the turbo clock feature is also disabled. even now it's still downclocking to 800mhz with my 4ghz 24/7 OC setting. weird..

try the F8F bios
using it and it does not downclock
also theres no F8G on the giga website
they ha a F8H but the links are dead
cheers
but some how the voltage on the CPU sometimes goes craisy keeps raising and coming down until it freezes
this on F8F
oops
does any one downloaded the F8H bios ?
giga site the links are dead
Maybe if you ask Gigabyte, you'll get F8H. They sent me the F8G BIOS.
Hey guys did u tried Ctrl + F1 while in F8H? they said there is a CPU control option.
for what ive been testing this F8H is the most stable bios
it only bumps the defalt vcore to 1.475 put i can run the 1090T at 4.125mhz at 1.350 just need to lower the voltage now becouse the default vcore is higher
this bios does have some problems including the f8G that show the cores downcloking in CPUZ only F8F show cores at allways the speed of the OC in CPUZ but for me F8F was crasy had to enter all the times in the bios config and save setings becouse it never aplies them in the 1º boot and vcores some how allways at 1.600 , but the problem in this 2 bios F8G and F8H is CPUZ related becouse the cores are at the oc speed all other programs show the all 6 cores at the same speed whith AMD coo and quiet off and core turbo off ive test it with 1.52 cpuz and shows the cores at same speed only the latest 1.54 cpuz version was some quind off flutoations
cheers
Yea, after a frustrating night with f8f I went back to f8h. f8f didn't want to play nice with my RAM at all. Vcore got bumped very high after a crash, so anyone running f8f be careful. f8g/h doesn't seem to suffer from that, nor dodgy ram clocks.
i have receved a msg from gigabyte becouse when a while ago i could not download the F8H from there site from some reason , heres a response :
Attach is BIOS for supporting 6 cores CPU. You should be able to update it and try again later. After bios updating, please do not forget to load BIOS fail-safe default setting and please also do not try to overclock your system at this moment.
For more information about BIOS upgrading, please click HERE.
Regards,
GIGABYTE TECHNOLOGY
so it means that there will be another bios from what i think
better then this one
after few tests and iam still testing my cpu works a 4125mhz 1.300v / NB 3000mhz @1.160V / CPU/NB@+225 /HT 4500mhz
heres gos few tests whith diferent mem specs and ht lower and higher
also starting to test the CPU at 4500mhz and its stable at 1425v whith the other seting i stated above

still doing tests
for the best 24/7 setup
Six cores at 4.5ghz with 1.4v, on air? wow man, great chip! Need some stability tests though :)
What bios was this on?
MD, nice! great combo of thuban and D14.
I wonder how it looks between d14 and memory modules on the gigabyte mobo regarding space? I'd like see photos how much distance is between them. Especially at height if d14 runs triple fans :p:

this modules still have that like shark teeth and still fit
no doubt about it, F8h bios is flaky at best, i set it to 14x save and exit, and it sometimes boots up at 14.5.
Even with cool and quiet disabled, its odd, sometimes doesnt move from low settings under load.

I haven't had any big big issues with the 1090t on this board, but i haven't had a lot of time to test yet either. I hit 4Ghz easy on air. i did notice it seems core throttling is alway sthere even with turbo off and CnQ off.
ive been using the F8H for a while now. so this is the most stable bios ive used. no probs so far with 1090T

prime tested for 8 hours. (although the screenshot only shows 3 hours) f
yes its the most stable but its far from being at least 90%
and any one nows if giga will be puting up another bios F8 ? final not beta
still waiting for a better BIOS for my UD4P.
will GA-MA790FX-UDP5 be able to unlock extra cores on new Zosma chips?
x2 5000 ? are you kidding me? Thats nothing to be unlocked on it.
I've successfully unlocked 1x 550 C3, 2x 555 C3 on it using F8C bios (all all of them stable x4 3.7Ghz+), w/ only 1x 555 not unlockable that failed to boot into windows, but the board did unlock it also.
yes. not the athlon x2 5000+ but the athlon x2 5000. I've successfully unlocked 3 of them already. they're named Phenom FX 5000 with cpu-z. clocked at 2.2ghz with 8mb cache and for only 55$. it outperforms the athlon II x4 620 and is also a good overclocker :)
http://img3.ak.crunchyroll.com/i/spi...37630_full.png
i was not able to save a cpu-z screenshot (i've sold mine already) but i was able to save a 3dmark06 benchmark
I've got the D14 on this board and it clears Ripjaws with not much room to spare. Don't want to go any taller though.
I need to e-mail Noctua with pics so I can get the bracket to turn the D14 90*. I'm pretty sure when turned it will only cover the first two slots and leave the outer two open for taller dimms.
mastrdrver and MD, thanks! it will fit nicely with 4x gskill eco which use simple heatspreaders.. though im gonna use 60mm to blow from one side of memory modules.
if one got Corsair GTX, mastdrver solution looks good!
whats highest HTT you got on MA790FXT-UD5P?
i wanna try play htt with mobo.. just now im using F3L, it was not soo good as I thought.. maybe mem issue,.well..I try test again
my highest htt from bios is 317, from program in windows - 327 (super pi 32m stable) with bios F5 or F8c (i forgot which).
running now 1055T @ 300HTT 3000mhz nb
still need better memory support bios, I can go 1800mhz using 8x Dram divider or 5,33x (then HTT limits me) but thats impossible w/ 6,66x divider I cant even pass 1700mhz w/ mine Dominator Gts...
Cnq always on , and highest then 14x multi is not possible.
using F8H

Bugs:
-------------------------
CPU Clock Ratio:
can be set to x16.5(Core Boost Performance multi) even when the multi on the 1055T is locked at a maximum of 14.
when set to 16.5 it will be ignored and silently set to 14 without reseting the value in bios. maximum should be x14.
NB multiplier:
randomly changes to x10 when manually set to a x7 or x8.
x6 and x9 work fine.
ACC:
only 4 cores can be adjusted /are displayed
Core Performance Boost (CPB):
- when disabled the default Vcore is set to 1.350v
- when enabled the default Vcore is set to 1.475v
this can lead to some confusion when the Vcore is changed manually and the Core performance boost is then disabled or enabled.
maybe this can be seperated as well like the CPU multi?
example:
http://i45.tinypic.com/14c5eo5.jpg
RAM:
Refresh Cycle Time: when set manually the value is set to a higher one, 90ns->110ns; 110ns->300ns; 160ns->300ns;
RAM:
here starts the real fun when trying to set anything manually....
my ram is rated 1600mz@1.65v@7-7-7-24-2T, it passes memtest+ 4.0 without errors,
but the OS crashes almost immediately and i had to reduce the frequency to 800mhz
and raised the Vdimm to 1.7v and the CR to 1T to get it anywhere near stable.
loser timings will make the ram even more unstable so it seams it behaves exactly like its not supposed to...
also i did some test to get higher freq stable but i would need insanely high voltage on the ram (like 1.85-1.9v)
to reach 1333mhz and even than it produces erros when tested in the OS (windows7 64bit, xubuntu 10.04 64bit)....
-------------------------
Fixed/Improved:
-------------------------
CPU core control:
all cores available
Cool&Quiet / Core Performance Boost(CPB):
- C&Q "enabled" / CPB "disabled" --> fixed
- C&Q "disabled" / CPB "disabled" --> fixed
- C&Q "disabled" / CPB "enabled" --> fixed
Vcore:
seems to be very stable now when CPB is enabled, used to jump araound all the time before.
RAM:
exact ram frequency is now shown when booting and not the value thats calculated from FSBxRam multi.
RAM multiplier:
randomly increases to x5.33 when manually set to x4. this seems to be fixed as well,
i could not reproduce it, but it might occure again since it was very random and hard to reproduce.
Ok, but now I've seen that he's talking about the problems in F8H..
There is nothing about the F8j or F8k in that page... :(
tested the F8k and the stuck w/ CnQ always on is gone, but still impossible to use higher then 14x multi and elpida OC is bad in 6.66x memory divider (1600mhz divider I think)
BIOS F8k his review:
http://forums.tweaktown.com/f69/giga...tml#post362625
Didn't have time to really test it out fully. But both f8j and f8k gave me stability problems with previously stable settings used with f8h. However, room ambient was close to 30C when i tried them, so there is a good chance it was due to heat. Needs more testing.
C&Q and CPB enable/disable works as it should in f8k (was still bugged in f8j)
f8k is doing fine, but F8H still the best for every day use and better stability. F8K fixes some glitches
I can't say a word about this board, very nice indeed.
310 HTT, 2000Mhz DDR3, 3100Mhz NB speed , she can handle them all..
have tested f8k, it could boot (not in windows 7, but only bios) at htt335
f8k = htt335
f5c =htt307 (stock which i got with the mobo)
f3l =htt290
GA-MA790FXT-UD5P - F8L BIOS and BIOS bug report
Tried, still preaty weak for DDR overclocking, cant pass 1700MHz rock stable even at 7-7-7-24, 6x ram divider is worst than ever now, but I'm at 8x that works fine
HT limited at 320mhz
Cnq Bugged as hell, you can disable it now, but you cant get it to work using
custom NB/CPU multipliers.
F7 did work fine w/ CnQ and manual overclock. at 955, 1055 and 1090T.
Any info on when & official new bios will be out ?
So you can go well over 1666 on this board eh? I haven't tried now with my Team Group Dark set, but when I put my 720 +UD5P under DIce, I'll see how well they clock and see what this board can really do. It's done me well so far on air with my 720. ;)
Has anyone tried and can anyone confirm that SLI runs on this mobo using the SLI patch developed by http://xdevs.com/e107_plugins/conten...php?content.30 ?
Here's the link to the thread and all related discussions http://forums.techpowerup.com/showth...60844&page=163
The reason I'm asking is that I'm hesitating to upgrade to a second GTX 470 and later find out it doesn't work in SLI even with the SLI patch.
Thanks in advance for your feedback.
It looks like the support for this mobo is gone forever.
That's why my next board will be an Asus.
We need Bios Updates! memory support is so awful in this board.
For whatever reason I cannot get the @BIOS to flash the latest F8L bios???
I download from GB server. Put on desktop and unpack. Tell utility to load from file and it does not like the file.
Tried the .exe and it has a compability issue. I am running Win7 Ultimate.
I tried putting on thumb drive and using Q flash and it 'looked' like it did something but I am still on F2 based on CPUz and @BIOS.
I am sure a very rookie mistake here, but what am I doing wrong?
just got this mobo, bios is f8k. It has problems with memory, With cruicial ballistix 1600Mhz 8-8-8-24 2T 1,65V, when memory multiplier is x8, prime 95 stops after few second's, it also stops with 9-9-9-27 2T timings and 1,65V, even 1,7V doesn't help. But it works fine with 1333Mhz and 7-7-7-21 T2 timings.
I have Phenom II 925 C2, I read number of pages in this topic, but didn't managed to find anyone overclocking 925/945 with locked multiplier. Yesterday i tried 1,47-1,52V NB with FSB 260-275 NB 1,28V, HT and NB x8 multiplier, memory multiplier x6,66 and high memory timings, but PC freezes at 40-50 minute of prime 95 runing.
BTW this is my friend OC result with this board with 905E
http://amdgeeks.com/overclock/969
zirnis, test another bios rev. i dont think f8k is the best.
Tomasis, which bios revision is best?
here is voltage settings. What else I should increase?
http://www.part.lt/img/1e6581b1f2607...1bfccc5347.JPG
with these voltages Phenom II 925 C2 manged to reach 270FSB @3.780Ghz NB and HT multiplier's 7 and 8 worked stable for more than hour with prime 95, but with 272FSB PC it crashes after few seconds with prime 95 running.
http://www.part.lt/img/f29a6f2ccd792...aee1162390.jpg
OMg Please bagging for new bios w/ better ram support and ocability
BIOS F8m
:D
sorry for late response.. what is best rev is hard to tell. you have try different rev. last 5 ones. f3L was popular,, I liked f5c which was included in shipped mobo as I got. F8c seems good for some.
now it came new f8m
you have to test .. check if it is htt issue, or mem? Im not sure about your mem IC. test mem dividers too. cool your nb properly
I'm always happy when you post.
I know this UD5 is a Solid board, more than any other. I was just missing some better ram overclock for my elpidas and better NB overclock as seen on crosshair IV. I think that's much a matter of bios improovement.
I will definately go for Gigabyte w/ bulldozer if this bios is the one I'm looking for.
Hey. I have had this board for a while. Before I hay my disks set up in a software RAID5 array, now I have them in a hardware array, and when I try to copy large amounts of data over, i get a BSOD. Yeah I have my computer OC'd but i have not had it blue screen with my other uses (watching videos, WCG, light gaming, etc) It's only been recently that I've been having this problem. On the BSOD, it flashes something about ntfs quick before rebooting. Anybody have any ideas?
UPDATE: It looks like it's something with the external and USB possibly. I tried copying something over to the local drive and it crashed again... I'll keep digging around a little.
SOLVED: It looks like the chipset drivers from Giga conflict with the USB drivers that W7 installs. I uninstalled all of the usb ports and rebooted and it worked fine.
i got 1075T and this is my best till now, will try more but i think this is max fsb i can get from my mobo, cooled with air
http://www.shrani.si/f/y/iA/1FnzRkzF/record.jpg
Only 280's? That's a shame. I've got a board that I just set the HT. to and it booted completely stable at 305. It can definitely go farther. Have you tried increasing the NB (chipset) voltage?
does anyone know what is set fsb clock generator for this mobo
I have a picture of the PLL, but it's not in the SetFSB list.
http://i302.photobucket.com/albums/n...3/DSCN1157.jpg
i managed to push it just over 4.4GHz :P
http://www.shrani.si/f/35/6M/2q7Z4LXY/44.jpg
Does anyone happen to know if this motherboard is gonna support the upcoming bulldozer CPUs?
Probably not, unless Gigabyte decides to update BIOS as ASUS and MSI do. Gigabyte has already made/announced AM3+ ready motherboards (revisions/new versions of 8x0 chipset boards with black AM3+ socket).
It will, but probably later.
F8K that is supposed to be good here is weird, sometimes it's stable, and sometimes not. Some weird popping cranckling noise coming from Forte 7.1 + 6870 crossfire...
F8M has worse OC abilities but seems very stable, PhenomMsrTweaker , don't work in F8M also....
Do the latest beta Bios improve the support of 1.5V memories? I'm running F8c and it seems that it can't set the voltage below 1.6v.
I would check my bios for mem voltage range if i could. My keyboard stopped working at post ? I cant even set my hd to sata mode without the bios hanging. I was planing on a new amd board for bulldozer. I'm glad i waited .
