+VMCH and plus all kinda reference voltages' must be in a good balance.
for the life of me i just cannot get this stable. i get either a bluescreen or a failure of prime/occt about 5-10min in. im using Jor3lBR's template for 4.41ghz
the only things i changed are i set the ram to 1:1 (333mhz strap 2.0 multi) and DRAM voltage to 2.1. the driving strength profiles, channel a & b, should i set those to 1066? i've even gone a notch or two higher Vcore, giving me 1.392 windows and still no go. grrr.... its odd because, i boot into windows in under 30sec, just like i do now @ stable sig settings, everything seems smooth and groovy. i dont know how to tell if i need more vcore or if its the mch/cpu ref values that need tweaking.Code:Q9650 489 X 9 4401MHz

Not really, if you get a good balance between the reference voltages you can run almost as low as the Asus series : eg for 580FSB/DDR3 action I need 1.36NB, on the Asus I needed 1.33 set in bios ( 1.34 in reality) Many users push high FSB and NB volts here due to the fact that the reference voltages aren't balanced. I alos got a DDR2 version now and it's way easier to setup than the DDR3 one I got. These boards are fab, but needs some tinkering to get it soaring ( and there seems to be some variation in the biosses between the different versions )
good evening lads
got my hands on an e8600 today, currently got it at 4 gig 10 x 400 @1.28vcore idling at 34/48 under load.i have tested it under orthos for an hour and its stable,
i use cpu-z and it always shows that my multiplier is x6 but this is not true, should show x10 - also the program will not show what mhz the ram is running at,shows timings only,
i downloaded the last cpu-z 1.50 and the same with that.even realtemp show x6 and occt also shows x6 , am i missing something here.like a performance saving setting, lol,
any advice would be much appreciated or tips on futher overclocks as i think this has a lot more to give.24/7 i am after.
i also bought the new akasa nero 1366 cpu cooler,it is massive and quite fiddly to get all the springs to lock, and getting the fan attached with the rubber bits is scary, you have to pull so hard you think the rubber is going to snap.
its running max 1680 rpm and its whisper quiet so i am pleased despite the hard work getting it on,dont want to mess around with that again if i can help it,next thing will be to source some ram which we let me go further.want to get at least 1250mhz but dont think the ram is up to it.
any suggestion or advice on any of the things i have talked about will be great to know, take it easy lads.

Try running memtest #5 and #7 for a while. That will tell you if its your ram/mch problem. If that works ok then run prime small fft for a while. If that fails then its a Vcore/Vfsb vtt problem. See what is breaking down before you change anything. If it fails prime blend then it could be anything:shrug:
This board is amazing.
I was upgrading my wife's PC and I bought a UD3R.
I used to have a DFI DK P45 T2RS for my E8600. Good for benching, but this Giga is awsome for 24/7.
After seeing the results for her PC, I bought a second board for me...

I set alpha timings to be like the ones from my D9 kits...
This week end I will install the second UD3 under my E8600 (batch Q822A435), and will see what happens.
By the way, I spent lot of time reading and getting very usefull informations from this thread, and that made the approach to this new MB very easy.
So, thanks to all of you.
Based on that review I made a little block to measure the voltages safely (should come with something like this from the manufacturer )

Can somebody post recommended bios setting for stock (2.4ghz), 2.8 ghz and 3.0ghz?
Here is my stock BIOS setting, I always get a BSOD or lag during games, Easy tune 6 won't run.

i have no idea what the reviewer said in there as i have not read the page yet, however, in my opinion based on my experience at using a couple of asus P5Q-D boards, gigabyte P45 UD3's uses less NB voltage at the same CPU and RAM overclocks and with similar system ram configuration.
also my P5Q-D boards were not good boards at all, most of the release BIOS sucked and caused numerous problems in the past, the P5Q-D board looks good with dark colour pcb and the 16 phase component layouts but that's all i used to like about them, but after a while of using the boards i get rid of them, so i can only recommend you to get gigabyte UD3's (either UD3R or UD3P) board. i think asus have made 965P and P35 based boards a lot better than they produces P45.
anyway, you may want to read around first (before you decide which board you like to use) as this threads have covered a lot of things on UD3's boards.
My Q6600 runs fine at defaults. As a matter of fact I can go all the way to 3.6 with everything on auto (which I don't do, but tried for testing). You might want to run your RAM at defaults to see what it does. You also might want to get your hands on the F9a (beta) BIOS. Mine would freeze at any setting with the official F8, but has no problems with the F9a.
one thing you guys can try that works for me is dont set strap (leave on auto) like this.

Hey guys, I need some help here. I'm on my second UD3P v1.1 and the PLL voltage is not correct on this board either. Set it to 1.5v-1.57v or laeve it on auto and I get 1.63v-1.66v under load.
If any of you guys own a multimeter or have access to one can you please check your PLL voltage under load so we can figure out if this is just an isolated case or if there is really something to be concerned about.
The absolute maximum rated PLL voltage according to intel data sheet is 1.57v.
May be this is the info for some one who compare this board with P5Q serie. I just got P5Q Deluxe buy the second hand in my country for a while and I can got 550x8 stable very easywith a simple setting in BIOS,but every thing need more Volt than UD3P for sure.!!I don't want to complain my UD3P may be It's not match with my E8600 I try to hit with the high fsb and no luck . Just let you know I 'll back with UD3P later after I got some Quadcore and new ram to this board. I plan to have a new Rig soon.:)
Now I'm happy with my expected FSB setting.
DFi LP DK P45 T2RS + Q9650 = 4883 MHz/Dice
GA EP45T UD3P + Q9650 = 4750 MHz/Air XIGMA Achilles
That's nice :)

The q9650 I have runs very warm even at stock vid 1.2125v, idle 38c to 40c mid 50's loaded out small fft's. Have tried 3 different HS's a TT120 first then 2 different Ultra120 Extremes, ordered a couple Scythe 133cfm. fans with the same basic results. The 120 does help when loaded out, better than the TT120. Also put the same chip in the other case on a different ud3p with similar temps, even tried a different PSU. I am still shooting for 4.25ghz for 24/7 use. My question is if I am able to get the fsb I need but with a lower multi, is it just a matter of vcore at that point to get it stable with a higher multi? Should I then leave the reference voltages alone? I know the memory is good where it is, so running small fft's trying to get the cpu stable at 473fsb. Will run Prime blend for a final test. At 4.25 ITB would  at my temps so that probably isn't an option.
Thanks
