I bought a new PC for my GF's family and I can't for the life of me get this damn PC stable even at stock speed...
The system consists of:
P5Q Deluxe
Q6600
G.Skill 4GB PC2-8000
HD4870
etc
I have been trying everything, but I mean everything: Running everything at stock, setting manually the right specs for the memory, upgrading BIOS 605 to 803, and the list goes on and on...
I have selected lower memory specs, auto timings, manual timings, auto CPU voltage, manual CPU voltage up to 1,4V for stock speed, upping the memory voltage up to 2,10V, changing the PLL voltage, changing the PCI Express speed from 100 to 110, disabling any spread spectrum, enabling loadline calibration, loosing the board's timing, leaving everything at auto...
EVERY THING GIVES ME ERRORS WITH PRIME95 WITHIN THE FIRST MINUTE
I'm really desperate; did I receive the worst CPU Intel has ever made in its whole history or is it my board that is a total POS?
I have finished a similar build with a P5K Premium a few months ago and I have had none of these issues...
I seek some help or I will RMA the board and CPU!
EDIT: I gotta add that 60% of the time, when I change a setting in the BIOS, the board will not even boot and gives me a Overclocking failed on the 2nd attemp even though everything is set at auto...
My CPU has a VID of 1,325V and is running at 1,32V at stock speed...
