I did a short LinX run with my E8400@450 4,50 2x1 ram@1080 555 15 tRD 9 Turbo, XP SP2 32bit and it worked just fine. :up:

I did run a Arctic Cooling Freezer 7 Pro (PWM control) in that test and I most say that I was impressed by its performance, have to see if it can hold of my E8400 with 4Gb or 8Gb, I doubt it, it had 75C :eek: with 2Gb, think I have to put my watercooling back on.

If you looked at my sig, I have 2x2gb Gskill PI PC28800's. Hoss, also had 2x2gb OCZ 1066 RAM and had the same exact issue. Using less then 1.34MCH fixed our problem, bios F7/F8 and F9B, revision 1.1 board. We also both have Q9650's, so if your dual core chip causes it to not be able to boot over 1.26MCh then I am not sure what you can do, sorry:shakes:

whats the best 2 gig set for this mobo

I have countless sets of ram for this mobo.most i can get is 1100mhz@ 5 5 5 15 - i am looking for the ultimate 2 gig set that will further embellish this great motherboard, a set that will hit 1200+ and also achieve tight timings at high speeds.
any suggestions would be great,still looking,i should be able to get another set if i sell my adata 8500 & crucial tracers 8500 - think i will keep my g.skill but would love a great 2 gig set.thanks in advance for any help provided

the best 2x2GB set that hits 1200 and beyond is the g.skill 9600's but they will cost you.newegg has them at 269$

Yup, on cold boot it happens to me sometimes when running at 538 x 8 on my e8400 & ud3r with F7 (and F6a). It's annoying. Only away around it is to boot at a lower FSB (500) and OC within the OS. Tried various ref voltages, cpu term, vvt, etc without any luck. Changed memory (2x2GB Mushkin Redline) as well. S3 doesn't work either since F4 (i think). Bah, it's no big deal - once I OC in windows, it's still rock stable at 4.3 GHz.

I didn't have any issues with F7. Or F4. F8 was horrible. Constant freezing. The F9a and F9b are great. The F9a has a new RAID BIOS (not sure why it was downgraded in the F9b). If I had to recommend one it would be the F9a. It has been the most stable and overclocks the best and the RAID BIOS boots much faster.

The weird thing in my situation is that i'm not even overclocking only thing i've changed in the bios is setting it to raid, but it only happens with the latest bios F7 (while the flashing process succeeded succesfully).

I am still :brick::brick: trying to get this q9650 stable at higher overclocks. Are most of you guys with this CPU using LLC? I am able to get it stable with LLC enabled but have been trying to not use it.

Enabled LLC and priming at 4.2ghz, seems good so far. 1.35v though, a bit high for these clocks. Don't mind pushing more into it but reaching the limits on the temps.

i don't think is the cpu, cause its a great one, i think it's the motherboard which is rev. 1.0 and that's why i guess i can go only as high as 1.26v on the 333 latch. Youre ram is better than mine and maybe they are more stable with less mch volts.
Anyway some problems still are with this motherboard , why making available mch volts up to 1.6+ when u can use a max of 1.34 or 1.26 in my case. There must be some issues causing this loops after passing a certain mch lvl .

The strap is broken. About 5 to 10 pages back there was some discussion about this. Jor thinks that Gigabyte will never fix it because it would just cause a different strap to be broken. In the beginning I had the same issue and you do but it was 434FSB instead of 435. You can boot at 434 and then use ET6 to adjust the FSB if you wish, it works that way.

I have notice that sometimes when the gap between CPU Term and MCH Core are bigger the ~0,15v I can´t boot and if I bring down the gap it´s okey.

Strange thing, anyone have any comment on that one. :shrug:

i've ran memtest overnight with these settings (471% complete or something) without errors, but im running into problems with prime small fft's. is it safe to assume that not having enough vcore would cause it to crash fairly quickly? because i started with 1.3875, ran prime small fft for two hours before a crash. bumped up to 1.4, ran again but crashed at the same spot @ two hours. bumped one more notch to 1.40625, and again, crash at two hours. since i was running small fft's it cant be the mch/ram thats failing, correct? i mean, it passed memtest overnight.

what do you think? im going to bump the Vtt and cpu ref each one notch and test again.

previously, i was 10 hours prime blend stable with 480*9 w/ 1.3875vcore bios @ those same settings.

You are pushing to much MCH, your VTT might be a notch or so too high. My guess is that your failing prime because of the VCORE. Also, I have heard that the 2.0D(400mhz) latch is much better then the 2.0B(333). I am running the 476FSB at 1.30VTT/1.30MCH, Hoss runs 482 with 1.28VTT/1.30MCH. Try getting rid of those auto voltages too, I put what I think you should try in bold.

Edit: I just want to add, that I had the exact same issue with Prime crashing after two hours exactly. With the blend it was crashing at the 16k-20K section everytime. I reluctantly had to raise my vcore. I can actually run 9x473FSB at 3 notches lower vcore then I am at right now, with my chip going over 9x473FSB starts the vcore on a huge upwards tumble. 9x480-485FSB might be your sweetspot.

I'd say 333 strap. On an unrelated note, it seems the UD3P by default uses very loose subtimings on the RAM to achieve the high clocks...

They should both OC the same. The rev1.0 does seem to be less quirky, that may be CPU related and not the board. The NB on the 1.1 hardly gets warm to the touch which makes me wonder if it is making good contact. This 1.0 NB gets very warm without a fan on it. The 1.1 NB HS is turned upside down.

just wanted to ask if anyone has managed to go 500 fsb+ with an e8600 as i am struggling to get past 440, thank god i have 10x multiplier but i have seen go beyong 500+
would be interested to know what your settings in the bios are,appreciate any help with this.

Yep..I have the e8600 with OCZ Reaper..Trick was to use 200FSB..Volt was 3.0

Hi, recently I've just purchased the EP45-UD3R along with a Q9950. I was looking through the bios and the memory settings are really confusing to me. Can someone explain the memory dividers to me please.

Hey, this doesn't have to do with overclocking:

If I want to raid, what would be better to use on this mobo? The Gigabite sata connectors (purple) or the south bridge sata connectors (orange)?

Does anybody know the difference between these two types of sata ports?
