.info/Phenom/Deneb/XP3...nbwPrime32.JPG
thats awsome the only thing is (im trying to understand why?) that you having higher ht link by (320mhz) and nb (110mhz) tighter timings and higher bus speed doesnt equate to faster.........nm I think its the memory speed.
http://i271.photobucket.com/albums/j...771/wprime.jpg
Is there much of an improvement using Bios 0701 compared to 0601 with clocking PH II?

Hmmm.. I wonder if you Raise the HTT and lower Ram to run on 800divider instead of 1066..
Ive noticed better performance gains with Ganged and 1066mhz speeds using 800divider vs 1066divider. Even My Unganged timing did better this same way(Using 800ram divider instead of 1066 for 1066mhz+)
I has to do with how ASUS coded the Bios for 1066 vs 800.,,
No matter what brand ram i use ,,
THEY ALL DID faster times with 5-5-5-15 on 800divider @ 1066mhz
( Instead of using) 1066divder @ 1066mhz. 5-7-7-20 default for 1066 on this mobo.
So with that in mind ,,You could go for the gusto and try higher HTT with HT3000/NB3000 @ 4gig ,,just use different ram divider if all possiable to obtain 1066mhz ram. Matter of fact even if its lower than 1066mhz it may even allow you to run 4-4-4-15 timing ,,Who knows.
Phenom is definatly fun to tweak ,, different every day:D
Note: Maybe start @ 260htt and what ever it takes for 3000ht/NB while using the 800ram divider = 1040mhz right @ 260htt..I so wish i had i 940 right now lol....
So what's the word on the pcb color?
Are there still balck and brown versions around?
I'm thinking about leaving Intel and go AMD but i'd really like a black PCB.
My DOA one was black, the replacement is brown.
Mine is brown, I was kind of upset when I saw that.
It's not that great looking and sticks out abit in an all black system :(
Still an amazing motherboard though.
So, still a mixed bag, hmmm
Hoping to get a black one then.
Do black ATI based cards exist?
Really? I've never seen a 4870x2 that's black.
I know the 3870x2's were.
I did a quick search, but did not see if you need to do a BIOS update for this board to use a 940BE.
Is this needed? If yes, normal BIOS utility update will work? If no, any other options besides getting a newer board?
Thanks
940 BE should work with 0602 bios. Also, BIOS-based flash utility is perfect if you want to flash to 0701.
well here is my first stable results. I have hit 4.2ghz with 1.5v valid and Super PI 1M ran. that was all I did @ 4.2.
Edit: I forgot the link to my stable results LOL... click on "here"
cdnbum88, remember 0701 is a beta BIOS, it was made available here with absolutely no warranty and you use it on your own risk.
Thus your board cannot come back from RMA with 0701 flashed.
But it works perfectly fine, for some even better than 0602.
I'm loving this 0701 bios. Getting better reference speed OCs while using less voltage on my 9850
where can i get this BIOS??? right now my 940 wont overclock for crap. i cant do ANYTHING w/o the board either not posting, or windows failing to even get to the scrolling status screen
Hellow guys
I recieved the mobo long time ago and installed it too but I didn't tweak anything, and yesterday I upgraded the CPU to Phenom II 940 BE... when I went to change the RAM timing I found every thing complicated for me as there's some technical things I just saw it now and I don't know anything about them
my RAM is Corsair DDR2-800 5-5-5-12 1T, but this is the default, it can be 4-4-4-18 2T @ 2.1v and I have to set these manually, I did this already tens of times on my older mobo M2N32-SLI Deluxe WiFi, but M3A79-T Deluxe include a lot of details that I just saw now
currently, I know I have to set timing as follow
CAS = 4
Trcd = 4
Trp = 4
Tras = 18
ofcourse this is after setting 2T and upping the voltage to 2.1v...
but there's other settings I don't know like tRFC(x) which is valued with (ns) so it's just timing also but in nano-seconds which I don't know too what !!
and what about Primary and Secondary ( DCT0 & DCT1 )
and all other things that can be set already like tWR but I know nothing about them !!
BIOS 0701 is available here.
